Kim Chee Pancake with Green Onion
    Aliya S.

The food was pretty good, a little pricey depending on what you get, but there are some combo deals. I should have gotten the combo because the cold noodle soup had an absorbent amount of buckwheat noodles and only had two small thin slices of beef. So not much protein in it. The kimchi pancake was really good and had a nice crispness to it. The service was okay and the place was nice and clean. I definitely will go back again to try them again

Welcoming from the start - prompt and friendly service. Food came quickly and exceeded my expectations! My first foray into Biminbap - chicken. It was crazy good! The kimchi was the best. What a way to treat myself for my birthday! Thanks Soora - you're bookmarked and going to be someplace I will be coming back to to try other dishes! I should have taken my own photo - it was a beautiful dish!

Have been going to Soora for years and think they have the best chinese korean food! I got the jaengban jjajang this time and definitely recommend it over the regular jjajang if youre going with more than one person. They gave so much seafood and the portion was huge we couldnt finish with two people.

We came with a party of 20+ to celebrate a birthday. Everyone had to order ahead of time so as not to overwhelm the kitchen, but we were able to add on once arriving. The gyoza were amazing and extra crispy, I also had beef bibimbap which was equally as delicious. If you order pop it comes in a can for $2, so there are no free refills.

If you live in west bloomfield area, you are in for a treat if you like Korean food. Small unpretentious authentic Korean restaurant with mostly Korean diners. The food here is full of flavor yet somehow NOT overly salty, powdery (like the other Korean soups I've had), or packed with MSG. We got the seafood pancake, dumpling soup, spicy pork stew, cold noodle, kalbi, and Jjajangmyeon. Seafood pancake: lightly fried, minimal dough, lots of seafood. This is the optimal appetizer and will leave you room for dinner. Dumpling soup: can substitute rice cake for more dumplings. Not spicy. Soup is flavorful. Broth is delicious and very drink-able. Spicy pork stew: Perfectly spicy without being too salty or powdery. Couple pieces of pork bone. Comes with rice. Great if you crave something spicy and savory. Jjajangmyeon - lots of sauce yet...not too salty! very good. Great flavor. This is the essence of Jjajangmyeon. Galbi - this was just average. A bit too greasy. The meat was a bit fatty. This galbi is not better than other places. Service was better than other korean restaurants. Barley tea was served and refilled. Bonchon was served - this was average. Radish, kimchi, etc.. but just not the best tasting. This has the best sit-down Korean dishes (e.g. non barbecue) in my opinion. Will be back!

I don't know Korean food at all. We went off our waitresses recommendations and a little off Yelp recommendations. Wow, so delish. Everything we had was delicious, fresh and wonderfully prepared I tried so hard to remember what we had and I think I got on most of them in the caption, but we started with egg rolls and dumplings. We then had beef rice silver noodles and chicken wings. Every bite was amazing. I think...gyoza, Jap Char and yang nam. Highly recommend!

There are limited parking spots in the front but more in the back. You can enter from the front or the back of the restaurant! We got the mackerel combo which came with seafood soup and rice. We also got the seafood pancake. Everything was soooo good. We also loved the bonchon.

Soora is one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to in metro Detroit. The service was friendly and the food was authentic. The interior felt like a traditional restaurant you'd find in Korea. I had the Soon Du Boo that comes with a bowl of rice and free banchan. You can choose the type of meat or tofu you want in your stew. I will return when I'm craving Korean stews.

This continues to be my favorite and go to stop when I'm craving Korean/comfort food. I recently tried some of the Korean Chinese dishes including the Tang Soo Yuk (sweet and sour deep fried pork) and the Jjajangmyun (black bean noodle). Large portions to share. Highly recommend!

