Shake Shack is my favorite guilty pleasure and I'd always wished Pittsburgh had one. Finally, in 2024 they opened in the Strip at The Terminal. They opened up in May, a month before I relocated to Austin. You know I went before leaving. Four times in fact. Since then when I go home to visit, I use it as a meeting place for lunch with friends and family. For me, Shake Shack can do no wrong. This location has always been a good experience for me. I recommend this as opposed to sitting down at a more formal restaurant, which most likely would take longer to get your food, cost more, and may not be as tasty. I've tried all the heavy hitters in the slightly-elevated-burgers tier (the one above McDonaldss and BK). In N Out, Five Guys, and Super Duper. I'd say Super Duper and Shake Shack are the top two. I got the SmokeShack double with bacon, cheese, and cherry peppers. Yummy. The sweetness and smokiness add a bit of depth that In N Out doesn't have. Would repeat. If I was feeling voracious I would've opted for the cheese fries! But decided didn't want to feel too heavy/gassy on the flight :) They even have bottled sparkling water, which I got. The wait wasn't bad, and they have a small, dedicated seating area -- but you could easily take the food anywhere you want. Recommended when dining at the airport. Would repeat. read more

I had to try based on many recommendations. While the burger was satisfying there are too many other local smash burger spots that I'd recommend. Burger was cooked fine but not super crispy on the outside, cheese was melted but not gooey and the bun was fresh but not exceptional. On the plus side, the service was very good with very friendly staff. In addition, it was super easy to order and the food came out real quick. Also this might be the least expensive option. I'm definitely partial to local businesses, so keep that in mind. It's expensive AF, but I finally get the hype. In all its years of existence, I finally tried Shake Shack for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I ate the Double ShackBurger with fries and a Fifty/Fifty to wash it all down. Excellent. The ShackSauce was a perfect complement to the well cooked hamburger patties. The restaurant itself was very clean. The ordering kiosk was easy to use. The employees that were delivering food were all very nice and helpful while also making sure the tables were clean. The food and the price point are just not for me. Both the burger and chicken sandwich were VERY peppery. The buns were so soft that neither sandwich stayed intact. The cheese on the fries reset by the time we got our food so it was very unappetizing to look at and was cold but the blend of American and Cheddar cheese was nice. The Milkshake was very thin and there was something not so yummy about the cookie pieces. I don't know if they were stale or there was another flavor mixed in or what but it was off. The iced tea was great and I liked that water was available with cups near the condiments. The price point and food quality were just not a match for me. read more

