Possibly one of their worst locations I've ever been to. We reluctantly stopped in here last minute for some things only to be disappointed again. About half of the dozen items we purchased were ringing up incorrectly according to their floor price sticker. It might've been the cashier's first day which wasn't the issue, being overcharged is. Came home to find a block of Lucrene cheese, unopened, had mold around the edges. We're not giving this store any more chances. read more

Amazingly organized! Drove by this location, and decided to get a drink. Selection is good. You can get good value if you have the app. Service at the check out was quick. Self check out staff was quick to jump in to help too I wish she was less busy at the other customer service counter though. Ambiance could hv been brighter. I'm not a huge big box grocery guy, but living deep in the suburbs, it is just a fact of life. I'll never do ALL my shopping, in one store, on a regular basis. I'll use different stores for different reasons/specials. So my area has 5 Lucky Stores all within a 5 mile radius. And amongst that selection, this one is now my favorite. This store is huge, much bigger than the other 2 much closer to me. Wide aisles and just a lot of space. It is easy on my eyes and great for my desire for personal spacing. I also like to go early in the mornings or those in-between hours between lunch and dinner. Insures that mellow traffic of people inside the store and cars out in the parking lot. Their produce area is well stocked and well kept. I'll go to nicer stores for the bulk of my produce, but to keep fresh produce in my kitchen, this place helps. The meat area is my main draw here. I'll often just walk in to see what's on special that week and I can usually walk out with something. For some reason I'll have a better success rate here than the other Lucky Stores around me. Maybe bigger store = bigger inventory? Also I find it easier to get help from the employees behind the counters. The smaller ones near me, I find it extremely difficult to get something from their display case. Here I find it not only easy, but quite friendly as well. Like they are glad to have been able to help. Crazy thought huh??! Haven't really utilized the rest of the store yet, but in just these few draws, it is enough for me to visit every 6-10 days or so. After a spontaneous donuts run, my friends and I stopped by Lucky's to pick up a couple of items. Walking in, the store was brightly lit and was very empty on a Friday night. We perused the aisles - everything was well organized and stocked. The aisles are wide enough to maneuver multiple shopping carts at once. I was really impressed with how clean the store was kept and how each department was designed. The department signs are large enough to read from afar, making it easy to locate the area you're looking for. The store operates its normal hours during these COVID times. Although I may not live in the area, I plan to stop by for my grocery needs if I'm nearby. read more

This review is mostly for their bathroom and customer service. Me and my 2 year old went across the entire store to find the restroom once we found it it was locked with a code. No way to contact anyone to open it I ended up calling them to the number on the website. The man who answered was very short and rude. I let him know I was by their bathroom if he could provide me the code and he very rudely said "NO, I'll send someone". Ok I hung up and waited. When he got there he opened the door to find the most disgusting bathroom I have ever seen. What is the point of the lock if they are not keeping it clean at all. All the prices labels and WIC labels are wrong. They tend to put the sales price of similar product wrong. Not only that, their WIC label does not match what is shown in the app when you scan it. They also set up password for the restroom. read more

This store has been our go to store for many years. However, it has gone from bad to worse. Customer service is awful now. Cashiers are very rude and every employee seems to be unhappy! I bought a gift card for my mom on Mother's Day and they charged me for it but the gift card had a zero balance on it. Went to the store to fix the issue today and management didn't even want to help. I've made some great friends with the people who work here and I feel sorry for them because Ive seen their character change from happy to miserable. On another note, the produce section is awful. They charge an arm and leg for fruits and veggies and they aren't even fresh and you never really see anybody taking care of that area. This store needs new leadership. It all starts from the top! Dear Lucky, I've been shopping at Lucky for a very long time & most of the time I received really great services. But recently I was very disappointed that one of the staff members name Chris, location in Union City CA, he was super rude & disrespectful to me. The Lucky app have coupons & you must added first before you buy the item. I had to ring up for myself first & then do a separate transaction for my sister with her phone # since I was there and buying groceries for her. But Chris refused to let me do that saying my sister have to be there in person to buy her own stuff. Where in your policy say that I can't buy groceries for other people? That was very bazaar that I was being treated that way. Yes, he took the item back and did not let me do a separate transaction saying that person had to physically be there! If you don't want us to use the coupon on your app, then you guys shouldn't have it available! At Safeway, I can ring up multiple transactions and they don't care. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but the staff here is either disinterested or outright rude..I bought a condiment from the store only to realize it was expired..I went back to buy some other knickknacks and to also tell them the next day..After being directed to random spots within the store, I was finally asked to go to aisle 6 where the cashier was rude..Her first question was "Are you sure you bought it here?" I told her I did and that they are still selling expired products, as I checked again..She didn't apologize, made it sound like I was being a major inconvenience, ringed up what I was buying and asked me to pick up the extra change almost implying "here's your money back, now stop complaining " I didn't take the change, told her it wasn't about the money, that I know they must be stretched thin due to the pandemic and just wanted them to know they are still selling expired product. To this she replied loudly "Ya, I heard you!" I was polite throughout, hate confrontations, so just walked away.. Would have given this place 0 stars but the 2 stars are for the baker (I think her name is Morticia) who was amazing, went above and beyond a few months back to help us pick a cake. read more

