I have to start this review with an apology. My first review was not accurate and based on emotions not facts. I apologize to Shasta Pools & Spas and their employees they are a great company whose employees are very professional and very good at what they do. It has been 3 months since we signed the contract for our new pool and still nothing. Has been a horrible experience so far. The pool was designed materials were picked out and still getting the runaround. I've called the office to get an update from the GM and never received a call back. The PM called me to tell me everyone is looking at our pool now. Well that was 3 weeks ago and still all we have is an outline of where are pool will be. I'm hoping I can provide a more positive update. No sewer line, gas lines or electrical lines are in the way. I was highly satisfied with Ray our technician who is excellent in his field and was always there for me during the build of my pool. Ray is defineatly an expert in his field and extremely responsive when I needed him. Ray went over the operating system with me and gave me guidance with all my questions and gave me good on hands training on it. Ray continues to be available when I need him and indeed is a true professional in his trade. Alexis my program manager of the project always kept things going on the build and contacted the necessary personnel thru all the build processes and monitored and worked out any issues that were coming up. Alexis is extremely good in her job. Hunter came out when we were ready for the pool system orientation and provided a great class for us. We are very happy with our pool and want to thank who ever else we missed on this review. read more

Update: As of 9-13-2022, our pool has been finished, treated, and ready to swim in. the Project Superintendent, Troy, came out to clean up some overspray on the waterline tiles on 9-27-22, so we are officially done. The pool looks beautiful and all workers (chippers, drain install, finish crew, Start-up crew, etc) all very professional in addition to other folks we hired referred by Shasta (tile repair and light install). There were also a additional items that Shasta took care of as a part of the process that I feel were over and above the minimum. The only issue we has was a pretty consistent need to be in contact with everyone involved throughout the project in order to have some sense of what was going on and when (some degreee of that may have to do with me just needing to know) All-in-all, it took longer than expected, but we are happy that our new pool was done in time for a month or so of swimming, and hopeful that it will hold up as well as it is purported to read more

Pool quotes vary widely. Lots of research is required. As our pool has been recently completed, I can only speak to right now but will provide updates later. So here are the bullet points: - Everyone was helpful, available, knowledgeable, and highly skilled. From construction segments to customer service, top notch people! - Modern, high tech, efficient equipment. Your pool will be better than one 5 or 10 years ago! - Timeline: Ours felt lengthy but we are currently in the trifecta: Pandemic, down economy, and demonstrations. So not bad - 6 mos. - Plenty of options so you MUST see the design center in person! - Bottom Line: Talk with multiple pool owners and get multiple quotes. My husband and I just had a pool installed by Shasta and couldn't be happier with the job and the service! Every step of the way has been easy and well orchestrated by all parties involved. We bought a new build so we had to do our landscaping right as the pool was being completed. Shasta made sure they waited to do the final texture until after all the dust feom our landscaping was completed and then they finished our pool. Well Shasta finally showed up to do the "interior" of the pool weeks late of course. Then after it sat for the weekend someone came for what the call the "start up" which they seemed excited about he was there less then an hour explaining nothing didn't put baskets in the skimmers which aren't working anymore plus he put the lids on the pump and leaf baskets backwards and left with the filters cylinder leaking!!! Shasta pools have the big boy attitude. Since we are Shasta pools we don't have to worry about customer service our name carries enough weight. We have had several scheduling issues with the installation of our pool. Our salesman literally told me once he gets the contract signed he was done. The communication with Shasta and the team is very disappointing. Scheduling has been a nightmare. I hope the pools live up to the Shasta hype because dealing with there team has not been worth it. read more

