Out of the three I've been to, this is by far, the BEST of the MA Dog Parks! Recently, I have been to the Sharon & Wrentham Dog Parks, both being really average. The Medway Dog Park is definitely my preferred out of the three. For some weird reason, Yelp has this place listed on College Street, but really it's at the corner of Village & Cottage Streets. There is a small parking lot on Village Street, but be careful! It sneaks up on you and doesn't have a sign. There are 2 sections of the park, a smaller area for small dogs and a huge area for large dogs. The park is extremely clean, and the people who use the park seem conscientious about continuing to keep the park clean as well. It's a great place for any dog in the area, and one of the best dog parks in Massachusetts (at least in comparison to the others I've been to....). 4 stars. read more

Decent park. Harder with smaller dogs- that they don't get near the larger. Kept up well. Good if you want your dogs out socializing, just have to watch out for bigger dogs. read more

This place has steadily improved over the past few months... Or I guess I should say the clientle that visits the park has gotten a lot better. A local doggie business (I forget the name!) has set up stations throughout the park that provide bags to pick up after one's dog, and this has improved the park's cleanliness ten fold. Now people just don't have any excuse not to pick up after their pooch. I just wish that people wouldn't use the park if they're not residents (esp. on nice days/weekends as it tends to get overcrowded and chaotic), and I'm still worried about disease... I know MY dog is up-to-date on his vaccinations, but sometimes I wonder... Just gotta keep an eye on your pooch! read more

I can't comment on the previous reviewers experience, except to add that I have been going there for 3 years and while there have been a few scrapes here and there, my overall experience has been pawsitivly positive. We are talking about dogs and people. While there are rules, it is self regulating with the occasional reminder. I expect the occasional disagreement to and rather then separate or restrain the dogs, I leave. The people who volunteer to manage the park do an incredible job, with few resources. The dog park permit is free, by the way. It only requires you to prove that your dog is up to date on vaccinations, and contact information. The police department is so close, if some altercation were to occur, help is moments away. I have met some great people, and some that I might not want to have tea with, but I know for sure that people who go there regularly are invested and committed in keeping the park clean and safe. read more

eek me thinks not is exactly what i was vying for, thanks yelp! yes the dreaded 1 star review, which for a dog park must be pretty messed up, care to listen? great pull up a stump and hear what i got to say. so this use to be sniffington's main playground, it was completely fenced in, no worries of him getting out and into the street (beagle owners#1 nightmare) and the place usual has 'good' dogs that behave for the most part. we would go and he would play for an hour or so and then we would drive back to home base and reap the rewards, usually a day of solitude from our tired pup. keep in mind this place is a good 45 minutes away from home base, but thats what we do as dog people (so this should have been at least 3-4 stars for the pups sake alone), am i wrong? so im not upset about this, we accepted it as the way it has to be. would any town within 128 open a dog park, hey that would be nice, but it didnt happen as this went to press. so whats the 1 star about jerms? glad you asked.... so a few months ago we piled into the car and drove-out west to medway for some k9 fun, and thats what we had. sniffy did the usual running, teasing and hiding under the picnic table as written in his basic code of conduct. now the locals of medway created a set of rules last year and while i was in grad school last year i would go during the day and all these stay-at-homes would gather around and let they dogs play and basically talk trash bout outsiders and create these said by-laws in their heads about what they wanted in their dog park: membership tags (we had one), no kids in trees, no pit bulls, no eating, basic stuff...you can look it up on their website. whatever, its good to have these rules and better if properly enforced. so anyway, we are playing and its winding down for our four legged friend, he was just sniffing around a fern patch when i hear a dog scrum on the other side of the park. now for those of you who dont know, sometimes when you have two very playful and aggressive dogs in the same place, things can get heated between them, why? dont know they cant talk, but when it happens, its best to separate them and let them chill for a few and they will go back to play as if nothing happened, i would say a good owner will watch their dog and make this happens (in the bylaws too!) ok, well this last time, we heard two dogs getting crazy so we go to restrain sniffy so he doesnt go looking for trouble (which he never does other the take toys and run under the picnic table, silly boy) and it appears these dogs are really going at it. so one of the dogowners who i would always see and i believe helped create the bylaws (local) goes over and attempts to peel of this one dog off of his dog from the other aggressive dog, and the one dog bites his hand, he did not respond well, but was able to get the attacking dog off of his dog. well the owner of the attacking dog didnt like someone touching his dog (even though he should have been on top of it) and got all in the face of the man with a bitten hand now, and started to pummel this other guy. big mistake, the one guy was an off duty franklin police office and quickly subdued the dude and threw him on the ground AND THEN PULLED OUT A CONCEALED HANDGUN AND POINTED IT AT THE ONE MAN WITH THE ATTACKING DOG. so they you go, you will not see in the bylaws anything about bringing in weapons into the dog park, so i guess its ok do so. hey dogs, little kids, guns, makes sense. we didnt stick around to see what came of the whole situation, we only saw the offduty cop call the town of medway requesting some police backup and reporting assaulting a cop and a dog bite and such.the other guy was quiet upset and didnt want to be reported and whanot. im not too sure what charges were filed, but decided that we were no longer going to the park with the guns. hey, even if the cop wasnt there, what would have happened if it was just two regular owners? dont know you go and let me know the results. c'est ce bark. read more

