I don't know why the reviews aren't higher for this place. It was my first time. Ordered the smash burger. 2 patties. It was cooked medium rare. Crispy on the outside and pink on the inside. The cheese was oozing out of my burger. The to go bag was well made also. Nice and structured at the bottom. I got the spicy fries, and the regular fries. To be honest, the burger is really good, it's just that it's $10!! lol that's pretty steep for a burger. It's def not a gourmet burger but it's def better than a regular fast food burger place. What's interesting is the bun. It's not like two separate buns. Imagine a single bun that they slice into two, then put the patty and cheese and tomatoes in. So imagine like a Hawaiian roll / bun, but bigger. Overall, super good experience. But price is steep. I ordered 3 burgers total and 4 French fries. My daughter realllly wanted to have dinner at Shake Shack so we stopped by to grab food before heading home after a long day at the Spectrum. There's self order kiosks which made it super convenient for us to place our order, pay with a cc, grab a number, and find a seat where they would bring the food out to your table. There's both indoor and outdoor seating available but it really was difficult to find a CLEAN place to sit because there were either food crumbs all over the table or sauce on the seats. For 2 single patty burgers, 2 mac & cheese, 2 fries, 2 drinks and 1 milk shake, the total came out to about $80. It was an okay experience but my kids were happy. read more

Will never get tired of Shake Shack!! This location is always popping, but they do a great job about getting the food out quickly while also making everything to order. The food is fresh, the ingredients are great quality, and the service is always friendly. There's plenty of seating inside and outside with kiosks at the front so you can place your order as well to speed things up. I love that they are always adding seasonal items to the menu to help spice things up; you never know what they'll be serving when you walk in. My go-to is the Smoke Shack with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Probably one of my favorite burgers of all time!! Their fries are pretty good and their shakes (as the name suggests) are well renowned and to DIE for!! Now be careful because you order a burger, fries, and a shake and you'll be in a severe coma as your body digests a week's worth of calories in one sitting. Really the only downside to this place is that it's pricy. Other than that, I have truly nothing but high praise for Shake Shack and the consistent standard they set across every location I've been to. I keep trying to give shake shack a second chance but I walk away disappointed every time. This shake shack is particularly busy and their kitchen just can't handle the amount of orders. It would be better if they just had normal order taking to queue up the kitchen. But they instead install self service kiosks to flood and overwhelm their tiny kitchen. We ordered a double cheeseburger, chicken sandwich , shake and cheese fries. It took 25 minutes for our order to make it to our table. Once we get our order we noticed that our double is a single and also had carrots and green things in the patty. Cheese fries the cheese was cold and like a piece of thick goo. Disgusting. So my son takes it inside. Lady asks us if we picked up the correct order. Wait a second didn't YOU drop it off to us. Anyways they say they will make a new one. After another 15 minutes I get fed up and go inside. Said they are still working on it. Of course I'm annoyed at this point. I start asking more questions if they even know what I ordered. Finally convinced my coworkers to try Shake Shack, and they were bit disappointed! The restaurant is clean and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating. There are plenty of ordering kiosks or you can order up front. The service was fast and friendly and our food came out quickly. I ordered the cheeseburger, cheese fries, and strawberry shake - wow! One of my favorite burger spots and first time at this location. Had some challenges ordering from the kiosk and went to the counter, Stacey was super helpful! It turned out I still needed to use the kiosk but she walked me thru the process to use a special code I had. Shoutout to Stacey for making our lunch experience a good one I had the seasonal bbq burger with single beef patty, daughter had the shack burger single patty, 50/50 unsweetened iced tea lemonade and a mango lemonade, 6 piece chicken bites. You order your own food at a kiosk, where there is no line and it's basically a free-for-all. Then you get a table number where you get a text your order is ready except trying to get to your order is virtually impossible.. they really need to manage the inside of this place better. My go-to has been the OG ShackBurger with raw, sliced onions. There is just something about their toasted potato bun that hit this Cali girl differently than In-n-Out. It's sooo yums. I love their fresh, made-to-order 100% Angus beef ~ quarter pound patty and that melted American cheese over fresh lettuce & tomato. Mmm..my mouth is legit watering as I write this review. While I ALWAYS order a side of fries with my burger, depending on my mood and hunger level, I sometimes feel fancy and get cheese fries to round out my meal. I just love those crispy crinkle cut fries that have that satisfying soft center. To truly complete my meal, I love their refreshing strawberry lemonade on a hot day. You can really taste the real strawberry puree, perfectly marrying their house-made lemonade. It quenches my thirst every time. While yes, your Shack Shake meal will NEVER compare to your In-n-Out combo prices, however, it's still worth it now and then ~ esp. when I have that fast-food craving, but still want fresh quality ingredients. Truth be told, I would only visit this first Shake Shack location in OC if I was hanging out & strolling around the Spectrum, cuz let's be real..ain't nobody wants to deal with the Spectrum parking madness. For what it's worth, I think this Shake Shack is better than the one in Long Beach, which I previously rated 3 stars, but my overall experience was still lacking that I can't quite give this location a 4th star. I was planning to watch a movie at Regal Irvine Spectrum, which is conveniently next to Shake Shack. I received an email a few days