And it's so tasty, I'm willing to endure their truly awful Youtube music playlist that consists of Justin Bieber, "Shots, Shots, Shots" remixes, and Star Wars ad breaks. I verified my Youtube playlist suspicion with our server. lol. ***** I. FOOD & DRINK This is not your fancy white plate seafood restaurant. It's an immerse-your-hands-in-buttery-cajun-goodness and are-my-hands-really-burning type of place. In other words, I wouldn't bring a woman there on a first date. I'd bring someone I thought I was going to marry, and see if she would hold up... #wifeyyes or #wifeyno Anyways, here's what you need to know about the food. A) SEAFOOD Except for the oysters, you must order them per pound. -Blue crab -Dungeon Crab -King Crab Legs -Snow Crab Legs -Crawfish -Shrimp -Clams -Oysters B) SEASONINGS Except for the oysters (which you eat raw), your seafood boil can incorporate any combination of the following: -Cajun -Lemon Pepper -Garlic -Errthang (All of the above) -BBC Special (Some kind of curry mix) There are also four different types of spice levels, and we went with medium. C) FRIED FOODS They also have different types of fried goodies to eat: -Fried Catfish -Fried Shrimp Basket -Chicken Tenders Basket -Fried Oyster -Fried Calamari -Lemon Pepper or Cajun Wings D) EXTRAS AKA Sides... -Gumbo -Paella -Corn -Potatoes -Cajun Fries -Sweet Potato Fries -Steamed Rice My girlfriend and I ate the following: *Two lbs Of Crawfish: We went with the Cajun and garlic mix and asked for extra butter. The sauce was absolutely addicting, and the crawfishes had plenty of meat in their bodies and heads. We loved the generous portions of garlic and the medium spice hit the spot without burning our faces. I WOULD EAT THEIR CRAWFISH EVERY DAY. For Atlanta, the crawfish was pretty fresh. *One lb of Snow Crab: We asked for the same seasoning, and the crab was absolutely tasty. *One lb of Shrimps: Hearty shrimps that come with their heads. They're easy to peel and soak up all those juicy flavors quite well. **Fried Calamari: Perfectly fried and delectably soft. **Sweet Potato Fries: I'm not a big sweet potato fries dude, but I ate just about all of them. They're soft, crispy, and sweet. ***Oysters: I had a couple of their Blue Points (Long Island Sound) and Freeland Creek (Prince Edwards Island) oysters. The Blue Points were all right. I definitely preferred the Freelands, since they were a bit sweeter and had a bit more brine to them. II. SERVICE Our server was very nice. She also checked upon us plenty of times, without being annoying. She gave great recommendations, too. III. ATMOSPHERE/ DÉCOR You can't tell from their outside how cool it looks inside. They have plenty of seafood décor (imagine anything that would come from a ship like nets, wooden booths, etc...) and long tables for large groups. It's fun! Unfortunately, as I mentioned before in the intro, the music is quite awful there. And we had to ask them to turn down the bass (which they did). I don't need to listen to club music, as I stuff crustaceans down my face. They should consider putting on something more chill like Otis Redding or, I dunno, New Orleans jazz. I can only listen to Bieber mixes for thirty seconds or so before I go insane. IV. PRICES Expect fluctuating market prices for the seafood (like many places). Oysters are $3.25 or less, however, they might have specials that day. Fried foods are under $10. Extras are $3 or less. --For our feast, we spent about $65 (without tip), so I think it's more than affordable. V. OVERALL Aside from the music, I don't have much to complain about. The Boiling Crawfish serves some of Atlanta's best, and I can't wait to return. read more

Came here with a girlfriend because I was craving cajun-styled crawfish. I use to come here when this place was Cafe 101 and was impressed with how they had renovated the place. It reminds me of a Joe's Crab Shack with tons of nautical-themed decor on every square surface. They also had a bar with several TV for sports viewing. Tables are covered with plastic so you can really get down and dirty. Prices for this place is steep! The menu for a la carte seafood all states "Market Price," like that's super helpful. You can actually find out what the market price actually is via a black board next to the bar. I initially got excited looking at the lunch menu and seeing crawfish combo for $7.99 but was quickly disappointed when I found out it was only for 1/2 pound of crawfish. I'm more of I-need-atleast-2-pounds kind of girl. So I went ahead and ordered a la carte 2 pounds of crawfish for $7.99 per pound, which did not include any sides. They really do charge you for every single thing here. I saw tartar sauce for 50 cents. Major turn off. Now for the food, it comes in a plastic bag and you're given a bib and plastic gloves to eat it with. So yes, prepare to look ridiculous and get dirty. I went with the "errything" seasoning with medium spicy for my crawfish and did not find it spicy AT ALL. The flavor, despite not being spicy, was good. Corn and potatoes were really good and very well seasoned! However, the star of the show, the crawfish was awful. I understand it's not yet crawfish season but I do have several friends who own crawfish restaurants and you have to have some quality control with these mud bugs. Most places will take crawfish off their menu if the shipment they receive doesn't look good. I was shocked when I saw what I was actually being served. They were all tiny, about the size of my pinky. Meat was soggy/mushy. Several were rotten so I just had to throw them out. So disappointed. But let me start with the positives. We arrived with a large group os 25 people, but had called ahead. They were ready for us (early) as a few of us showed up before our reservation time of 12pm. Our table was already put together (mostly) and so we were seated right away. Our server (we had 2 main ones) got the two of us water and menus and we just chatted with each other until the rest began to arrive and be seated as well. