First time trying Shake Shack. Last time trying Shake Shack. This burger wasn't just ridiculous looking, it wasn't even tasty IMO. Fries were standard. $31 with a bottle of water? Never again.

The staff here are friendly, helpful and quick to serve. For this, I give this location 1 star. I had a quick 50 minutes layover at this location and I wanted to grab Shake Shack. I first tried Shake Shack when it opened in New York and didn't feel that it was worth the hype, so I decided to give them another chance while on the East Coast. My second visit did not change my first impression. There was a huge line and I barely had a chance to place my order before my flight started boarding. I chose two single Shack burgers and a side of fries. I really wanted to try the Red Eye Shake, but the wait was 30 minutes and it was not worth missing my flight. The area around the ordering register was clean, the staff came out regularly to clean and they all were laughing and clearly enjoyed working together. The food was barely even meh. It looked very pretty; perfectly photogenic, but when I bit into my burger, it was very gritty and grisely. It didn't taste like it was seasoned at all. The tomato and lettuce was very fresh, but the burger was very thin, almost non-existent and it took a lot of chewing to finish every bite. The fries were just ok, lightly salted and warm, but not hot. I spend $25 for my meal and I spent the rest of the flight feeling like I was going to throw up or have a bathroom accident. I was NOT a happy camper. I cannot recommend this location. You are better off with vending machine food. Avoid eating here if you want to have an enjoyable meal.

It was quite busy but my food came out within 2 minutes. First time trying the Bacon & Avocado Chicken Sandwich, it was crispy with yum flavors. I would get it again.

Tolerable and quick service. Clean counters and available condiments. I got the sausage, egg and cheese. Breakfast was cooked hot and fresh; thick pattied sausage and fried egg on a bun. Was really good

If I could, it would be more of a 3.5 star rating overall. The service was average for an airport fast food restaurant. Not bad, but nothing above & beyond as far as customer service. I think it would go a long way if the staff behind the counter could try to smile. But, I can also understand it's a busy airport and Shake Shack is very popular. Maybe they are dealing with a lot of crappy people. The line went by quick. The wait wasn't bad for the number of people that were there before me. They give you the burger and fries in a nice portable box which makes it easy to carry. The shake machine was broken. No problem. I didn't want one anyway. The ShackBurger and crinkle cut fries were super tasty and crispy. The best part of the experience was the meal. As it should be. It was hot & fresh, which is why I rounded up to 4 stars. It's most definitely a good option if you have a layover in Charlotte. This one is located at The Plaza between concourse D & E. A very convenient spot with lots of seating. I'd return for that burger and fries.

If you've enjoyed Shake Shack in other locations, you know what to expect. That being said, employees are beaten down by a relentless onslaught of CLT patrons. I honestly don't think I've ever walked by this location without seeing a full line through the rope barriers. As with any known chain or branch restaurant located in an airport, be mindful that your expectations may not live up to your memories. That being said, the quality of the food has been solid when I visit, which makes Shake Shack a contender for my dollar if I need a quick bite at Charlotte International.

Anytime in the Charlotte airport, I'm always looking for something yummy and quick to hold me over before my flight. I recently stopped by shake shack in the food court and the line should have told me it was a great choice. They move through people quickly so it's great if you're in a rush. I got the bacon cheeseburger and fries and both were fresh and hot. Overall the burger was good and flavorful but slightly greasy. Overall not a bad spot for the airport!

I'ma gonna give them a weak 3, but do not misunderstand it's not your normal Shake Shack experience likely with long waits and pricer menu. Counter service friendly enough, wait was long. Burger was a mess, but hot and tasty. Fries hot and crisp. Ketchup packets were sticky and gross. Shake machine broken. It's a stretch. But 2.5 rounding up.

Airport food is always a hit or miss. While not the best burger and fries in town, nor was it the cheapest, it hit the spot for sure. Be prepared to wait a bit even though they get you through the line pretty fast. Food is made to order, so you'll have to be patient. Though you may have to wait, the service was fast, the staff was kind and the area was clean.

When reading over some of the other reviews I was a little shocked how bad some of them were. But when thinking about my experience I didn't have any issues. Being from Jacksonville we don't have a Shake Shack and I'm a huge fan of a good smash burger so I always stop by when I'm at the Charlotte Airport. As soon as I got off my flight I went to Shake Shack. The line moved pretty fast. I ordered and within getting in line and receiving my food I probably waited 10 minutes so not long at all. Obviously this is a airport restaurant so it's going to be overpriced but again that's to be expected. If you don't want to pay for overpriced airport food bring a granola bar with you. I ordered the Double Smokeshack and an order of the cheese fries. I all comes in a nice box/bag so you can easily bring the food with you. The Smokeshack is so good. Great smashed double patties with cheese cherry peppers for a little sweet heat and lots of bacon. Seriously there was a lot more bacon then I expected. The fries are crinkle cut which I normally find just OK but they were crispier then others I have which I liked. I am also a big fan of cheese sauce. I will say it was a very salty lunch more nothing a little ketchup with the fries and cheese sauce couldn't fix. I will probably keep coming back since I have never had any issues here and I can't get it where I live.

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

Think that perfect meat-cheese-bread ratio you get at an In-N-Out: not too big, not too messy, not dripping everywhere, but still juicy and satisfying. A burger you can actually pick up and enjoy without resorting to a knife and fork like George Costanza. That's why I appreciate Ace No. 3. Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.
