So much to our delight when we happened upon Wing Station, which was boasting a large "Now Open" sign out front of a building that appeared to have recently gone an extensive renovation. A quick online search revealed one 5-star recommendation on Yelp (which I always find as suspect), but we proceeded to check out the menu and liked what we read. What initially caught my eye was "Wings" in the name of the restaurant, but Wing Station offered a much more interesting assortment of dishes for the palate. We decided to order takeout that included hot wings, fried catfish, fried okra, corn fritters, and Shrimp Hibachi with rice. Wow, what a pleasant experience! Because we ordered onsite we had to wait about 20 minutes for everything to be prepared, and we were not disappointed. Everything we got was excellent and cooked to perfection. Be sure to check out the extensive and unique menu posted on their website. Appetizers range from Cheese Sticks to Egg Rolls, and main menu items include Fried Rice, Noodles, and a variety of seafood and chicken items and plates.

The atmosphere is casual, the food is not, it's very upscale, fancy and delicious! We started with a couple Manhattan's and the Parmesan Zucchini Fries. Having a cocktail in a dry county is special but those crispy, tender strips of zucchini were even more special, like no other fried zucchini I've ever had! The house salads arrived shortly after the appetizer and they were loaded with goodies for being the lagniappe (Cajun word used for side dish). Entree's arrived just as we finished our salads, perfect timing, and were perfect! I had the ultimate shrimp platter so I could try three of the shrimp and all three were delicious. Hubby's steak was cooked perfect temp and the blackened seasoning was nice and spicy. Service from Russel was top notch, he was super attentive and very kind. I realize that wait times can be longer on crowded nights--this is not because of that. Our server, Ivy, was incredibly rude and completely ignored us. She served all the tables around us, even sitting and chatting with customers or friends numerous times, despite the restaurant being packed and tables not receiving service. Since the restaurant was crowded and our server hadn't come to our table for around 10 minutes after we sat down, we ordered our first round of drinks at the bar. No big deal. What frustrated us was when the server completely ignored or disregarded us MULTIPLE times as we politely tried to get her attention to order food. Ivy would walk right past us when she could clearly hear us trying to get her attention, or she would just look at us and then look away, as if doing her job wasn't worth her time. My friend went up to her to ask if she could take our order, and Ivy only told her something along the lines of "not right now." After around 30-40 minutes of sitting at the table, we realized we weren't going to get food from Ivy, so we moved to another server's section. I wish I could remember our second server's name, because she came up to us within maybe 1-2 minutes to ask for our orders and was genuinely so nice to us!! We told her about how rude Ivy had been, and the server apologized and said that apparently Ivy was like that a lot. My friends and I literally did nothing that would have caused Ivy to be rude to us. Ivy just decided that she would rather sit and talk with friends while on the job instead of serving us, then treat us like dirt on her shoe when we ask for food.

One nit pick was that one of the soap dispensers was empty but the other wasn't. On the bright side the rib eyes were cooked perfectly. She hustled back to the kitchen and brought my tea and a Baked Potato with sour cream - my main request had been that there be no sour cream on my potato. She took it away, and finally brought my correct potato. This was the worst dining experience we have had in a year or more. We understand that new staff must be trained, but where was the manager?! Unfortunately, I have had a completely different experience with the attached coffee bar. The staff frequently encourages me to try the coffee, and I have now given it seven or eight chances, both while eating at the restaurant and by stopping in specifically for a drink. Almost every time, they have been out of at least one ingredient needed to make the drink I ordered. Each time, I'm told that it is unusual or given a reason why it happened, but after experiencing the same issue repeatedly, it no longer feels like an occasional problem. Even when they have been able to make my drink, the quality has been disappointing. Some drinks have tasted watery, while others have had a noticeably sour espresso taste, as though the shot was not pulled correctly. I have continued returning because I enjoy the restaurant and really wanted to give the coffee side a fair chance, but after seven or eight disappointing experiences, I cannot recommend it for coffee. I hope they are able to improve the consistency and keep the necessary ingredients stocked because the restaurant itself has so much potential. :(