This is my usual Lucky store but they have no idea how to use gift cards for some reason and they don't have the patience to try to figure it out. On two different occasions I attempted to use a gift card and end up having to pay out of pocket instead. I just used the same exact gift card at rite aid and it went through perfectly fine. I do enjoy a can of beer now and then, but the perfume on the beer cans I can do without! I mean really who puts on that much perfume that it sticks to aluminum cans? At the end of my work day I like to relax and have a beer. I wiped off the can twice and can still smell it! I know they won't do anything about it. So I just won't purchase beer here anymore! The bathroom is straight from a horror movie! And anyone can walk in on you while your in there. Sometimes the toilet paper is on the floor other times it's leaning against the wall. This is a Lucky's in the heart of Union Landing which was the spot to be back 1999. Wow, I feel old. Either way, this is a larger than life Lucky's and you pretty much will be able to find most of your grocery needs here. Like milk. Everyone needs milk right? They have a self check out which is great, and it seems like the world is heading in a direction where we won't have to interact with other people anymore. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing? Either way, this is a grocery store within a prime real estate location, and the prices are pretty fair overall. Can't go wrong with that. read more

I never like to use the work "Hate" but I hate coming to this store! EVERY time I come to this store it's a terrible experience, they hire the rudest most unprofessional people possible. This is a reflection that the manager is so careless about the store these people feel they can do anything including ignoring customers to text and watch videos on their phones. The supervisor knew the two self check out machines were glitching. So instead of using common sense to close them down she says "yeah they haven't been working all day" no now I have to move all of my items to the next register, she then says that one isn't working either. So when are you going to use your common sense to either reboot them or shut them down. Why keep making customers ring up ALL their items just for them to have to move to another machine? Then the boy with the glasses is cursing the whole time while he's sitting there while the supervisor thought it was more important to show him a video on the phone while Customers are waiting for them to fix the computers they're sitting there laughing and cursing like this is just a joke. I don't need a fake sympathetic reply from the manager or corporate. Use that time to talk to these employees, the only time employees feel comfortable being this careless is when there's no real leadership over head . You would think a supermarket is a supermarket but it's not. For some reason, just this particular location has lot of expired items. I feel as if they don't restock as often as they should. There has been multiple times that I've purchase something expired and had to come back to return it or exchange it. Sometimes I couldn't even exchange it because everything they had in stock for that item was expired as well. Just be sure to check the expiration date before you buy! read more

I have watched this store deteriorate from a pleasant place to shop to dirty restrooms, poorly stocked shelves, rude staffed nightmare of a store. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I came here to buy a couple of blocks of cheese. When I got home, after opening a " sealed " package I discovered mold. Yes mold on a sealed package of cheddar cheese. I'm done with you guys. I don't want any more crappy produce, empty shelves and very few carts. You want a cart? Go find it. Safeway here I come!. I'll drive across town to do my shopping. Shame on you and your manager. I've been shopping at the Union City Lucky since moving here 20 years ago. Back then their original location was on Dyer and Alvarado Blvd., behind the Union 76 gas station. I know most of the clerks there and they know me by name or at least by sight, and I find them all friendly and courteous. I like to order the fresh-made sandwiches at the deli counter, but I try to get there before the lunch crowd, it can get very busy there. I have to say though, I miss the tables and chairs that used to be in the deli area so you could sit down and eat your lunch right there. About their 2 for 1 pricing: A checker told me that you actually have to buy both of something to get the deal. You can't just buy 1 and expect the discount, like at Safeway. Best of all is the self check-out service. read more
