I think I am late to the party, but what a fun little dive bar tucked in NODA. There was plenty of parking near by and we decided to get burgers & fries. The fry basket is plenty to share between two people & the burger literally melted in my mouth - soooo good!! We also got the bbq nuggets, I was also very impressed by these. Overpriced by delicious. I met a friend here for lunch. I ordered the Cobra Kai burger (everything is served a la carte). It was 12 dollars for a burger about the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger. It was absolutely delicious, but I couldn't quite wrap my head around the cost for such a small burger. I absolutely loved the decor and the vibes of the restaurant. It's a really eclectic place. The service was speedy, but the kitchen was kinda slow. If the prices matched the portion size and everything wasn't individually priced, it would be a 5 star. read more

The burger option drew us in to this burger and bar spot in NoDa. It's right next to the Firehouse and 4 firefighters were enjoying lunch at the next table. They have about 10 beers on tap, lots of cans, and liquor at the bar. They have plain burgers, 8 specialty burgers, and daily specials. I really enjoyed the heat from the Kobra Kai burger. We also got a basket of fries and I took the staff's suggestion of dipping them in their delicious sauce of mayo, garlic, and onion - great suggestion! This is a a great spot for a quick and casual burger and beer in NoDa. read more

I first discovered Jack Brown's in Nashville and it quickly became my go-to for burgers whenever I was in town. I was a tad skeptical when I heard one had opened up in Charlotte -- places tend to lose that original flavor whenever they branch out. Well, that isn't the case here. In fact, I don't know if it's because I haven't been to Jack Brown's in so long but the burger I had in Charlotte (Ron Swanson, the Tuesday special) was five-star worthy. Not to mention, the decor of this Jack Brown's was the similar chill, divey and laidback kinda vibe of the one in Nashville, the servers were absolutely great and it's in a fun part of town. Their sauces are good too as well as their beer collection. You really can't go wrong here and I'm glad for this latest addition to the Charlotte food scene. read more

Billy Jack's is one of those NoDa spots that just hits. It's a bar atmosphere, so great if you're just trying to chill, drink & eat good food while hanging out with your friends. If you're looking for a quiet spot to have great conversation with a friend, this isn't the place for you hahaha. It's pretty loud, but I love that kind of environment! The food is also pretty solid! I've had a few things on the menu, but what stands out to me is the waffles with sticky nuggs. A solid combo that will fill you up. Only reason I deducted a star is because it is kind of late night, bar food, not necessarily top notch cuisine. But stop by late at night when you got the munchies and you won't be disappointed in the service or the food! read more

Me and the kids had slept late so we were up late last night. I didn't feel like cooking so I got on Yelp and I found Jack Brown's and Noda that is open till 2 AM. It was around 11 o'clock when I ordered four burgers for me and my children. I parked on the street across the street from the store and me and my daughter went in and got it. It was packed with people, laughing, smiling and having fun. I got the burger with the mushroom and the grilled onions. It was banging my children got the regular cheeseburgers. They each came with a little dipping sauce. It was great sorry no pictures. We were so hungry. We couldn't take a picture. read more

We have been here several times and they never disappoint. The atmosphere and staff are always welcoming and friendly. In the past we have had their burgers and they are standout. Located in Noda, parking can sometimes be challenging. This time we had the macaroni bites and sticky nuggs. The appetizers are served in a carton for sharing. The burger and fries were soooo good! This was my first time stopping in for a quick beer and I decided to grab some food as well. It was a Saturday night, there was a cute little crowd, nothing too crazy. The bartender was so friendly and super fun. We chatted for the time I was there since I sat at the bar. Stoped into BillJack's Shack for a snack last weekend, and enjoyed some delicious and wildly messy nachos...after all, are nachos and good if they're not messy? They load up a plate of their hose made potato chips with BBQ pork, mac and cheese, white Alabama sauce, onions and bacon! So many delicious flavor all culminating into one. The interior was packed full, but they had some open seating on their covered patio. Fun, eclectic atmosphere. Waitstaff was friendly and quick. Nachos were great, I'd definitely try other items if I'm ever in the area again! read more

Very quirky establishment in Noda. Right in front of Bargaritta Bar. Walked in, and we were able to seat ourselves right away. Waitress took our order quickly and efficiently. Towards the end, though, she did get flooded, so it took her a while to bring us our check. Overall, it was a great vibe, different types of people, and I love the quirkiness of this place. My friend ordered two sliders and fries, and they were delicious. Just the right amount of food to not get you overlly full. The fries were awesome. Just the right amount of crisp to them and the sauce was delicious. Reminded me of Yum Yum sauce. Overall, great place. Will definitely be returning. read more

Not impressed at all... Burgers were small and pretty much basic. BJs sauce was ok for my tots, without it, they were tasteless. Food was brought to the table and i was given the wrong burger, found this out by biting into it. Brought it to the attention of the server, basically was told they wouldn't remake it for the other person i was with (even though the server told me it was the one i ordered, and it wasn't)....she basically stayed away from my table until it was time to drop off the check. I'm sure it's a nice place and lots of people enjoy it, I'm good on going back though. Wasn't the best experience for me. read more

