The fries are really good and they are enough for two people to share. They are seasoned and the coated fries that are nice and crunchy. The smashburger I had was good but on the salty side. Whoever prepared it was a little careless and put all the pickles on one side instead of evenly distributing them. The special sauce didn't have much flavor. My burger was also a little dry probably because it sat in the window for over five minutes while they were cooking the fries. A Mixed First Impression I don't usually find myself in the northern part of Charlotte, but I've heard enough good things about Camp North End to make the drive to check it out. On a Monday afternoon, many spots were closed, but Surefire was one of the few open and relatively busy. I went in with an open mind but the à la carte pricing for my drink, burger and fries felt a bit steep for what eventually arrived. The concept of the burger is that it's smashed but I didn't get any crispy edges which were to be the highlight. What I received strongly reminded me of a dollar burger from a McDonald's restaurant. Depressing. It was very salty with a sweet onion jam that provided the only contrast. The basic American cheese didn't add much, and the lack of any fresh toppings - no lettuce, tomato or even a pickle - left the whole thing feeling heavy and one note. The sweet-and-salty profile just didn't cut through the fattiness well enough for me. I've had much better smashed burgers and worst ones too, but this didn't live up to the hype I've heard. The fries on the other hand were solid: hot, crispy, and well-cooked. They were just aggressively seasoned further adding to the overall "salt-bomb" effect of the meal. The real highlight? Service! The staff were genuinely pleasant, friendly, and provided great hospitality! The bathrooms were also impressively clean which always adds a nice touch. Not a ton of seating but on a Monday afternoon where the crowds are low there didn't seem to be a problem. An ok first visit overall. I'd be willing to go back and try the chicken sandwich instead. Different palates will vary of course - some may appreciate the bold seasonings. I was excited to try a burger from Surefire. Came in on Saturday night ordered 2 burgers with the sauce on the side. Apparently, this was too difficult of an order as our burgers were never made. We waited 48 mins only to hear other orders being called ahead of ours. When we checked in on our order, we were assured repeatedly that it was coming right up in 2 mins. Great burgers! I met do friends here for lunch, and the smash-style burgers did not disappoint. I ordered the Ogden burger with a single patty. I was very pleased. Both my burger and fries were made fresh to order. The fries are not my preference, but they were good. This place is set up like a market with beverage coolers and shelves with snacks, other food items, household items and even medicines. This place would be a life saver for people visiting Camp North End or those who live in the nearby apartment community. My only complaint is the lack of seating inside. It's not ideal for groups who wish to sit together. My party was able to snag good seating, buy this might not always be the case. Finally got to come to Surefire's "new" spot here in north Charlotte. I miss having them in Rock Hill as that was my go to place before the fire. I'm happy though to see the success they are having. Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches and smash burgers I have had in a while. We got the Retha Mae chicken sandwich in mild spice and it was perfect. Just enough spice for some heat, but not burn your mouth hot. The chicken was super crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside paired with pickles and surefire sauce was 10/10. The burger was top notch as well. We opted for the classic with 2 patties and came with cheese, pickles and smacked sauce. Full of flavor and just overall one of the best I've had in a while. I cam here with my family yesterday to try this restaurant recommended by my sister in law. It's located in Camp Northend. Parking is free and this restaurant has its own storefront. I did not take many pictures of the inside of the restaurant, but it seems like a restaurant, mini warehouse, convenience store. There were boxes stacked with items. I guess that's the "market" side. I was under the impression that it was a restaurant only. There was limited seating inside as well. I know this place is known for its burgers but for some reason I didn't have a craving for one at the time. I ordered the Retha Mae with the Saide sauce which is a hot sauce of some sort and my husband ordered the classic burger. Now about the Saide sauce, the cashier who assisted us was a young woman, who answered our questions, but seemed detached. She offered the Saide sauce as if it's something that came on the sandwich, then proceeded to charge $1 for the sauce. I believe that should be disclosed if an up-charge will be added. We also ordered fries, mambo sauce, and a grilled cheese for my toddler. We gave our name and waited outside. The order took around 10 mins or so (I went back inside and my name was called shortly after). My in laws were told they would be notified via text but weren't. I started off with the fries, which were nice and hot! I used the mambo sauce to dip my fries into and that was delicious! My chicken sandwich had a large chicken breast which I loved and it was very juicy. There was nice flavor and the spice was satisfying as well (it wasn't a burn your mouth hot). The chicken was between a potato bun (awesome!), pickles, Surefire sauce, everything except the coleslaw. