Got talked into a new system that was smaller than my previous system because I was told my system…read morewas oversized in 2024 also in 2024 i had my vents cleaned by dormar only to find out weeks later that he detroyed all my flexible vents with the machine which i replaced on my own. last summer 2025 I found out the system wouldn't keep up now 2026 my new unit wont turn on thinking that dormar would make good on warranty work only to find out they still charge you a 190.00 service fee to find that out. After dealing with thikis company and learning that there is zero accountability and their excuses is high turn over rate i decided to never use their services again. Run dont walk to the next hvac specialist. Also I plan on filing with the BBB and Attorney General's Office

I had a heat pump and it was replaced with an A/C only unit last June…read more (He said he didn't realize we had a heat pump but it would be fine) It ran non-stop for a month while I contacted him repeatedly and got excuse after excuse for why he couldn't make it when he said he would be there. He finally came out and told me it was still wired for a heat pump. After that the unit would freeze up inside and out. He said he would be out to check it....in July 2018, I'm still waiting. I got through most of the winter because we had a pellet stove. The pellet stove stopped working and we had to use the furnace and my electric bill was $500 for one month. And now it's freezing up again.

Back in February we had our AC and Furnace replaced by Backus Heating and Cooling (Company's name…read moreis now J & M Heating and Cooling). Everything started out fine until I gave them the required money to purchase the equipment. Then it was a challenge getting them out, always had excuses on why they couldn't make it or even better not showing up and not communicating. Quality of work was not to par, the pvc drain line had to be fixed 3 times first time looked like it was cut with a butter knife. They set the ac unit in place after cutting the old lines and never hooked ac unit up, they told me it's better to hook it up when it's warmer but they never capped the copper lines so moisture got into the lines. I ended up paying another company in May to finish hooking up my ac. I was suppose to receive a new ac pad, ac disconnect and ac cover which I never received, the other company that finished the job provided it. Backus offered a refund for unfinished work back in April but I have still yet to receive any refund. They will not reply to any of my recent communications. I know of one other family that is also very dissatisfied, I am curious how many others are going through similar situation with this company. So to end this review, I am very dissatisfied with my experience and quality of work from Backus Heating and Cooling. I refuse to ever use/refer them ever again. If you are looking for Heating and Cooling work use caution on who you pick.
