My experience working with Cham from SuperTec to install a thermostat: A friend had previously installed a Honeywell thermostat for me and it worked perfectly for 1.5 months before a fuse blew. My apartment maintenance reinstalled the original Emerson thermostat, and decided to hire a professional to complete the install. First tech visit: Before Cham installed my thermostat, my A/C was working perfectly with the original thermostat - blowing cold/warm air with no issues. After he installed the Honeywell thermostat, the heat worked but the A/C was NOT working. It was blowing warm air instead of cold. I checked and told him the A/C wasn't blowing cold air. He told me to "wait it out" and "take his word for it" that it would eventually come on. I had to leave for work, so I paid his invoice and just trusted him. When I got home at 9 PM, I set the A/C to 60F when the room was 73F. After running for an entire hour, the temperature stayed at 73F. I texted him at 10 PM to report the A/C wasn't working. Second tech visit: He came back and claimed the problem was low refrigerant levels. He took refrigerant readings with the Honeywell thermostat installed when it was 30F outside. He himself stated that refrigerant levels should only be measured when outdoor temperature is at or above 65F. Yet he took readings at 30F. At my request (maintenance required the original thermostat to be reinstalled for work orders), he said reinstalling the original Emerson would cost $100. I agreed to pay because I thought maybe there really was a refrigerant issue. I paid the $100 (now $250 total invested). He reinstalled the original thermostat and immediately the A/C started blowing cold air. I told him it was now blowing cold air. He claimed it didn't appear to be blowing cold air despite me feeling it clearly blowing cold. He had taken another refrigerant reading with the original thermostat at 33F outside and claimed both readings were "almost identical." The the A/C worked perfectly with the original thermostat and didn't work with his Honeywell installation. If refrigerant was truly the issue, the A/C wouldn't have worked with either thermostat. He then suggested I return my Honeywell and buy a new one to prove the thermostat was defective (not his installation). It was past the return window, so I would've had to buy another $90 thermostat. He said if the new one worked, it would prove the first thermostat was bad. If it still didn't work, he wouldn't charge me again. At this point, I had paid $250 and saw his story wasn't adding up so I hired another HVAC professional. Before tech started work, me and the tech tested both heat and A/C together. Everything worked perfectly. The tech installed the exact same Honeywell thermostat that Cham from SuperTec had installed (the one where A/C wasn't working), and now BOTH heat and A/C work flawlessly. read more

Never hesitate to get a second opinion. I understand not everyone's skill levels are equivalent but in the course of 3 months and several repeat visits and upwards of $1500 paid out to this contractor the true problem was never addressed. He then suggested either a complete rewiring or a new unit (trying to force us into a new unit as he claimed rewiring parts wouldn't be able to be sourced. Our regular HVAC tech confirmed that it was a simple fix and the furnace has plenty of years of life in it as it's only an 8 year old unit. read more

