Beef Philly cheesesteak Fries
Candace M.

Have been wanting to try this place out because I heard they have good turkey burgers. To turn around and not even order the turkey burger ‍. Decided to order the chicken Philly cheesesteak, which they messed up my order and gave me beef instead of chicken. Had to send that back and wait another 20-25min for the chicken. Our waitress was generous to give us more fries for the long wait. Also as happy to have ate the salad prior or I would of been hangry haha. Our waitress was very friend. Wish I could remember her name because she was very sweet. If you go, ask for the waitress that's 4'11. Bet she's that only one that's that height working there haha. The restaurant itself was nice and plenty of room to move around. Also looked like they had an upstairs patio for people to chill. And a patio out front for seating. There was also people walking in with instruments, so they might have a lose band that plays there sometimes. Recommended you try them out!

Barbalo wings

My first time at Thomas Street Tavern was enjoyable. The barbalo wings were perfectly cooked, a good size and tasty. The picture is a partial order due my eagerness to eat them. The tavern was clean and well staffed. I look forward to going back.

Best Place to grab a bite to eat and sit outside on the spacious patio! Really great atmosphere with many fun games.

Jessica's Tweety Bird

TST was always a hidden gem for us before the pandemic, fairly priced food, drinks & beer! We came for a quick lunch, I got the Jessica's tweety bird with fries per recommendation of Mikey and it did not disappoint. The garlic toasted bread was what set this sandwich off. The hot wings were nice and spicy, the perfect hot! My hubs devoured the hot dog so I didn't even get to get a bite, but I made up for it with the okra as that is always fried just right! Mikey made sure he always had a full beer! This is a bar feel, so don't expect a fancy date night. Visit at night for the outdoor fun and live music on the weekends!

Thomas Street Tavern is a very discriminatory close minded environment. I walked in to the Tavern this evening wearing a Trump shirt and was openly ridiculed by multiple patrons - who openly called me "disgusting" and referred to me as a "cunt" due to my shirt. A woman eventually started screaming at me and my husband and both of us were quickly kicked out by the manager due to us defending ourselves against a liberal mob who would refused to leave us alone. I was never as humiliated or had as many insults screamed at me in my entire life. I thought this was America. Although I did not engage, management clearly supported this mob mentality. I was NOT screaming, cursing. - yet, it was me who was escorted to the door for being a "problem." Thomas Street Tavren is the most close minded, ignorant environment I have ever been in. American fascism at its worse.

I like that they had Magner's on draft, and of course no Irish pub is complete without a Guinness. Good selection of food, but we went with a bunch of starters- sliders, chips, sausage roll, and fried pickle okra. Okra was a favorite. The slider was delicious!! Chips were good, though they were thick-cut potatoes like wedges, so I wish they could've been a bit crispier. I wasn't a fan of the sausage roll, but my friend liked it. Great service, we were checked on frequently. It's a loud spot in the later hours, but that martini was so good I made my friend go back the next night to get another.

We ordered the Honey Badger cocktail, sausage rolls, shepherd's pie, and purple potato gnocchi. The honey badger cocktail was pretty sweet, and although I usually like sweet drinks, this one wasn't well balanced. My favorites were the sausage rolls and shepherd's pie! Perfect savory flavors. The Shepherd's pie had the perfect ratios of ingredients and a nice jus which didn't make the whole dish soggy. The sausage rolls were soft and flavorful with a perfect flaky/buttery roll which was great with the stone ground mustard. The side salad which came with the shepherd's pie was not my favorite. The gnocchi was okay. It was a bit too sweet and overwhelmed by the bell pepper flavor. I wouldn't order it again. The baguette and butter with it was very good as well as the presentation though.

Valhalla Pub and Eatery is a nice neighborhood pub with an appealing menu and a full bar…read more Unfortunately, for nearly every positive aspect of our visit, there seemed to be a frustrating inconsistency in how the pub was operated. A couple of friends and I decided to attend a Charlotte FC watch party during the team's match against FC Dallas, which was being played just down the street at Bank of America Stadium. Valhalla promotes itself as a soccer bar and a destination for Charlotte FC watch parties. However, that commitment seemed to take a back seat when other sporting events were on television. If you're going to promote yourself as a Charlotte FC watch-party destination, particularly through the team's website, you should be prepared to accommodate fans who come specifically to watch the match. I arrived about half an hour before my friends and waited at the bar. The bartender was very pleasant and worked hard, assisted by another staff member. When my friends arrived, we found a table directly in front of the largest television in the downstairs dining area. College football games were playing on all the televisions, and a Notre Dame watch party was taking place upstairs. Before ordering, we asked our waiter whether he could put the Charlotte FC match on the television nearest our table. He agreed. However, when the match began, it appeared on two smaller televisions some distance from us instead. We were happy to let the Maryland football game finish on the large television. But when that game ended, the pub switched it to the White Sox-Guardians playoff game rather than the Charlotte FC match. We did our best to watch the soccer match from our table. During the second half, the Charlotte FC match finally appeared on the large television in front of us. We were delighted! Other soccer fans even moved to nearby seats to get a better view. Then, unexpectedly, our original waiter approached and said that fans were going to "kill him" if he didn't switch the television back to baseball. I didn't notice anyone nearby watching the baseball game, so I pleaded with him to leave the soccer match on. Fortunately, he did! What puzzled me was that the baseball game wasn't subsequently shown on any of the other televisions, including those that were already showing the soccer match. It left me wondering why there had been such resistance to accommodating the Charlotte FC fans in the first place. The staff operates as a team rather than assigning one server exclusively to each table. Some employees were outstanding, particularly the bartender. Others, unfortunately, were less accommodating, and the inconsistent communication about the televisions detracted from our experience. About the food! We shared Odin's Pretzel Bites, pillowy pretzel bites with garlic and Parmesan cheese. They were enjoyable! Like me, one of my friends ordered Lodbrok's Lamb Burger. I really enjoyed mine, although my friend thought his was just okay. Our other friend ordered wings and said they were good. A couple of things to know before visiting! The restaurant automatically adds a 20% gratuity on special-event days. There is also a 3% surcharge for credit-card payments. I recommend checking your bill carefully so you're aware of these additional charges. Finally, Valhalla is located in Uptown Charlotte, so be prepared to pay for parking. Overall, Valhalla has some real positives: a pleasant pub atmosphere, enjoyable food, and several hardworking employees. However, our experience was disappointing because we specifically came to watch Charlotte FC at a pub that advertises itself as a soccer destination. Better communication and a more consistent commitment to its advertised watch parties would have made a considerable difference.

It's hard to describe quite how special this place is; for all the features and fun things to do, the venue has an effortless vibe and the drinks have the best prices you can find in the city. Don't let that fool you; just about everyone on the bar staff has extensive experience as trained cocktail bartenders, and the top shelf is nothing to scoff at. There are also regular karaoke nights, movie events, and a steady rotation of absolutely amazing food tents and trucks coming through in the parking lot. The bar is divey, and you can find very cheap drinks, especially if you go for the daily specials. The bartenders are nice - beware that they do keep your card if you keep your tab open - and seem to know the regulars. In addition to monthly bingo, they seem to host drag events, have video games and board games available to play, as well as several TVs. Plus, dogs can go inside and out. The bar does not serve food, though usually there is a vendor there. Looking forward to next month!
