This is their second, smaller location with the original located in Dearborn, which is much larger and a popular spot for locals to hang out and have dessert late at night. They specialize in middle eastern sweets including baklava, also have a variety of baked cakes/desserts, and ice cream. Their pistachio ice cream is very popular and the main reason why I come here. Hands down, Shatila makes the best baklava I've ever had in my entire life and I've had many. This goes for both the pistachio and the walnut varieties. If you can't make it to the original in Dearborn this location is a perfect compromise. A smaller bakery but with most all of the treats you want. Was craving for middle eastern sweets and I happen do drive by Shatila Bakery. Ordered a slice of Knafe with the cream cheese. When I got home, I had to warm it up in a microwave because the filling hardened because of the cold weather. It tasted good with simple syrup and crushed pistachio. For $3.50 a slice, the knafe tasted good but not as great as the ones in Dearborn. Also ordered 2 pieces of the Ballourie so my total bill will be more than $5. It's there minimum charge for a credit card, or else you have to pay cash. The bakery also served cold Slushee and hot drinks. Nice place to meet with a friend or hang out for a short time. Wished the ladies who worked their at the time could have smiled. They also don't sound happy when customers ask for the price, or let them describe what's the dessert called. read more

Years later, it's still just as good. Come for the prepared variety boxes of baklava (my friends will pack several into suitcases to fly home to California) and other sweets. Make sure to grab a number when you arrive in order to get in line for help. There's a coffee/ice cream bar to the right when you walk in, which sells some amazing coconut ice cream. Great for my purposes. I tucked my things at a table at one end of the cafe, and went to the counter to order something. I should have looked at reviews before coming here; the display counter is full of sweets (but not any lunchy foods). But they looked yummy, so I ordered a couple pieces. 1 baklava, 1...something else with pistachio. These sweets were delicious! However, the service behind the counter was unfriendly, and when I brought the food to my table, I noticed the tabletop wasn't very clean (to speak nothing of the floor...). I also wouldn't be able to take my call due to the volume of the music (good music, but too loud for a call). Stopped by here last night to pick up some baklava for work (donuts and bagels are old news to me). Parking may look small, but there's plenty of room in the back. A little difficult to see because of all the construction going on in the road. However, the bright Shatila lights will easily guide you to the sugary oasis. Right before walking in, I am smacked by the delicious smell of sugar. I know one of the reviews say they might not make the goods at this location, but I smelled otherwise. Unless they spray the place to entice you lol. There's nice seating area outside. Inside is a counter (much smaller than their other location). Have to rate this as a 5 star cause the quality of the baklava is outstanding (my coworkers have devoured it all) and I didn't have to wait in line like the Dearborn location. This isn't as busy location as the dearborn one and there is no noise. hope because they dont have factory preparation here. Visited in the evening time to have coffee. Going to shatila bakery and having coffee alone wouldnt be good right when you see those many pasteries in front of you. Had hazelnut roll and almond bool also. Coffee was excellent as well hazelnut roll. But the almond bool was little hard. As well as got ice cream (pistachio) for home. Every spoon of ice cream , you get nuts. As I was trying to navigate around road work, I came across this bakery/café. Lit up in the evening, the location showcases a variety of Middle Eastern and French pastries along the front and ice cream towards the back. Chatting friends sat cozily around small bistro tables. Still full from dinner, I was only able to sample a few lovely items. I liked the awamat, small balls of fried dough that were lightly sweetened. The treat was crunchy with just the right proportion of sweet syrup. The baklava featured flaky and buttery pastry, chopped pistachios, and sweet syrup. Each bite was a wonderful combination of salty and sweet, and crunchy of course. I was delighted to find another source for yummy baklava. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the mushabak, batter fried to resemble lattice lace work. The texture was a weird combination of soggy and crispy, although I did like the sweet flavor. I did not think of it, but will next time around, as I am still searching for a tulumba, a treat that I enjoyed immensely as a kid.