Photo was taken a YEAR after the process was started with Shasta. Started the process June 11, 2021, photo taken June 11, 2022. The wait for electrical was two months, now we wait until September 2022 for shotcrete. Wish I could tell you how long it will be after shotcrete, but we have no idea, no response or timeline from Shasta. -It took them NINE (9) months to get the permit and start the dig -Plumbing was installed in the wrong area -Plumbing was then moved and broken, then repaired -2-3 months for Shotcrete now -Little to no communication, response to emails, NO response to calls. -Casey sold us the pool, told us we'd be swimming by the next summer-lied. He left Shasta, moved to CA, and they forgot about us for 3 months. Called when they found a mistake in Casey's plans and asked for MORE $$$. They will tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign, then deliver vague promises and no real information. EVERYTHING is delayed even though other pool companies are building pools within 6 months. AVOID Shasta. If we could give them ZERO stars, we would. What a nightmare. read more

For anyone looking to build a pool, stay far away from Shasta Pools. We signed a contract with Shasta on June 26th, 2021, to build a new pool. We were advised of a 5 month timeframe before anything would happen. Then things would move along "quickly". The promised eta of completion of the build was to be completely done by early summer (as early as april). According to the promised timeline, excavation should have begun by December or or early January. Instead, excavation began on March 10th. The crew was also supposed to demo (removing trees and rock) our entire yard for the pool decking and landscaping. Unfortunetly, only the dig portion was completed and nothing else. I immedietly let my point at contact at Shasta know of the situation, and as of this writing (12 days later), we still have no idea on when they will come back to finish the demo, nor do we have a timeline when rebar, plumbing, electical, and remaining work will happen afterwards. I have sent emails, texts, and voice messages without any response, or a firm and favorable answer. Most of my correspondance, however, go flat out ignored. Looking at reviews online suggest that I am in danger of facing many more months of delays, and our early summer completion date is in jeapordy (at this rate, our pool conatruction will be completed in fall of 2022 or early 2023). In comparison, my friend signed with California Pools in november and already has excavation, rebar, and plumbing done, so this is a Shasta problem. I want someone to contact me and get this going, so we can get our pool done by early summer as promised. ***Update 3/23/2021*** I posted a condensed version of above wording on Shasta Pools twitter page and full text on their facebook page. do your due diligence, you will regret doing business with Shasta. called for warranty issues, first tech said "yup" it's broke, but had no idea how to fix it, and could not even touch anything other than the motor. waisted my time, there was zero follow up, I had to call. the service person (Shasta service center) was so rude I thought it was a joke. it was not. Shasta, if you are at all interested, I will provide the name. when I finally got through, I was told that the next available tech was 11 days away for warranty work. asked to speak to someone in charge. was ignore. no follow up as promised. they sent an unqualified tech, that we waited for, and now we are at the back off the line. once's they have your money for the pool build you are meaningless , and an obvious burden. Regret is the best you will get working with this company. DO NOT fall for the slick sales pitch. Run away. There are other companies that actually care about customers. read more

Our neighbor is getting a pool. Never in a million years would I go with this careless company. Trashed all our plants with their tractor and never once said "oh let us replace those for you, we are sorry." Left all 5 of them completely mauled from their tractor. Moved our garbage cans out of the way to get in with their equipment and didn't put the cans back in the street. I don't give bad reviews unless you disrespect people and their home just to get a quick buck. Your reviews on communication have a trend.....You DONT care about customer service. A little background on my pool, I had a bad leak by the filter which flooded the area and ruined 2 pool pumps! Nightmare.. I can't give enough positive praise about Deborah D. who setup the appointment for me and put up with my million questions. She sent Ray Hundley out to install 2 new pumps and fix the leak for me. Ray was amazing! He also put up with my millions of questions and did an amazing job! He explained everything in detail, left the worksite spotless when he left and tackled a horrible leak! I could write a lot of details about the repair but I won't. I don't like calling anyone to fix my stuff but Ray changed my mind. I'd trust Shasta and Ray to fix my pool again anytime! Construction was awful.... lack of communication, cancelled last minute and avoided calling us about anything that was going on. 3 yrs later and their service department is no better. Takes 4 weeks to get an appointment and they have no problem cancelling the day of. Not willing to work with customer to reschedule. And, the techs all do the same job differently and vomplain about each other's work. Will never use them again. read more

