It's a busy, walkable section of the neighborhood surrounded by apartment complexes, shops, and plenty of foot traffic. You've got places like Jeni's Ice Cream, coffee spots, and other eateries nearby, so it's definitely a lively area--but not the easiest if you're driving in. I received a special solicitation and promo to use the app for 20% off, which was a nice perk. I do like Shake Shack. It's trendy for the smash burger, and when it's done right, it really is a solid bite with a near-perfect ratio of meat to bun. For this visit, I ordered a double ShackBurger with mayonnaise, lettuce, pickle, and onion, with the sauce requested on the side. Unfortunately, the sauce didn't come on the side as requested. I also ordered a strawberry shake, which was about $5. Here's the honest take: * The burger itself was good, filling, and satisfying * However, the meat was not as crispy as I remembered * The shake was just okay--it lacked strong strawberry flavor and richness * The quality felt a bit diminished after taking the food home That last point matters. Smash burgers really depend on timing. I took the food home, which was about a 10-minute trip, and by then the texture had changed. The nuances that make a smash burger special--crisp edges, heat, balance--just weren't the same anymore. Next time, I'll definitely eat it there on-site. That's where the experience really shines. A few practical notes: * A double burger runs roughly $9-$10, so it's not cheap, but it is filling * Check the app for promos--they can make a noticeable difference * If something tastes off (like the shake), it's best to address it while you're still there Personally, I prefer a burger that isn't too wet, so pickle, lettuce, and onion work well for me. I'm particular about tomatoes--I only like Roma tomatoes, not beefsteak--so I usually skip them altogether. Bottom line: Shake Shack is still a reliable burger, but timing and location matter. Hits every time. Our plan was a different spot with our group of 14 but when they were slow moving we decided to leave them and get something quick. It is so nice having Shake Shack in Charlotte now. The food was for was delicious and tasted exactly how I know it should. Shake Shack had my fav cheese fries and that is coming from a self proclaimed cheese fry connoisseur. This location is very large and you can easily bring your bigger group in. You order at the kiosk so not much interaction with the staff but the young lady who brought our meal was super sweet. read more

Never been to any Shake Shack. My daughter and I were hanging out in South End and it started to pour down raining, we were hungry so we landed here. Glad we did. Great variety of burgers. Rarely is there anything I can eat at a burger joint but there was a veggie burger and a 'shroom' burger on the menu! I went for the mushroom burger which was a fried portabella. Yummy! Nice crunch. My daughter loved the option for Mac n cheese as a side. And it was so creamy with breadcrumbs on top. I got the cucumber basil drink, (which if this isn't your thing now is not the time to be adventurous) I liked it but I don't think most folk would who don't typically drink stuff like that. My daughter had tropical mango and it was tasty. There's parking on the street and a garage nearby. Service was great! I was super excited to see shake shack here because I recently had one in NYC and it was sooooo good !! Fast forward to my current situation.. I'm in the bathroom stomach cramping and feeling like I'm going to fall out from pain ... That burger was not cooked fully in some places ! Of all the Shake Shacks I've been to, my experience here has been the quickest and met with the best professionalism. The food is about the same taste and quality as any other franchise. What made my experience here was how efficient the staff was at expediting orders despite the wait and the courtesy of the employees who brought your food to you. I was in and out within 10 minutes after ordering on the kiosk. A gentleman brought my to go order and he was extremely professional and kind; was quite surprised. People like that leave a positive impression for repeat customers and if I'm back in Charlotte, I'm certainly coming here for my meals. I ordered the SmokeShack, kimchi fries, root beer, & yuzu lemonade. I liked the kimchi seasoning on the fries; the sauce, not so much. The SmokeShack had an unexpected kick of spice/heat which I liked. The service at this location was much better than Woodlawn; the employees seemed more organized. There was a good, chill vibe while I waited for my order which didn't take long. I was able to watch a little basketball. This place was great. I've never been to this location before and it wasn't too busy when we came. The food came out fast and it was still hot. I ate the bacon cheeseburger and it was really good. The burger was cooked to perfection and the bacon was cooked good too. The fries needed a little salt. The atmosphere in here is great and it's very clean. I visiting late this afternoon - Tuesday; - 23 January 2024; - Special shout out to the Manager who provided me with tremendously friendly service and kept me abreast of when my order was going to pop out. He even offered me a refill on my Root Beer which was a very kind gesture. Despite - being so busy, and what seems like a location overwhelmed with Uber Eats/Door Dash Orders - Employee Team is extremely efficient and calm and it's really cool to watch everyone deliver things so chill. It is walking distance from my boyfriend's apartment which is quite dangerous :D The staff seems nice but I have never really interacted with them because they have those self-serve monitors. White Zombie beer Pros: Sandwiches were a good size Ease of ordering Nice atmosphere in south end location Cons: No flavor , no salt no seasoning, no parm or garlic , just chicken , bread , and toppings on a bun with crinkle fries I could've cooked better in an airfryer at home (with salt and real seasoning) . I just can't validate paying $46 for a meal that had no wow factor . I know some will disagree with my review . Maybe I got a bad batch? Maybe we should've tried the burger, but why offer chicken if you can't do it right? This is such a great shake shack! I love that it's in south end since it's one of my favorite areas of CLT. Both times that I've visited, we've only had to wait like 15 ish mins for our food to come out. I usually get a shroom burger (since I'm vegetarian), and my husband always gets the chicken burger. We also get plain fries and shack sauce, honey mustard, and mayo on the side to dip our fries & burgers in. Everything is always fantastic & delicious. Love the extra seating area but hate that it's always so cold in there. Definitely recommend this location! read more

