About a week ago, I decided to leave the office for lunch and enjoy the nice weather! Driving out here was easy, lots of parking and lots of outdoor seating! Shatera is located at one of those mixed properties: restaurants, apartment complex, and cafes. I was greeted very warmly and order a gyro plate for dine-in. My food came in fast and hot - it was a HUGE serving. I enjoyed my meal, but noticed it was just okay compared to other Mediterranean places here in AZ. I found the hummus to be grainy and the ratio of rice a bit much. Also - no pita to go along with all this hummus?

First time here! Service is good. But please have patience while your order gets ready as they make it fresh for everyone. Bit pricey but food was decent. Chicken came out soft and flavorful. Beef Lamb kebab was but dry though. Would go again, as they have good veg/ non-veg options to try. We sat outside, good weather and fresh food. Was fun.

Opened September of 2024 in the Cooley Station area. Shatera offers a variety of authentic Mediterranean dishes, including Halal Shawarma, Kabab Platters, and Falafel. They also include a Middle Eastern breakfast in the AM hours. The shop is located in the Verde complex. It's a little tricky or confusing to get to as you're actually parking in the back (of their business) and have to walk around to the streets sidewalk to get to their front entrance of their restaurant. My boys and I came in today around 3:00 PM. We were the only customers at that time. Cute modern decor. Small section of beautifully bright yellow table tops for seating inside. Tables are extremely tiny, so I had to sit at another alone and not with my guys. However, they also have a nice larger out door space with misters and a dog friendly patio too, but it was way to hot to sit outside. It's an order at the counter with the menu options listed. The staff explained the process of how to select your options, which we appreciated the run down of choices. Plates or pockets- pick your protein preferences. We ALL chose a pocket & I elected to also add fries to my meal. Not too long of a wait. My boys did the chicken pocket and I had the gyro pocket. Mine was pretty standard and the boys chicken tended to be a bit more flavorful than my protein. Somewhat unique that the pocket had BOTH cucumber and dill pickle?! That's the first time I've experienced the two together this way in a Gyro. The fries were good and good size portion yet very little feta cheese. With that said; for the Gyro and fries, tax and tip it was $20.80 with no drink!! Overpriced in my opinion. Staff were pleasant and engaging. Establishment was clean over all, but my table could have used a wiped down after the last customer left, as it was dirty with food debris. If we were to return; it may be a better option to do a plate as it seems for the price point you do get a little more bang for your buck!

Found this new Mediterranean place 15min from my house so decided to try it out since I had a 75min lunch break. It's in a new commercial development with many other new restaurants and shops. Walking up I noticed the patio was extremely busy...potentially a graduation celebration with multiple families. I reviewed the menu and ordered a chicken Shawarma pocket and a fountain drink. The fountain is Jones soda...really a rare find and exciting as I haven't had Jones soda is a few years. Unfortunately they didn't have the crème soda which is my favorite, but I got the Root Beer and sampled a few other flavors. The patrons on the patio were nice to lend me a chair and table as I was standing looking for a place to sit. The food came out pretty quick. The pocket sandwich was good size and overflowing with chicken. The garlic sauce wasn't too strong but gave it good flavor. The chicken shawarma was delicious- tender, spiced and flavorful. The only downside was the lettuce and onion were put in first so it was in the bottom of the pita and I didn't get to it until the chicken was almost all gone, thus only a few bites with all the ingredients. The price was slightly high for just a pocket sandwich and drink with no side, but still enough for lunch. I would return in the future if I'm in the area.

10/10 this was my perfect meal. I got the gyro plate with fries and my husband got the chicken shawerma plate with rice. Both were insanely good and huge portions we definitely could have split one! The employees were so kind and checked on us while we were eating. The inside isn't huge so we sat outside since it was a nice day. Will be coming here all the time!

The food was delicious and portion was good enough to share for 2 people. We tried kebab pocket and other dishes as well. The sauces- garlic, hot sauce and Shatera special really work well with the dishes. I love the . The service was timely, we got our food within 15 mins of our order. Man this place was popping! The wait time for food was about 20 mins, but there were a lot of orders. This would have been 5 stars but the kebab platter I ordered, the meat was very dry. Definitely over cooked. Everything else was very very good!! I don't know what the desert was called but I sure am glad I ordered 2 of them! It was soooo good!! With the kebab platter (or plate), I ate the salad first and wow!! Just wow!! So good! Everything in the platter was top notch, just the meat was dry. I'll come back for sure, hoping they get the meat part right next time! They have nice outdoor seating with the mist system going on, you don't even notice you're outside. Even though the wait was lengthy, it wasn't just a boring 20 minutes, it went by so fast. Great service, even better vibes!

