We had a great experience with Shasta. We did several projects at once including new cap tile, new waterline tile, the ​addition of a baja shelf, removal of a diving board, completely​ resurfacing the pool from plaster to a micro finish, and capping our old pop up cleaning system in exchange for installation of a dedicated vacuum​ line. I called three different companies for quotes, and while Shasta came in on the higher end of those quotes, it was well worth the money spent for the awesome communication and customer service throughout the process. We worked with Brent Wilde in sales on the front end to determine exactly the work that would be completed and the finishes to be used. He was great about keeping in touch and keeping our project moving forward. Once we were ready to start the remodel, I was put in touch with Crystal. Crystal would call almost daily to review the work that was completed that day, and to let me know the next day that someone would be onsite, and ​followed up with the work that they would be doing. We also had a supervisor, Gary, who would stop by regularly to check progress and was available to answer questions. We are so happy with the finished pool and the process that it took to get there. Our project took around three weeks from start to finish. As with any construction, we ran into some additional expenses, but Shasta was up front and communicative about both, and kept the costs as minimal as possible. If you want to work with a company who is kind, communicative, does quality work, and does what they say they are going to do, Shasta is who you will want to call. read more

We have not just had a problem with the chiller; we had many other issues dealing with Shasta. The placement of our pool was incorrect in the backyard and had to be adjusted, we asked for a saltwater pool, and a chlorine system was installed, they installed the wrong tile that had to removed and replaced with the correct pattern, and delay after delay. What was sold to us was not delivered; dealing with Shasta Pools has been a complete hassle. Shasta has too many subcontractors and has no control over the project. This review is specifically related to the remodeling and sales department at Shasta Pools, not an actual store location. We have a nice inground pool that was built with the home in 1979. The pool liner was replaced in 2009 and is in great condition. However the pool deck surface is the original deck (other than having been re-painted at some point). The deck surface is chipping in several areas and it's time to be completely resurfaced. Since we have a Shasta pool, we requested a quote from Shasta, to be considered along with quotes from other contractors. The sales representative showed up on time for the appointment, was professional, courteous and thorough. That's as much positive as I can say, as it goes downhill from here. When he was looking at the chipped areas, he "observed" there was more than one layer that needed to be removed, so extra labor would be assessed. That was the first hint of the gouging that was to come. (All pool deck surfaces are applied in multiple layers as part of the process and resurfacing requires the removal by grinding down to the actual concrete surface). The pool deck area is roughly 600 square feet, and the quote came in at over $6100, and that was after a $500 " coupon discount" AND an additional "5% discount" was applied, as the original price was almost $7000 before those "discounts". The sales rep made sure to boast that Shasta was the only "master pool builder" in the area, and how many thousands of pools they had installed since the company was founded decades ago. He also stipulated that they are the only company offering a 5 year warranty on their work. Those are probably accurate claims which I do not refute. So I asked about the length of the project and the payment terms. He quoted me 7-10 days on the project, and said 50% was due up front, and the remaining 50% would be due after the surface stripping, but before the new material was installed. I felt my head spin in a "double take" fashion and I asked him to repeat that, as I thought I heard him wrong. He then repeated the terms and clarified that yes, the final payment is required BEFORE the job was completed. He said that is standard in these projects and "all contractors have that same requirement in this industry". So, we received 4 other quotes for the same work scope, and all of them quoted a 2 year warranty on the work. Three of them quoted a 3 to 4 day project time, and those 3 all came in at $2300-$2400 on the total price of the resurface project. The 4th bid came in at $2900 with a 7 day project length. All 4 of these other contractors have A+ ratings with the BBB, as that is something I always check before hiring a contractor. Also, all of the other 4 companies required 50% payment up front and the remaining 50% AFTER the job is completed. So in summary, the price that was quoted from Shasta was almost triple the price of most of the other contractors, required payment before the job is completed, and a much longer time to complete the job. I cannot speak to the quality of their work or their service, as I did not hire them. However, I do encourage anyone considering a pool installation or remodeling project to make sure you do your homework and receive multiple bids and ask a lot of questions, then get any quotes, terms, and details in black and white before making your final selection. Personally, based on this experience, I will not be considering Shasta for ANY work on my pool from this point forward. read more