Communication and customer service was non-existent. They painted the pool the wrong color and then laughed and told us "maybe you'll end up liking it." Did not update the program they wanted us to use (Builder Trend) and we ended up overpaying before the pool was even finished. Took 6 weeks to get our money back. Would get emails at the END of the day from Alexis Florio (the supposed "coordinator") saying the workers would not be there that day. The rest of the time, random people would show up in the backyard and we had no idea they were coming. Broke irrigation pipes and when we asked when they were going to fix them so they could continue the process, they told us our HOA should fix them. Told us we were the ones that had to get SWG to come out and inspect the gas installation as SWG wasn't responding to Shasta's emails. Customer service wise, they never returned phone calls and took up to a week to get back to us with emails. Installed equipment with no manual on how it works. Have had 4 service people out to help us figure things out. Still trying to get the owner of the company to call me. I've left four messages. For a big ticket item such as a pool, you would expect decent customer service. I would NEVER recommend this company and would advise to run the opposite direction. read more

Not sure I got the best quality compared to other pools I've built. Loose and cracked travertine that they will not fix. Shasta is the absolute best pool company. We were treated exceptionally well right from the time we walked in the door. They have a nice, although kind of dated, office with multiple pools to look at. The designer was extremely helpful. He built exactly what we wanted, not just what he wanted to sell. You could tell he just wanted to help us 'build our outdoor lifestyle' as he put it. Their quality of work is top notch. We even worked a fantastic deal for landscaping since they had a 50% off promotion going. We did not even know they did landscaping, so it was a welcome surprise to get everything done at one time. Called to ask a simple pool question, thinking because Shasta installed our pool, they would know the answer to a very simple question or be able to direct me to someone who might be able to help. The woman I spoke with was literally one of the rudest most unprofessional individuals I've ever talked with over the phone. It was surreal. Shasta Pools came to my home to provide an estimate for installation of a hand rail. After 2 weeks and multiple phone calls, including a return call from the Warranty Service manager saying I should have something the following week, I still do not have an estimate. It's pretty safe to assume that at this point I have no interest in hiring a company to do work when they can't even get an estimate out the door for a simple job. Red flag for their ability to complete work on time let alone resolution of any problems that might come up. read more

Unaware pool service was scheduled I arrive hone to fund a van parked in front of our driveways. I call out in both yards to see who is back there and no reply. I cover half the yard and call out again and finally get some sort of response. I ask the guy to either pull into the driveway or move vehicle so it's not blocking drive. I also inquired about what he was doing to which he replies "um, and who are you?!" I am officially po'd now. 'scuse me, you're trespassing and asking who I AM?! We could not be happier with our pool remodel. Shasta was not the cheapest option but they were the most professional and were able to show us a wide range of finishes for our pool and deck. They have a true project manager who's only job is to make sure things happen on time and right. That made all the difference for us and there were no surprises along the way. The delays could've been understood given the market climate, but the lack of communication and being brushed off was completely unacceptable. There is no excuse for such poor customer service. Very disappointed with the time it is taking to build the pool...started 09/2020...as of today we have been quoted another 3 months until completion...at this point it has taken longer for the pool than it took for the house to be built...I am wondering if shasta is working on new construction completions 1st....1 year for a pool even during covid has taken the fun out of having a pool built...if the hole was not already dug I would probably have changed my mind due to lack of communication.... read more

