I ordered 2 pizzas over the telephone on Friday morning, both regular crust, light cheese, well done, and extra sauce; and a box of large mojo potatoes, well done too. I also requested 2 extra chicken boxes, the ones that have a carrying handle--this so I could place the pizza slices inside and therefore walk around a bit and shop without without carrying the bulky large square pizza boxes. I haven't visited a Shakey's since MC Hammer was performing on TV. VERY VERY reluctantly I decided to come since my eating partner had a sudden craving. For anyone who has yet to visit Shakey's... don't expect 5 star restaurant taste at your local Shakey's or you will be disappointed. Be like me and take it for what it is. A family friendly local chain restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered thin crust chicken bbq pizza, pan crust Shakey's special ($1 more), and 6 pieces of their wings. Their thin crust isn't your normal thin and it's a bit thicker but it's crispy and I liked it more than their pan. Their chicken on the pizza were big chunks and I sort of wished it was smaller and more flavorful but with a little BBQ sauce it was fine. Their Shakey's special had a LOT of olives. Too bad I'm not a fan of canned olives What impressed me the most was their wings. They were really crispy. Plus all the dipping sauce you want is free. The service was awesome. The servers all had smiles and were polite as can be. I saw kids play in the arcade area and it sort of reminded me of a much much smaller Chuck E Cheese less the violence. I don't live in Paramount so this was my very first visit to the Shakey's location I had went in with my family and my cashier named Gustavo was very helpful with explaining the menu items and the prices. Found a hair in my mashed potatoes when I went on Saturday 5.20.2017. I let the lady at the cash register know and she said "sorry we will go ahead & switch out the mashed potatoes." She didn't offer to give me a free meal or even half off. At least some type of coupon or something...she just switched out the potatoes. I called 11 times!!! 7 out of those they hung up after answering, busy! sure whatever it was but why even pick up??? it was an hour before closing but still very rude service!!! If I could give zero stars I would. We ordered online for super bowl Sunday ( did expect a LITTLE wait) we ordered the family deal and an extra 8 piece chicken. It said it would be ready by 246pm. So, we get there and there is a line to the door. We wait in this line for possibly 30 min. We get to the counter say we had an online order they have the pizzas ready but say we need to wait for chicken. WELL we see them place a box of chicken on our pizza great we need to wait for the other 8 piece BUT one of the workers keeps taking the box on our order for other orders it is already 345 we have been waiting for an hour! We keep asking and asking when will it be ready. At this point we would rather get our money back which was expensive as hell anyway. She finally gets our chicken after we had to basically keep asking because it's 4pm now. No apology. Nothing. Of course our pizza is not that great because it's been sitting for OVER AN HOUR. I will NEVER return to the Downey location. Prepare yourselves for a busy day. It was horrible waiting especially with toddlers. We had our daughter's 11th birthday there on the 12th of October. We were so happy and grateful for the amazing service that we received. Everyone was attentive in particular Ceasar. This pizza is sooo good! Why didn't I try it before?? Its a combination of BJ's pizza with Pizza Hut! Supper yummy! They have happy hour after 9pm drinks specials 16 oz for $3.99! A small pizza has 8 slices and only $6.99 and mojos $1.99 for a half plate. They have a bunch of lunch Mon - Fri from 11am - 2pm for only $7.49!! The pizza was mid-minor (which was below mid and mid-major), the pasta was mid-minor, and the whole place had a Hometown Buffet type of feel to it during their lunch buffet hours. I ate here recently for the first time in maybe a year, and it was not the best experience. Part of that might be due to the fact that I went with my mother, and it's hard to spend more than 10 minutes with her before I start spiraling into a hatefest, but mostly it's because not only is the food still low quality, but there are even less options now than before. There used to be a salad bar, and now it's a bowl of lettuce and some sad little sliced vegetables and unlabeled buckets of dressing. There used to be jello and pudding and a frozen yogurt dispenser and cinnamon roles, and now there is some weird faux apple pizza. And the pizza itself is so cheap and ugly, it looks like it came frozen from the 99 Cent Store down the block. And the root beer from the soda dispenser tasted rancid. And okay, I accept that this place is more suitable for bringing your kids and letting them run wild, but I hate your kids and they shouldn't bother me when I'm trying to zone out my mom's critiques. It's just not my scene. But I don't know, maybe I'll come back. Whatever. read more

