My first visit to this location at the AFC Urgent Care Center was a bad experience for me…read more When I walked into the front to this facility. I asked to have a Complete Blood Count Test Taken so I can check on my blood clot that has developed in my right leg do I can find out if my Blood Clot has progressed and has increased and has gotten worse. This Nurse Practitioner was working at the front desk. She was very MEAN and not understanding to my very serious medical condition. The NP told me that she refuses to allow me to take a blood test at their AFC Urgent Care Center. I was mistreated by her with her bad attitude towards me. I told her my medical insurance company sent me over to her Urgent Care facility. Then she said that since I have not checked into their facility that I am not considered their patient. I said the reason I am not checked in is because I just arrived there by an Uber Driver and I was not told by their receptionist to sign my full name and to write down the date I arrived at their facility and I n ended to write down the time I arrived at their urgent care office. Again , this Nurse Practitioner said NO she won't accept my business. The NP forced me to call 911 and to request an Ambulance transport me to Sharp Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. I told that NP that I will never come to their facility again .

Long story short: I was scheduled for blood work at 8 a.m. for the week of April 17, 2006. Arrived…read moreat 7:55 am and was given access to the building and office by then. Walking in, I showed my prepaid label to the attendant and asked whether it was better to check in on a tablet or with her directly. The attendant responded dismissively, asking what I was doing there 5 minutes before my appointment, which made me feel undervalued as a customer. My experience was marred by her dismissive attitude, which made me feel unwelcome despite having prepaid for my bloodwork. I proceeded with a corporation report, and today, April 22, I received a call from Labcorp apologizing, explaining, and presenting her side of the facts: she was "surprised" because I showed up 5 minutes earlier, given that the area around is full of homeless people. I appreciated the acknowledgment and the effort to clarify the situation. Then Labcorp, through their employee, assumed I was a homeless person, even presenting the pre-paid label of my appointment. Take your conclusions from here.

I usually dread coming to do lab work and although I had to pay for street parking, got a bit lost due to the construction happening outside, meeting Sharon was a highlight. I barely felt the needle and chatting with her made the process painless! I'll definitely be coming back to this location for future blood work, they're by far the best in my book !

I had a fall the day prior and concerned I may have experienced a hairline fracture. From the moment I arrived, I was immediately checked in, triaged and x-rayed. My longest wait was to be seen. Yet, even then my wait was probably all of 15 min. More than likely I picked a slow night but not attempting reason for another visit anytime soon...haha... Overall, between the moment of check-in to check-out the staff were kind, caring and supportive. The only thing that stinks is paid parking. When I went to Optum Care Network's San Diego Sports Medicine's Urgent Care clinic for treatment, I was subjected to multiple iterations of ineffective treatment plans and was verbally harassed when I attempted to get assistance for obtaining a CA DMV Disabled Person Placard. More specifically, the only thing offered by Monica (the Office Manager) was an abundance of vindictive rhetoric couched in audacity, ignorance and false accusations. It was abundantly clear from her delusional behavior that Monica believes that patients exist to serve and support the needs of clinic staff and not the other way around. Instead of hiding patient issues requiring escalations that need to be properly addressed by those in charge of the Medical Group, one should expect that the true SDPMG leadership team would want to properly investigate and make quality improvements to service levels in order to properly resolve such matters. Regrettably, my experience was that the Medical Group leadership allegedly hide in anonymity and enable their incompetent subordinates to make unqualified decisions. This type of behavior may imply that this medical practice is all about making profits at patient's expense and not about patient satisfaction and service level quality.

First time needing to go to Urgent Care in San Diego on a Saturday afternoon. With a quick search,…read moreAFC Urgent Care Mission Valley was the closest location to me. The website was easy to navigate with the option to walk-in or schedule an appointment. I opted to schedule an appointment in two hours. The appointment scheduling system was a breeze and very user friendly. I saved a bunch of time uploading my Driver's License, Insurance Card and filling out all my information. I received text and email updates. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and the receptionist was friendly and checked me in, even though there was a QR code to scan for self-check. The waiting room was 75% full, so I opted to sit near the door one seat away from other patients on either side. While waiting there was a steady flow of patients coming and going. What I disliked was when a new patient sat right next to me when there was a row of three empty seats. I feel like it's just good manners to sit far apart when possible. Nurse Ashley took me back to check my vitals 8 minutes after my schedule appointment. Instead of measuring my height and weight she asked me. She did take my blood pressure, pulse and temperature. She brought me back to wait in a treatment room. After 15-20 minutes she came back to inform me that I will be seen by a provider shortly and thank you for waiting. I made myself comfy in the armchair. It was probably another 30 minutes before Dr. MacKenzie came in. She asked a few questions, took a look at me, gave me her diagnosis but wanted a second opinion and asked me to wait a little longer. Another doctor came in, asked some questions, looked at me and felt my eyes, gave the same diagnosis and departed. Dr. MacKenzie explained the diagnosis, prescribed a steroid, antihistamine and topic ointment. These were all ready for me before I arrived at my preferred pharmacy. What I appreciated the most was her level of care. I respected that she took time to get a second opinion and thoroughly explained everything to me and answered all my questions. While it's never fun to go to the hospital, she eased my anxiety for sure. I highly recommend this location for urgent care needs and hope that you are lucky to get Dr. MacKenzie.