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to that! I honestly didn't feel like going back because it was hot and we had to walk over to another part of Camp Northend for shaded seating. Cute new smash burger place in camp north end. I think they opened recently when we tried them and all the menu items were not available (shakes). They have burgers, chicken sandwiches and kids grilled cheese and fries. The shakes were not available yet but we saw chocolate, cookies and cream and another flavor. We opted for the Tyson Corner, single patty, one with mambo sauce and one without. The burgers were perfectly cooked with crispy edges and flavor. My only suggestion is to toast or steam the buns as they were cold compared to the hot toppings. Definitely coming back to try another burger and chicken sandwich. So glad I came across a post about Surefire this weekend. We got there around 8pm and were greeted immediately . I liked that they have large photos with descriptions of their sandwiches which made ordering easy. Our food was ready quickly (under 10 minutes). Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. I ordered the Honey Butta Chicken Sandwich and I convinced Hubby to order the Double Odgen. The fries were great (crispy and fresh). I ordered Mambo sauce to dip them in. The chicken sandwich was sooo good! I contemplated leaving the coleslaw on but opted out. But they put a tiny portion in a container and I tried it on my last bite and wasn't disappointed. WHEN I order it again I'll get it the way it comes. Hubby was less impressed with the burger. He thought five guys burger had a better char on the patties. We also ordered a plain tender for our toddler. It's a big tender so one was enough; Unfortunately it had some spice so it was more mild than plain. The smack sauce is especially good and ties everything together. I went with mild heat, which had great flavor without being overly spicy. Portions were solid, but it is a bit on the pricier side. My sandwich and cauliflower bites came out to about $21 with tip, so it feels more like an occasional treat than an everyday stop. There's nice seating both indoors and outdoors, but it is a bit limited. Food came out in about 10 minutes, which felt totally reasonable. After not making it by Surefire during my first trip to charlotte, I made it my first stop when I came back. Unfortunately it didn't meet any expectations i had. Actually it was extremely disappointing as a whole. First I'll say the service was almost unwelcoming. Usually the issue is under seasoning but they certainly made sure to Give it their all. Thankfully we split the burger so it was a little easier to force down after a 5 hr drive and being super hungry. Then we moved on to the honey butta. I'm a chicken sandwich monster and can't tell you one time I've not finished A chicken sandwich..... well until today. I expected a sweetness because honey is in the name but this was almost like eating a plate of chicken and waffles drenched in syrup. Extremely sweet and unbearable to take down. I wanted a savory lunch but this was like a dessert chicken sandwich. I took two bites out of my half and tossed the rest. After the extremely salty burger to this extremely sweet chicken it was not manageable. Next the fries. Those were decent. The 2 stars are strictly based off the fries. They could have taken some of the salt from the burger and added it to the fries but over all they were crispy and easily manageable to eat. Other than that the business sells drinks and snacks and the prices just felt like double what they would be anywhere else. Very steep as a whole. Their menu is small and focused providing some classic fast food staple items but with fresh local ingredients and served up by local Charlotte natives. I have yet to make it in to see the place in person, but I have now ordered delivery through Door Dash multiple times, and I have to say these are some of the best smash burgers I've had in quite some time. One of the newest places in camp north end, had heard a lot of good things so had to go try. Overall my experience was very mid. They're still pretty new so I expect some bumps in the road. They seem to specialize in smashed burgers which are in themselves crispy edged. These I personally felt were a little too charred. It was all I could taste. Fries were good.