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. This man (Cham) does such fine, thorough work that it keeps his schedule full. He arrives in a timely manner, and is quite honest; with him you know exactly what's wrong, what needs to be done, and what all the options are. I ignored my husband's advice and called someone else for a consult, and boy did I pay for it. Stick with this guy! The last time he came out to our house before today was 8 years ago. Cham is honest - a straight shooter, friendly and professional, who knows his business; he listened carefully to us and searched out the problem we were having with the thermostat. He then solved it to our great relief and satisfaction. We can't recommend him highly enough and would call on him again in a second. I contacted SuperTec Heating and Cooling because, when I set the thermostat to heat, it suddenly jumped to auxiliary heat (= heat pump, which we don't have) and the AC came on. We had had a good experience with the company a few years back, so I called them for help. Cham got back to me that same day and, unbelieveably (though not apparently for SuperTec), added me to the end of his service calls that very afternoon. I had a misfortune of a furnace going out last winter in my Dublin, OH home, and that's how I first came across this company. They responded fast, and swapped out the furnace quickly. I needed a service for my HVAC system, so I went online and sent out the "feelers" late on a Sunday night. First thing the next morning I had an e-mail, as well as voicemail, from the owner, Cham. He was polite, courteous, and to the point. He was also available the same day! He told me the time he'd be there, and he was on time, within minutes. He serviced both my Furnace and A/C (both pre-80s) within the hour, and was really inexpensive. I'd recommend this guy to anyone looking for service on their HVAC units. We'd been using Atlas Butler as our go-to HVAC service, and I started to feel like they were telling us things were bad when they really weren't. They came out a few months ago for a furnace inspection and said we'd probably need a new furnace before Winter 2017. I wanted another opinion, so I contacted Cham at SuperTec based on recommendations on the Nextdoor website. He came out today and thoroughly inspected the unit. He said nothing was wrong at all, and it should last us another 10 years. He even took the time to answer all my questions. I would highly recommend using Cham for your HVAC services. I found SuperTec on Home Advisor at 8:30 in the morning after noticing my air conditioning wasn't working. I called them at 8:45 and they said they'd be here by 9:15. They arrived at 9:16 and had diagnosed and fixed the problem by 9:34. When the technician (and owner) had me on the phone, he had me look at my unit and tell him what I saw. He made a sight-unseen diagnosis and gave me a rough estimate over the phone. He also explained in very easy terms how to prevent the unit from taking any further damage before he arrived. The fix was simple. He had the parts on him, and it was far less expensive than I'd thought. He was able to charge my card at the house with SQUARE (no bills!) and I am very happy to report that although the unit was fixed on a week of pleasant 70-75 degree temperatures -- the past heat wave of 90 and near-90 temps, we've been able to retreat inside safely and comfortably. Our dog, a Chow, also really appreciates his work. I'm very disappointed in this service! If I could post this review and give them zero stars, I would. This service was mentioned to us so we never questioned whether or not to use them. Our A/C was not cooling down and Cham Kahari came out to check it. He mentioned something about a compressor that might need replaced. I thought that myself before he even came out. Well he then talked about just cleaning it and adding freon. At the end of the service, still no air, no new parts and a $400 service charge. What a rip off! I even did an extremely high estimate calculation on adding freon and it should have only cost $200!! You're taking a serious risk calling guy because he's a scammer! read more

My AC wasn't blowing out cool air. Cham comes to my home without looking inside my home. He goes outside to my AC unit and says it needs refrigerate/Freon. It still has not worked so I called him numerous times. He comes to my home this afternoon and says it's now leaking freon and the coil is bad. We were having cooling problems at our office and the landlord had 3 different people out over several months to try to keep the AC running. Their people couldn't find the problem, and instead just kept patching things. Then Cham came out and identified the problem in about 40 minutes. The landlord's person agreed with Cham's assessment after about four hours of fiddling around, and said Cham knew what he was doing. In October 2016 the furnace suddenly wasn't heating the house and it was very cold outside. SuperTec was awesome. When I first called SuperTec Heating & Cooling, Cham attempted to walk me through a laundry list of checks I could do including a detailed disassembly, fine wool sanding, and reassembly to attempt to repair the furnace myself. When that didn't work, he came to my house that afternoon. The job required him to order a part which he did and then he came back at my earliest convenience which happened to be first thing in the AM on a Saturday. He repaired my furnace in 25 minutes and even left me some spare new parts that weren't needed at this time. He patiently explained everything he was doing and was extremely professional, pleasant, and efficient. BEWARE of this company! This past summer our A/C was not cooling our house that well so we gave this guy Cham Kahari from SuperTec a call. He comes over and suggests a bunch of different things like cleaning it with a hose and whatnot but he also decided to run some tests. One of his tests resulted in a very loud pop in the unit. He then says the compressor needs changing and gives us a ridiculous estimate and then suggests it might be worthwhile to consider changing the whole unit. We went along with it but then he says he wants over $5000 to change it and wants half of it upfront. We were very weary at first but he convinces us to pay the $2500 upfront and the rest after and he leaves saying he will come back within a couple days with the new unit. We called a friend who is good with A/C units to check it out and after looking at it for a while he said the unit was fine and it was just a minor wiring problem. We paid him $75 and our A/C has been working great ever since. We also called Cham-the-scam artist and got a refund for the $2500 we paid him. Stay away from Cham from SuperTec because he will try to rip you off if you're not careful. read more
