Pizza Hut buffet vs Shakey's Buffet: Ladies & gentlemen...In this corner, we have a restaurant that charges around $10 for it's buffet consisting of thin crust and regular pizza of all kinds of different flavors, vegetables, salads, etc; but what contrasts this place from Pizza Hut's buffet is the fact that they have really really great potato wedges, spaghetti and some of the best damn seasoned chicken I've ever tasted that gives Hometown Buffet a run for it's money! I bring & review to you....a restaurant that's been in the food game for around 100 years....a place that has such a variety of food that attracts a variety of customers of all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds....a franchise that hits the hungry spots of every person who do and do not smoke medical weed... I'm Yelping about non-other than: SHAKEY's Sorry, I LOVE this place...so glad there's one in Carson because I should mention...it definitely is up there as one of the greatest affordable buffets that gives you more bang for your buck than a prostitute during a recession! The workers are great...if you're latino, they have workers who speak spanish to you...they have a kick-ass manager named Deon that seems so balanced during the hoards of hungry lunch zombies that infect this particular Shakey's during lunch time and graduation and sports celebration parties here! Seriously, I give him props because one time, he kept his smile during this one time when this lady was pissed that another lady in front of her filled up 2 of her plates with ALL of the remaining pizzas!!!!! Can you believe that!? everyone was pissed.....but the manager Deon smiled, apologized (even though it wasn't his fault) and told us to not worry...the guy comes to me and the lady's tables and brings some fresh pizza right out of the oven! Now THAT's CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Other great things about this place is that there are high def tv's EVERYWHERE and if you want beer, there's a button on the table booth that you can press and all of a sudden a worker will come by to bring you beer if you'd like! Oh yeah, and I'm not a big fan of thin crust pizza, but damn... Shakey's thin crust pizza has got to be some of the best I've ever tasted, so if you're trying to lose a little weight, this is a great pizza place for you to go! If you have kids or if you wanna be a kid again, there are some decent arcade games like Jurassic Park and other games for people to play. The parking isn't bad, except for during lunch time, which is pretty normal. If you wanna get your "I'm full as hell and now I need some smokes to help get rid of this ITIS!" on, there's a really really cool smoke shop next to this particular Shakey's as well as a juice shop, a book store and a supermarket....plus it's right next to the South Bay Pavilion and the Home Depot Center!!! Yay this is one of my favorite places to go. My family decided to go on a sunday (big mistake) haha it was packed and my dad is handicapped and there was 5 of us so finding a table was super hard. But the staff really worked hard to find us a table and for a self seating resturant.... that's was really going all out to make sure we were comfortable. The food was great so we quickly forgot about the quest we had just gone through to find a table. There's something about those mojos. It's the main reason we go. They are so addicting... If you haven't been to a shakey's before (yeah right!) it's basically a mixture of chuck e cheese and an old fashion pizza parlor. I mean, it has all the games for the kids but it's not ... intense like chuck e cheese.... you know? It's more comfortable because it's not a resturant dedicated to kids. The food is WAY better than chuck e cheese anyday. Cheaper too! Also you can get more than just pizza here like i mentioned MOJOS and chicken. I'm sure there's more. Also on the tv there's sports and they serve beer. They have family specials with the pizza, chicken, and mojos starting from real cheap like 20-30 bucks for the WHOLE thing. It's enough too because we had left over food and there was 5 of us. It will be the get together place for everything. It's a good place for family and the kids will love it. I love coming to this shakey's to dine in and take out. The staff is always friendly and the place is always clean its a fun atmosphere. Everyone knows their Mojos are the best, so i advice you take the survey at the end of your recipt for free mojos you can order them right away. You can also call in your order. The menu now has changed where you could buy everything separately there's not a specific combo or meal and you create it. You get to build your own PCM- pizza,chicken, and mojos. They have fried chicken, wings, and boneless chicken strips, garlic bread, pepperoni pizza twists, and salad bar so theres something for everyone. They have recently add a variety of desserts.As for drinks they have beer, milk, soft drinks of courses and all natural smoothies. They no longer give you the clear plastic cups, they now give yiu disposable paper cups with lids so you can take it home. I think this is a really cool idea. *bunch of lunch M-F $8.99 S&S $9.49 For those of you who dont know bunch of lunch is their freestyle buffet with unlimited pizza, fried chicken, salad, mojos, pastas, and deserts. Came in during the week last week and was greeted warmly by the cashier that was actually cleaning some tables as well. Once we were ready to order we got a meal (pizza, chicken and mojos) plus for $5 additional dollars you get another pizza for there or take home. We decided to take the second pizza home after we eat. Well eventually we got our first pizza and mojos plus chicken strips. The sauce has gone down hill a bit, but it tasted fine. Prices have gone up, you get a better tasting pizza at The Hut that serves pizza.... Chicken strips were ok, mojos were ok as well, not sure why they are everyone's favorite. While eating a young female asked if we wanted the second pizza, we said sure, can you start cooking it in about 20 mins so we can have it ready to go once we are done, she said sure. Upon walking to the cashier, I was already being told good night when I reminded the female cashier about our second pizza, well they looked and looked, I was not upset, these things happen, so i asked to get a credit receipt, they offered to give me a refund but I felt I would return soon, since my girl doesn't live to far away. This place deserves NO STARTS! I have given this Shakey's location to many chances and they keep failing, and this time they have definitely done it and I WILL NEVER COME BACK. First, pizza is not even tasty as it should be, second the workers are unprofessional with customers, and finally I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE THE BALLS TO SEND AN ORDER INCOMPLETE! I order a medium pizza, and full order of mojos and pizza looks like they added slices from their buffet left overs. WTF! They need to get on it, so ridiculous. Their pizza, fried chicken, and mojos are what people come here for. Even if you just order the mojos (which are these potato slices), it would still be one of the best things you could order on their menu. But take the food out of the picture, it's not the most amazing place to eat with your friends. This place usually gets busy around dinner time and that's when the place gets really crowded. I personally don't like the place because it has this old wooden odor and the lighting is nearly dimmed down. It has a mini-arcade so on a busy hour, expect lots of screaming children running around. It can get pretty loud in there, so loud that you might have to yell to talk to the person across from you. The staff, however, were awesome. They were really helpful and friendly. They were always going around, making sure that everything was OK, and trying to maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant to the best of their abilities. Food = 2 thumbs up! I love coming for the buffet, good food for a reasonable price. On sunday I came for an early dinner, with a few friends from the neighborhood, since we where craving pizza and chicken. I had mentioned Shakey's a few times but they were skeptical about trying it. We placed our order. The cashier asked if we wanted to add a salad bar, we purchased one. About 30 minutes later when the food arrived, I went to get my salad plate ... there is no salad. Im not talking about lettuce, I mean the island was empty. Only ice!
