I'm very surprised by the low ratings for Shawarma Royale because I had a different experience than the majority of Yelpers. My friend and I decided to meet up at Shawarma Royale today for lunch as my friend said another location he went to was good. We arrived around 12 pm and there was only one customer in the restaurant at the time. The staff did look busy with orders though. My friend and I got the chicken Royale meal. I got the queen size and I think he got the king size with a poutine upgrade. We paid for our orders and sat down. We noticed all the chairs looked dirty, but I think it's just worn and scuffed up. I did notice the fake balconies and flowers above the tables as decor. I thought it was random because it didn't match the interior of the restaurant but I guess they're going off a Royale theme. We both thoroughly enjoyed both our meals. I couldn't finish half of it so my husband will be bringing it to work tomorrow. I would come back here. read more

I was first introduced to this place by a friend who purchased their chicken and beef and lamb platters for an event. I'm usually reluctant to eat shawarma in the city since it doesn't compare with what I'm used to. Anyway, it turned out to be a hit. Their beef and lamb was tender and flavourful and the cut up vegetables were fresh and crisp and their fries were very tasty! I've returned for the same platter numerous times and it doesn't disappoint. It's good for multiple servings. I've gone in during my lunch breaks since they're conveniently located minutes from my workplace. I find their food to be fresh every time and piled high! Customer turnover is high. I often find lineups or patrons dining in or waiting for their orders. I've taken a friend with me who regularly orders the shish tawouk bowl and likes the tenderness of the chicken atop rice & fries. The employees are kind and helpful. The eatery is owned by Syrians so the shawarma is Syrian style made with markouk bread and drizzled with pomegranate molasses. The wraps contain whatever toppings you want. I like mine fully loaded with tahini, choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, pickles and toum. They used to be more generous. I have discovered more recently that their takeout containers have changed slightly so pickles, turnips and their tasty coleslaw now come in smaller packages with a handful of fries, whereas before you'd get a full serving. read more

The place looks super cute with floral decor on faux balconies. The service was decent... patient, attentive and informative. However, the food lacked substance. I like that they have sizes of shawarmas (prince, queen and king) but flavor wise I'd give them a 2 out of 10. The garlic sauce and fries were amazing but that was it. There is genuine effort and they are accommodating but they don't put hot sauce in the sandwich, you get it on the side. The chicken was bland with no salt and not enough spices. The flavor of the pickled turnips was... weird. You can do better if you feel feedback is a gift. read more

Shawarma Royale is good, although pricier than others. There are so many shawarma places in Mississauga, it is not worth going to a bad one. We arrived around 30 minutes before they closed, and we felt bad, but they still had many customers in there. We ordered our food and had it made. During the cooking, we noticed a worker starting to unwrap our wraps, but stopped. We thought it weird, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Seeing another employee going down the chart of what goes in the wrap with the employee, we assumed it was just a simple mistake. We got our order, and arrived home to realize one wrap had pickles when the receipt said it should not, and the other was missing turnips. We remembered the occurrence, and realized that they probably caught on, and didn't want to fix it or remake it. This is really disappointing as it specifically said on the receipt no pickles. The wrap itself is tasty, and they have good falafel. Although their lamb is quite fatty and oily, to the point where it was inedible. At the bottom of the wrap was a pool of oil. Their garlic sauce is also good. We both have had shawarma royale years back, but we came again to introduce a friend. Needless to say, none of us would be returning. read more

A review made us go here for dinner. But man, it was not worth the trip. No worries, there are plenty of parking spots as it's located in a new plaza which is not fully packed yet. They ran out of "shish" dishes which was a disappointment as I wasn't sure what it was. They give us a choice to do a review for a free coke (another company). No thanks!! I asked if they do Yelp, and the girl didn't know about it!!!!? What?? Yelp is the best!! My partner felt they were trying to bribe us. Environmental friendly- definitely not!!! Whether you eat there or takeaway, you get your meal on a styrofoam container, and the sauce is inside a plastic little container. The shawarma chicken was dry. The fries was ok. The coleslaw seemed out of place for a middle eastern eatery. My chicken-lamb wrap was large with an interesting very thin wrap that was chewy. Best part of the meal was the actual wrap. Inside, I felt there was too much sauce and not enough veggies. Tasted more chicken than lamb meat. Oh yeah, I think they messed up my order because my partner got his meal 5-8 minutes before mine and we ordered it together. Also I saw four wraps being done and it wasn't for the person in front of me. Verdict- definitely not going back. I've had better shawarma closer to Square One. It was good. Has the lamb and salad plate with the yoghurt/tahini sauce. This is a Syrian restaurant, low key, quiet and gets one fed really well. Very very clean place. Impeccably so. Their seasonings are very different to Lebanese food. Salad was crunchy and fresh. Only criticism is too much tahini on meat. I had high expectations for Shawarma Royale based on all of the positive google reviews and how busy they were when I walked in. This place was busy with people dining in and take out orders. Service- 5/5 the younger gentleman was courteous, quick, and easily understood my order. Food- 2.5/5 I had the lamb and chicken platter and like a lot of other reviews stated ITS DRY and OVERCOOKED. In canada day .. after fireworks we decided to try The Royale shawarma restaurant. Nice atmosphere and very clean restaurant! Very nice place to grab, eat and go. We arrived at 10:30 pm supposedly to close at 11 pm but more than 3 big groups arrived after 11:30 and they been served and welcomed. However, most of menu they were out off ! We had nice and authentic shawarma chicken, poutine and chicken poutine. Shawarma was very good , poutine I wont recommend it or order it again for the quality of the fries and cheese how ever the portion is enough for 2 persons. I surprised with the price of shawarma poutine and poutine that they are priced equally which doesn't make sense to me at all ! No trays been serving for dine in, my kids asked for straws for juice were also out of straws as well ! At all it was a little bit pricey but I would give it another try in near future. read more