This place has some serious quality of Mediterranean food. It's a simpler menu with roughly 6 variations of different dishes and pita pockets. But let me start off with the pita, thicker, fluffier, and softer than all the other pitas I've had. They make the best pita pocket I've ever had. It is filled with an unreal amount of stuff and the flavors are excellent. You can kind of expect that as soon as you walk in and see the nice modern design and how clean the place is. Now let's move onto the plates, the quantity that you get is very reasonable for the price. I tried every meat and I honestly cannot tell you that any were worse than the other. They were all excellent from the chicken to the beef/gyro. I'm not a big falafel guy, but I had their entire falafel pocket which they nicely top off with eggplant Now let's move onto the drinks, I've never talked about fountain drinks at a restaurant before. But they carry Jones fountain drinks, you know those Jones bottle sodas that we all buy.. they have it on tap! This place is definitely five stars in every way from the people to the food to the atmosphere.

We ordered the Arayes and Shish Tawook pocket for breakfast. The Arayes was unique and flavor filled. The Shish Tawook chicken was well cooked and soft ( unlike burnt or raw pieces I have had the misfortune of consuming at other Mediterranean places) and the portion was lunch sized. We ordered a to go. Docking a star as yelp and the restaurant site noted incorrect opening hours on Sunday at 8am ( it is actually 9 am). We ordered online and were told to " pick up at 8.44 am) leading by spouse to wait more than 30 minutes to pick up the order after the place opened at 9.

We just moved into town and drove by the plaza and saw Shatera so we decided to try it. We are big Mediterranean food lovers and this place did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, robust in flavor and the portion sizes were great. We were served our food fast even though it was busy and we got to sample some dessert which was delicious. Order extra pita because it is delicious and a small but notable mention to the tasty pickles. This is an order at the counter and take it to go or eat outside with misters type of place.

To be fair, the food tastes pretty good. But as other reviews have said, their prices are way too high. $20 for a plate that only comes with one skewer? Kinda crazy. Maybe the pockets are a better deal, but I'm too disappointed to try them again. More expensive than most other Mediterranean places but with half the portions. I can't recommend.

This place just opened up in my neighborhood and I am so thrilled ! We did a takeout of Chicken Shawarma and Shish Tawooq and this place is thus far the most flavorful shawarma I have eaten in AZ ! I saw the 5 star reviews on multiple platforms, we were so excited to have a "phenomenal" Mediterranean place close to our house. We went not long after they opened for the day and first impression was it was dirty sticky floors for just being open for the day. But hey, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe someone spilled and it tracked or the doors were open and debris got in... it happens. We order just fine, they are new so still learning how to put in orders, no big deal. Still excited, then we got our food 15 minutes later and it was good, fine, but not 5 stars. Not phenomenal, not great, just good. No place I'd "crave" or want to go back to. Very surprised at all the 5 star ratings. read more

I've eaten here twice now and love it. I've lived in/visited quite a few countries in the Middle East and this place nails the authentic flavors. The shish tawook sandwich is one of the best I've had. The chicken shawarma plate was good as well, but the sauce was a little sweet for my taste. This was our first time here. The good- Staff is friendly and food was prepared quickly. The bad- the indoor seating is very very limited. We were a party of six and we had to sit two to a table separately. There was only one table that can seat more than two people in the restaurant . The majority of the seating is on the wrap around patio which does you no good on a cold, rainy day. Our biggest complaints were that they served the meat on top of the French fries ! So guess what- you get soggy fries- yuck! In addition you get two microscopic pita breads. We ordered two beef shawarma plates, a beef kabob, and a gyro plate which had the same two microscopic pita triangles ( defeating the purpose of ordering a gyro). We will not return read more

Me and my boys went back again last night... yeah, living 12 minutes away might be a problem ‍. I'm a falafel lady through and through, but I cheated a little and went for the shish tawook pocket -- and HOLY MOLY, it was next-level delicious! The sauce? Perfect. The marinade? Magic. I stopped into the restaurant and the people were great, very friendly and helpful. The wait for food was long, which I was prepared for as I saw something saying that, but was not told it from the staff or any expected wait time. The soda machine was out of most flavors without any notice as I was buying a soda and the remaining options were very light on syrup. After awhile someone complained and they turned something on and we all filled up and then I noticed they turned it off again. Not sure why, but it was disappointing as I paid for a soda and food wasn't cheap. I got the food and it was "ok", we were unimpressed. Quantity, flavor, overcooked beef (charred black completely), etc. Sauces were good. read more

