We ended up here at the recommendation of a colleague who had been there the night before. We sat upstairs and our server was very attentive. We shared an order of chips and elote queso. AT first I was unimpressed with the amount of elote, but then I realized it was hiding under the delicious queso. I would have liked to try the other queso options as well (they have one described as "dirty' with their home hot sauce in there too- I bet its terrific. I had a butter shrimp taco, which comes with a crispy taco shell inside a soft taco shell. It was very tasty but I think I might have preferred a single kind of shell. They have a build-your own option for things as well which worked out well for a companion who has a lot of dietary restrictions. This location of Condado is always consistent. Because it is near the convention center, it can get busy if there is a convention in town. I always recommend starting with one of the dips--a small size is perfect for sharing with two people. The queso is great! As for tacos, the have an extensive menu of pre-built tacos or you can build your own. Be sure to pay attention to which tacos are marked as "spicy." Delicious Mexican fare close to tourist attractions. We popped in after exploring Senator John Heinz History Center. We were seated right away in the upstairs section and when we arrived, we were the only party up there. It was nice having the whole second floor to ourselves for a bit. We also ordered chips and salsa, and the salsa was so bland that we asked to swap it for guac and hot sauce. The guac wasn't much better, and we used the extra salt from a margarita mug to season it. The hot sauce request went unanswered, but we didn't make a fuss because the place was packed and our server was busy. First sign should have been that I sat and no bartender was present at the bar and I sat there for 5 minutes before she showed up. Other people working there were just standing around. The server for the high tops and our bartender were great. Our bartender was super funny and made us all feel at home. They were so quick getting us drinks of all types. They had an enormous collection of tequila. The bartender made some of the best margaritas I have had. The sour mix is made on the premises, and they use high-quality ingredients. The burrito was so-so all the components were there but not mixed together. So a bite would have a ton of bacon or tons of cheeses. Also I think the bacon was really salty. We had a good time overall--food was great and the bartenders were excellent--but unfortunately, our experience with our server, John J., really detracted from the evening. From the start, he seemed more focused on who was sitting at his table than on providing good service. We had a group split between the dining area and the bar, including someone in a wheelchair who couldn't easily sit at the bar. Instead of being understanding, John made a big deal about who was ordering what and where people were sitting, which made things unnecessarily awkward and uncomfortable.