Shake Shack is already an established institution but it's new to these neck of woods in South End. Being nestled in the womb of South End, Shake Shack is within walking distance to & from the light rail, East/West Station, and to all of the other 'LOCAL BUSINESSES (always support locally b/c you can)'. My reason for even entertaining Shake Shack is because during the time, they were doing a By One Get One (BOGO) special that popped up my email. The timing was correct because I have not had dinner yet so it was a win-win for me. I had the following items (see attached photos for reference): Chick'n Shack (*) Crispy chicken breast over lettuce, pickles, buttermilk herb mayo SmokeShack (**) Cheeseburger with Niman Ranch applewood-smoke The service there was lackluster and that's why they get 3 stars instead of 4 stars. I will get kill for this. But honestly I don't know what the hype is about. You can customize your burger but not by much.. I wanted Mayo and grilled onions and couldn't get that. I have to ordered on this the computer. I'm old school. I want to talk to the staffs. And I cant even add or request the extra lettuce or onions. I definitely like the sauce but as far as burgers. I find that Mr. Ks or even Bang Bang Burgers are way better.. My son wanted regular onions on his hotdogs and we couldn't even do that. And it just a typical hotdog. I can easily go to JJ Red Hot and get the way better one. I can't really rate on the customer service because I barely spoke to anyone.. All I can say is I tried it and I'm not a fan. Love South End. Such a live and trendy area. Lots of restaurants to choose from. This Shake Shack is clean and easy to get to. You order your food from an iPad placed up front, they will text you when the food is ready. Very simple. Service was fast food was good. I love the buns they use for their burgers/sandwiches. The boyfriend got their spicy chicken sandwich (extra hot) it had the perfect spice level. The hottest is "fire", yikes! I ordered the shack stack which is the shack burger and shroom burger together. AMAZING! The mushroom is fried with cheese inside of it. Delicious! Burger was cooked perfectly and their fries were crispy. Love crispy fries. Spent about $25 for the both of us, but it's expected with chains that are more "trendy". read more

Some of the best customer service I've witnessed in a long time. We came in on a hot Thursday evening with our two toddlers. The iPad did not send our full order through which resulted in a minor but mutual confusion with the staff. As soon as I brought it up, the staff was more than willing to rush us out two fries. I know staffing is hard to come by these days; so to the manager of this location, be proud of your team. They are stellar, along with the food. read more

After eating here 6 hours later had horrible stomach pains, on the toilet with diarrhea and vomiting.

I'm disappointed in the lack of quality of the chicken nuggets the flour was a thin tasteless coating was terrible and the chicken was under cooked there was only 6 nuggets and awful grease was left at the bottom, all I could taste was the disgustingness of the chicken and thinking these poor creatures died for a terrible cause unlike chic-fil-a with beautiful chicken over the whole menu, I expect more from a multi billion dollar company. read more
