Favorite spot in Metro Detroit for frozen custard & soft serve. Usually not a quick stop, so don't stop if you're in a rush. No frills. Cash only.

Vegan vanilla Gelato with oreo pieces. Size small! It's enormous!

Loved the place. All girls working there were very friendly, they offer a lot of different options (low fat, custard, yogurt, hand dipped ice cream), including some food and they give you a lot of stuff. Most importantly, they have vegan Gelato! Two flavors are constant (vanilla and chocolate) and one is in rotation. It's cash only so be prepared.

New birthday cake dip, its gluten free!

Pretty great local ice cream shop. Lots of folks from our neighborhood walk here. They have both hard and soft serve ice cream as well as soft serve frozen yogurt which rotates flavors weekly and vegan gelato and now they even have a few nondairy options. They have flurries, sundaes, sprinkles, you name it. Their prices are a little pricey compared to the other local ice cream shop and THEY ONLY TAKE CASH! Don't say I didn't warn you! The lines get long so be patient and be careful getting in/out of the parking lot, it's a tight squeeze sometimes.

My family and I went there one night for ice cream. So when we got there we ordered but when it was my turn the woman wasn't even trying to get my order right. So I ordered and everyone in my family got their ice cream but I haven't gotten mine yet. So my dad went to ask where it was and you could obviously tell that the woman did not give a crap, but she asked what I ordered and I said a Tiger Stripe in a cup but she came back out with a Tiger Stripe in a cone and it wasn't even the right size I got.

Very nice staff, first time coming here and they were extremely helpful. Very cheap and tasty!

Good ice cream, they even had a pup cup. There is a small waiting in line area. Also, not the best parking lot.

Tiger stripe ice cream

Creamy Freeze is my family's favorite ice cream shop! They offer a variety of frozen desserts including, frozen yogurt, hand dipped, frozen custard (our favorite), soft serve, non-fat sugar free, vegan gelato.. and more! Our go to flavor is the tiger stripe! Sizes are very generous. Be warned, they only take cash! There is an atm at the gas station across the road if you are in a pinch.

My dessert is always amazing!!! They are very friendly too!!! We frequently go here and never a problem, just good ice cream and a smile ! They only take cash so be prepared.

I just love my creamy freeze. I usually go 2-3 times a week and my order has evolved over time. I started by getting a ridiculous flurry with everything but the kitchen sink in it. Then I switched to the tiger stripe ice cream cone which was absolutely amazing and now I get the orange blast made with the tiger stripe extra thick. IT IS AMAZING! Everyone is super nice and it's only a few minutes away from the house. I love the small, quaint, small town feeling it has and to add to the feeling they don't accept cards so bring your cash!

I don't care how busy it is, this is the ice cream shop to go to. Good prices, good amounts, fresh, nice people.

Love the Tiger stripe ice cream. Can't find it anywhere else. Max, our dog, cannot get enough of their soft serve vanilla. Great local gem.

Loved. But they are cash only, which is a bit of a bummer since they don't have an ATM on site.

Ask the Community - Creamy Freeze

What non dairy flavors do you have? And what is the base? I cannot tolerate dairy or soy so looking for an oat, almond or cashew based ice cream.

Currently we have a black cherry non dairy made with oat milk. It is made by Guernsey Farms Dairy.

When does Creamy Freeze close for the season 2019?

September 29 will be our last day. Everything is Half Price that day! Until then we are open 7 days, 11am-9pm.

Today there are over 70 locations making it one of the biggest chains in Michigan. They also offer online retail. Not all the Leo's are equal. Visit each with an open mind. I can't speak for all locations, but, this one uses Koegel's hot dogs. The number one hot dog in Michigan. Their coney sauce (similar to chili sauce) is outstanding, but the buns were a disaster. Stale and cold in places. Half the bun ended up discarded. Tuesday's coney dog special is $1.99 per. I get two, Mrs. E. gets one. We then split fries or a Moussaka. Today it was fries. Leo's is so generous with the chili we can take half off the dogs and make chili fries. They have a very impressive menu featuring Greek and American dishes. Melissa was super friendly and checked on us a time or two. She brought to-go boxes and cups for our tea. The restaurant was fairly big and noisy, I don't imagine anyone will wait very long even at peak times. 01/26

It definately is head and shoulders above most of the burgers in the area. The side of fries were well made as well with a nice crunchy texture and nice flavor although not to the level of the burger. The facility itself seems to be oriented to more of a takeout operation versus dine in as there are only three small tables at the front near the entrance where on cold winter day you can feel the chill every time someone comes in or leaves the restaurant. Relative to staff, there is no waitstaff as it is a counter order operation where this is really not a factor here. Overall, one of the best burger joints in the area at a reasonable cost. The takeout nature of business is a factor here to consider if you are looking for table dining as it will be a roll of the dice if you get a table depending on time of day.

The main difference (recipe wise) between "Lafayette Coney Island" and the inferior "American…read moreConey" is the chili & onions. American uses boring "sweet onions" while Lafayette uses "SPANISH onions " which have more kick. But the real difference is the Chili, and that's the reason for the split & disagreement. Lafayette has a MEATER chili, meaning they don't skimp on quality ingredients. My best friend and I used to skip school in the 80's just to eat here. And the bathroom is COOL! It's like an adventure! The other main difference is American Coney has open seating because REAL Detroiters don't eat there. When interviewed there's a real character difference between owners. Grace Keros, the 3rd gen owner of American Coney likes to talk sh1t. You don't need to do that when your product is superior. Every interview she gives is sour grapes. Plus REAL Detroiters Coney dogs never put CHEESE on the coneys. American Coney = FAKE Detroit Coneys. Here is a pic of me in my $4Million Batmobile. Batman prefers Lafayette!

The Coney dog ($4) was ordered. It had the classic toppings of bean less chili, yellow mustard, and raw chopped white onions. This was solid. There was a nice bite on the chili with plenty of mustard and onions. The bread was soft and the hot dog was cooked appropriately. The chili was the key as it was hearty and meaty. Will I go back? Yeah, sure.
