I recently have an office in Canton and I was searching for a dog park near by for my little Daisy Mae to visit. We have a dog park in Fall River, and I like to visit as many dogs parks as possible when I am on the road. I googled this one and we finally made it to Sharon to visit the park. Lovely location and great parking. Helpful signs and the people are friendly and suggestive about the park. There is a nice stroll into the park with wooded pine trees and a pond, very relaxing for the owner as they take their little furry companions on the way to the dog area. When we got to the dog area I missed seeing the small dog entrance so we entered the large dog park. No one was there until Bear showed up with his owner. They were so nice and friendly and Daisy had someone to hang around with in this large area. We did find the small dog area, but did not visit it. We also walked down the wooded path and enjoyed being in nature. I would recommend this wonderful dog park to anyone who would like a great place to take their furry companions. I also took some nice photo's of Daisy having a great time. read more

Sooooo it was our 1st time at a dog park. I LOVED that it was fenced. The other people there were very nice and social. It seemed picked up and things were in order(as far as a dog park goes). The reason there isn't 5 stars??? There was this JACKASS trainer guy with a HUGE boxer that was bullying the other dogs. So I did what any good mom to her fur baby would do, we walked away. It was spacious enough for us to walk to the other end, and my boy got the message (as well as another pup), but the GIANT JACKASS had to follow us. Wtf??? I'm all aboard for training the big beasts, but not at my fur baby's expense. They had contact a couple of times and a couple of times my guy yelped in pain. He was NOT the only one either. So to the GIANT JACKASS in his lumber jack flannel jacket and his BIG, STUPID RED LEASH. Find another place to socialize a nasty beastly animal!!! read more

Just came from a visit here this afternoon with my two mini dachshunds. Yes, the "big dog" side is pretty large. Most of the dogs were enjoying the space to romp. There was a great mix of dogs there, plenty of room for them to play, also a great chance for the owners to socialize. Seeing as how my dogs are "toy" sized as well as this being their first visit to any dog park, we stayed primarily on the "small dog" side. This area was not the size of a "living room" unless you happened to live in a palace! My pups enjoyed running around with some of the mid-sized dogs that came over to this area (the big/small dog separation is a chain link fence so you can easily go between the two). I think that the overall atmosphere was very pleasant, we definitely had some great play time with new friends, and we'll be sure to come again to visit. Listen, it goes without saying that there will always be the unknown elements. My pups are 15 and 8 pound, respectively. They did get cornered one we crossed over to the large dog side by well meaning, friendly, full sized dogs that just wanted to play. Will this prevent me from coming back? No, because my husband and I were there to intervene, as were the other dogs' owners. The last thing I want is for my pups to become unfriendly around bigger dogs. The more time they spend socializing, the more comfortable they will become with normal dog behavior. On that note, I think this was a very nice atmosphere. read more

I've had my greyhound for almost 2 years and every weekend he looks forward to going to the park. It's a great place with free clean-up bags. 99% of the people that go there are easy going and fun to talk to. The space is nice, there's a smaller section for small dogs, and there's running water and some metal bowls scattered about the place. The ground is covered in wood chips which makes clean up pretty easy. I noticed some negative reviews and I thought some of the reasons were kind of silly. Someone complained about the walk to get to the park. Well, you wouldn't want the park right near the road just in case a dog gets loose. Besides, it's a nice path with a beautiful pond to look at on your way in. Some people also complained about people bringing kids to the park. The park has signs clearly stating that kids are not allowed in the park. Some people ignore that, but what can you do? It doesn't happen often, and if a kid is bugging your dog I think you're well within your right to say something to the kid, or better yet, the parent. I do think that the small dog area should be bigger, and that's the only reason I'm not giving this place a 5. Most people don't seem to mind mixing small dogs with big ones, but at least there us a closed off section for those that aren't comfortable with it. All in all, it's a great place with a great community. I'd recommend the early morning crew on the weekends. They're all good people. read more

I just discovered this dog park today via yelp. I decided to take my dog, Moby there today. I did a lot of research on what to expect and how the 'small' dog area was VERY small. I had a hard time finding the place and I didn't realize I had been directly in front of it before turning around. Finally, the second loop around I saw the "dog parking" sign. I was a little worried at first - it's by a really old, run down building so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. Once we parked, we made our way down the trail and I let Moby walk around first, smell the leaves and look at the doggies in the dog park. This would be Moby's first time at a dog park AND off leash with other dogs (other than his friend Chip, who's played with off leash in an apartment). I will admit, I was very hesitant about letting Moby in and play. I couldn't find the 'small dog' area. Moby stands just under my knees, he's a chihuahua/terrier mix with some other breed mixed in there too. He's about 20 lbs. We went into the 'big dog' area and he LOVED IT. I kept him on his leash at first to see if he'd be nervous or whatever and after about 5 minutes of sniffing the other dogs and looking around I felt comfortable to let him off his leash. He stayed off his leash for about an hour playing with other dogs - smaller and bigger than him. All the other dog owners were cautious of their pets and friendly. I never felt threatened or worried that Moby would be hurt or any other dog for that matter. I didn't notice ANY dog poop left around. The area was clean, HUGE fenced in area for the dogs to play in. There were water bowls, tennis balls, rope toys...the whole nine yards for them to play with. My only complaint is the 'small dog' area. Technically, Moby is under 35 lbs. so I guess he should've gone in the small dog fenced in area but NO other dogs were in there and it was so set back that I couldn't find it until we were already in. It's a smallllllll fenced in area and my Moby likes to run. No one else seemed to mind that Moby was in the bigger dog area and he was very well behaved and listened to me when I called for him . I definitely think I will go back. Just make sure if you have a smaller dog and go into the small dog area that it is VERY VERY SMALL. read more

