When we dropped them off they placed them in the yard. we brought their stuff in and they showed us their space. That was it and then we left. It was quite rushed. When they called they said your dogs are scared and won't let us approach them so you need to come pick them up. I asked if we could sit with them till they become comfortable and were told no but we could talk about it when we get there. They already had all of our stuff packed up and there was no real discussion. They said they had a schedule they needed to keep and this wasn't the place for our dogs. There was no working with us or attempt to try to make the dogs comfortable. In the end we had no choice but to cancel the vacation because boarding facilities are all full because of the Holiday. What a crappy thing to do to people to not even attempt to work with you especially since they offer 2 different drop off times of morning and evening.

I was looking for last minute boarding and heard good things about the place so I scheduled a meet…read more& greet. First of all, the paperwork is 8 pages per dog...I don't even fill out vet paperwork that long. Secondly, they have a 3 step long process "to be accepted" to board with them, so if you work full time- good luck. During this meet & greet, I was spoken to (or lectured) like a 12 year old by the owner, Tim, regarding my dog's separation anxiety while separated from the my other dog in the car. I was also swiftly lectured about both the vet's and my decision to wait a little longer to neuter our 8mo old puppy. Overall did not appreciate the interrogation style this owner took with me. I doubt he would have taken this aggressive and lecturing tone with my husband, but we'll never know because he was so rude and dismissive of me. Though I do not doubt his plethora of knowledge about dogs, but what he has in knowledge he lacks in people skills.

But this was a little severe cut and they didnt even tell us when they knew about it! My dog was bleeding all over the car and we had to run back and ask for paper towel, and apparently my boyfriend told me the girl was mumbling saying "we forgot to tell you she has a cut" like seriously?? Shouldnt you be telling us before you hand her over ? My dog was crying so much in the car due to the pain. I will never come back to this establishment, i was very skeptical at first, but my boyfriend wanted to go bc VCA biglake was handing out their cards so he just assumed there was a good reason they were handing them out. This place is at a house and it just didnt look right to me, they had big dogs in the fence running around and small dogs looking out the window, just dogs everywhere there was also an rv on the side of the house. And they seemed so poorly ran..fair warning to dog owners check your dogs before you leave..because they will just send your dog without disclosing this kind of information. I really hope my dog does not have an infection from this, trying my best to make her feel comfortable. If i need to take my dog to the vet, i am definitely going to be charging the bill to them!! Another thing is that they told us $80 for everything and then told us its $95 when we were coming to pick her up. My boyfriend told them he heard $80, so the woman on the phone said "if thats what you heard, then thats what you heard." In a very rude and condescending tone. Do not come here, take your pup to a better place with ACTUAL caring groomers! The proof are in the pictures!!

We love that the staff sends us photo updates and that they get to spend a lot of time outside playing. On their most recent stay, we also booked some newly offered spa services. The boys got baths and nail trims. They smell so fresh and have the cutest little bandanas on, and remarkably, their nail trims were successful. I don't know how the staff did it, but Amos has never successfully had his nails trimmed anywhere else. He is a shy dog and he gets grumpy about his nails, so I think it speaks volumes to the level of trust the staff built with him in just a week. Pretty amazing! If you need to board a pet, Lakeside Pet Retreat is a must.

AK TLC Kennels is behind Builders Bargains on the Parks Hwy near Trunk Rd…read more We have 2 dogs (both husky rott mixes) that LOVE going to the kennel here. (Our previous 2 dogs loved going here too as they have a "geriatric" room that is quieter and sectioned off from the main part of the kennel so it's a bit quieter for the older dogs). The runs are good sized, we keep our 2 dogs together in 1 run, as many people do. They get beds that are raised up off the floor, and blankets. I think they will also give them toys to have in the run, but we have 1 that will ingest stuff like that so we skip that part. Debbie and her staff are great with the dogs and are always happy to see them when they arrive. They offer grooming and also have a separate room for boarding cats. One of my dogs has a thing about having his toes touched, so we rarely get to trim his nails at home. We've tried at the vets office too, but someone is usually holding him down and there is a lot of flailing and almost no nail trimming. I asked TLC to trim his nails several trips ago and they said he LOVES it when they do it and has no issues, so now that is part of his trip to the kennel as well. Dogs are taken out to several fenced play yards a few times a day. Mine always come home exhausted. I love TLC Kennel and wouldn't take my dogs (my children) anywhere else.

Recently, my ridgeback, Ozzie was at TLC while I was in Europe, and they rushed him to emergency vets, due to unforeseen emergency related to his stomach constricting, resulting in a life or death situation. It was recognized immediately, and he was immediately taken vet. His life threatening condition ended well thank you to TLC!! They kept Ozzie in cuddle room after his surgery the rest of his stay, and was totally pampered. TLC are passionate about caring for your pet for their individual needs, and very knowledgeable related to safety. Highly recommend TLC!!
