This place was so great! Really generous kimbap portions for the price and STUFFED, good rice to filling ratio. We got takeout when we slept over for a night in novi otw to traverse city

I had to check this place out especially since it's literally 3 mins from the Costco in Commerce. This restaurant is located in a busy strip mall that has a Kroger. It's in the middle of several other stores (I can't remember them) and could be easy to miss but there is plenty of parking! First off, this place is super small, maybe 2 four-tops and 2 two-tops (bummer because I was considering this place for a big group but it would be very awkward for a large group as it would take up the entire space). I opted for take-out and ordered a Spicy Pork Gimbop which comes with a small miso soup. The service was excellent and was fast so I didn't have to wait too long. The prices for the soups and other items are great (I'll have to get takeout again to try). My hubby enjoyed the Spicy Pork kimbop more than I did (I should stick with Beef or veggie;) but we did enjoy it very much & it has a pretty good spice level. It comes in a cute box too! I would recommend So Poong Kimbap and can't wait to try their other items!

Dine in and carry out. There are 4-5 tables and bar seating. We ordered ramyun, 10 piece fried chicken, kimchi jeon, and tofu kimbap. Everything that we ordered was tasty. Good portions. Only two people working the entire place, not sure if that's the norm. 40 minutes before closing, they started to turn people away and said they're sold out for the day. I recommend going one hour before they close. There were at least 5 unhappy parties that weren't allowed to dine in or get carry out.

I've been wanting to come here for some time now and while I still haven't dined in, I finally did manage to get carryout from here! I got the original kimbap and a mayo tuna triangle (aka onigiri). Both were SO delicious and filling! The triangles are a good size and the kimbap was cut into so many slices - these two filled me right now on top of the seaweed soup that came with my order as well. The original kimbap was a perfect blend of ingredients and flavors! It didn't need anything additional to dip it into and the ratio of the rice to filling was more than perfect so you didn't feel like it was a mouthful of rice only at any point. My friends all got different variations of the kimbap. bowls, triangles, and soups and all of it was so delicious. We were all very pleased with our food. It's very vegan-friendly - we had 3 people in our party who are vegan - and very reasonably priced! I will absolutely be back soon to enjoy even more of their menu!

Small restaurant but a friendly service. Foods tasted fresh and tasty. Kimbap was packed with lots of ingredients. This is a great place for a quick lunch.

Loved the food! Tiny hole in the wall spot. They don't have bathrooms so your best bet is doing take out. My gf had the vegetarian roll and she said the tofu wasn't great, so I don't recommend that one. I was though very very happy with mine. They made sure to only use items that were gluten free and gave me more veggies to make up for the other items they couldn't use in the roll. Please know when you read tuna roll, it's cooked tuna. Taste like tuna from a can, which is fine if you aren't thinking you are getting raw tuna. One roll is very filling so order accordingly.

Everything is made to order, so make sure you call ahead if you're hungry. It's a cozy small restaurant with plenty of seating if you dine in. The menu is short, simple and easy. My favorite is the spicy pork gimbap and the bowl. The bowl is very similar to bibimbap sans a fried egg (instead its shredded). One of the better bowls I've had. The japchae was a bit bland but loved all the veggies.

It's in the shopping plaza, along with Kroger. It's between the tattoo place and the beauty shop. Small spot, some counter spaces, about 5 stools and 4 tables inside. We had some hot tea to start. We ordered 2 kimchi tuna samgak Kimbap (triangle), original Kimbap, spicy tuna kimbap, tteokbokki. $34.95. There is a Kimbap and food program playing in the corner TV, it gets your mind mentally prepared to eat some Korean food for sure. Even got to watch the Korean Kimbap master. I didn't get a spicy Kimbap roll as ordered, but I just added kimchi and tteokbokki sauce to each bite to give it a bit more heat. The tuna kimbap is fresh and pretty well packed, tastes good. The original Kimbap is good as well. I do like that there is a place to just get Kimbap. I have only ever been able to get it at a Korean store only. Not a bad thing to have a Kimbap shop not too far at all. The tteokbokki is not too bad at all, the rice cakes are nice and chewy and not overcooked at all. The two ladies out front checked up on us and made sure we were happy and good and enjoyed the food too. They were both quite nice, want to make sure you leave satisfied. The tuna and kimchi samgak Kimbap was my favorite out of all of the food items. Do hold the two sides of it while pulling off and around the number 1 to unwrap it.

The food deserves above the 5 stars! The food is authentic as it can get and the rolls were beautiful and absolutely delicious. I thought of docking two stars but didn't have the heart since I really liked this hole in a wall spot. Again, the theme here is amazing food. However the service was beyond slow and took almost 40 minutes for some triangle kimbap and regular kimbap rolls along with some spicy rice cake dish and ramen. If you have the time stop by please do it but it took so long (two people working) and so at least you know food is made with real effort and patience. If you're in a rush perhaps call ahead or ask how soon they can turn around the food. I don't want this post to deter you - it was truly the best Korean food I've had and I've been to spots all over the northeast and California.

Very interesting meal, we got bulgogi ssam Bap, spicy pork and bulgogi kimbap, triangle rolls of tuna and beef, spinach soup and mandu soup. All of it was tasty! The kimchee is spicy!

