    Double Cheeseburger

I had to try based on many recommendations. While the burger was satisfying there are too many other local smash burger spots that I'd recommend. Burger was cooked fine but not super crispy on the outside, cheese was melted but not gooey and the bun was fresh but not exceptional. On the plus side, the service was very good with very friendly staff. In addition, it was super easy to order and the food came out real quick. Also this might be the least expensive option. I'm definitely partial to local businesses, so keep that in mind. Anyway, this is worth a stop if you're in a rush, but if not there are many other local options that I prefer....and you might to.

Been twice now and both times ordered a shake to go. First time, I ordered at the counter. Second time, I ordered from a kiosk inside near the counter. Ordering was fast, waiting took several minutes. There is seating indoors and out and more outdoor seating near The Terminal not associated with the Shake Shack, which is what I opted for the second time. The shake was very good and I'd order again.

It's expensive AF, but I finally get the hype. In all its years of existence, I finally tried Shake Shack for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I ate the Double ShackBurger with fries and a Fifty/Fifty to wash it all down. Excellent. The ShackSauce was a perfect complement to the well cooked hamburger patties. Other orders: French Onion Soup Burger - 3/5 (soup flavor tasted generic) SmokeShack - 4/5 (bacon was great) Grilled Cheese - 5/5 (it wasn't oily, it was crisp and dry) Onion Rings - 5/5 (some of the best onion rings ever, full crisp) Fries - 5/5 (solid flavor, great crisp) The seating in the adjacent hallway was preferable, because it was much quieter than inside the restaurant. Lastly, the server and staff were friendly and courteous. Would highly recommend.

When shake shack first opened here, the line was so long that Pittsburgh got made fun of on a national scale. They still deserve that amount of hype. This is a grade A shake shack. They also have my dog this ice cream.

The restaurant itself was very clean. The ordering kiosk was easy to use. The employees that were delivering food were all very nice and helpful while also making sure the tables were clean. The food and the price point are just not for me. Both the burger and chicken sandwich were VERY peppery. The buns were so soft that neither sandwich stayed intact. The cheese on the fries reset by the time we got our food so it was very unappetizing to look at and was cold but the blend of American and Cheddar cheese was nice. The Milkshake was very thin and there was something not so yummy about the cookie pieces. I don't know if they were stale or there was another flavor mixed in or what but it was off. The iced tea was great and I liked that water was available with cups near the condiments. The price point and food quality were just not a match for me.

I haven't been to a shake shack in awhile and am now currently regretting that fact. I try to avoid eating fast food in favor of healthier options but sometimes you have a craving that just needs to be satisfied. I usually associate shake shack more with the milkshakes but my new go to is gonna be the cheese fries. I got them spicy and was a little disappointed cause I didn't really taste the seasoning at all but the cheese was perfect.

You really can't go wrong with a shake shack meal. Easy ordering, wait usually isn't that bad, and perfect burgers every time!

I really enjoy the food at Shake Shack! I always get the Shack burger but recently I tried the chicken stack for the first time and I think it's my new favorite! The cheese fries are always great. It's definitely on the pricier side for a fast casual burger spot but it's not somewhere I get the chance to go to all of the time so it's worth it to me. The service at this location is a little iffy. I've had great service but I've also had not so great service. It wouldn't stop me from going.

The food was great. I love anything truffle and loved their truffle burger. The patty is nice and thin. Our toddler loved the nuggets and we all were fans of the fries. We ordered take out and ate in the terminal, there was plenty of seats and games. The service was great, the order came to the window fast and staff checked in on us even though we were outside the restaurant.

It has been like over 12 years since I have been to a Shake Shack. When I lived in New York it was definitely my favorite burger chain. I am so happy that they finally came to Pittsburgh. The store is located on Smallman Street in the Strip District. It is in the new strip of brand new stores. The store is not that big and does not have a lot of seating. My wife and I got lucky and found a seat immediately. I had a shack burger and fries and chocolate shake. The staff where very friendly and we where also greeted immediately upon entry. The food was delicious just like I remember. The food is a bit more pricey than let us say Mcdonalds or Wendys, But well worth it. I will definitely be going again and again. If you are by the Strip District and your hungry do stop in you won't be dosapointed.

Ah-MAZING burgers..... To be fair I had to give the Shake Shake a another chance. My initial visit left me feeling very deterred. My entire burger was left off my order. I was left waiting for my spouse to finish his meal while mine never arrived. Upon speaking to a manager I was given a card to return for a free burger. (I did not want to wait another 30-45 minutes for one to be made. It was a busy weekend so the lines were long!) Returning for the second visit, (with my free burger card; which actually was a card redeemable for chicken which I don't eat! But the same manager was able to override the 2nd mistake) it was earlier in the week. The lines weren't as long and moved relatively quickly. I finally got to enjoy the delicious Shake Stack Burger & fries. There is limited seating inside of the actual establishment however; right outside of the door is additional community seating. The vibe is very family friendly. Overall, the food is excellent, the attention to detail on the other hand could use some TLC.