We love this place. Completely fenced in. For the most part the owners are responsible and clean up after their pooch. On the weekends there could be upward of 40 dogs in the park. There is a small dog area that I wish more people would use. Today a Husky used a toy dog as a toy but this was the first time I saw something like this. If your dog is a yipper go to the small dog area and leave the big boys alone. My dog sleeps for hours after he spends some time here playing with his friends. read more

This place would have been great but people who cant follow the rules ruin it for everyone... My American Bulldog was having a blast playing with all the dogs then an elderly man came over and let his tiny dog (about 15-20 pounds) free. There is a small dog area for a reason...This little dog kept nipping at all the big dogs and the guy kept flipping out...HELLO, small dog area for a reason! In the end we had to leave because this guy just wouldnt get up and take his dog to the proper area for his dog. read more

Expand the size of the small dog area! Small dogs are people...err dogs...too! I have a 17 lb terrier mix who is as "dog-like" as the big dogs. She wants to run around and chase other dogs and wrestle and play. Whoever designed this place (as well as many of the Yelpers who have reviewed it) seem to think that all smaller dogs are froufrou dogs who just want to sit in your lap. You couldn't be more wrong. We are a little south of Sharon and prefer the longer ride to the dog park at beautiful Slater Park in Pawtucket. Believe it or not, "The Bucket" blows Sharon out of the water on this one. This place got a Lot of tail on the weekends. It's all fenced in with plenty of room to run. There's benches to sit down on and trees to stand under for shade. They have running water in the warmer months with a little kiddie pool for the dogs to cool off in. There's bowls there for water and baggies to clean up after your dog. read more

Not a bad park by any means but if you have a smaller dog, the area they designate for your pooch is quite small. The area for the larger dogs is great though- very large with numerous benches to sit and watch them chase each other around. I have a small/med Shiba Inu (6 mos old) who is fine around bigger dogs (and loves to chase them around and pretend he's part of the pack even though he can barely keep up!) but tends to get tumbled over if he gets in the way of the bigger, faster ones running around, so I prefer parks that have a good sized area for him to run in with the smaller breeds. What I did like about this place was that they provide a water hose and gallon jugs to fill up and use to refill water dishes. Definitely a plus with the summer heat coming. read more

I know many people who have pets, and I sometimes go with them to dog parks. Normally, we go to the Wrentham Dog Park, but tried Sharon a few weeks ago. The Sharon Dog Park is much smaller,yet does have a few advantages. I'm going to review the Wrentham Dog Park soon and it's also going to be a 3 star review, because that one is really just for dogs, and really only for dog's that like to socialize. This one has both, a larger fenced in area for socializing dogs and a smaller area for small dogs. It also has a large walking trail for people to also get a walk in. The main difference between Wrentham and Sharon is that at Wrentham the dog's get a HUGE place to go, and dog owners don't get any exercise and at Sharon the dog part is smaller, yet owner's also have a trail to walk with their dogs as well. Overall, a fine dog park... could use some upgrading and making better.... but fine for the area. I much prefer (and live closer) to Bird Park... not a specific dog park, but still much preferred. 3 stars. read more

Fantastic dog park but I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about dogs going to the small dog area. The size of the dog doesn't matter. All dogs should learn to socialize with other sized dogs. If you have a small dog that doesn't like to play with other dogs then yea, you probably shouldn't be there. I have a small dog and he loves to play with big dogs and big dogs love to play with him. He has learned when to back off and he has learned this by going to this park. To me, a dog park is somewhere that a dog should be let free to socialize with other dogs. My other dog, a lab, likes this park but likes hikes and chasing balls in a field much more so I usually take him elsewhere if I am going out with just him. So in my opinion the "small" dog section should be for any sized dog that doesn't like other dogs. read more

After hearing all good things about the Sharon Dog Park, we finally decided to give it a go and were quite pleased in the process! There's lots of space to run and play and our pup couldn't be happier. The bowls on site are convenient and useful for our bottled water. The benches are spread out and an added perk is that some are situated directly under trees for shade in the summer. Wish we had one of these in our own town, it's great! read more