However, I firmly believe the restaurant gave me food poisoning, either from the oysters in the radish salad or the lettuce leaves that were a little expired. For my dinner, I ordered bossam (pork wraps). The banchan (side dishes) the meal came with included radish kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, potato salad, and seaweed salad, which were all delicious. The bossam itself came with a set of red leaf lettuce, mussangchae (radish salad), ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce), raw garlic and jalapeno, and a saeujeot (salted shrimp) mixture. Notably, some portions of the lettuce leaf did seem past their prime and were soggy or mush. All in all, I enjoyed the entire meal, especially the mussanchae which unusually had oysters in it. What I did not enjoy was the entire week I spent on the toilet after I ate the meal. Had I not been food poisoned, this restaurant would easily have been a 5/5. Because of this and despite the health concerns, I am willing to give the restaurant another shot. The other food options seem very enjoyable. Hopefully the poisoning was a once-in-a-million freak accident.

Bibimbap has always been on the pricer side, but I feel they are even more pricer now. The chicken wings are 15$ and you only get 5/6 and a larger 27 for 10. I think that's very expensive. However, I did like the sweet hot flavor of the chicken wings. The bulgogi hot stone bowl was 24$ and the bowl was so small and you didn't even get rice cakes with them. I didn't like no did I hate the flavor. It was definitely more savory than the normal sweetness of bulgogi. The side dishes were lacking sadly. Maybe because it was closer to night, but I did not like the side dishes at all. The barely tea was still good. That was my favorite thing about this place and glad it did not change. The decorations are still kind of the same and it didn't look different. The service was also nice. The person helping us was nice e and we did get checked on. I tried one of each flavor of chicken for the cupbap, and it was tasty and fresh. Though as a self proclaimed spice wimp, the sweet and spicy was just a bit beyond my tolerance. Still, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it by picking what flavors I wanted. The beef bulgogi kimbap was another winner that tasted fresh and delightful, and while the rice cake kkochi had a very lovely chewy texture, the spice level was just a bit much for me. Oddly enough, the first time I ordered, they messed up my cupbap. Extra annoying considering I had ordered take out and only noticed something was wrong once I was safetly settled back at my desk (I 100% could have checked before I left the restaurant so that bit's on me). I immediately called the restaurant to explain what had gone wrong, and they were incredibly apologetic and wanted to make it right for me immediately. They offered to refund me or make me something fresh. I opted for the latter. Honestly, they went above and beyond to make things right for me, and mistakes happen, so to see a business so plainly own their mistake and make up for it is always a plus in my book. I'll be back. That cupbap made my stomach happy.

We were surprised at its location, as it is a few doors down from a breakfast place we have frequented. We laughed at how we don't really pay attention to the other places in that complex.... The fare is Korean street food, which is a bit different than what one would get at a typical Korean restaurant. The decor of K Bunsik is very simple, with cutesy murals on the wall. There was an array of tables & chairs that were well-spaced, and the chairs were comfortable. When you sit at your table, there is a touch screen menu from which you order your food. The menu was a little confusing, for we were not familiar with the system. We asked a waitress for help and she showed us the easy way of finding the description of the menu items (yes, we felt a little foolish LOL). We ordered the Tabletop Ttoekbokki Set for Two, which came with fried dumpling, fried seaweed, soup and pickled relish sides, and drinks. We also ordered Kimpbap, which is a bulgogi sushi roll, and we ordered fried chicken with soy garlic sauce because .. why not? There was a slight snafu because we ordered the Kimpbap without egg (allergy) but it came with egg anyway. They corrected the mistake right away. However, the Ttoekbokki had two boiled eggs in it, which was not listed in the description. Because they were already hard boiled, my husband fished the eggs out and there was no harm/no foul. I realize now that the Ttoekbokki Set will not have a description of the stew on the menu, but if you look at Ttoekbokki à la carte, it does list the egg. Regardless, like the Kimpbap there should be the option to remove egg - or put it on the side. The food was excellent! The Ttoekbokki was cooked at our table (after we took out the egg). It consisted of a spicy broth with fish cake, rice cakes, cabbage, green onions, and glass noodles. The fried dumplings and seaweed rolls were filled with glass noodle japchae, and were an awesome treat. The Kimpbap was delicious, and the chicken was perfectly crispy, sweet, and spicy. Just when we thought the meal couldn't get any better, the chef (?) / manager (?) came out and offered to upgrade our remaining broth with cream. Holy moly, it was good! Just when we thought our meal couldn't have gotten better! The chef then gave us tips on how to best enjoy our meal, such as using the Ttoekbokki broth as a dipping sauce for our dumplings. I also dipped one of my Kimpbap in it.... Yum yum! For drink choices I picked Coke but then, I accidentally chose "Milkis" as our other option. It is described on the can as a cream soda, but then says "milk & yogurt" on the can. My husband decided to be the adventurous one and take it, but he offered me a swig. I braced myself for what I imagined would be a fizzy curdled nightmare. Let's just say I ordered my own Milkis and the Coke I ordered came home with us unopened (LOL). Milkis literally tastes like cream soda - like Faygo, A & W, or the like - only better. There were no dessert offerings that we saw but frankly, our bellies probably would have burst had we tried to eat any. The price was very reasonable and we had a lot of leftovers to bring home. I can't say enough about how good K Bunsik's food is. The decor is simple and the seating is comfortable. There were no time limits on our enjoyment. Great experience that we will definitely be repeating!