Just walking by it looked busy but when we walked in there was barely a line. My friend and I ordered on the kiosk which was really easy. I ordered the shake shack burger, fries and cookies n cream shake. Our food came out to us in like 10 mins. We were able to snag a seat inside. Our food came out great. Absolutely loved the crispiness of their fries and the perfectly blended milkshake. I am such a fan of thin burgers and this was one of the best I had.

Cheers to the smashburger! I'm personally a big fan of this Shake Shack spot, and being the first location in the greater Pittsburgh area, they had a lot of pressure riding on them to meet expectations. I feel that it's a nice set-up, it's clean and efficient, and it functions as a great place to dine-in or order takeout. I've eaten in once and ordered delivery, and in both iterations, the burger was great and fresh. The milkshakes rock and the fries are good too! I've never tried the chicken sandwich or the other menu items but I want to try them at some point. I'm glad that this chain is in Pittsburgh now, and though I do try to support local business as much as possible, I can't deny the appeal of Shake Shack when you're craving a good fast food meal. I'm hungry just thinking about it!

If you do, this place is for you…read more This place was started by Joe Primanti in 1933 to feed shift workers from the local warehouses (coal and iron) and railroads. They are known for big sandwiches which now includes fries and cole slaw. The sandwiches provided value to workers...who were looking for a place to feed themselves to keep their energy up for a long shift. When you sit at the bar and you can only imagine the workers that sat here to feed themselves with what little they had. They found a sandwich between two pieces of soft Italian bread with a good balance of meat, cheese, cole slaw and fries...think energy and value. The history here is real and intense. Would I rate this as a culinary destination? Not particularly but I would say it's a must see to be part of US history as the town righted itself and came to life. The sandwich? I had the pastrami with cole slaw, egg, fries and tomato on Italian bread. Remarkably, the sandwich was light...despite it sounding heavy. The cabbage and tomatoes bring a great balance to the sandwich which makes it messy and remarkably light. Be prepared to get messy..so eat fast! I am probably talking too much about the sandwich...just go try it. The food is probably a 3.5 but it gets the extra .5 for the amazing history there. The service was great...well educated on the product, accommodating in every way. If you are in Pittsburgh, this is a must try.

I had to go across the street to use the restroom because theirs were nasty. It required going down a steep set of stairs, and the women's bathroom floor was wet. There was also a bucket catching brown water dripping from somewhere, which was pretty concerning. The wings and onion rings were just average and didn't really stand out. There are newer locations of this restaurant that I'd recommend instead. Based on my experience, you'll likely have a much better overall visit at one of those locations

Normally I travel with his dad so this trip was a little different. Jackson has heard plenty of stories about all the places his father and I have eaten over the years, so this time I handed him the responsibility of picking our first restaurant. Working downtown, we needed something close by and landed at RedBeard's Sports Bar & Grill. The short walk through downtown Pittsburgh was interesting, but the weather was another story. Hot, humid, and muggy. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was busy and only outdoor seating was available. We took a table outside but asked if we could move indoors when something opened up. Our server, Lauren, was fantastic from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and she made sure we were well taken care of. I let Jackson choose the appetizer and he knocked it out of the park with the mozzarella sticks. Crispy on the outside, loaded with gooey melted cheese on the inside, and paired with a very good marinara sauce. Definitely a strong start to the meal. Jackson and I quickly came to the same conclusion: air conditioning exists for a reason. Patio dining has its place, but a hot and humid Pittsburgh afternoon isn't it. Thankfully, we were able to move inside once a table became available. For my meal, I ordered the Reuben, one of my go-to sandwiches whenever I see it on a menu. RedBeard's version didn't disappoint. Plenty of corned beef, good flavor throughout, and everything worked well together. I requested my fries well-done with no seasoning, and they came out exactly the way I like them. Jackson went with the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese and was thrilled with his choice. Judging by how quickly it disappeared, I'd say it was a winner. I don't know when I'll find myself back in Pittsburgh, but I enjoyed both the restaurant and the downtown atmosphere. Good food, excellent service from Lauren, and a solid first dining experience in the city. 4 stars from me. I'd happily stop back in the next time work brings me to Pittsburgh.

In fact, on its own it doesn't have much flavor (mostly just pepper) but it somehow pairs well with the sandwich. The downside to this location is that they aren't exactly the best at table turnover/cleaning tables and the restaurant itself doesn't feel spotless (like some other locations do).