We WISH we were currently in the process of BUILDING a pool with Shasta. We signed the contract May 9th and they have NOT YET EVEN STARTED digging the pool!!! We were told the permit was approved by the city on June 28th and to make sure we had are yard ready by July 8th for construction. It is August 26th and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. The first project manager assigned to us Kristy, ever answered her phone and called back only after 5 or so messages left. Every time we call our 2nd project manager Candace, we get more excuses and put off with a "I will call you tomorrow" or "later today" to let you know the status after I talk to so-and-so". But it is always us making phone calls to Candace days after we expected to hear from her. One time, Candace said she would push our next step to the front of the line because we have waited so long so it would not take the 3 days, but instead it took another phone call from us more than a week later to have her look at our project and say she would move it to the next step. This process has gone no-where and the approval from our HOA for the project is about to be revoked with possible fines to us for the demolition of the backyard and pathways (for the construction equipment access) which can be seen from the street and is no longer up to the HOA standards. When we began the process we were told 3 to 4 months from date we signed the contract to completed filled pool due to the high volume of pools being built during the peak time of year. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 4 MONTHS AND WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A HOLE IN THE YARD YET. I have read other reviews posted here recently about customers who started their pools after ours and the pool is done and they are enjoying it. We are extremely FRUSTRATED with Shasta as they continue to make excuses and not return phone calls. My summary of this company: If you choose Shasta be prepared for a nightmare experience as well as no pool after signing the contract and no apologies for the delays. Our project was only $50,000, but I guess it has not been worth their time. Don't believe all those great reviews above, clearly they are several customers whose projects get ignored. We had a great experience with Shasta. We did several projects at once including new cap tile, new waterline tile, the ​addition of a baja shelf, removal of a diving board, completely​ resurfacing the pool from plaster to a micro finish, and capping our old pop up cleaning system in exchange for installation of a dedicated vacuum​ line. I called three different companies for quotes, and while Shasta came in on the higher end of those quotes, it was well worth the money spent for the awesome communication and customer service throughout the process. We worked with Brent Wilde in sales on the front end to determine exactly the work that would be completed and the finishes to be used. He was great about keeping in touch and keeping our project moving forward. Once we were ready to start the remodel, I was put in touch with Crystal. Crystal would call almost daily to review the work that was completed that day, and to let me know the next day that someone would be onsite, and ​followed up with the work that they would be doing. We also had a supervisor, Gary, who would stop by regularly to check progress and was available to answer questions. We are so happy with the finished pool and the process that it took to get there. Our project took around three weeks from start to finish. As with any construction, we ran into some additional expenses, but Shasta was up front and communicative about both, and kept the costs as minimal as possible. If you want to work with a company who is kind, communicative, does quality work, and does what they say they are going to do, Shasta is who you will want to call. read more

We have not just had a problem with the chiller; we had many other issues dealing with Shasta. The placement of our pool was incorrect in the backyard and had to be adjusted, we asked for a saltwater pool, and a chlorine system was installed, they installed the wrong tile that had to removed and replaced with the correct pattern, and delay after delay. What was sold to us was not delivered; dealing with Shasta Pools has been a complete hassle. Shasta has too many subcontractors and has no control over the project. This review is specifically related to the remodeling and sales department at Shasta Pools, not an actual store location. We have a nice inground pool that was built with the home in 1979. The pool liner was replaced in 2009 and is in great condition. However the pool deck surface is the original deck (other than having been re-painted at some point). The deck surface is chipping in several areas and it's time to be completely resurfaced. Since we have a Shasta pool, we requested a quote from Shasta, to be considered along with quotes from other contractors. The sales representative showed up on time for the appointment, was professional, courteous and thorough. That's as much positive as I can say, as it goes downhill from here. When he was looking at the chipped areas, he "observed" there was more than one layer that needed to be removed, so extra labor would be assessed. That was the first hint of the gouging that was to come. (All pool deck surfaces are applied in multiple layers as part of the process and resurfacing requires the removal by grinding down to the actual concrete surface). The pool deck area is roughly 600 square feet, and the quote came in at over $6100, and that was after a $500 " coupon discount" AND an additional "5% discount" was applied, as the original price was almost $7000 before those "discounts". The sales rep made sure to boast that Shasta was the only "master pool builder" in the area, and how many thousands of pools they had installed since the company was founded decades ago. He also stipulated that they are the only company offering a 5 year warranty on their work. Those are probably accurate claims which I do not refute. So I asked about the length of the project and the payment terms. He quoted me 7-10 days on the project, and said 50% was due up front, and the remaining 50% would be due after the surface stripping, but before the new material was installed. I felt my head spin in a "double take" fashion and I asked him to repeat that, as I thought I heard him wrong. He then repeated the terms and clarified that yes, the final payment is required BEFORE the job was completed. He said that is standard in these projects and "all contractors have that same requirement in this industry". So, we received 4 other quotes for the same work scope, and all of them quoted a 2 year warranty on the work. Three of them quoted a 3 to 4 day project time, and those 3 all came in at $2300-$2400 on the total price of the resurface project. The 4th bid came in at $2900 with a 7 day project length. All 4 of these other contractors have A+ ratings with the BBB, as that is something I always check before hiring a contractor. Also, all of the other 4 companies required 50% payment up front and the remaining 50% AFTER the job is completed. So in summary, the price that was quoted from Shasta was almost triple the price of most of the other contractors, required payment before the job is completed, and a much longer time to complete the job. I cannot speak to the quality of their work or their service, as I did not hire them. However, I do encourage anyone considering a pool installation or remodeling project to make sure you do your homework and receive multiple bids and ask a lot of questions, then get any quotes, terms, and details in black and white before making your final selection. Personally, based on this experience, I will not be considering Shasta for ANY work on my pool from this point forward. read more