Apparently the food isn't as good as it used to be, but I came in with no expectations given I've never been here before. My friend stopped by for lunch this past Wednesday and there were a couple other tables occupied, but that was it. The service was nice and friendly; they came to check in on us and made sure we had enough banchan. I enjoyed the beansprouts the most, but the seaweed and kimchi (a bit too fermented for me) were great, too. They also give you barley tea in a pot with little ceramic mugs (reminded me of dimsum style) which was nice. The barley tea smelled strong and warmed us up while we eagerly waited for our food. SOONDAE GUK - 15.95 Wow, this was pretty tasty. I haven't had soondae guk too often, but I liked that there was a good amount of spice in the broth. It was savory and "sweetened" by the cabbage and other ingredients in the soup. I really liked the soondae (given on the side) as well, but sadly they only give you 5-6 pieces per order. Overall, this was a very flavorful and soul-warming soup and I'd definitely come here again for it. There were so many mouth-watering options which made it hard for me to choose when looking at the menu. Next time, I would love to order something from the combo menu (galbi or bulgogi with naengmyeon!!), bossam, fried chicken (which I've heard great things about) or their soondubu jjigae.

    Egg Jjim

So Soora is the kind of place that would satisfy the cravings of locals among the targeted ethnicity, but not much else. You know, the "local Korean place". All the dishes we've got (egg jjim, galbitang, oyster pajeon, soondae, bibim mul naengmyeon and kimchi intestines) were quite casually tasty, at a comfortable price, and definitely very Korean. That being said, none of them impressed in any meaningful way, and if you're used to Korean cuisine, then everything was pretty much as expected. C-tier it is. The banchan might feel a bit "Americanized" as per my friend's sentiment (seriously, tomato...), but let's be honest. This is Detroit, and if a place is about to go "full Korean", none of y'all are even gonna eat it. All of the chili-based dishes (kimchi, bibim mul naengmyeon, etc.) had their spiciness toned down quite a bit from "Korean hot" as well, but the flavor was still there. The naengmyeon broth was also a little bit sweet. Aside from that, perhaps the only things worth talking about food-wise are how the oyster pajeon didn't actually have much oyster in it, but you won't notice it just casually dining because of the savoriness of the pancake itself. The honeycomb tripe was also boiled a bit too hard for my liking and had too much of a chew. I also found the restaurant quite cute, despite the initial threatening aura upon arriving at the scene. TL;DR Korean in Detroit. Come if authenticity is what you seek. P.S. This is yet another place I'd rate a 3.5 stars if I could... Also, I forgot to take a picture of the soondae plate. :/

    Jodi F.

In actuality I'd rate Soora 4.5 stars. The food is incredible, the service good but not 5 star, and the choices plentiful. I do like that the restaurant had photos of the food so you had an idea of what each item was. Everything was super flavorful and tasty. The meal starts with a variety of pickled items -- these are free (or included). And we liked all of them. From there we ordered the hot stone bowl with seafood. Wow. So full of muscles, squid, octopus, and more. And the Japchae (clear noodles with beef and vegetables). I wish there was slightly more beef, but it was delicious. I can't wait to come back. This will be on my go to list now!

Takoyaki - tasty. Nothing out of this world 7/10

The food here was great. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. Not pictured was the chicken bibimbap hot stone bowl, but that was also very yummy. Check this place out if you're craving Korean food and near the area!

Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly balanced. The portions were great too. What I really liked is that they also offer the Korean BBQ experience where you can cook your own food at the table, which makes it fun whether you're going with friends or family. If you want authentic Korean food (not watered down), this is definitely the spot. I'll 100% be coming back.

Bibimbap has always been on the pricer side, but I feel they are even more pricer now. The chicken wings are 15$ and you only get 5/6 and a larger 27 for 10. I think that's very expensive. However, I did like the sweet hot flavor of the chicken wings. The bulgogi hot stone bowl was 24$ and the bowl was so small and you didn't even get rice cakes with them. I didn't like no did I hate the flavor. It was definitely more savory than the normal sweetness of bulgogi. The side dishes were lacking sadly. Maybe because it was closer to night, but I did not like the side dishes at all. The barely tea was still good. That was my favorite thing about this place and glad it did not change. The decorations are still kind of the same and it didn't look different. The service was also nice. The person helping us was nice e and we did get checked on. Even when we were done and just socializing we were helped.

