My Granddaughter had a wonderful Day of Beauty at the Shar key's Cuts for Kids Salon in Scottsdale, Valerie, the beautician was amazing and made Riley feel very comfortable. She sat in a Frozen car , then had her nails done ! she chose the gold metallic color polish and kept asking people to smell her Birthday Cake shampoo in her hair! I would recommend Sharkey's Cuts for Kids to anyone looking for a fun experience for boys and girls. There are videos to watch as well , colorful balloons hanging on the ceiling and you get a balloon when you leave and a lollipop!! I've tried scheduling an appointment for my daughter here two different times (months apart) and both times I get a call less than 15 minutes before saying the stylist is out and they want to reschedule. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't waste your time. read more

We were loyal customers to the location in San Antonio for many years and were excited when we moved to Mesa and saw that there was a location close to our house. After our experience in San Antonio, we were greatly disappointed in the sub par hair cut and inadequate customer service that we received. I wrote off Sharkey's and spent two years getting my daughters' haircuts at Great Clips or waiting until we made a trip back to San Antonio. I saw recently on a Mesa moms group that Sharkey's was under new management and decided to give it another try. Boy, were things different! Both girls loved not only having their hair cut and styled into twists and braids complete with glitter, but they also both got their nails painted. I also watched Tara who did one of my girl's hair do amazing things with a little boy who was very fearful of the clippers. *Update!* I left a review on the Facebook page and Sharkey's explained that they were under new management and to come try them again. I decided to go back to a different Sharkey's and they were very apologetic and explained that the old owners were no longer apart of this location! Took my son for his first haircut on his 3rd birthday. As a nervous mama since it was his first cut I have to say this place was phenomenal! From them being so excited to meet him and telling him happy birthday to making sure he had fun while giving him the cutest little man hair cut 10/10 recommend them and will be back! We got the first haircut package and got to take home a picture of his cut, a certificate and a lock of his curls. They have cute little cars for the little ones to sit in and offer Disney plus to distract them! My son loved it and they were so great and patient! Thank you Sharkey's! Customer service is poor. First time here showed up 10 mins before appt as requested didn't get a hello welcome in nothing! Definitely won't be coming back and for Jackie cutting my sons hair she didn't do a good job his hair is un even! But when a male customer comes in with their child "oh hello" they gave more attention to the Amazon worker then me I didn't get sh***r your spot sucks!!! Update: We went back today (1/24/20) and they said they are under new management as of the New Year. FANTASTIC visit. They are all about distractions which helped our little guy who hates cuts. They were patient and playful. The cut overall was a bit shorter then we wanted but we'll just communicate that better next time. Two weekends in a row we have tried to come here with the sign on the door saying open 10am-5pm and no one is there. It's 11:29, no sign saying lunch or anything. Took my 2 year old here and had the BEST experience. He's never had his hair cut by anyone except me, and I usually just cut it all one length with clippers. I didn't catch her name but I believe we saw Nikki? Regardless, I'm SUPER happy with the outcome. My son doesn't do well sitting still, but he was super excited to sit in the car and watch cartoons while getting his hair cut. He was scared at first but she did amazing and made the experience less scary for him and made sure he and I were both happy. He walked out without shedding a single tear, a balloon, and a lollipop! For a business that markets itself as a great place for a first haircut, our expectations were sadly too high. Based on the reviews we expected to be greeted with professionals who enjoy working with children. We took our toddler for his first haircut, with an appointment we made online. When we walked through the door we were told to go wash our hands and then we could be checked in. We went to wash up and there was no soap in the bathroom. We arrived 5 minutes before our appointment time. We waited over 20 minutes past our appointment time. When our child was scared and started to lose it, the staff laughed at him rather than offering any encouragement. We will not be back and wouldn't recommend. read more