We were working with Paulo at Shasta Pools to get the pool design we wanted within our price limit. Paulo was not helpful in his suggestions (i.e., we told him we wanted a rectangular contemporary pool and he would present a drawing for a round oasis type pool) There weres MANY lags in communication, from when we would leave Paulo voice mails or emails and the time when he would get back to us. Paulo continually complained that email didn't work and wasn't efficient. (Seriously? What century are you in?!!) At the end of the month, there were "special deals" that were expiring as they wanted to pressure you in to signing. Then Paulo would be busy and not get back to us and say "don't worry, I will take care of you as you are my special customers and I will make sure you get this deal next month." When we got to signing, Paulo tried to pressure us into signing for a bigger pool. We didn't want a bigger pool. He then lowered the price on the bigger pool. When we tried to understand why he couldn't offer the same incentives on our smaller pool design, Paulo wouldn't phone us back. We finally had enough of this frustrating experience and looked on yelp to discover that Thunderbird Pools had 5 stars. From the first phone call to Lisa at Thunderbird to dealing with Cohl the whole experience was different. We wasted months with Shasta and from when we started talk to Thunderbird till we signed to move forward with the pool it was less than 2 weeks - and they love email! RUN! Do not walk, run as a fast as you can from these guys. We ONLY went with Shasta because our new home builder would not allow any other pool builders on their job sites. Having 2 older dogs, we really wanted to have a swim ready pool at closing and not have to deal with workers in our yard that will stress them out, and have to live within a construction zone. We are paying cash, so none of this was attached to our mortgage. We met with the rep and honestly from the get go it was not a great feeling. When we said that we had a $40K budget for a pool we were literally laughed at. We thought that was reasonable for a tiny play pool (30' x 5' and 4.5 feet deep) We ultimately did have more money we could move to the pool budget but we are getting a very small pool and it is almost $58K. FYI we did price with other companies and same pool was $10K-$15K less, but we made the choice to go with it just for the convenience of having our pool done prior to move in. I know we live in some challenging times. My house was originally supposed to close in October, but during construction they had some supply issues. We ultimately closed in mid-December. Shasta was given the green light to go into our yard in October by the builder. They kept assuring us and the builder that we would still have a swim ready pool by close. As the days where turning into weeks and still no movement on the project, and dozens of emails from myself and the builder, they finally decided to tell us that they could not have it ready in December and it would have to be after close. We are not unreasonable and only asked for communication. When my builder had delays, they were upfront about it. Shasta was not and kept lying to us knowing it was not going to happen. I was told before close I am looking at a swim ready pool within 2-4 months. I thought that the issues would end there but they have only become worse! I was told that the excavation crew would be out on the Monday after close, they did not show up until Thursday. I was told someone would call with plumbers to be scheduled and they just showed up one day. No notice no call. I contacted them numerous times and have begged them for communication, so I know what is happening and I still get no calls, no notifications of when people are coming or going. Which makes it difficult as they have interrupted numerous Zoom calls while I am working. I have to go out unlock my gate and clear a path as they need to walk through the tiny area my dogs have on the side yard while my yard is a mess. Rebar crew showed up two days later no notice, interrupting my work. When I mention this to them, everyone just points fingers at everyone else and take ZERO responsibility. We are now waiting for electrical and gas. Numerous emails later no one can tell me anything. Total lack of any communication! By the way if I go by their timelines my pool may not even be ready until mid summer now or 6-9 months past the promised date. Recap - You get laughed at, lied too, have total lack of communication, no-one willing to take responsibility, and you get to pay thousands more than other builders for them to treat you like crap. What a deal! Not to mention that I have a huge hole in my backyard with steel bars, with zero barriers to protect my dogs or people in the yard. So I cannot let anyone or my dogs use my yard. Edit: Our project with Shasta is complete. After a slow start and a few bumps along the way, we're very happy with the finished product. I'm holding back one star just due to the fact that it took so long. 4 months from contract to completion. But the finished product is beautiful and we're looking forward to getting years of enjoyment out of it. I hope I get an opportunity to increase this star rating. But at this point in the process, I think 2 stars is generous, but a couple people I've interacted with have been pleasant so I couldn't go with 1 star. And it's still pretty early in the process. All we have in our backyard, so far, is a red line painted in the shape of our future pool. We signed our contract and paid a deposit 2 months ago. Then it took Shasta almost a month to send in our permitting paperwork. And now, even though they have told me that we've been sent to construction, nobody has been able to provide me the faintest idea of a completion schedule. Since when to contractors not provide construction schedules? I know in my industry we wouldn't last very long. All I want, at this point, is an apology for taking so long to get my paperwork to the city for permit approval and for Shasta to commit to an expedited construction schedule and provide a completion date estimate. Lifetime warranty on the in-floor cleaning system: If you're the original owner of a Shasta swimming pool, some parts have a lifetime warranty. Yesterday I noticed my in floor cleaning system wasn't working as designed. I took the distribution box apart and found the plastic gear assembly was worn. I took that assembly to Leslie pools in Tempe where you must take it. They gave me a new replacement without any charges. You must show a valid ID so that they can verify that you=re an original Shasta Pool Owner--no issue with that.The same warranty applies to the pop head cleaning heads. The cost of the gear assembly would have been $129.99 but no charge due to warranty. They gave me full instructions to install this part--they weren't needed as I know the system--very easy repair. read more