I visited this park for the 1st time today and I was really impressed. First impression is that it is HUGE! Lots of mature trees, interesting topography and wood chip ground cover. My hounds get bored at run of the mill fenced area will pea or rice stone ground cover. They could really explore this park and safely follow their noses. A stellar dog park. Huge L-shaped, lots of shade, benches, picnic table, interesting topography and perfect ground cover of wood chips. It does have a separate area if your little ome needs their own space or if your doggy needs a timeout. Saturday morning a nice batch of dogs. Lots of nooks and crannies for my guy to sniff around and great running around space over and around mounds with trees. It is open to all, not just Medway residents. read more

Clean and spacious, but if your dog isn't one of the "regulars", your dog will be swarmed and followed everywhere. We left after 10 minutes when my dog was pinned to the ground by another dog. We won't be going back. read more

Ok, I have to come to the defense of the Medway Dog Park. I usually don't waste my time writing online reviews but I really feel like I need to give another point of view in this case. The person who wrote this other review is entitled to his opinion, and the situation he describes did indeed happen. Although I wasn't there it was the talk of the park for a very long time. That being said, there has been no other incident of this caliber that I am aware of. I'm not condoning the fact the off duty police officer brought his gun to the park. There really was no need for that. And this whole situation could have ended much worse than it did, we should all be thankful for that. However, the Medway Dog Park is a great place to take your dog for a little romp. My dog absolutely loves it there! Sure, there are rules. But they are for the safety and wellbeing of dogs and their owners. As long as you follow the rules you'll be ok. Most dog owners are really nice and most step up and do the right thing if there's an altercation between dogs. Sure there are a few bad apples but you're going to find that pretty much anywhere you go. The park is big, completely fenced in and even has a small area fenced off from the larger area for small dogs. They provide poop bags and trash bins where you can throw it away. People are always bringing old toys for the dogs to play with as well. I think this park is a great place and will continue taking my dog there. Love the park itself. Sometimes the dogs that are there can be a bit rough. I guess it is like anything. It all depends on the day.

I cant say I dont like the park because I do! The park in itself is gorgeous! Very clean, various dog toys available as well as poop-scoops and poop bags. My problem is the bylaw in regard to pitbulls! I have an 8 month old pitbull pup who is VERY social and LOVES to play! In order for him to walk into this park he is supposed to wear a MUZZLE! I completely understand the stereo types and all that follow this breed but I feel this is completely unfair! I feel that ANY dog could become aggressive and anyone who utilizes this park should be responsible for their pet. My dog is no different then the other dogs who play in this park. The first time we went in there were 3 little ankle biter dogs that were extremely aggressive to any dog that walked past them! My dog just wanted to play ball and couldnt even open his mouth to pick up the tennis balls!! It is just unfair that my dog has to wear a muzzle in order to walk into the park but the rotties, bulldogs and other big dogs do not.
