But…read moretoday I ordered two deli sandwiches, one on whole wheat and the other on a Dutch crunch roll. The Dutch crunch roll was very stale and not edible. The roll was so hard I could not bite into it. These sandwiches are $9.99 each, for that price everything should be really good quality. The woman working at the deli was very nice and did a good job making the sandwiches but I wish she would have noticed that the rolls were stale, and told me so up front that they were not fresh and to order a different kind of bread. (My husband gave me half his sandwich on whole wheat otherwise I'd still be starving. Am saving the meat and cheese from my sandwich for another time). I would have gone back and asked for a refund but not worth the drive from Hayward so am writing this review instead.

The California rolls at Safeway are a decent option if you're looking for a quick grab-and-go meal…read more They taste fresh and are convenient when you don't want to wait or spend too much time deciding. That said, the portion is a bit small--just 8 pieces--so it might not be enough on its own. Pairing it with something else definitely makes it more filling. Overall, a solid choice for convenience rather than a full meal.

We even told Melissa or Melinda that we've had issues in the past and really needed the chicken to be correct and ready. The day of, we called to make sure the chicken was being cooked and would be ready at 4pm. We were told the chicken was going in that moment. Once again, we showed up right on time, and not only was the chicken not cooking or ready at all, they didn't even have the chicken we asked for. We only wanted legs and thighs, which Melissa guaranteed she would put 18 pieces aside in the morning (we spoke to her the night before), and she said she would PERSONALLY make sure we were taken care of. What a waste of time and money. We ended up with breasts and legs, which we did not want, but since our event was at 5pm, we had no choice. We will definitely never be back for the chicken at this location again.

A motherly woman in an apron told me about the 11.99 lunch special: you get a choice of noodles or fried rice with two items. I selected the fried rice with spicy green beans and mushrooms and tofu. The portions were large. She asked if I wanted to take my order to go or dine in. I opted to stay in one of the small booths. She said the special comes with choice of soup. I selected the hot and sour soup. While the soup was bland, I found my food good. I would have appreciated having some chili sauce available but there were not any condiments to go or on the booths. I had plenty of leftovers.

That's a lot more than Safeway did the last time a similar thing happened there. What a pleasant surprise. Thank you, Smart & Final. Review adjusted. Usually a good store, but check your receipt. Why did I shop at Smart & Final on March 30, versus Safeway or Costco? Because of the sale prices on Challenge Butter w/Canola Oil 15oz for $4.29 (butter prices are going up) and their First Street Sparkling Water 12pk for $4.49. Both sale prices are current and do not require a digital coupon. I did scan my app successfully, however, because the $1.49/lb spiral cut ham price worked correctly. The butter and water did not. Looking at my receipt at home, the butter rang up at $5.59 and the water at $5.79 +CRV, and I bought 3 of each, so they got me for $7.80 total over. It's not worth shopping here to save money on certain items if I'm paying it right back on other, mis-priced items. At least the ham was good.

We got about $60 worth of cooked foods to try at home. First, the cucumbers in their Gimbap was rotten. Had to throw out $12 of food. It seriously gave the family stomachaches. Their bulgogi bowl is ground beef rather than sliced beef. Again, I feel like they are using meats that have gone bad or on the verge of going bad. Then we got Spam Musubi, and the rice was mushy with a weird taste. How can you f**k up steam rice?! We were so disappointed, we went to Kukje in Daly City the next day as a comparison, and not only it was cheaper, but everything tasted fresh.