I haven't been to a shake shack in awhile and am now currently regretting that fact. I try to avoid eating fast food in favor of healthier options but sometimes you have a craving that just needs to be satisfied. I usually associate shake shack more with the milkshakes but my new go to is gonna be the cheese fries. It has been like over 12 years since I have been to a Shake Shack. When I lived in New York it was definitely my favorite burger chain. I am so happy that they finally came to Pittsburgh. The store is located on Smallman Street in the Strip District. It is in the new strip of brand new stores. The store is not that big and does not have a lot of seating. My wife and I got lucky and found a seat immediately. I had a shack burger and fries and chocolate shake. The staff where very friendly and we where also greeted immediately upon entry. The food was delicious just like I remember. The food is a bit more pricey than let us say Mcdonalds or Wendys, But well worth it. I will definitely be going again and again. Ah-MAZING burgers..... To be fair I had to give the Shake Shake a another chance. My initial visit left me feeling very deterred. My entire burger was left off my order. I was left waiting for my spouse to finish his meal while mine never arrived. Upon speaking to a manager I was given a card to return for a free burger. (I did not want to wait another 30-45 minutes for one to be made. It was a busy weekend so the lines were long!) Returning for the second visit, (with my free burger card; which actually was a card redeemable for chicken which I don't eat! But the same manager was able to override the 2nd mistake) it was earlier in the week. The lines weren't as long and moved relatively quickly. I finally got to enjoy the delicious Shake Stack Burger & fries. There is limited seating inside of the actual establishment however; right outside of the door is additional community seating. Just walking by it looked busy but when we walked in there was barely a line. My friend and I ordered on the kiosk which was really easy. Cheers to the smashburger! I'm personally a big fan of this Shake Shack spot, and being the first location in the greater Pittsburgh area, they had a lot of pressure riding on them to meet expectations. I feel that it's a nice set-up, it's clean and efficient, and it functions as a great place to dine-in or order takeout. I've eaten in once and ordered delivery, and in both iterations, the burger was great and fresh. The milkshakes rock and the fries are good too! I've never tried the chicken sandwich or the other menu items but I want to try them at some point. I first tried Shake Shack in Manhattan and liked it a lot. It was incredibly busy. I have a friend visiting from Manhattan and decided to walk from Allegheny General Hospital to Smallman Street. It was not horribly busy but had customers obviously enjoying their food. I got the shake shack burgers- 1 for me and 2 for my friend. I got 2 others of fries without additions. Ordering was easy on a modular device where I could pay and have it bagged for takeout. I forget to take many pics but will take more next time I go. The terminal Is amazing with many unique places. The burgers were delicious. I got bacon strips with them and thankfully they were cooked perfectly. The fries were also tasty and reheated nicely once home in an air fryer. One of my favorite things about this particular spot is that you place your order on a tablet, which allows you to easily see all the customization options they offer. We got off to shop and get something to eat before the penguins game. First of all I do recommend it for a quick bit to eat. First of all it was ordered touch screen for your food do everything yourself (I wish there was person helping if it was there first time here I found the free cup of water after the fact I was happy I paid for one one of the two reasons for a three star one no wiping tables and no one seems like they want to serve customer just get the food out. Even though the guy was nice and the one woman around was glad to tell her the ketchup is out (when you work in food service pass the information the staff can't read your mind). The restaurant is smaller than New York one and four registers for a chain it should have more and you had to take a number to your table they come to you. The bathrooms were small and fine. The burgers were good and we got bacon and cheese fries and a Parmesan truffle fries the Parmesan fries were Parmesan cheese toppings and no truffle fries it was not good I don't recommend them. The other is ok and I would say if you're craving go for it. The cherry blossom shake was cherry flavor and good the sprinkles meh. Now for those who have been to other shake shacks anything is better than New York (I would never go back). Las Vegas hmm nope it is #1 for going to a good shake shack and I like being served instead of no help and having to figure it out. If you are a follower of the place it is a one and done. Shake Shack has finally arrived in Pittsburgh! I went to check it out yesterday and it did not disappoint. I got there around 5:30 PM and there was a bit of a line to order, but it moved pretty quickly. They have three kiosks where you can order and pay by card. They also have one register kiosk open that you can use to pay with cash. Ordering was very simple. I ordered a Shackburger (and added pickles), cheese fries, and a black and white milkshake. My mom ordered the schroom burger and cheese fries. At that time, everything was being served as takeout (but you could still dine in if you preferred). There was no opening seating so we took our food home to try. The wait for our food was minimal and the staff were very kind and helpful with the customers. I've never had a bad meal at Shake Shack and this was no exception. Everything tasted delicious. I will definitely be back soon! read more

Stopped in for lunch today at the new Shake Shack at the Terminal Building in The Strip. We ordered two burgers, one fry, and a shake. It took about nine minutes from the time we ordered at the kiosk, till we got a text saying the order was ready. Add another minute for the food to be delivered to our table. The staff was very friendly, and the food was good. I had the Avocado Bacon Burger, add onions tomato and lettuce, and my wife had the Shack Burger with a Gluten-Free Bun, add lettuce, tomato and pickle. She thinks that her burger was missing the Shack Sauce, but she still enjoyed it. I first tried Shake Shack in 2014 in NYC, and since then how I longed to have one in Pittsburgh! Who knew 10 years later we'd have one? It is a small location compared to ones I've dined at in Manhattan, Boca Raton, King of Prussia, and Seattle. But they do have seating just outside the restaurant in the terminal hallway. I'm so so hype for a Shake Shack to be in PGH! Love that it's located right in the Strip Terminal! The space is not huge but the Terminal has a bunch of outdoor seating available for people to just grab food and eat outside or in one of the lobbies. The staff is very nice and the food is always stellar! I absolutely love their fries and burgers. They also have delicious milkshakes and lemonades.
