I was super excited to see shake shack here because I recently had one in NYC and it was sooooo good !! Fast forward to my current situation.. I'm in the bathroom stomach cramping and feeling like I'm going to fall out from pain ... That burger was not cooked fully in some places ! Friendly guy at the counter , but they definitely needed to smash and cook that burger some more because I am not ok !!

Of all the Shake Shacks I've been to, my experience here has been the quickest and met with the best professionalism. The food is about the same taste and quality as any other franchise. What made my experience here was how efficient the staff was at expediting orders despite the wait and the courtesy of the employees who brought your food to you. I was in and out within 10 minutes after ordering on the kiosk. A gentleman brought my to go order and he was extremely professional and kind; was quite surprised. People like that leave a positive impression for repeat customers and if I'm back in Charlotte, I'm certainly coming here for my meals. Overall, good food, but amazing customer service! 4/5 stars!

My first time at this location was on Tuesday, 03-12-24. I received an email about the promo for a free SmokeShack with a $10 purchase. I ordered the SmokeShack, kimchi fries, root beer, & yuzu lemonade. I liked the kimchi seasoning on the fries; the sauce, not so much. The SmokeShack had an unexpected kick of spice/heat which I liked. The service at this location was much better than Woodlawn; the employees seemed more organized. There was a good, chill vibe while I waited for my order which didn't take long. I was able to watch a little basketball. They're a little pricey for burgers & fries to me, but I'd definitely return to this location for a splurge.

This place was great. I've never been to this location before and it wasn't too busy when we came. The food came out fast and it was still hot. I ate the bacon cheeseburger and it was really good. The burger was cooked to perfection and the bacon was cooked good too. The fries needed a little salt. The atmosphere in here is great and it's very clean. I love the hanging lights and the little wall lights at each booth. The music is good too.

Very over prices.. about $50 for two adults and one child Burger was decent, wasn't cooked all the way. Prices vary to add toppings, sauce, and drink Was clean inside and service was polite and fast

I agree with my fellow Yelpers - this is really an amazing Shake Shack - Modeled after the original ones in New York. Burger was excellent - absolutely delicious and made to order. I visiting late this afternoon - Tuesday; - 23 January 2024; - Special shout out to the Manager who provided me with tremendously friendly service and kept me abreast of when my order was going to pop out. He even offered me a refill on my Root Beer which was a very kind gesture. Despite - being so busy, and what seems like a location overwhelmed with Uber Eats/Door Dash Orders - Employee Team is extremely efficient and calm and it's really cool to watch everyone deliver things so chill. Restaurant was extremely clean and calm. No "Knuckle Heads" hanging out - causing trouble. - Looking forward to returning and great work by the Manager - Excellent Leadership! - Witnessed him being so kind and motivating to his employees and consider to us customers.

this place was conveniently located and the food was tasty. the reason i did not give it 5 stars was the burger was super small..drinks were 4$ a piece and everything is electronic now, no human interaction except to bring you your food...

Shake shack in South End never disappoints! Family dinner 4/26/21 was cooked to order and delicious! ChicknShack is a great alternative to hamburgers I enjoyed the flavor and crispness!! Cheese fries are good too not the typical velveeta nacho sauce this is actually cheese that is creamy and flavorful! Malted Shakes this time I got the black and white it was Good!! We will be back for another great fast meal! I highly recommend!

Love the burger but the fries are just okay. Good quality but a bit pricey for a basic burger. Will say the location is great and I love this area.