This is an okay dog park. I am personally not a big fan of dog parks because even though owners are present, all it takes is one poorly trained or aggressive dog to ruin it for everyone. When my Aussie was a puppy, I socialized him through day care and supervised play groups at the day care he attended, which I found to be a more safe environment. At any rate, while it is a little bit of a walk to reach the park, it is fairly solid as far as dog parks go, and it is great that they have water available. Dogs are divided by size for a variety of reasons, and the lack of an adequate small dog section is a problem. My pup is not a small dog (60 pounds), and as an Aussie, he likes to herd smaller dogs, so separation is a good thing. I love that they attempt to limit small children in the park, but in practice it hasn't worked so well for me, which is why I won't be back. People do not seem to understand that dogs do not necessarily equal children. My pup is not a fan a small children, especially small children running around and screaming. It's a dog park, not a kid park. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was a child who was mentally disabled. He was chasing my dog, screeching, which was not a good scene. As noted, my pup is generally not a fan of small children and doesn't like being chased. He was literally crying and trying to get away from this little boy, whose parents did not see the need to stop him from engaging in this behavior. My pup is not aggressive, but this would have be prime biting scenario with a more aggressive dog. Overall, decent if you don't mind a trek to get there, the presence of kids, and mixing of small and large dogs. read more

My dog loves the Sharon Dog Park and the dog and human friends we have both made there. The "small dog park" is not mandatory for your small dog. Your small dog may "run with the big boys" if he can handle it and most do. The small dog park can be for any dog that needs to ease into the big park....or one that is too rowdy for the other dogs. It is not a place for children to play. This is a dog park, not a playground. If children are left there to play with and watch the dogs, especially without an adult (or their own dog) present (and yes it does happen), that is a recipe for disaster. I have seen running, screaming kids get knocked down by the dogs because the dogs see that child as a playmate. Come and enjoy the park and leave your children on the bench outside the fence. Small and large well behaved dogs (and people) are always welcome. read more

Best dog park around in my humble opinion. My husband and I have taken our Collie mix to a number of dog parks and this one is the best by far. We live in Burlington MA. and travel the 30 or so minutes just to go here. It is off a trail at the Sampson park which is great if you want to do a little hiking along the trails before or after play at the park. There are always plenty of dogs to play with and they even have a special area for smaller dogs. I really like this park because it is well taken care of, has many water bowls scattered around the park along with a spigot to refill the bowls. As well as being one of the bigger parks around it has benches to sit on as well as a few trees to provide shade in the warmer months. They also provide a few small wading pools for the dogs in the summer so they can cool off after running a few laps! All in all ofter visiting many dog parks this is the one we prefer to go to. read more

Great park physically, but I've had to stop going a due to dogs that are bullies and aggressive and the owners simply don't do enough to intervene. I go to the Dedham park even though it's farther away, because people are more aware and will step in if their dogs are out of line. I'm saddened that this happened at Sharon--I took a break for a few weeks and then we gave it another chance, but the same thing happened with dogs aggressively barking and biting my dog's neck (and other dogs), and some who take toys and sticks from other dogs' mouths! You wouldn't let your kids do this to other kids, so don't let your dogs. This is very different than dogs "playing," which is also what people have said as an excuse. Even when I had to speak to someone because her husky nearly bit MY face (after it had already upset many dogs/people), she didn't do anything. If a dog is causing a problem, it is up to the owner to control it or remove it from the park--the "victims" shouldn't have to leave. read more

So I just moved from Florida. My 6yr old mini schnauzer has been doing dog parks his entire life, no problems. The Sharon Dog Park ranks the lowest of all dog parks I've ever been to. Not only is it small and dirty, dog owners do not respect the rules of the dog park. It seemed they were more interested in socializing with each other than attending to their dogs. When I first entered the park with my 20lb dog he was greeted by several big dogs that simply would not let him come into the play area. They just crowded around him not allowing him to move, one German Shepard mix kept trying to hump him. This went on for 10 minutes while the owners did nothing but stand around and chat with each other. I understand that dogs need to socialize and set pecking order within the pack, but these dogs were clearly bullying my dog to the point that he was shaking and would not move. I made it clear that I was not happy with their behavior, but no owners came over to remedy the situation. The German Shepard mix continued to try and hump my little schnauzer so I started to scold him. That's when the owner finally came over and told her dog "no". That's it, then she walked away to go sit back on the bench with her friends and talk. A minute later the German Shepard was humping my dog again... and then at the same time another dog came over and tried to get in on it and then my dog finally snapped. He did not want to be humped and bullied anymore. The next thing I know, there are 5 dogs attacking my dog, one of them had my dog's head in his mouth at one point. No owners did ANYTHING. They just stood and watched. I had to get down on the ground and pull a husky mix and a German Shepard mix off of my 20lb mini schnauzer. Once i got him in my arms another dog came over and started jumping and biting me as I'm holding my dog in my arms. Unbelievable!!! Where are these dog's owners? My dog's never been in a fight in his life. The Sharon Park is a complete failure. Now my little dog has a nice gash in his head and bite marks all over his skin. I hope they shut this dog park down, the dog owners obviously do not know how to watch their dogs. read more
