This is a hidden gem for dogs. A very large, open area, where dogs can run and play. Around the perimeter of the park is a worn path from where dogs and their people walk/run. Inside of this is a huge grassy hill, perfect for dog to frolic, play fetch, wrestle, or roll around in. At the entrance (there are two- one just a fence entry and one a double door entry which is very useful, and safer for many dogs) there are usually a variety of water bowls around. *Bring your own water, as there is no water source! At the bottom of the hill, is a nice shady area with a picnic table to sit at. This is often a gathering area for dogs and their people on warmer days. As a general rule, the dog and people are friendly and well mannered. On occasion there is a dog or owner who isn't pleasant, but the park is large enough that it is possible to avoid them. There are no posted rules to the park, except that owners must clean up and remove their dog's waste from the park (there are no garbage bins!). Most owners follow common dog park etiquette, ie, no food, no treats, no smoking, and no small children. But some don't, and with no posted rules, this occasionally leads to conflict. Overall, a great place for dogs of all sizes to get some energy out, and for owners to get some exercise, too!

First time there and loved it. Friendly owners, puppies, fairly clean and large enough for my two dogs to run around.

Friendly people and dogs. Great space, but the driveway area is full of potholes, so just be aware.

Ask the Community - Wrentham Dog Park

Can anyone recommend a puppy play group in the area?

Depends on where you live. I'm in southern RI and have been to both the Potter League (Middletown, RI) and Courteous Canine (Wakefield, RI). Might be a bit far for you, but I highly recommend both of them!

This is the fourth dog park I've visited lately. Recently,…read moreI've been around more dogs, and therefore have been going to more dog parks. Now, technically I probably could've gotten in trouble for coming here as it's supposed to be for Needham residents only, but I live in a nearby town, so didn't think it would be too big of a deal (and what, they're going to check an ID at a dog park?). This is a cool place off of Pine Street in the rural section of southern Needham close to the Dover line. It's accessible only via Central Avenue as Pine Street is a one way. Off Pine St, there are two signs, one white and one brown (as in the one of the pictures I uploaded), where you will turn onto a long, dirt road, filled with potholes, leading to the park as well as the Needham Community Farm at the end of the long road. There are two large fenced in areas for dogs. They are both good size and they both are extremely clean. There wasn't anyone else their when I arrived and left for that matter... so it's on the slow side, which can be a plus and a minus. Not much parking, but a small amount at the entrance and I think you can park a bit farther down the road in a large paved area. Overall, 4 star dog park. Better than some of the others I've visited, and in comparison, not as good as others. 4 stars.

If I had written this post prior to this weekend I would be giving all 5 stars. Unfortunately,…read moreirresponsible people and more specifically, their dogs, have let me to drop a star. Lets start with the park itself. If you're looking for it via your GPS it's smarter to do Pond Street North in Seekonk, as the park is right on the line. Once you get close you'll start to see signs for the dog park. It's right across the street from the Animal Shelter which (if you read the story below) is a good thing. The park has a large dog side and a small dog side. My dog is just over 30lbs and loves to play with big dogs, so we are often found on that side. Most time, the small dog side not occupied. There are water bowls and free water, as well as poop bags and trash bins. There are also a few benches, which on hot days, the dogs will dig under and lay. The land itself has grassy spots and also bark mulch/sticks in some areas, which turn into chew toys for some. All in all, it is a very nice dog park. STORY TIME! Last Saturday, I had been at the park for about an hour and a half. My dog, Lincoln, had been playing with a variety of different dogs big and small. They had been slowing down when a couple with their bulldogs (Brazilian Bulldog and Blue Southern something or other) enter the park. All seemed well for the start. Their dogs didn't seem very interested in running around or playing, which could have been the weather. In an attempt to stay relatively close to Lincoln, I switched benches and over heard a conversation about the woman's bulldogs get "attacked" by a husky/malamute mix that was a regular there. She stated that she thought this dog had to be a wolf hybrid mix and how she Googled it and blah blah blah. If it is the dog I know of, I find this highly unlikely, since this dog plays great with my small dog. No sooner am I thinking this, that one of her bulldogs LUNGES at Lincoln. He begins yelping at the top of his lungs and running, tail between his legs. It started quite a commotion with all owners running after their dogs and trying to break it up. The woman threw water at them and then literally laid her body down on top of the dog to get it to stop. I promptly got my very shaken up dog and see a woman from the Animal Shelter running over to make sure all was okay. We checked Lincoln over for blood and she made a wild guess as to which dog it was, yes, the bulldogs! She said they had been in a few other altercations and unfortunately they don't have a "three strikes and you're out rule" or else they would be gone. Moral of the story, if you see this blonde woman with her two bulldogs... steer clear! I will not stop coming here, but I will absolutely leave if I see her, or at least switch sides. To seal the deal she remained quiet as a mouse as I left. No apology, no acknowledgement, no nothing. Pretty unfortunate.
