While I was at the customer service counter, another customer said that they she frequently has problems with the prices they have posted in the store as well. Fortunately, this problem is easily resolved by shopping elsewhere.

Looking at my receipt at home, the butter rang up at $5.59 and the water at $5.79 +CRV, and I bought 3 of each, so they got me for $7.80 total over.