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Ordering was super easy as they use iPads with wristbands that just pop onto their arms for ease of use. They coded each order with our names and a code for our table and seat number (for example I was B3Lindy). Very smart and organized. Helpers came by with pitchers of water often and so our glasses stayed filled - I'm not sure if anyone ordered more than water, except for a few beers. Unfortunately, that's where the pluses ended. I ordered the fried shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. While the fries were a stand out (tempura-type batter and perfectly cooked), the shrimp was atrocious. While I can handle heads on shrimp, it was done for laziness. The shrimp were peeled, but not deveined (gross). But even worse, these must have been frozen shrimp that were then battered and over cooked, because they were like rubber, dry, tasteless rubber. Actually, more like cardboard. I ate two - dunking them in the store-bought cocktail sauce did not even help the situation. What a disappointment. I watched as my friends ate other items around me - but they were quite ho-hum about their choices as well. Discussions of over-salted, microwave-steamed in bag food. And a consensus about not planning on returning. I will say that checking out was relatively simple. Those iPads were back and our server simply found our names, swiped our cards and we could click a tip amount and sign our names (with a finger) and a receipt would print out. Give us the ability to email ourselves a receipt and this would be a perfect system. However, an awesome POS does not allow you to have sub-par food that is frozen and then microwaved. When you first walk in, it looks like Red Lobster on steroids with all the fishing equipment decor. They specialize in seafood, boil or fried and extras, such as gumbo, paella, corn, potatoes, cajun fries, sweet potato fries, and steam rice. My mom, bf, and myself came in on a Sunday afternoon, a hour after they open so we were 1 of the 3 tables. They had a staff of two, so even though they weren't busy, it takes time to wave one of the 2 down. They use tablets to order and as payment which is nice so that I can see when they take my payment. They offer blue crabs, dungeness crabs, snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, and clams at market price so if you're on a budget, make sure you inquire about the prices. The crawfishes comes in small ($5.99) or large ($8.99) which kind of threw me off as I am use to places that do not have price difference for sizes. Maybe fresh versus frozen. With the boil seafood, they offer flavors, cajun, lemon pepper, garlic spread, Er'rthing (which is all 3 mix) and BBC special (a curry like sauce); in addition with the level of spiciness that you would like. Fresh oysters are lined very nice in a metal tray on top of the bar which is decorated nicely, each oyster has a tag that dictates the name of the oyster. Each oyster ranges from $1 to $3.25. They also offer crispy fried food, catfish, shrimp, chicken tenders, oysters, calamari, and wings. We order one pound of crawfish with "Er'rthing" and "BBC special," one pound clams (er'rthing sauce), fried shrimps (comes with fries), gumbo, paella, and lemon pepper wings. I would recomment to skip the crawfish, the sauce/seasoning does not seep into the crawfish, it feels like they crawfish were defrosted and tossed in the bags filled with the sauce. Even when you pluck the tail out to dip it into the sauce, it doesn't mask the fishy taste. Er'rthing is the sauce to go for, the BBC wasn't that great. Clams, being that it opens after cooking and was able to be covered in the sauce and the best thing, the clams did not have sand so they were very clean. Fried shrimps (had the head still attached) were okay, it wasn't memorable. Gumbo with rice is okay. Paella, definitely do not get, it is just fried rice with seafood (only mussels and susage) mixed in... The lemon pepper wings are really good, they are friend and mixed in the bag with the sauce. The wings are made the way the Chinese restaurants would make them, just with lemon sauce mixed. They also have fresh slices of lemon in the bag. My bf and I shared a couple of oysters (sorry I forgot which ones ) but they are definitely a must get! It is very fresh, cold, and the right briney taste. All in all, there are certain items that I would come back for will be oysters, wings, and clams. read more

Food was great. I used to work at a seafood take-out place and loved the food there. I have to say this place has really good and authentic seafood flavor. The wait can be irritable during crush hour what the food's quality makes up for it. Attached is the take-out bag for one blue crab that was missing from a combo that we had. If you've had good seafood from a real New Orleans crawfish boil, this won't make the cut. Something about their seasoning was off - there was a very curry-like flavor to it, not Cajun at all. And extremely salty. The meat didn't taste fresh. Also, we checked in to get the free 1 lb of crawfish, but it was more like half a pound -__-. We also ordered some sweet potato fries that had added sugar on it...granted, who goes to a seafood restaurant and gets sweet potato fries, but still. I visited Boiling Crawfish (formerly Cafe 101) last Sunday. The place was pretty dead for it to be Sunday at dinner time. The decor is your typical faux nautical nets, buoys, shells, etc. Very Joes Crab Shack-esque. There were a ton of TVs, so you could definitely come here and get your sports fix while you eat. The food was good, not great but good. I ordered Snow crab legs, corn, red potatoes and fries. There is an art and almost a science to getting flavor to penetrate hard shelled seafood. The crab legs were more on the bland side. The potatoes and corn were decent. Corn was extra starchy for some reason. & the fries are brought out in a paper box, trapping all the steam in and allowing them to get soggy. All in all, I would come back to give them a second chance, with another menu item. 