Well it's quite the thing to order a pizza and expect almost an hour for delivery but when you come to a place like this and wait an exaggerated amount of time for your pizza is quite impressive sitting waiting for your pizza and people coming in after you ordering after you getting there food before you....The customer service is poor I sure as heck wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. This Shakeys is ok..the times I've gone its been dead..the PCM here just like everywhere else is over priced. The game room needs a make over .. I know technology has a big part but make your shakeys fun..kids dont have fun there..they try to. I did the Buffet once ..the salad bar is not fresh.. they taste like is the same items being put out there.. chicken is good But Super extremely greasy..the mojos super dry.. in the n Buffet, you dont have to settle for the pizzas they have..you can request your favorite pizza like the Fire House which is Delicious and they'll gladly make it..well..I did just that as I got there..and waited for them to make because I didn't want a jalapeño and chorizo if that's what it was..or thin crust hawaiian..or a think pepperoni pizza..I wanted a firehouse ..well.. the lady said sure..go have a seat and I'll let you know when its ready..30 mins later she finally did it .. and didn't let me know ..everyone else saw it..and when i went to get some..it was gone ..it is what it is.. other Shakeys like the one near west Hollywood..the manager will come to your table and give you the slices you want of the pizza you ordered so you get 1st priority.. not here..so I'm giving them 2 stars because that's really where they're at read more

I'm iffy on this location. I've been this coming to this location since high school, which was many, many years ago. Back when it was a Shakey's, changed to a Big's, and then back to a Shakey's. I've been here for the bunch a lunch, team luches, and family dinners. I recently called to find out about their party packages because we were going to celebrate my husband's birthday and we wanted somewhere friends and family can join us, yet affordable for a large group. I expected a different type of service because I called a few weeks before and expected to have a reservation booked and paid; however I was told that they would put me in the books and I can a pay a few hours before we arrived - this had me skeptical because I've been to another Shakey's where one can reserve a section for 2-3hrs and pay before the date. When I got there to pay a few hours before, the cashier told me not to worry we were the only group that night and there were no sport events so we did not have to worry; however, when we arrived later that night all the tables were taken and there were other large groups celebrating their birthdays too . Luckily, they reserved the (isolated) side for us but at the same time we were so separated from the restaurant that we never were checked up on or asked if we needed anything --- this was my issue that night. -I've been to Shakey's with a group of 8-10 and the staff & mgr were all nice and friendly, attentive, and checked up on us. This time we had a group of 20 and had ordered party package 1 and 2, drinks, and paid over $200 and I felt we had shitty service. Yes they brought out our food and plates but that was it and I expected more, I expected at least to have one staff member or even the mgr asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything else - it's happened before with a smaller group I was with. Maybe I expected too much, but I's just comparing it to my other experiences here a few months before. Some of my other issues were: -they never picked up the dirty dishes, trays, etc and we were there for 2hrs+ -I had to ask for to go containers to put the left overs in (my other experience the staff offered while they picked up) -yes we had the whole side area to ourselves but then again we were never checked on so it was as if we were on our own Now if the staff did not attend to us like how we expected because they were afraid we do not tip, they made a big mistake - our friends, my husband, and I are pretty good tippers and we have no problem leaving 18-20% Will I go back for bunch a lunch or pizza & mojos - yes Will I go back and take a big group - no, I rather give that money to the other Shakey's in Paramount, HP, East L.A., or Whittier read more

I'm not from the area so when me and a group of friends were deciding what to eat, we decided on something familiar. this location is a bit smaller than the one I grew up with, but everything about it was great. it was easy to find, the parking lot up front was full but there was plenty of parking in the back, and even though it was pretty busy from what appeared to be a fundraiser, we found seating immediately. someone helped us as soon as we walked up to the counter, and our order of pizza/mojos/and chicken was out in less than 15 minutes. the pizza was hot, crispy, and had the perfect amount of toppings. my favorite was always the chicken, and it definitely lived up to my memory as a kid- crispy salty skin, and juicy inside. didn't even need a dipping sauce or side, but definitely a few napkins. there were some cups on the table we chose to sit at (there were other clean tables, we just preferred the booth...cushiony seats), but a waitress came to pick them up and wipe our table down as soon as we sat down. after we got our food, 2 different people came to ask if we were okay, both were very friendly and in general the staff was attentive without being pushy. even though it can get a little wild and loud because of the kids running around, the restaraunt was surprisingly clean, even the bathrooms. overall we were very satisfied :) read more

They were really rude i mean you get to the front of the line and the cashier guy Alfonso lets you know we are not serving Large pizzas but the family meals only comes with Large than i nicely ask the cashier guy Alonso okay well thats fine i mean if i can do medium-pizzas for the order i want and maybe the price goes down alittle we can make it work but he tells me no we cant do that but hold up you cant serve me any Large pizza and thats all the menu has but your only serving medium i was kinda lost so than im like ummm so now what ? Had a slight hiccup with our dine in order. It was accidentally filled as a take out order... we waited 50 mins wondering where our food was. I finally went up to the cash register to figure out what was going on. I was pretty ticked off when I found out our pizza had been sitting in the warmer for half an hour. By the time I sat back down at my table the manager Evelio was already on his way to apologize. He offered us extra drinks, salad plates and even remade our pizza and gave us the original one to take home. He was so nice and he went above and beyond in accommodating us.