Not only have we had a large hole and landscape torn apart for 4 months, we have had ZERO communication as to when our project will be complete or when someone will even show up to start work again! If I could give a lower score I would. So far in our experience with Shasta we have been lied to, ignored and completely inconvenienced. Doug, our design Consultant shook my hand and assured us that our pool would be completed 6 weeks after moving in. That 6 weeks has come and gone now and all we have to show for it is a whole in our yard and a 6 week wait till plumbing "might" be scheduled. On top of this we paid in advance to have our pool dug before we moved in, that didn't happen! They showed up the day we were moving in, the most inconvenient time imaginable! Remember, we paid FOR CONVENIENCE!!! luckily the incompetence was in full display as they brought the wrong equipment, what a joke. Outside of all this, we have a completion date agreed upon between us the home builder and escrow which they communicated they will not stand by. If that's not enough, Nicole, our project coordinator informed us she would be seeking a extension on our agreement with our home builder. You read that right the first time! She disrespected me directly by communicating to me of her intentions as if I HAVE NO SAY IN MY HOME AND THIS PROCESS! That's not even everything! Our pool build is right off our house, 3ft, so the dig in parts are right against our foundation. With the rains happening and to come we are having erosion that is concerning to our foundations stability. With all the horror stories I'm reading now about Shasta I'm worried in 6 months we'll have real issues!! I emailed Nicole and have been ignored, she emailed back on a separate email avoiding our concerns all together. I just want my pool to be done! Our experience with Shasta began months ago, when we started to build a new home. After the home and site were selected, we met with a Shasta designer, Dean, and he patiently helped us create the pool of our dreams. However, due to unforseen circumstances, we ended up switching homesites, and the second homesite, being smaller, necessitated a redesign of our pool and surrounding area. Once again, we met with Dean, and once again, he patiently and graciously helped us plan out everything we wanted. Given that this was our first pool, he had to answer a lot of questions as well as explain a lot of the technology behind Shasta's equipment to us, but he did it all with a smile and years of experience to back him up. Throughout the entire process, Dean was responsive to any and all questions/concerns and always got back to us right away. Our build coordinator, Danielle, was equally professional and patient, because again, we had so many questions along the way. She worked with our pool foreman, Dwayne, to provide constant communication regarding our build. Like Dean, Danielle was quick to respond to any questions/concerns we had along the way. The pool went in on schedule, thanks to scrambling on the Shasta end through no fault of their own; we had a delay with the building of our home on the builder's end, which put Shasta unnecessarily slightly behind schedule. Danielle and Dwayne, however, were on top of things and made sure that things were caught up in time for closing. After the pool was installed and functioning, we were given a thorough orientation, and the foreman came back to meet with us to make sure we were happy with the results. We had one small issue with the finished pool, but between our foreman and the manager of Shasta's Customer Care division, who both contacted us personally, the problem was handled quickly by an experienced Tech who not only remedied the issue, but also took time to answer more questions for us. The pool has run flawlessly ever since and looks beautiful. Consequently, we couldn't be happier. He is very experienced and not only replaced the pump, he explained the maze of pool valves, and fixed the non-working aerator valve. James is fast, very experienced, and I'm now confident that I understand how my pool's pump and various valves actually work. Please do NOT waste your time or worse, your money on this company. The remodel division, specifically Season the manager and her project manager Lindsey Piechot are unprofessional, u reliable and not a company to go with. We have been dealing with them since December 21, 2021 where they told us they would start demo April 20 to 20 21 between 8 and 10 AM. It is now 7:17 PM and the demo crew is still not here and no communication whatsoever from the project manager Lindsay or her general manager who doesn't care or know what's going on with her people. The only response we received was Lindsay saying she did not know where her crew was. How can you not know where your crew is? And as a project manager that is not my problem you should have a Plan B. They don't even offer a 1% back on our contract after we explained this is a breach contract considering we rearranged and scheduled our day specifically for the demo of the pool yet nothing has been done. The