First time here since they left Rock Hill. Nice atmosphere, great service. Food was exceptional, wife had hash, I had Irish curry on French fries. Leprechaun balls for an appetizer. Good wheelchair accessibility.

I'm SO excited about this new Irish bar in the neighborhood. Noda needed a place like this. We went for the soft opening last week, and everything was great. Service, food, atmosphere etc. The patio is really big and will be even better in the fall when it cools down. The menu is bigger than expected, with a lot of options for everyone. We went with the Goat Cheese Spread to start, which was tasty. You get a lot of goat cheese for the price. I definitely want to try some of the other appetizers next time though. We got the grilled cheese and soup, and the fish and chips for our meals. We both thought they were delicious. Again, we'd like to come back and try some other dishes next time. Overall, this is definitely going to be a hot spot in Noda!

NoDa just got itself a proper Irish pub and apparently everyone already knows...because when I walked in at 6pm on a random Tuesday, the place was already poppin' like it was St. Paddy's. And they haven't even had their grand opening yet. By 7pm? Every seat was taken. You'd think they were giving away Guinness-flavored gold bars. This place gives "local pub energy" in the best way. Inside, McHale's looks like your Irish uncle's den got upgraded with vintage chandeliers, leather bar stools, and just the right amount of framed wall clutter to feel like someone actually lives there. There's a long wooden bar, deep booths, and vibes so cozy I half-expected someone to hand me a fiddle and ask me to join the band. And speaking of music...one of the hostesses was dancing around the dining room to Fleetwood Mac. Like full twirl mode. That's when I knew I was gonna like it here. I love seeing the staff enjoy their job. My server Olivia was chill and super helpful, and she immediately pointed me to their most popular starter: the Leprechaun Balls. Yes, that's their real name. Yes, I ordered them without hesitation. They're fried cheddar and cream cheese balls stuffed with jalapeño and served with a thick house-made ranch. These were basically the Irish version of jalapeño poppers...hot, crunchy, creamy cheese grenades with a mild kick. The kind of thing you could eat twelve of and still pretend it was "just a little snack." Then came the Fish and Chips, and holy haddock, this thing was massive. The beer-battered fish was hot enough to brand the roof of my mouth and crispy like it had been fried by angels. The thick hand-cut fries were golden perfection, and the house-made tartar sauce was so good I contemplated dipping my finger in it. And because I clearly hate moderation, I added on a side of the Guinness Mac and Cheese. It was everything I wanted...creamy, cheesy, just a whisper of Guinness, and topped with toasted breadcrumbs. A solid choice if you're the type to judge a place by their mac. The menu is stacked. Starters include Irish egg rolls, sausage rolls, goat cheese spread with brown bread, and those already-legendary leprechaun balls. Entrées run from hearty stuff like Irish Curry and Steak Frites to lighter picks like Peach Whiskey Salmon and Chicken Kebab. And yes, they've got grilled oysters, pub burgers, and even a Reuben sandwich if you want something handheld. While I don't drink, the drink list's no slouch either, plenty of Irish brews on tap, craft beers, wine, and cocktails like the "Irish Old Fashioned" and a "Mocha Espresso Martini" for those who want dessert with a buzz. The entrance is NOT the door facing the street. It's the side door on the right of the building. I spent a good minute staring at the front like I was locked out of Hogwarts. Also, parking is...not ideal. Either Uber, walk, or prepare for a fun little scavenger hunt around the block for street parking or one of the paid lots nearby. This place has potential to be a true neighborhood staple. I'd love to see live music nights or impromptu jam sessions where people just show up with fiddles, bodhráns, or whatever else you play after three pints. McHale's already feels like home...if your home came with killer mac, fried cheese bombs, and a happy hostess spinning to Stevie Nicks. Want more legit Charlotte food spots without the fluff? Fries were good, but the rest of the plater was over ( fried / cooked ). We only had the fries & threw the rest out.

Service was good for a busy night, but Food could be better, the plater was over cooked. 1st Irish pub to cook average food. Just ate the fries and threw the rest

It was a Friday night two weeks before Christmas, but it was only 5:45pm so I feel like we got lucky. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. We ordered cocktails and embraced the tapas menu, ordering too many things to sample and share. We sadly had to leave some of it behind. Our waitress was a sweetheart and though the restaurant space was big and open, the warm wood and exposed brick inside made it feel welcoming and cozy. There was enough room between tables that we didn't feel crammed in and the table was big enough to hold all the delicious goodness. I felt like two top tables can sometimes barely hold your water glass and bread plate. We head to Charlotte pretty regularly for various things, and I would like to bring our teenage boys back sometime. I think they would really like the menu and style of the restaurant. Nice enough for a quick date night before and event, but casual enough that I feel like we could bring the teens and not have to "dress up".

I do think the interior sometimes feels a bit too "open-concept," if you know what I mean... ...but who cares?! The food is great! Of the stuff that stays on the menu, I really like: the chicken sandwich, the tandoori carrots, the mussels, and the pierogis. As for the current menu: I really like the watermelon caprese salad, scallops, and curry chicken tacos.

Irish chicken curry was good too, but you can't go wrong with the haddock. Best I've had in years. Our service was superb as well. Bartender was helpful and staff were great. I wound up taking down two different chilled whiskeys before switching to half and half beer and a couple of Boddington's. Hey, not my usual routine, but it had been a stressful conference... For dinner, I ordered the fish and chips for $25. Not cheap, but great quality. They give you one huge filet, perfectly crispy and nicely seasoned. The fries were crispy as well, with just a little flavor on them. I also got a bottle of Irish malt vinegar for the fries, some tartar sauce and half of a grilled lemon. The fish and chips didn't come with haricot verts or any other vegetable so I ordered some Brussel sprouts. Maybe to feel slightly less guilty, I don't know. The sprouts blew my mind, they had been flash fried, so they came with a little crunch on them. They also had a little balsamic glaze for even more flavor. Well worth the $7 and maybe even more. I received friendly personable service from numerous bartenders. The restaurant plays a variety of music between Irish and American pop. Great downtown spot to unwind and enjoy some good pub grub and beverages.

They have several options for draft beer and a lot of them are local craft brews which we enjoy. We like to support local businesses and so does Growlers. They source their ingredients from local farms! The flavor profiles for the things we ordered were very good but there were a few execution issues. The Carnitas Nachos were good but the chips were not crisp, and the cheese sauce was grainy. The carnitas were tender but could use more seasoning, and once you get past the top layer, it's mostly just chips. I ordered the wings and asked for the three pepper and the jerk. I chose the blue cheese dip and it's the best that I've had in a very, very long time. Thick and creamy with lots of chunky blue. I'd go back just for that. The three pepper was delicious and the wings still had a super crispy skin. Absolutely an excellent wing. The flavor of the jerk is amazing. It's a perfectly balanced blend of sweet and warm spices, but the sauce had been reduced down too quickly and you still got the graininess from the spice. Overall, a few things could be tweaked, but it was a fun experience.
