Last year, I booked with Melanie (Mel) after seeing her work and positive reviews. My first and second appointments with her were amazing -- she was attentive, professional, and exactly what I needed while dealing with postpartum hair loss. Unfortunately, communication since then has shifted. I booked a 6:00 AM appointment a month in advance for today. Since it was an early start time I wanted to make sure we were still set to meet. I texted twice yesterday to confirm -- at 12:22 PM and 6:10 PM. By 9:00 PM with no response, I assumed the appointment was forgotten or canceled. She eventually responded at nearly midnight, which I didn't see until morning, effectively canceling the appointment. I understand her reason for canceling, but what I don't understand is the lack of communication -- a quick text takes a minute. Booking this appointment was already frustrating due to delayed or no responses, & the last-minute message makes me feel like she wasn't even planning to reach out. I truly liked her work & wanted to remain loyal, which makes this extremely disappointing. I'll unfortunately be looking for a new stylist & a new salon. read more

I'm local and needed somewhere to get mine and my daughter's hair cuts. Shear Vanity was very professional. Serviced my daughter very professionally. Talked to her. Hyped her up. I was grateful as some places just ignore children & dont engage. I was very happy with my hair. They were patient as i wanted it cut shorter (after they cut it) because 2inches wasn't enough. I dye my hair red & it stains sometimes and I've had stylists complain. I explained that to Shear vanity & they weren't bothered by it at all and assured me it's part of being a hair dresser. I just got my hair done with Mel and she was great. She was very nice and sweet which was already a huge plus but she left my hair exactly how I envisioned it in my mind. It's just so beautiful. I didn't know what would go with me so I told her to do what she thought went with me with dark roots (there's a name for that but I can't think of it) and she gave me this beautiful balayage that goes with me. Dan was my stylist. First time seeing him. I needed color correction ASAP! I went from virgin beautiful brown hair, to bleached blotchy hair to violet. Needed to go back to brown for work.. I used boxed dye (like a dumb ass) and my hair turned into like a baby poop green. Luckily Dan, being the professional and educated stylist that he is, was able to not only correct my color but also bring the life and health back into my hair ! Came in to see D'onna. I mixed up the appointment time somehow but she was still able to squeeze me in (I canceled my original appointment, thought I booked for an earlier time same day but it was for a day that I would be out of town). Anyway, my hair was severely damaged from a previous bleaching. She gave me so many helpful tips, products recommendations, and suggested we wait to tone so we can lift the uneven parts of my hair and have the colors blend well together when it's a bit less porous.
