I will start by saying: we will come back and try again. I am including an updated menu picture and the fall specials. They have a new A/C unit. We got the okra appetizer which gave us access to the $5 margaritas. Not strong but fine. Not the best, too sweet. They came with a gummy worm for Halloween which was cute. The okra was *chef's kiss* crispy and perfect. I got the crab cake burger and sweet potato fries based on reviews. The crab cake alone was delicious. The angus beef alone was great. Together was interesting. The sweet potato fries come with a dusting of sugar which I was not expecting. They were very crispy. I just wish they didn't coat them in more sugar. The honey dip was a yummy touch. My husband got the alligator bites basket which came with slaw and shoestring fries. The fries were perfect. The alligator bites were great! Some friends and I had lunch here today. The food was outstanding. Two of us had the salmon that rested on some onions and brussel sprouts! One guy had the Benedict that was topped with crab and cheesy grits on the side. He loved it. Our waitress was awesome, got orders to us quickly and with a great attitude while doing it! Figured we'd give a local business a chance. The first time we went it was ok, not great. The second, and last time was awful. We ordered 2 large catfish filet plates, all 6 fillets on each plate didn't add up to 2 fillets at other semi local restaurants. I suppose they mix drinks the same way, I ordered a top shelf margarita that zero alcohol flavor. The waitress told me the drink had 2 shots in it, they must have been thimble sized. They weren't very busy at all, but we still had to park a ways from the door due to recent rain and ankle deep water in the parking lot, we realized later the employees were parked right in the front door. The waitress actually stated "of course the fresh fish is frozen". To top it off, the entire time we were there the big screen was showing someone playing a video game, turned up really loud and very annoying. Just as a reference to my disappointment, this is the first time I've ever reviewed a restaurant in 55 years of eating. read more

Highlights: fish, $23, was over cooked and "1lb" crab was $40. Get the sweet potato fries and honey dip. 3.5 and here's why, got the crab plate and the wife had the snapper. Snapper was over cooked but not too terribly bad. The crab plate came out and was presented two clusters unseasoned. Not really a "full pound" but kinda of used to it since that's the way some seafood places serve it. First cluster was cooked perfectly. The second could have been cooked for about a minute longer. The thing that got me though was the crab was WAY above market price. $40 for not even a pound. Wish I had known that before ordering instead of it being the normal market price of $22-28 for a pound. MIGHT be back if they lower the prices. read more

Food is always phenomenal. Catfish filets are battered and cooked to perfection. The margaritas are so good. You can taste the alcohol. Mango and strawberry are frozen. They have wine, beer, and hard liquor. The top shelf margarita is so good. The crab legs are so easy to eat. Cooked perfectly. The seafood platter is awesome. The chicken tenders are good as well. The brussel sprouts appetizer is yummy. The mozzarella sticks are ok. The coconut shrimp is a good appetizer. Queso is made in house. It is pretty good. The crab cakes are good too. The only thing we really have not liked is the mashed potatoes. All the tacos are good. Wraps are good too. Tried almost everything on the menu. Staff is always super friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got to Austin's. The place was completely empty and it felt like the AC was out. The oyster appetizer was great, no complaints. I got the mahi mahi and my wife got the shrimp and grits. The mahi looked well seasoned but I quickly realized that it was severely overcooked. It wasn't tender and flaky, more rock solid like a frozen piece of fish that had been thrown in a skillet. And while the outside looked seasoned, to my surprise the actual taste was pretty bland. My wife's shrimp and grits was a bit better. The shrimp was cooked pretty perfect but the base had a hint of sweetness and not enough heat for my liking, but the wife seemed to enjoy it! Definitely worth a try and maybe your experience will be better. read more

My family ordered the Seafood Platter, and it was delicious, all of their breading was very light and crispy. The fried oysters were huge and with the money. Small hidden secret! Every plate was fantastic! Ordered oysters on the half shell and they were colossal!!! Waitress Zoe, was super sweet and not only helped with meal decisions, but came back quite often to check on us! I had fish tacos (amazing!) came w fresh tortilla chips, guacamole, etc. YUM! Also at our table was the fried shrimp platter, Crab cake burger and the "Angry Bird" Chicken sandwich (ALL amazing!) However, the biggest "WOW" was for the Fried Brussels Sprouts!!! Called in my order and waited about 20 minutes to come pick it up, because that's the point of calling it in, right? I get to the pick up window and I wait about 10 minutes until a lady finally comes and asks what my order name is, doesn't find it, then asks me what I got. Once we got that situation over with, I put my card in and the lady turns back and yells "Can yall start working on *my order*" ..... Okay.. she tells me to pull around and they'll bring me food in a minute. 20 minutes pass and i'm still sitting in my car so I call and they tell me my order is ready and to pull to the window. I ate there yesterday for the first time with my mom and my toddler. The food was amazing! We ordered the queso burger, fajita shrimp tacos, kids chicken strips and an appetizer that was fries covered in two types of cheese and bacon. My son ate both his chicken strips which surprised me because he can sometimes be the Gordon Ramsey of chicken. The burger and tacos were both delicious. Portion sizes were great and everything was cooked perfectly. Even though they were busy, and had a large party of people in there as well, the food came out quickly. The waitress did a great job, was very friendly, and even helped us decide what to order since it was our first time there. The dining room was clean and there were tvs around with the games on. I cannot imagine giving this restaurant anything but 5 stars. It was fantastic. All the way down to the substantial napkin needed for such meals. The seafood chowder was amazing. It was full of seafood. As much seafood as chowder. My blackened grouper sandwich was delicious. The brioche nun held up!! The remoulade sauce was very tasty. Fries were awesome. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience with food that was as good as many meals I've eaten in Destin. Please visit this amazing jewel of a seafood restaurant!! I will be a regular!! I had heard good things about the food. We had the grouper and it was over $20 a person, and one would expect a good meal for that price . Mind you this is not a fancy upscale place, and sometimes the hold in the wall has good food, but that was not the case here. The grouper was dense, and the batter was thick , tasteless and was not like anything that I have ever tasted on seafood or fish. The sweet potato fries were good, but my husbands regular fries were not good. No bread or anything as a side. I had a side salad and it was just a plain old bowl of lettuce with onions and cucumbers.. Captain D's taste better than this, and that is not saying much . We have only had carry out and maybe its different dinning in but so far we have been a handfull of times and the food is definitely not worth the price. Tried alot of different menu items and the best thing so far is the chicken sandwich which is about the same as Popeyes except you get lettuce and tomatoes for double the price. The last time we went the wait was more than double what they said it would take and by the time i drove home, about a 5minute trip at best, the food was cold and soggy. Really wish the seafood was better bc looked forward to a good place after moving closer to home from the desert. Wont be back for awhile needless to say. read more

$60 for 3 people for not-so-good fried food is ridiculous. The amount and quality of food you get for the price you pay is not worth it. I wish I would've taken a picture of the pathetic limp and very small amount of fries in each meal. The lettuce in our side salads was brown and there was a giant lump of solidified cheese in our queso. A pretty crappy first experience and there won't be a second trip. read more