prior that gave me a promo code for a free Avocado Bacon Burger with a $10+ purchase. The morning of the day I was planning my afternoon getaway to Irvine, I got another email from Shake Shack with the same deal, but a different promo code! This promo code expired earlier and was pretty generic that I'm certain it could be used a multitude of times, even by the same customer. I hadn't been to Irvine Spectrum before, and when I parked my car in a parking garage next to Target, I realized that Shake Shack was on the opposite side of the shopping center! Not wanting to go through the trouble of finding parking again, I decided to make the ~10 minute walk across Irvine Spectrum. There are a few places that show directions to various businesses, Shake Shack being one of them, so it wasn't too difficult to find Shake Shack. I'm sure if I had made a wrong turn, a sign would have directed me to Shake Shack, or at least the nearby Regal. Upon entering, I saw a few kiosks to the left and a pickup counter in front of me. I initially discerned that we could only order via the kiosk, and so that's what I did. With the kiosk, you can customize burgers to your liking, like adding certain toppings or utilizing a different bun. Of course, if I was getting the Avocado Bacon Burger for free with $10+ purchase, I had to add the Avocado Bacon Burger to my order. I requested pickles, lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, and a side of ShackSauce, all at no additional charge. There was also an option for "Well Done", and I checked that even though I generally prefer "Medium Well" instead. For the $10+ purchase, it took me a while to decide, but I settled for the Shroom Burger, which uses a fried portobello mushroom as the patty, and the mushroom contains cheese. The base price is $9.99, so I had to add an upgrade, cherry peppers for 49 cents in this case, to make $10. I didn't remember seeing options for lettuce or tomato on the Shroom burger, but I made sure to add the other complimentary toppings. I had an e-gift card to use, but I couldn't find a way to use it. I was then trying to use a card that didn't have a chip, but I couldn't find a way to swipe it in the card reader, which I discerned could only take chip cards. So then I had to use a chip card to pay. After placing my order, I noticed a line by the pickup counter with an employee taking orders, flustering me a little because if I had known I could place my order there, I would have tried. But then again, I'm not sure they would have told me about the complimentary toppings that I had requested on the kiosk. I was anxiously waiting for my order while trying to find an unoccupied table, either inside or in one of their two outdoor patios. It still wasn't enough to accommodate all the customers dining on this early Sunday afternoon! Actually, I did see a table open up, and I really wanted to tell them to hurry up with my order so I could eat there. Unfortunately, other customers who got their order(s) first claimed that table. Ugh! Once I got my order after about 14 minutes of waiting, I took my takeout bag outside, but couldn't find any empty tables, except for a couple just outside the front door, but with no chairs. I legitimately would have considered taking one of those tables and just standing to eat, potentially becoming an eyesore to passersby, but I luckily saw an open table in the shaded outdoor patio! Actually, there were three open tables right next to one another that when I sat down first, another customer asked me if he and his friends could sit at the tables next to me. And then moments later, a kid asked me if he could take the chair directly across from me. I wasn't using it, but I hope he returned that promptly. It would have helped significantly if Irvine Spectrum Center had generic tables and chairs for patrons of any eatery there. Luckily, the burgers themselves tasted good, though I would not say $20+ good since the normal price of both would have been well over $20 with tax. The ShackSauce was so thick that I couldn't pour them out of the cups. I wanted to keep my hands clean, but it would have been hard to if I'm dipping the burgers into the sauce cups. Also, each of the two burgers had a piece of onion dangling outside the box, one even touching the table when I set the box down! It was hard to keep the burgers in one piece, but I did like the overall flavor of both burgers, especially in conjunction with the ShackSauce. Third time was not the charm. The tablets seemed to be having issues, so while everyone was giving up and getting in line at the counter, I placed an online order for a couple of drinks. Walked around and went back to the counter at the time my order was supposed to be ready. I could see a drink order that looked like mine in a drink carrier on the rack. Gave my name to the woman at the counter who looked at the carrier on the rack and then told me that my order wasn't ready. I hadn't received a text, so I waited five more minutes, which was at the end of the window that my order was supposed to be ready. Checking online, I could see that my order was completed. Once again, I gave my name to the same woman. She checked with the people fulfilling orders, who said they didn't have it and then looked at that carrier on the rack again. She told me my order wasn't ready. My husband asked, "Are you SURE that's not our order?" She looked again. It WAS our order the whole time. "Wait. I'll get you a replacement, she responded. I thought she was going to replace the drinks because they had gotten watered down by the melting ice but instead she got a new drink carrier because the other one had gotten soggy. She didn't even apologize. I HATE giving bad reviews but this was ridiculous. Having worked at a restaurant, I know customer service is key. Food: The burger looks absolutely nothing like the image from their app. I've been here a few times and the value just isn't there. You're better off going to happy hour at Fogo De Chao a few hundred feet away for a better burger at the same price point. The fries are decent; very hard to get wrong. Service: standard, order through the app or the kiosk and they call you up. The water is self serve and they come find you with your order if you're dining in. Ambiance: this place gets very busy at peak times so it's hard to find a place to sit inside, but there is plenty of outdoor seating.