'The Boiling Crab' dinner ware was also off putting, seeing as though that's a completely different establishment. Side note: the fellow next to me was complaining when his shrimp basket came out and the shrimp still had the heads. So beware of that when you order shrimp, if that's not your thing. The interior decor definitely surpassed my expectation, one of their employees/management(?) told me everything was custom made. It was cute, cozy, and nautical. Boiling Crawfish is a little above your average seafood place. You can order crustacean and shellfish by the pound and to your taste. They have raw oysters and side items as well. They also have a large selection of beer and wine. They have 2 large projectors overhead and multiple tv screens. Various festivals were blaring overhead as we ordered and ate. which was kind of a turn OFF. I spoke to someone about their music choice though, hopefully they choose something more appropriate for dining. i digress, We ordered 3 Lbs of crawfish at 8.99/lb cajun/mild 2 Lbs of shrimp at 10.99/lb garlic/mild paella 3.00 They brought out bibs and gloves for us. (the gloves are difficult to use because they are big, and permeable) The garlic flavoring on the shrimp is delicious. The cajun flavoring on the crawfish was good but the meat had no flavor. Three years ago I couldn't get enough of this place. Groupon had a deal and I went for it. Boy am I glad I did. My only advice is don't wear your favorite shirt or jeans... It gets messy even with the protective bibs that they give you. Let's see what haven't I ordered from here.... I've had every one of their boils. The appetizers are all good. you get more than enough with the appetizers so don't overdo it save room for your entree. In my opinion this place rivals the other crab boil spots. I feel like you get more here and it tastes fresher. The drinks are good too. Be careful when selecting thr spice level for your boil because hot is HOT!!!!! P.S. My favorite place is Boiling Crab located in Dallas, Texas and this definitely gave us everything we were looking for! We went for lunch around 4 so there wasn't a wait time, I can't speak on the complaints I've read about that, sorry! I skimmed & scanned thru all crawfish places and picked out this one and juicy crawfish. We decided to try this place out first since its nearby. They only have 1 combo with 1 snow crab, 1 blue crab, 1/2 lb crawfish, 2 corns ,couple pieces of sausage, and 2 potatoes,no sub. Or you can pick 3 from given list to get ur combo (1/2 lb of seafood I believe). I do recommend them to add more combo selection. I got cajun flavor but too grease bc of butter so harely taste any sauce. I didnt finish and i dnt think i will come back. My boyfriend and I went here because it was on Eater, and we were hearing good things about this place from some friends. It was such a disappointment. We still couldn't figure how we could've improved the experience. Taste: 1 I got fried oysters. BAD mistake. I think the oysters were old. They tasted slightly rancid. They were large, and breaded heavily. The texture was off. 20/10 would not recommend. My boyfriend got the fried seafood combo. Again, nothing he ate was fresh. The texture of everything he had was tough. The taste was fishy and not in a good way. Fortunately, there was one highlight to our meal and it was our side of paella. It wasn't the classic Spanish style. It was more like fried rice with specs of scallops and sausages which I think were andouille or chorizo. It tasted better than our entrees. It was still a disappointment that it was just fried rice. Service: 3 Our waitresses were friendly. We got our food in a timely manner. Nothing to rave about. Price: 4 The prices were affordable, but at the sacrifice of the quality of the food. The prices are the reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1. Overall, the food was a major let down. I don't know if it was because we went on a Sunday when they were busy. A lot of places will bring out they're more expensive and fresher items when the restaurant is busy. I took my family there tonight for my granddaughter birthday and 2 of the kids ordered wings and it took over 30 minutes to get them and I had to ask about why is it taking so long the customer service is the worst I had in a very long time. And this was my first time there I don't think I will be going back my food wasn't good at all I taste garlic more than anything else on my crab legs. Everyone else at the table was done earlier and these 2 babies was still waiting on their food and they didn't offer to take them off!!! read more

If you are a fan of the Juicy Crab franchise, you may not like the seasoning here. I asked for no sausage in my seafood boil. They forgot. I took it back and reminded them that I didn't want sausage. They took it out and gave the seafood back. I got nauseous because I could still taste the sausage juice. He insisted that they cooked the sausage separate. I definitely won't eat here again. My niece liked hers though. read more
