Hands down, Shatila makes the best baklava I've ever had in my entire life and I've had many. This goes for both the pistachio and the walnut varieties. Was craving for middle eastern sweets and I happen do drive by Shatila Bakery. Ordered a slice of Knafe with the cream cheese. When I got home, I had to warm it up in a microwave because the filling hardened because of the cold weather. It tasted good with simple syrup and crushed pistachio. For $3.50 a slice, the knafe tasted good but not as great as the ones in Dearborn. Also ordered 2 pieces of the Ballourie so my total bill will be more than $5. It's there minimum charge for a credit card, or else you have to pay cash. The bakery also served cold Slushee and hot drinks. Nice place to meet with a friend or hang out for a short time. But they looked yummy, so I ordered a couple pieces. 1 baklava, 1...something else with pistachio. These sweets were delicious! However, the service behind the counter was unfriendly, and when I brought the food to my table, I noticed the tabletop wasn't very clean (to speak nothing of the floor...). I also wouldn't be able to take my call due to the volume of the music (good music, but too loud for a call). A little difficult to see because of all the construction going on in the road. However, the bright Shatila lights will easily guide you to the sugary oasis. Right before walking in, I am smacked by the delicious smell of sugar. I know one of the reviews say they might not make the goods at this location, but I smelled otherwise. Unless they spray the place to entice you lol. There's nice seating area outside. Inside is a counter (much smaller than their other location). Have to rate this as a 5 star cause the quality of the baklava is outstanding (my coworkers have devoured it all) and I didn't have to wait in line like the Dearborn location. I am a great fan of Shatila in Dearborn. The displays are beautiful, the quality excellent, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Not the case with the West Bloomfield location. The store is cramped and the selection limited compared to Dearborn. But the real problem is the staff. They are rude, inconsiderate and dismissive. My last visit they opened late because the staff was unloading deliveries, which is not a big deal, but they also saw me waiting for them to open (only car in the lot, parked right next to them) and never acknowledged me or alerted me when they were open. Once inside, the clerk practically snarled at me, telling me to wait then asking "do you need something?" She retrieved my order, took my money, slid a receipt under the COVID barrier and turned her back. No thank you, come again, just hostility. I won't darken their door again, but will return to the Dearborn store. Very disappointing. read more

I placed an online order for Mixed Mamoul (15 pieces) and Baklawa cookies (Half Tray) on October 12, 2023. I received an email with the FedEX tracking number the next day. I continued to track the shipment and according the FedEX information, the package was delivered on October 17, 2023. However, there is no package at my doorstep or within the block. I filed a complaint with FedEX and reached out to Shatila Bakery via email on the same day. I didn't receive any feedback from Shatila Bakery and contacted them on Monday, November 20, 2023, and talk to a representative that promised to contact FedEx and process a refund accordingly. I have not received any feedback nor any refund yet. I reached out again to Shatila Bakery yesterday and the representative denied receiving any notification of failure to delivery or refund request. This isn't as busy location as the dearborn one and there is no noise. hope because they dont have factory preparation here. Visited in the evening time to have coffee. Going to shatila bakery and having coffee alone wouldnt be good right when you see those many pasteries in front of you. Had hazelnut roll and almond bool also.
