Great Company! I really liked how they did a comprehensive overview of the house. I have little…read moreto no tolerance for water issues (water damage expense as well as mold issues). Based on my experience, any proactive issues you can take to avoid any water issues is money well spent. I love how they work with you to stay in your budget but help you to track issues you may see in the future. In our situation, we have a gutter issue that showed up when we had the recent monsoon rain. We're going to fix our gutters (clean them out) but will track a second issue (we also have an issue with the volume of our 2nd floor gutter pours onto our garage roof as the 2nd floor and the garage roof gutter handle the same volume of water which means that if we max out the 2nd floor gutter, the garage roof gutter will be overflowing). They also pointed out that they can fix issues with our porch setting (a common issue given that NC builder often throw all their trash under the porch then bury the trash when they finish their construction). There is an easy fix for that issue. Also, they can fix an issue with our cement driveway slab tilting though it is more expensive given the size of the slab. We'll address this later.

Residential Contractor assistance in the current Raleigh building boom is suspect, at best so, honestly, I was still suspect. Tar Heel Basement scheduled me, but I'd called back needing next day inspection in attempt to fix a tile issue. No problem, they'd said.. so they sent someone from their other operation to support me. Me! Thank you Tar Heel Basement Systems, for focusing on the customer and building a capable brand. Tar Heel Basement Systems representative met me onsite and we reviewed the area. He not only looked at the area in that part of the house, but advised me on my crawlspace and the other floors in the house. I could not have been more impressed. In the end, the gentleman said, "Sir, you're in good shape here, you have a clean bill-of-health". Perfectly done - Thanks Tar Heel, for your professionalism and swift support. Had this been my own General Contractor, or one of the many subs... well, I have no doubt that I would have instead been quoted a large-sum. Thank you, Tar Heel Basement Systems. Professional. Realistic. Honest. Ethical.

Fast forward to now: They reached out saying that they wanted to come out to inspect their work from last year. Turned out it was just a sales pitch try to sell us more product. The sales person pointed out some shoddy work and said they would repair it under warranty. Now, crickets. We played phone tag for a while, but now they just won't reply. My issue is the dishonesty of claiming they wanted to "inspect their work" to make a sale, then run away when we ask them to make good.

Nonetheless, our contact person Madeleine and her crew came out to assess our foundation and cracks and some mold from the humidity in the crawlspace. In the end we went with mold remediation, a sump pump, new vapor barrier, joist lifts, and air sealing to keep out the creepy crawlies. Big ticket expense, but when compared to the competition, we went with them because of the thoroughness with the estimate interview and the willingness to answer all of our questions, they were also well-spoken of on other review sites including a popular large community message board, and the price was pretty comparable. Also, the crew was very good. My only ding would be was not putting the items in the crawlspace back in the order that it was originally, which saved space. But to add to their credit, we have one additional project that needs to be done outside of Little Corner's scope and the new company took a look at Little Corner's work and said "They did a very good job, this is how we would have done it." I think that speaks well of them as a whole. They may not be the biggest company, but they are professional, kind, and diligent about their work. Thank you, Madeleine and crew.

Given the age of our home, and the poor state of said pipes, we had a major water issue with excess water in the yard, by the foundation and entering the basement. Lindsley developed several rounds of proposals that would fit our needs and budget and followed through with excellent work. A full team was at our home working for about 6 days and the end result is better than we could have ever anticipated. One major selling point for us was the warranty. We gathered many quotes and the sheer size of our job meant we were going to spend a lot no matter what. It was reassuring to have a Jim available to answer any questions and a project manager on site (Rodger) who checked in regularly throughout the project and made sure we were comfortable with everything that was happening. Overall this was a great experience! Highly recommend to anyone facing similar drainage issues.

With our alternating extreme droughts and heavy rains, my house had a weak spot that continued to show movement. Jim Lindsley, true to his warranty, monitored the movement regularly and made some adjustments to the piers. Finally this year we discovered the horrible fact that the weak spot did not have a pier supporting it. Digging through the paper work from the past, I discovered the engineer's report which recommended 15 piers as compared to Jim's original plan of 13, focused mainly on the north end of the house where the big sinking was going on. The engineer had spread out the placement of the piers, but sadly left the weakest spot unsupported. I had ordered this engineer's report to be safe, but what cruel irony that his plan was wrong! Jim's original drawing would have protected my house so much better. I am sorry Jim gave in to the engineer's plan, but when you consider that now all these jobs are supposed to have an engineer's report, it puts the foundation companies in a hard place--look at this example. I recognize that there are many excellent engineers, but it's like the doctor joke: what do you call the lowest ranking student among the medical school graduates? "Doctor." Sometimes the people on the job with the experience DO know more than the "experts." In my case the engineer gets by with no consequences whatsoever. I'm the one who has to pay the higher price for the repair, but Jim Lindsley is giving me a discount for his part in the mistake of having followed the engineer's plan instead of his instincts. I find this honorable and decent. - Cecilia E. April 24. 2017
