Not busy on the weekend and the person at the store was friendly. The strawberry lemon pie was good but why advertise it as strawberry lemon pie when the only strawberry present is the tiny slice on top. The strawberry here is just a garnish like a cherry on top of an ice cream. Not really bringing anything else to the party. Nevertheless it was a nice lemon pie. The potpie however was bad. The entire bottom was soggy, the filling gloopy with cold spots despite us asking for it to be warmed up. You're better off getting a potpie at KFC or one of those frozen one in a grocery store. We came here to Shampa's Pies on a weekend. Can't believe we haven't been here before since it's just up the road from a few other eateries we like to visit when we are in Pacifica. We ordered the personal cherry pie, the chocolate chip cookie, ice cream, and the pizza croissant. All the items were delicious. The ice cream is from Mitchell's, which is a SF brand and delicious. The mozarella croissant tasted great when we heated it up at home later. The cookie was also pretty good, but was not super fresh. And the pie was pretty good when. We heated it up but not as flaky as we would have liked. Overall, the desserts were great and we would come back. read more

Can't believe it took us this long to try this place- definitely the best pies in the area! We tried their mushroom quiche and apple pie and the crust is unmatched and sooo delicious. They also have Mitchell's ice cream and a good selection of flavors! Only downside is that they close around 5/6 on the weekends so make your purchases earlier if you can! Our new pie spot. Would have given a five star a couple weeks ago. Went in, ordered a couple cookies. They were very good. Thick, soft, and very flavorful. Loved the added salt flakes. A couple days ago, I was in the area and decided to grab a couple cookies again. Difference was night and day. These were rock hard. No exaggeration. Literally felt like a jar breaker, but a cookie. The owner is friendly I'll give him that. I found his pies to be pricey for the quantity and quality. I bought a mini pie for $6 and for what its worth it's smaller than a slice of pie at some other places with more crust and less of that rich pecan flavor. Also, I felt like this pie tasted a week or so old. Definitely did NOT taste like a fresh or one or two day old pie. So here's the thing about pecan pie, maybe his pecans were sitting awhile since they didn't have that bite, that crunch. Also it was overly sweet and didn't have a balance to cut through the sweetness, like too much corn syrup. Also, I found the crust to be lacking. It was soggy and heavy handed with butter. I know bakers who I associate with so I know about flavor profiles, and have had pecan pie numerous places and unfortunately this disappointed. Pecan pie should be a balance of sweet and savory with the pecans with a good balanced crust that is flaky but I just didn't get that in this pie. Maybe it was an off day for him, but my friend who will won't write a review because this is a small business had their gluten free pie and was excited about it at first because they have gluten free said it was also lackluster. read more

Probably the best pie experience I have ever had. There are several things I loved about Shampa's Pies: one being that it is a Black owned and operated pastry business, the fact that each pie was made by Haruwn himself, that they offer a variety of size options. This was our go-to pie place last year due to the pandemic and having an intimate family gathering. What do you do when your spouse likes Pumpkin and you like Apple, but don't want an entire pie? You get mini pies! It was absolutely perfect to get 5 mini pies and try a variety of flavors. I love the attention to detail in the packaging and the warm greeting I got when hurridly picking up a pie to go (and still beign greeted with a smile and gracious thanks from Haruwn). I was so sad to hear of Haruwn's passing. Such a sweet person who pursued his passion to the fullest. I am hoping his love of pies will live on in this shop, and I and cannot wait until they (hopefully) reopen again to get some good pie eats. read more

I love me some pies!! Haruwn is the pastry chef and owner. Running some good pies around here. I had to get the 5 for $30 small pies to try a little bit of everything. I got the blueberry cobbler, chocolate cream, apple and cherry cobbler, strawberry key lime. I've only had the cherry pie and I can say that it was so good. They are smaller than most tarts I've had. The price of $7.00, for me, is too high. I would pay $5.00 but no more based on the size. My friend and I went to Pacifica to gather food for a mini-birthday picnic at Grey Whale Cove State Beach. We stopped in Shampa's, and immediately, we felt like we were among friends or family. The friendly mother and daughter (Margaret and Simone?) were warm and helpful, explaining all of the flavors and specials. We bought 5 mini-pies, and my favorite was the chocolate (with Guittard chocolate!). The pie fillings were the stars: rich chocolate, bright fruit flavors, and not too much thickener or sugar. The crust didn't have much structural integrity, but was very tasty. Shampa's Pies flies the Progress Pride flag in front of their business. My friend and I are not part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, but that welcoming symbol made us even happier to be supporting this local business. Yes, we had a lovely picnic with Dinosaurs' bánh mì and our pies, but the delightful proprietors of that bakery added a special shine to that day. read more
