i had food from the shamrock last night and it was the best food I've had in a long time!!! never going anywhere else again!!

This place is amazing. The food and drinks are amazing. The best part about this place is the bartender/ waitress Michelle. She always gives great service no matter if she tending bar or doing her waitress Job. Last night March 1 she went above and beyond her job. She was doing double duties with a packed bar. As soon as we sat at our table she gave us our beers and menu. And despite how busy it was we got our food super fast. And our beers were never empty. I can't understate what an amazing employee she is. This is my local spot and every time we go there we never disappointed. What has been a great low key spot left me with a very bad taste in my mouth last time we visited. When we go we have a crowd and we eat and drink with no concern. last time I visited I was with my grandson who at times gets cranky since he is 2 years old. we please him so he can be at peace and we can all enjoy the night. He loves pizza so we got him a slice of pizza from the pizzeria next door. The older lady owner who I do not even know cursed us out because we brought ONE slice of pizza for the baby just to keep him quiet while we eat and drink from the establishment. she cursed us out for one slice of pizza for the baby. We were in twice while we were in the neighborhood. Sean was there in the evening and Summer was there in the morning. Yes, having a drink in the morning is grand when you want one. The Guinness is fantastic. A true pull. A great atmosphere, patrons willing to make room for you and yours at the bar. Patrons hearing you speak of music and a band and next thing it's being played. From the outside you really couldn't get a feel for the place. When we entered the bar it was a little dark inside. There was a decent crowd for 3:00PM on a Monday. We order some drinks and some food. Waitress was super friendly and the food came out fast. Chicken wings and sampler platter were super delicious! They have a pool table and darts. Overall good experience and would recommend. Definitely visiting in the near future. Great job! read more

Meat, Potatoes and a Perfect Pint Had a juicy stuffed burger here with a perfect pint of Guinness served by an authentic bartender named Dominick. The steak fries were hot and fresh as well. I went to the back and played some pool with my co-worker. They have plenty of pool sticks, chalk and the miniature pool table accepts quarters. It was a timely treat because the old-school game is a rare find. If you don't have any quarters the bartender will gladly hook you up. After a few breaks, sunken shots and some bites in between, my beer glass was empty. We both were satisfied with the service and the classic pub friendly atmosphere. The greatest part about this bar was probably the prices. I was able to get a Sex on the beach for five dollars which is unheard of at the bars that I've frequented. This is the go to bar for when you want a chill night with the gals or the bros where you don't have to break the bank to have a good time. Although, it's not the first bar that comes to mind when I think of a night of entertainment and fun, it is definitely an option for if I want to spend a quiet evening getting wasted for cheap. read more

Exactly what a neighborhood bar/pub should be! A place where the neighborhood congregates after a long day at work. Excellent service, the servers remember you, and the food/drinks are great and at a reasonable price! There's a pool table, and darts as well. This is my go-to local spot. One of my favorite things about it is that when I want to go there, it's usually not busy. This weekend, it happened to be a bit crowded because someone had a surprise party there! Nonetheless, the bartenders were still amazing as usual. Was surprised at how good and fresh the food was. Ordered Monday night dinner specials of shepard's pie and roast beef. The portions are huge and included iceburg lettuce salads with tasty housemade oil & vinegar dressing. Shepard's pie was well prepared but could have used a bit more sauce/gravy. Roast beef served on garlic toast was outstanding. Well seasoned and juicy. Definitely want to try more food here. Beer selections limited but they had Kelso Brooklyn IPA which was nice. Bartender and waitress were friendly. As another reviewer mentioned, jukebox was fun. I didn't personally check it out but I heard a variety of songs from the 40's thru the 90's. I found myself further in the Bronx than I planned on going in this lifetime & I was so happy to stumble across this gem. I don't know if its my upbringing in an Irish/Italian neighborhood - But nothing feels more homey than a good ole no frills Irish bar. Strong drinks, warm staff, cheap delicious food, friendly crowd & right near the subway. Just can't go wrong. Mozzerella sticks - 2 (amazing) burgers - and 8 drinks came to $56.. Ok for what it was. We sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice. Poured a great pint of Guiness. My friend got the garlic style wings. Well cooked and seasoned. I got the Shamrock Special, grilled chicken, bacon, cheese on a hero. When I opened it up it had like a 3 ounce piece of chicken that barely touched half the sandwich. I showed it and right away they knew it was not right. How do you let it go out like that? They brought me another 3 ounce piece of chicken after I sort of moved the first piece onto one half and ate that. I think there was supposed to be tomato, but I did not get any. The chicken was properly cooked. The bread was fresh and slightly toasted. The bacon was just a few crispy morsels. The word "special" may be an overstatement. The bartender and server were very nice. I might have even given four stars but for the incredibly loud drunk screaming obscenities. The take away was he knows everybody in that effin neighborhood and he is effin nobody. This was about 8, 8:30 on a Friday. Kind of early for that and makes me think I would probably not go with my family. Seriously, my gf was scared and I don't blame her. Would I go back? Maybe. The Shamrock is a great neighborhood place to grab a few beers with some friends. I've been going here for a few years now and it is definetly one of my favorite bars. Tommy the bartender is the man. He is always good for a few laughs and is one of the best bartenders around. I never wait more than 2 minutes for a drink when im there. It has a nice little outside section in the back where you can smoke or just get some air if you want. It also has a small section with tables so you can sit down and eat. I've never had any of the entrees but they make really good finger food (chicken fingers, wings, mozzarella sticks etc.). The only problem is that you get some loudmouth neighborhood kids sometimes who get way too drunk and like to cause trouble but you're gonna get that in just about any neighborhood bar in the bronx. Tommy usually acts as the bouncer as well and manages to shut the kids up since he is a pretty big guy. The owners are very nice and like to buy the regulars a round of drinks from time to time. Also, this is a place where you will get cheersed regularly (every third drink is on the house). All in all its a nice place to have a few drinks with your friends. read more