Wow !!! I went to the grand opening and the food is top-quality. The portions are really big and everything taste very fresh. Shawarma is one of my absolute favorite dishes, and this had some of the best shawarma I've tried. I'm so glad we tried this place while we were in town for the weekend. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and everyone we interacted with was so kind and friendly. Even people who didn't work there but knew the owners helped us and were so polite. The food was fresh but I'm used to more authentic Middle Eastern. This was more Americanized. This was all of my party thought. Service was nice and the restaurant was clean. The surrounding area looked nice and new. But one restroom didn't have a locking door or soap. Both were really low on TP. read more

Went here for lunch with my fiance and it did not disappoint! We got a kebab wrap + falafel wrap and it was delicious-- stuff with protein, flavor and vegetables-- they definitely do not skimp with ingredients here. Took an hour from online ordering to receive food. It was given to the wrong person and they had to remake my food because it looked like crap. It looked like the other person shook it around. These basics always make or break such a restaurant, and they were all outstanding. Add to this seldom-seen delights like foul medamas (fava-bean soup), four variants of ghallabah (grilled meats or seafood), chack-chouka/shakshuka (eggs poached in tomatoes and onions), and two types of pita baked on premises and served from the oven--all in generous portions and at reasonable prices--and it's worth the drive wherever you are in Phoenix and environs. She said she'd bring out the pee-packaged pita bread and the fresh bread that we paid extra for. Then she never brought out the pee-packaged stuff like she said she was going to. The bread was ok, but they only gave us 3 pieces of pita bread which were about the size of a sand dollar. This was not enough bread for 2 people with 3 dips. Also, the fries were the kind of fries you get when it looks like they haven't cleaned the grease in a while. The babaganoush was really good. But everything else was pretty mediocre. I've been here 3 or 4 times and everytime I feel as though the service is bad and the food is overpriced. It's really sad, but I want to like this place, but I can't. Also, they have a rewards program but my waitress didn't try to get me to sign up. I asked when I saw it. It's a pet peeve of mine. But- I guess she doesn't really care or offer it because she probably doesn't think people will come back. My friend who joined me tonight is Muslim and she needed a place to pray, but this place didn't have one. I was surprised to learn that tonight as well. Spend your money elsewhere.

We did not have a reservation and the only open seating was at the bar or high tops in the bar area. We were quickly greeted and our server was incredibly on top of it! I noticed that the main menu had a line at the bottom that stated a gluten-free menu would be available upon request. I did ask to see this menu as gluten-free is my dietary preference, not an allergyand I was brought a complementary gluten-free bun instead of the pretzel bread. I thanked our server and told him not to worry that it was just a preference and he told me that he treats all gluten friendly requests as an allergy. I really appreciated the care and concern he had for my health and well-being. This is unprecedented at most restaurants. They had a very extensive gluten-free menu and I can't wait to go back and try so many more items. We did try the Leonard burger and made quite a few modification requests - all of which were 100% accommodated. This burger was so incredibly juicy! Finally, the baby back ribs were the star for me personally because you can actually taste the pork for its quality. I usually expect a super sweet sauce that bogs me down after with ribs, but these ones left me feeling able to still go on about my day which I love. They aren't shake off the bone tender but I liked the gentle chew they provide. Overall, I recommend Joe's to anyone who cares more about the ingredient sourcing and quality while enjoying a nice family friendly vibe for a lunch/dinner. They have a great outdoor patio seating for times when it's not over 100 degrees.

I live in California now, but I would recommend Caldwell County to anyone in Arizona, especially people in the East Valley who somehow have not tried it yet. This is genuinely some of the best barbecue I have had. The meats are flavorful, the portions are satisfying, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage has just the right amount of heat without overpowering everything else. It is the kind of food that sticks in your memory long after you leave. Honestly, if I lived close to the Power Road location, I would have a very difficult time staying away. Absolutely worth a visit.

The meat dishes were cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and full of authentic flavor. The salad was fresh and vibrant, the perfect complement to the rich and savory meat. I tried the gyro plate at Shatera and it instantly became one of my favorite meals. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly no dryness at all. The portions were legit generous, and everything on the plate tasted fresh, from the warm pita to the crisp veggies. The tzatziki was super flavorful and tied the whole dish together.
