This ice cream shop in West Bloomfield has a ton to offer. I've bought two cakes before from this shop before on two separate occasions, and they've both tasted great. I wanted to stop by to get a milkshake m, and figured why not just go all out and order their Milkshake Masterpiece. This milkshake is so over the the top that the guy behind the counter masked if I was sure because you can just get a regular shake or just a regular ice cream cone, but I figured I don't stop by this place often so why not go for it. There was a LOT going on here. First it was a strawberry milkshake, and on top of it was: a mini vanilla cup with green icing, brownie, red velvet cupcake, strawberry, sucker, gummy candy, cookie, fruit roll up, and whip cream. Im Im sure there were more calories in this thing to last you three days worth of meals + the sugar intake was through the roof! But it all tasted amazing. I was very eager to come here when I heard the original owner rebranded. I believe the same owner ran the 31 flavors. We had ordered several custom cakes from him in the past. They were all really wonderful. We had the Halloween cake with the hidden candy in the middle, and even a custom dog cake he created that was not on any order form, so I wanted to continue to support a local businessman, especially one who was always really great to customers and, really listened to what they wanted, and worked hard at creating something fun to bring home. Now instead of Baskin Robins ice cream they carry Guernsey ice cream, Brown Dog, and Maggie Moos. We all got a kid double scoop in a waffle cone. The cone tasted fresh and was good. I really liked the Zoreo ice cream, which was super dark chocolate and Oreos. The owner told us he changes up the offerings everyday and has a lot of unique flavors along with the classics. There was a steady line of customers which was very good for a weekday afternoon. I did not get a chance to look at the ice cream cakes or ask about the fancy shakes but the children would like to come back and explore the menu, so perhaps we can get something new on the next trip over here. read more

I'm not sure what they hype is about. They don't make their own ice cream (most of it is from Guernsey, which I like) and there's nothing special about the place itself. Their servings are extremely small: one scoop is literally the size of a small ice cream scoop, just the one ball, no exra "padding" at all -- and it's over $4! You get a pint of house-made frozen custard at Culver's for that price! I've been to several ice cream places over the last week, and this was the least impressive and most expensive for what I received. read more

This is truly one of my favorite ice cream places. We drive a decent distance to come to this location. The owner is one of the kindest people. My three kids like to try a lot of the flavors and she helps them with such a great smile and cheerful disposition. So, I was on this side of town for the weekend and was in the mood for some ice cream since it was so hot outside. I was being fussy about what I actually wanted and how far I was going to drive to get to it. I thought I would try something different since I didn't feel like DQ or Coldstone. This place was close, and even though I secretly wanted soft serve ice cream, I wasn't willing to drive very far to get it. Walking in, the place is small, but has a nice selection of ice cream to choose from. (44 flavors to be exact. LOL). Staff here was friendly and helpful, and they offered me free samples in case I wanted to try anything. After spending a few minutes grazing, I went with the chocolate chip cookie dough. I over did it and went with two scoops, which was a lot! What a nice relief to get 2 scoops of ice cream for $6 on a hot day. Also, after talking with the staff, they said that they rotate flavors on a regular basis, so you could come back here and probably try something new each time, which is a bonus. A great ice cream shop and very convenient to me. I have had two ice cream cakes from 44 Scoops and both were amazing. The cakes have a layer of cake at the bottom, a thick layer of creamy ice cream and a layer of cream topping. My sister said that the "Death by Chocolate" was the best ice cream cake she ever had; everyone at the party agreed. The vanilla cake was equally good. I had two flavors of ice cream which were very good -- way better than the Baskin-Robbins that the former ice cream parlor at that location served. We came upon 44 Scoops by pure happenstance. I am always up for a good ice cream or ice cream shop, so we decided to visit this place! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by an extremely friendly guy. He knew a lot about the ice cream they were serving, and it was called Chocolate Shop Ice Cream Company. (Also Guernsey) We sampled a bunch of flavors, which he was more than happy to share with us! The ice cream was really tasty and our favorite was the smores...Most of us ordered the waffle cones and we thought the cone could've been thicker, as it was breaking pretty easily. Old Baskin Robbins...not very creative with name. Multiple ice cream flavors and all ice creams are from different creameries such as Guernsey as well as a few others. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here as there is nothing overly special. Maybe a different ice cream flavor or two that you haven't tried before but that is about it. read more

The owner "Neal" was extremely rude to my family. He said we weren't allowed to order mint chip but wouldn't say why. He just shook his head no. We decided to get other flavors which he was fine with. He had a bad temper and was very harsh when we were paying because we were using MasterCard. "Neal" was not helpful at all and is one of two reasons I will not return. The second reason being the poor quality of ice cream. It is just plain bad.