RUN! Do not walk, run as a fast as you can from these guys. We ONLY went with Shasta because our new home builder would not allow any other pool builders on their job sites. Having 2 older dogs, we really wanted to have a swim ready pool at closing and not have to deal with workers in our yard that will stress them out, and have to live within a construction zone. We are paying cash, so none of this was attached to our mortgage. We met with the rep and honestly from the get go it was not a great feeling. When we said that we had a $40K budget for a pool we were literally laughed at. We thought that was reasonable for a tiny play pool (30' x 5' and 4.5 feet deep) We ultimately did have more money we could move to the pool budget but we are getting a very small pool and it is almost $58K. FYI we did price with other companies and same pool was $10K-$15K less, but we made the choice to go with it just for the convenience of having our pool done prior to move in. I know we live in some challenging times. My house was originally supposed to close in October, but during construction they had some supply issues. We ultimately closed in mid-December. Shasta was given the green light to go into our yard in October by the builder. They kept assuring us and the builder that we would still have a swim ready pool by close. As the days where turning into weeks and still no movement on the project, and dozens of emails from myself and the builder, they finally decided to tell us that they could not have it ready in December and it would have to be after close. We are not unreasonable and only asked for communication. When my builder had delays, they were upfront about it. Shasta was not and kept lying to us knowing it was not going to happen. I was told before close I am looking at a swim ready pool within 2-4 months. I thought that the issues would end there but they have only become worse! I was told that the excavation crew would be out on the Monday after close, they did not show up until Thursday. I was told someone would call with plumbers to be scheduled and they just showed up one day. No notice no call. I contacted them numerous times and have begged them for communication, so I know what is happening and I still get no calls, no notifications of when people are coming or going. Which makes it difficult as they have interrupted numerous Zoom calls while I am working. I have to go out unlock my gate and clear a path as they need to walk through the tiny area my dogs have on the side yard while my yard is a mess. Rebar crew showed up two days later no notice, interrupting my work. When I mention this to them, everyone just points fingers at everyone else and take ZERO responsibility. We are now waiting for electrical and gas. Numerous emails later no one can tell me anything. Total lack of any communication! By the way if I go by their timelines my pool may not even be ready until mid summer now or 6-9 months past the promised date. Recap - You get laughed at, lied too, have total lack of communication, no-one willing to take responsibility, and you get to pay thousands more than other builders for them to treat you like crap. What a deal! Not to mention that I have a huge hole in my backyard with steel bars, with zero barriers to protect my dogs or people in the yard. So I cannot let anyone or my dogs use my yard.