This place was excellent. The Pickle was even super tasty. I had the Ron Swanson and it was FANTASTIC. I got their loaded fries, again FANTASTIC. For years I had wanted to try the food here and finally did it, and I haven't turned back since. They have some of the best bar food I've had. I've ordered plenty of the menu by now and haven't had anything bad. Check it out if you are in the Noda area. It checks out with the eclectic vibe that you'd expect from somewhere in Noda and it definitely feels like a dive bar. Service and food has always been quick! While I still enjoy this place I feel the need to update my review. Back around the time of the Covid pandemic they removed a large portion of their menu including a lot of my favorites like the billy jack Mac. I was told at the time it was to simplify their menu since like all restaurants they were having difficulties associated with the pandemic. This is understandable, but unfortunately the discarded items were never brought back. They don't have much variety on their menu anymore. They used to be one of my favorite places to eat in noda. Now I see it more as just a place to grab drinks. Maybe one day they will expand their menu again, one can only dream. read more

Belly full of Redneck Nachos and a beer and I am stuffed! Nice take on nachos with bbq pork on home made potato chips, very tasty! Service was quick and friendly. The main dining space was packed but we found room on the patio. Very hot day, but they did have fans to keep the air moving. Very interesting decor, interesting odds and ends packed in everywhere, plus stickers everywhere. Had fun looking at the variety. May have to come back to try the burgers and sliders next time we make it to the charlotte area. Enjoyed walking around the NoDa area a bit after eating . read more

What a great experience we had here pregaming before a Panthers game! Bartender was on her A-game even though it was pretty crowded for late afternoon. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but the staff turned the tables over quickly. The most you could sit at a hightop is 6 and I didn't see any other tables "pushed" together. The rest of the venue is very eclectic and designed for a good time. Three of us at our table ordered the sliders with sides of tots and one of our guests got a regular hamburger with french fries. The burgers were really good I highly recommend trying this place out, as we will definitely go back and try other things on the menu! read more

Truly one of my favorite lunch boxes of all time. I did the Greg Brady and Shooter McGavin sliders with the salad. To my surprise not only were the sliders really good, but the salad was incredible too, and it all filled the box so nicely haha. It was a perfect takeaway lunch situation. My foodie friend was telling me about this being her new spot, so of course I wanted to come check it out with her! We love a good dive bar :) Billy Jack's Shack is in the heart of Noda and this particular day parking wasn't too bad. I walked in and immediately felt at home lol. It was just such a chill vibe, lots to look at lol. We came on a Friday during the day so there weren't many people. A very short time after I sat down the server came over and I'm soooo sad I don't remember his name but he was AMAZING!!!! So attentive and sweet! He anticipated our needs with bringing things over and just checking on us in general and was super knowledgeable. He was just really great!!! I ordered the "Big Jack Burger" and ooooooooooh my goooooosh it was one of the best burgers I've had the great pleasure of biting in to in a LONG time! IDK who was on the grill on this day but Bless you LOL. The burger has: lettuce, american cheese, dill pickles, fried onions, and doppelgänger sauce and it was fantastic! Our server highly recommend the tater tots to this first timer so I obliged and I was not disappointed. All this paired with a Mountain Candy brew from Sycamore....ah good times. Dark + divey! Billy Jack's is a solid spot to hang out with friends. Good food and good beer selection! I recommend joining the Bones Club and get rewarded once you drink 100 different beers (it doesn't expire don't worry)! I just moved here and definitely plan to stop in to watch games in the fall. Easy walk from the light rail, would definitely recommend leaving your car at home. read more

I'm relatively new to Billy Jack's Shack despite passing by it for years - who knew what so was missing out on?! The atmosphere is lively and everyone seems to be welcome just as they are. The spot is small, but the food is surprisingly great. Service is good and the prices are affordable. I'd go back every day if I could. read more

Overall it was not a good experience and I don't think we will return. From the moment we sat down it was one thing after another. The customer service lacked so much. Our server was Colin and he just was not attentive nor very helpful. We ordered drinks while sitting outside because it was a nice day. When we asked the drink orders he told us we would have to go inside to look. Then I asked if they had a portable menu and he said no which was strange especially sitting on the patio I think it would be alot to have customers walk inside, remember what they want, and then return to their seat to let you know what they would love to try. I stuck with a water and simply asked for a straw which took at least 4 different times before he finally brought it. Once it was time for food, we ordered the bites plain with sauce on the side but he misunderstood and put them on the chicken instead. When he returns, his response was so....what do you want me to do? And asked if we wanted to keep them. We asked to have them remade because the it was too spicy they wanted to dip. It's too much to list the other things. It just wasn't a great experience overall. When they are more attentive to friends and other parties who are sitting outside, it makes you not want to return even if the food is okay. read more