mgr's response was you can cancel the contract if you'd like. Is this a company you wanna deal with some a company that 'punks' versus working with you and taking responsibility for their mistakes which they have made Manny since day one with the person they sent out to take measurements park in the wrong way and then yelling at my husband because he was on his phone I need to finish his conversation first two assigning us to a project manager who has no clue what she's doing yet according to the manager she's gotten so many rave reviews and it such a positive influence on the company -how can that be? We told the manager we had some very unprofessional text messages and all said was "send me the screenshots" am -really that's what you want? At this point we just cancelled the contract. We figured we're having so many issues and they can't even get it straight for demo day, what is it going to be if there's a warranty issue? We are so done with this company we've wasted so much time and effort, we're done so this is a fair warning to all of you out there DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT go with this company! For a year and a half Shasta has been trying to build me a pool at Sun City Festival. It is a smaller 9800 gallon pool and they are no closer to finishing than they where a year ago. Constant changes in field managers, contact numbers for both my FM and her sup Jeff Star have full voicemails and contact is spotty at best. Constantly broken promises and pool workmanship and broken equipment installed. My backyard looks like a bomb went off in it and now come to find out from the city of Buckeye that the permits are completely wrong. shyster pools has made this entire project an absolute nightmare. If I where you I would most definitely go with someone else. As for me, I am screwed. No other builder wants to take over the project from another builder so I am stuck at shyster pools mercy for when they want to "get around" to finishing my pool. Other residents out here all have a similar experience. Pulte Homes this is on you, you recommended them to all the new buyers and just like everything else you turn your back on us. ***WARNING*** I do not recommend using Shasta pools and Spas for your new pool. I signed up for my pool on 4/15/21. I still don't not have my pool. They said the pool would be done by October, they didn't even start digging until Beginning of December. Plumbing and Rebar went in the end of December. Was told they were 10 DAYS behind on electrical...still not done 10 WEEKS later. They do not communicate, unless they want their money. With my down and my 1st installment I am already 12,000 into a whole in the ground. I have 4 small children and I have no backyard for them to play in. Also I have a very dangerous open hole that if they fell into they would kill themselves. I have 2 friends that signed in May for a new pool with other companies and their projects were both done by November. When I signed up for my pool I was so excited to use Shasta, I couldn't have been more wrong. Do yourself a huge favor... do not use Shasta for anything. If you are building a pool in Arizona, you have to use Shasta. From the design phase to the finished product, the entire team was outstanding. Dean helped us design our dream pool and listened to all our needs. He was professional throughout the entire process and was very knowledgeable of the equipment and options. Caroline and Mark were instrumental in the completion of the project. Caroline was always available and kept us in the loop on all timing and scheduling. Mark was over at the house whenever something needed his attention and he went above and beyond to make sure the quality of the work was nothing less than to the highest of standards. NO NO NO AND NO. Do not use Shasta Pools. I'd give them zero stars if I could. We are having so many issues with them. From the very minute my travertine deck and patio were installed we told them it was installed incorrectly. They wouldn't listen and insisted it was correct. At this same time we contacted our sales person to complaint that the wrong color of travertine was installed - again the insisted it was correct. So now here we are six months later with decking that is falling apart and we have to suffer through the inconvenience of having it reinstalled - not to mention taking time off work (money out of our pockets) They are still insisting that the travertine is the correct color - which it is not - we've even had the supplier tell us it is not the color we selected. At this point we have offered to pay for all new materials. Even with that they want to charge us half the labor to remove and install since the patio pavers are "stable". Seriously..........do not use Shasta. I can however highly recommend California pools. California pools built our first pool back in 1997 and also remodeled the same pool 5 years ago. They are awesome to work with. They truly care about their customers and customer satisfaction is their main goal. Unlike Shasta who only cares about money........ read more

