The owner Linda has excellent skills customer service, face & skin in facials, hair (styling, dying, wash/dirty) eyebrow shaping experience, offers 2 walls of product in good brands like Paul Mitchel, Has make up for sale, and so.much more. Once upon a time back in the 90's I took the Little Mermaid Doll belonging to my daughter Veronica and Linda. Matched that red. To the T. It lasted long and provided me with shampoo for a great price that had a red tint to it too keep my hair bright red. I will never forget our days of styling .... God bless Linda in having a profitable year to keep in business for many more years.im about to schedule an appointment for she can style my hair and dye it a color of a comedian just seen on TV with blonde streams and reddish brown tones under. I snapped a pic and I bet she can match it too the T again. She did my streaks for me in 1998 for the first time in my life I loved it. My mother and sister followed my shoes and they still kinda have that look of different shades of blondes and tan, brown lines called streaks. The best memory ever is when I was a child. I stood in my fluffy white dress, white stalking, white shoes, and Linda was walking up the stairs to my grandmother's Consuela Ledesma's house to do her hair for her celebration of renewing vowels. She actually came out to the house for my Nana and did make up and hair. She made my Grandma look younger and vibrant. She looked so beautiful. She did a great no excellent job. That night Linda enjoyed herself at the wedding celebration the only time I seen her out of her element of working in the salon. She has dedication and drive. Linda does wonders with her shears and offers more than many stylists ever could! I have been to Hair Essentials to get my hair done by Linda several times now and have left satisfied every time! I am so lucky to have such a great salon in Downey. Best of all it is very unique. Linda takes the time to get your hair done just the way you want it every time. Just pay close attention to how she works your hair with the shears and you'll agree. My mother studied cosmetology so I know what I am talking about. It's not hard to find the salon and there is plenty of free parking. Why do I say she has more to offer than an average beautician? Well, she has immense knowledge of all things spiritual! She has studied feng shui and other forms of maximizing the spritual dimension in your life. Some hair stylists will rarely chat about anything other than gossip but I have actually left Linda's chair with advice on how to improve my karma and success in life. She can also do feng shui for you at your home. She has studied under some of the best masters and knows different forms of feng shui. One of my BF's coworkers actually used her feng shui skills and she says that it was worth every penny! There's nothing like the combination of beauty and wisdom that Linda's great skills have to offer. Love this place, and would really wish I could give the full five stars but today's experience messed up my perspective of this place. Don't get me wrong Linda (main stylist ) is great and always gets her job done in a timely manner and with great professionalism. One of the other stylists on the other hand, is what made me give this place my current rating. This surprised me because she's really nice and I like how she does my hair but she slacked and is slacking as I'm writing this review on getting my hair done today. My appointment was at 9, I came in at 8:50. I've gotten my hair straightened here for a long time but today was dreadful. It's been an hour and fourteen minutes and my hair is even frizzy for how long it's been blow dried and nothing has been done to it. I was beginning to get my hair straightened when I was asked to move so a previous client could get her hair done. Ok, I moved no problem. Twenty minutes later I come back to the styling chair when my stylist (the same one who asked me to move) invited another customer to come in for some root touching. It seems to be they have some sort of past connection but while she is getting her root touch up I'm here sitting down watching customers come and go when my procedure is pretty simple. Like I've said, I've been here many times and always satisfied with the final result, my hair comes out shiny and smooth and really soft, something I could never get done at home. But today, a day I actually have an event to go to in two hours, my hair isn't even 1/4 done while I made my appointment early. I've been here on busy days and something like this has never happened. Let's hope today was just a flake. One hour and thirty minutes after my appointment and my hair isn't done, maybe I should've done it myself at home. Not the same quality, but at least I would be heading to my event on time. So I'm leaving the salon at 10:44am, I am completely satisfied with my hair. I love how she doesn't put too much product on my roots so my hair lasts about a week while still being soft. Unfortunately I won't change my rating yet due to the really really long wait, but there's always next time to try get the rating back- the rating the actually deserve. Hair essentials is a great local salon where Paul Mitchell and other fine products are used throughout the salon, plus an exquisite lavender and mint shampoo and conditioner set which really relaxes you.