Good shawarma and fries at the Erin mills location. I usually get the prince wrap beef and lamb, the shawarma bread is delicious and soaks up the meat flavour and sauces and gets grilled for a little crispness. I feel really sorry to put this rating for a restaurant that serves the best shawarma I tried so far in the GTA. For me service is as important as taste when reviewing a restaurant. I have been in this location twice, and I'm not sure if I will be returning, or if I should recommend it for others, as I believe the business owners should make changes. The shawarma itself is good, not as crispy as I would like it, and missing spice flavor, the garlic mayo is over powering. The french fries were delicious crispy though it needs some salt, which is missing from the restaurant. The coleslaw was saggy, sweet, not my favorite. The pickles were good. My only take is the service, the person on the cash were playing with her phone. I hope the owners will make benefits of my review or else they will be losing customers for bad service read more

well well, it has been a while since I have done a review on Yelp, and I must say that I am strongly disappointed that the reason for my return is a negative review for a place that I had high hopes for. But I am only doing this to get a message across and help the business improve and learn from their mistakes. I have traveled and visited Syria and sampled their amazing cuisine in the past, and Shawarma Royale does a decent job delivering an authentic taste in the plates that they serve. On the other side unfortunately, they do a terrible job in managing their que line, dealing with customers, and delivering on time. Today we had to wait for a full hour from the moment I paid to receive my order, which was a simple 3 wraps order. The lady in the front was mildly apologetic when confronted by annoyed customers, but just like the rest of staff, they avoid eye contact in hopes that people would wait indefinitely and the problem would go away on its own. There was no compensation for the time wasted, orders were not up to the expected quality and the place seemed understaffed with no manager in site. This was not my first visit to this place, and I would say that 3 out 5 times they would get the order right and the food would be great, but 5 out 5 of those time we would have to wait longer times than usual for our order to come with today being the longest of them all and me being close to cancelling my order and leave if it wasn't for the group that was with me. As I was reading the reviews, one reviewer mentioned that the coleslaw felt out of place in a Middle Eastern place, but funny enough, that is exactly how they serve it in Syria. As I have said earlier, my aim for this review is for the place to improve and learn how to better deal with customers. Because no matter how great the food tastes, if there is no respect for the customers' time, then people would choose any other place even if it has lesser quality than receive this kind of treatment. read more

Best chicken shawarma in the GTA, their garlic sauce is to die for. It's a bit pricey but the chicken tastes like actual chicken, unlike other shawarma joints these days. The interior is very well done and is set up like a patio. Pretty neat. The line up for lunch was very long, and when I got to the cash, I found out why. The cashier was returning texts on his iPhone between orders. I ordered the chicken rice/fries combo. The food took a long time which is understandable considering the volume of customers. The food was fantastic. The rice had great flavour and the shawarma was great. The trouble was that the portions were very small, especially for the price of the entree. First off all the chicken was unusually crispy and dry (because they dont turn the grill roller thing alot) the place was supposed to open at 11 but when we got there at noon they were still preping. Ordered a family platter and a shawarma salad. The platter can generously feed 4 adults. The portions were crisp and well filled ., condiments were fresh and the fries served along were just the right temperature.. kids loved it. The salad was beef and lamb mix that tasted very well. Shwarmas can be found anywhere. But decent shwarmas are hard to find. This place is jaw dropping. I ordered the chicken on rice dish. $11 and change. GreT price for the amount of food. The chicken was not over cooked and incredibly spiced. The cinnamon is so fragrant. The rice was cooked with cardamom which is apparent from when you open the container. The Coleslaw is nothing special. And the pickles and turnip is like any place. But the chicken and rice make this dish a game changer. The pudding with almonds and pistachios is not super sweet and tastes like the nuts were just shelled. So tasty. The staff was so nice. I asked their opinion and they were glad to share what was their favourite. I also asked what one of the breads meant and he was eager to describe it. While I was waiting for the dishes to be prepared the gentleman slicing the meat offered a taste of the lamb. Holy doodle. It was so soft and nicely spiced. I'll be ordering lamb next time for sure.