I haven't ventured out to eat in awhile now but yesterday my son wanted to celebrate his football game victory so we decided on Shake Shack . I've heard so much about this spot so my excitement slowly diminished with each bite. Nothing had flavor , and if you enjoy that truffle sauce I apologize for my review but it was not good one bit. Order: Kids cheeseburger with fries Shake chicken sandwich with Parmesan fries Avocado chicken sandwich with parm fries . White Zombie beer Pros: Sandwiches were a good size Ease of ordering Nice atmosphere in south end location Cons: No flavor , no salt no seasoning, no parm or garlic , just chicken , bread , and toppings on a bun with crinkle fries I could've cooked better in an airfryer at home (with salt and real seasoning) . I just can't validate paying $46 for a meal that had no wow factor . I know some will disagree with my review . Maybe I got a bad batch? Maybe we should've tried the burger, but why offer chicken if you can't do it right? With so many burger spots now , this just will not be somewhere we revisit . 2 stars because the $6 beer was Good . It's not 12oz though .

Shake Shack is already an established institution but it's new to these neck of woods in South End. Being nestled in the womb of South End, Shake Shack is within walking distance to & from the light rail, East/West Station, and to all of the other 'LOCAL BUSINESSES (always support locally b/c you can)'. My reason for even entertaining Shake Shack is because during the time, they were doing a By One Get One (BOGO) special that popped up my email. The timing was correct because I have not had dinner yet so it was a win-win for me. I had the following items (see attached photos for reference): Chick'n Shack (*) Crispy chicken breast over lettuce, pickles, buttermilk herb mayo SmokeShack (**) Cheeseburger with Niman Ranch applewood-smoke The service there was lackluster and that's why they get 3 stars instead of 4 stars. It seemed as if the "working" employees at the time were annoyed at having customers. Oh, how do I know? I just do. Vibes and energy are EVERYTHING! All in all, Shake Shack is a chain and not really that impressive, but it's consistently invariable + the burger & chicken sandwich was rudimentary. Cheers MATE$! ...::: Trey :::...

Love South End. Such a live and trendy area. Lots of restaurants to choose from. This Shake Shack is clean and easy to get to. You order your food from an iPad placed up front, they will text you when the food is ready. Very simple. Service was fast food was good. I love the buns they use for their burgers/sandwiches. The boyfriend got their spicy chicken sandwich (extra hot) it had the perfect spice level. The hottest is "fire", yikes! I ordered the shack stack which is the shack burger and shroom burger together. AMAZING! The mushroom is fried with cheese inside of it. Delicious! Burger was cooked perfectly and their fries were crispy. Love crispy fries. Spent about $25 for the both of us, but it's expected with chains that are more "trendy".

I usually love shake shack but today when I ate my burger I realized there was a bread tie in it?? I'm sure it was a mistake but kind of dangerous

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

Think that perfect meat-cheese-bread ratio you get at an In-N-Out: not too big, not too messy, not dripping everywhere, but still juicy and satisfying. A burger you can actually pick up and enjoy without resorting to a knife and fork like George Costanza. That's why I appreciate Ace No. 3. Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.

Review for Optimist Hall…read more As a foodie who relocated to Charlotte from the San Francisco Bay Area, I naturally compare food halls to the iconic Ferry Building Marketplace. Optimist Hall reminds me of it -- it definitely aspires to that kind of destination experience -- but it's not quite in the same league. That said, it's still one of Charlotte's most vibrant and enjoyable places to gather and eat. This is an upscale food hall with a wide variety of options -- beer, wine, cocktails, global cuisines, retail, and plenty of energy. I've tried many of the stalls, and the diversity is impressive. There's truly something for everyone, which makes it a great place to visit with friends or family. Parking is generally easy, and the space is clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. The bathrooms are well-maintained, which always matters. One challenge is seating -- there never quite seems to be enough, especially during peak times. Like many food halls, there can also be turnover among vendors, which is a bit unfortunate when you find a favorite. The setup here reflects what you often see in the Southeast: surface parking rather than garages or robust public transportation. It works, but it's different from West Coast infrastructure where you might hop on BART or a streetcar and arrive right at the door. Where Optimist Hall really shines is as a social destination. It's perfect for a group outing -- almost like a modern food truck rally. One person claims a table while everyone else explores, then you come back together, share dishes, and break bread. That communal experience is what makes this place special. It's a big wide world out there. Be curious -- and bon appétit.