The appointment was for 9am, at 11am I called to see why they weren't here , after giving my name I was put on hold for 5 minutes. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE SERVICE DEPT : I have a Shasta Pool that is about 8 years old. Recently I needed some service for an underground leak and some other equipment failure related issues. Based on poor experiences that I have received from other companies, I decided to call Shasta Pools Service dept this time to come fix the issues. I figured that if they did not fix it right, they would offer a better warranty than some of the other companies that I have dealt with. I received great service setting up my appointment through Kathy (602-532-3887). The technicians that came out to my home (Joe & Felix for the leak & James J for the other issue) were all professional, clean cut, courteous and they did a great job both during the job and after when they cleaned up the area. They were on time for both appointments and when they estimated how long the work would take, they were spot on in their time estimates. Overall, I am very satisfied with the support that I received from Shasta Pool Service and their price is on par with the other companies that I have had come out to do work on my pool systems. I will be calling Shasta for future service needs going forward. Nice job folks! read more

We used Shasta for a pool in a new construction home and found them to be hit or miss across most areas. Our salesman was pretty unprofessional, standing us up at one appointment and not being prepared for another which forced a reschedule, wasting a Saturday morning for my wife and I. I reviewed the proposed drawing and decking and the measurements seemed off. after running it by our landscaper, it was confirmed that they had incorrect decking heights. Glad I reviewed their work... Throughout construction, we were kept in the loop on progress which was great. Their service team also did a great job initially in dealing with service calls. My one complaint since has been that we received a free one year filter clean from them where they would come out to clean the filter and teach us how to do it. What I did not realize was that it expired at the one year mark. When I called to ask if they would still honor it a month past expiration, they declined to and said I would need to pay $150. I would expect most other companies to honor a simple offer like this after buying a pool that is multiple tens of thousands of dollars, but they did not. Very disappointing. As a whole, I have trouble recommending Shasta. The pool itself is great, but poor sales and design service along with poor customer accommodation really hurt our experience. read more

Omg! I am so glad we looked up these reviews. We have already started making payments on our pool loan for a pool that has only been "painted." Communication has been non-existent for us too. The pool should have been done by now and they haven't even started! I think that our salesperson Steve is the only one who knows what's going on at that place. Unfortunately it takes more than one person to get this job done. So the question is, do we back out and lose the deposit? After reading all the reviews and now knowing what we have to look forward to, I am confident the deposit will be hardly a loss!! So frustrating! read more

Finally finished the pool on July 25th. It is beautiful and I hope that the quality is so good I can change my mind on the company.

We had Shasta come out to help fix up our old Paddock pool a year ago, started in June of 2018 and finished in July. To begin with, the dates we were told the work would be done were a lie. We provided our down payment and the work did not begin as promised but almost a month and a half later. Consequently, the pool was not ready when we had been told and a large family gathering had been planned around their supposed completion date. Not happy about that. ,Regarding the work done, we agreed to have the pool replastered, grind down decking and refinish, SUPPOSEDLY fix cracks in decking and recalk around coping...all for close to $13,000. We did not buy the most expensive surfaces for $1000's more as we THOUGHT we could trust Shasta and their products would be good for at least TWO years and we thought by having Shasta we would be guaranteed good work. Well, the "fixed" cracks resurfaced bigger than ever through the "new" decking within a couple of months. Apparently they won't repair those under warranty but they knew the cracks would likely show up again in selling new surfacing, just didn't tell us. The water drainage we used to have along the decking was sealed off so that water seeped under the decking and created upheaval of joints and areas of the deck and caused some MAJOR destruction of the decking. When Shasta was confronted about this, we were told that the upheaval was likely there prior to the work being done and they should not have proceeded. But oh well, our problem now. Eventually they agreed to deal with the fake (blocked) grated area they had placed over old drainage by filling it with concrete and do a "courtesy" repair of the seriously exfoliated and cracked areas of the decking by the joints. The filled concrete area is now concave so any rain or cleaning of the deck with water has to be swept off and staining of the decking in those areas is almost impossible to get rid of. They advised us to put up a gutter over the decking, which we did for another $400... but the decking still requires cleaning at times and requires hard core sweeping to remove the dirty water. Did I mention the CRACKS in the decking..? We still have those and they are growing! And finally, the cheap plastic steps they installed on the side of our diving pool (there had been ceramic ones...we were not given an option), emit some yellow slime that is very difficult to clean away given the nature of the indentation of the steps. This slime STAINS the plaster around the steps and beyond. Overall, the pool looked great the first couple of months...and then all the problems began. After just cleaning the decking this morning, sweeping and sweating and noticing the intensity of the cracks increasing, I am so displeased with Shasta and would not recommend them. read more

When we moved to Phoenix we knew that a pool was a must. Shasta built our pool without any problems whatsoever and at a good price too! Such a refreshing experience compared to the last time we had a pool built. read more

This is our second pool we have built with Shasta. It is the worst possible decision we could have made. This process started back in April for us and we still have an unfinished pool!!! From the sales design to the construction we have had nothing but problems! DO NOT GO WITH SHASTA!!!!! read more