We got my son's hair cut here because he wanted to play the game. But honestly we could have got a better cut at Fantastic Sam's for cheaper, or even paid the same price and went to M.U.G.S. The older lady who cut my son's hair wouldn't do a 0 to a fade on the sides. She said they'll only go to a 2 and no fade, so we settled on a gentleman's cut with a 2 on the sides and hard parts on both sides. Unfortunately I should have took a careful look at it before we left but I didn't (my mistake), because when I did his hair this morning his hard parts were so janky. We pulled up and parked, & when we walked up the shop was dark and locked. Called the phone number, and got the messaging service. We were just in there. We told the lady we wanted a 4 cut. The lady refused to do it, and manipulated her way into a 5 cut, which, we then found out, required gel. So now we had to buy the gel. And doing that enabled the lady to get out of washing his hair, even though we paid for it. She also left the front uneven and missed 2 patches of longer hair on the sides. I get that it's our job to speak up. We did try. But when the hairstylist won't listen and remains passive-aggressive while your 7 year-old is sitting there looking miserable, you just want to hurry up and get out of there. It was very manipulative and unprofessional. We will never be back, and I will be telling my friends with young kids about my experience, encouraging them not to go there. I will describe to them how sad and miserable my son was, and how heartwrenching it was to see that. A place for kids drove my kid away. I will drive every penny of business away from this place as I can. read more

DONT DO IT! Absolutely the worst salon/barber experience I've ever had with my kids (and I have 3). Would give no stars if possible. We got a welcome in from everyone, no eye contact initially. Then it was time for my 4yr old to get his haircut, he doesn't really wiggle around like most kids. The stylist was forcefully holding his head down. He's been to the barbershop and does pretty well.There was very little conversation or interaction with us or the kids.The stylist asked me to look at my son's hair I asked her to take the sides in a bit, like taper it because it didn't flow in front. She literally clippered a chunk into each side instead of using scissors. Ok then we move onto the next kid, my 3 year old.. we stated he had not been to a salon before. He did not like the cape around his neck and instead of trying to work with him/us they held his head down with alot of force all while running the clipper guard into the back of his head numerous times. He screamed and cried the whole time. I tried calming him but they would not stop trying to clip his hair. Like let's hurry up and get this done. No time, no care...for a sensory sensitive child this was a lot and I even stated that. They continued. I felt as if they tried to get me to just clipper both my boys hair, to get them out as fast as possible. This is not what we asked for or hoped for. I really hoped the bad reviews were wrong. I was incredibly wrong and will not ever be returning. 2 stylist and maybe 4 sentences total were spoken to us and the kids. It's hard to imagine that they work with kids everyday. Do NOT bring little kids here, the barbershop we go to is much more compassionate and interactive with kids. read more

They do mediocre haircuts on my son. Not outstanding, but not awful either. I almost always have to trim his hair around his ears and even out long spots on his bangs. The blending on his fades could be a little less choppy. But given his dirty blonde, straight as board hair with 2 major cowlicks, I let it slide. I get that his hair isn't exactly the best canvas for hairstyle art and attempting perfection on his hair is impossible. They're also super patient and calm with the kids, too. So that's a definite plus. What drives me absolutely bonkers about this place is the inability to get an appointment in a timely manner. No one should have to wait 10 days to get a child's haircut. It's not like my son is getting half a day's worth of hairstyling done. He basically gets a high and tight buzz cut with a little extra on top to spike up. And now that they're closed on Saturdays, it's made getting an appointment exponentially worse. I work long hours during the week: 9:30am-8pm on most days. My only off days are Fridays and Saturdays. Having to wait 2 weeks for a Friday appointment for a buzz cut is pretty ridiculous. For a haircut place to be closed on the weekends is a terrible business model. You're missing a lot of potential business. And they advertise in front of their store that they accept walk-ins, but they really don't. Anytime we've tried to do a walk-in, they either turn us away completely or schedule us for a much a later time. Usually, we just get turned away if we dare to walk in. Sadly, it looks like I'm going to have to find a different place for my son's haircuts. It's unfortunate, because I liked the stylists, and the place is very child friendly. But it's not worth waiting 2 weeks for a mediocre haircut. read more

10/10 recommend Tara! She gave our 20 month old son a haircut and was super sweet and detailed. She worked with him so well as he's not super happy when it comes to haircuts. We are SO happy with our little man's haircut! The place was also kept super clean and we felt very safe being in there. We took our 20 month old here today to get rid of her mullet and get her looking like a proper big sister before her brother is born. The stylist did a great job, was quick, and patient with us and our daughter. We were able to get lots of photos and the 1st haircut package, while being more than I really wanted to spend, was definitely worth it! All of the staff was very sweet and attentive.