This was an interesting experience, and the food was delightful…read more We ordered takeout through their online website, and it was a pretty seamless experience. I tried one of each flavor of chicken for the cupbap, and it was tasty and fresh. Though as a self proclaimed spice wimp, the sweet and spicy was just a bit beyond my tolerance. Still, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it by picking what flavors I wanted. The beef bulgogi kimbap was another winner that tasted fresh and delightful, and while the rice cake kkochi had a very lovely chewy texture, the spice level was just a bit much for me. Oddly enough, the first time I ordered, they messed up my cupbap. Extra annoying considering I had ordered take out and only noticed something was wrong once I was safetly settled back at my desk (I 100% could have checked before I left the restaurant so that bit's on me). I immediately called the restaurant to explain what had gone wrong, and they were incredibly apologetic and wanted to make it right for me immediately. They offered to refund me or make me something fresh. I opted for the latter. Honestly, they went above and beyond to make things right for me, and mistakes happen, so to see a business so plainly own their mistake and make up for it is always a plus in my book. I'll be back. That cupbap made my stomach happy.

K Bunsik is a pretty new establishment; having only been open for 3 months. My husband and I went…read morethere for his birthday, after seeing a video review of the place. We were surprised at its location, as it is a few doors down from a breakfast place we have frequented. We laughed at how we don't really pay attention to the other places in that complex.... The fare is Korean street food, which is a bit different than what one would get at a typical Korean restaurant. The decor of K Bunsik is very simple, with cutesy murals on the wall. There was an array of tables & chairs that were well-spaced, and the chairs were comfortable. When you sit at your table, there is a touch screen menu from which you order your food. The menu was a little confusing, for we were not familiar with the system. We asked a waitress for help and she showed us the easy way of finding the description of the menu items (yes, we felt a little foolish LOL). We ordered the Tabletop Ttoekbokki Set for Two, which came with fried dumpling, fried seaweed, soup and pickled relish sides, and drinks. We also ordered Kimpbap, which is a bulgogi sushi roll, and we ordered fried chicken with soy garlic sauce because .. why not? There was a slight snafu because we ordered the Kimpbap without egg (allergy) but it came with egg anyway. They corrected the mistake right away. However, the Ttoekbokki had two boiled eggs in it, which was not listed in the description. Because they were already hard boiled, my husband fished the eggs out and there was no harm/no foul. I realize now that the Ttoekbokki Set will not have a description of the stew on the menu, but if you look at Ttoekbokki à la carte, it does list the egg. Regardless, like the Kimpbap there should be the option to remove egg - or put it on the side. The food was excellent! The Ttoekbokki was cooked at our table (after we took out the egg). It consisted of a spicy broth with fish cake, rice cakes, cabbage, green onions, and glass noodles. The fried dumplings and seaweed rolls were filled with glass noodle japchae, and were an awesome treat. The Kimpbap was delicious, and the chicken was perfectly crispy, sweet, and spicy. Just when we thought the meal couldn't get any better, the chef (?) / manager (?) came out and offered to upgrade our remaining broth with cream. Holy moly, it was good! Just when we thought our meal couldn't have gotten better! The chef then gave us tips on how to best enjoy our meal, such as using the Ttoekbokki broth as a dipping sauce for our dumplings. I also dipped one of my Kimpbap in it.... Yum yum! For drink choices I picked Coke but then, I accidentally chose "Milkis" as our other option. It is described on the can as a cream soda, but then says "milk & yogurt" on the can. My husband decided to be the adventurous one and take it, but he offered me a swig. I braced myself for what I imagined would be a fizzy curdled nightmare. Let's just say I ordered my own Milkis and the Coke I ordered came home with us unopened (LOL). Milkis literally tastes like cream soda - like Faygo, A & W, or the like - only better. There were no dessert offerings that we saw but frankly, our bellies probably would have burst had we tried to eat any. The price was very reasonable and we had a lot of leftovers to bring home. I can't say enough about how good K Bunsik's food is. The decor is simple and the seating is comfortable. There were no time limits on our enjoyment. Great experience that we will definitely be repeating!
