I'm not sure if they are serving burgers, fries, and shakes or simply black tar heroin cleverly disguised as food because when we dined here for the first time I was immediately seized by the desire to return again and again, my mouth waters even as I write this. The burgers were full (not smashed as a lot of fast foods burgers are), the meat and cheese were HOT and fresh, and even the fries were appropriately salty and nicely cooked, not under or over done. The eponymous "shake" was also as perfect as a shake could be and I appreciated their portions, not giving you so much that you feel bloated but enough to be full without having to "order the menu." The words I would associate with this place are yum, *slurp*, satisfied, and return, because I'm not sure I will ever be able to pass another one without stopping. Never Again! Came in town today for work. Visited the mall. Was hungry and stopped to get a nice burger for dinner. I ordered my food. Stood there for almost 20 minutes before I got it. And the order was Wrong! I told them about it.. instead of correcting it immediately they just put another order in for it. Stood there another 15 minutes. I was so excited to try this place, but was disappointed. Didn't live up to it's hype. The burger was a lot more pink/red inside that I would prefer, the fries were ok nothing special ( tasted just like Culver's fries) chocolate shake had weird chemical after taste of bitterness. My wife and I were looking for a good place to eat while we were visiting the Mall of America. Shake Shack had the longest line in the North Food Court so we figured it was worth checking out. For custard drinks, we tried the Shack Attack and Pie Oh My; and for burgers, we tried the SmokeShack and Shack Stack. Their burgers aren't ginormous, but they're the perfect size to keep you full and satisfied. Shack Attack - very sweet with lots of chunks of dark chocolate. It was a little too sweet for me, but still delicious. Pie Oh My - we liked this one over the Shack Attack. It had some blueberries in it with chunks of pie that made it taste like blueberry pie in shake form. SmokeShack - it was delicious but kind of salty for my taste. It might have been the bacon that made it more saltier than I would have liked. Shack Stack - we liked this burger over the SmokeShack. The mushroom stuffed with cheese made it a burger of gooey goodness. The ShackSauce that they put in the burger made it taste even better. read more

O M G. On a recent visit to the Mall of America, I was so excited to see that they had a Shake Shack. I've been wanting to see what the hype was about, and wasn't disappointed. I got the Shackburger & split some cheese fries with my BF. The burger was flavorful, not greasy, and the perfect size. The fries tasted fresh & crispy, and I'm from Wisconsin so throw some cheese on anything and I'm probably going to like it. Someone from Shake Shack corporate needs to straighten out this location. I've been there four times over a a year or so. Each time it was painful to observe the kitchen operation which is in full view. There is a lack of action and focus. There doesn't seem to be anyone in charge. Employees just wander away from there stations while the line of customers grows and grows. The food is ok (one burger was not completely cooked) but not as good as my first SS in New York. Guys, what am I missing?! I wanted to love this place, but I found myself underwhelmed. I mean, nothing was BAD at all, it just wasn't anything special. The Burger: I went with the traditional cheeseburger. It was really quite tasty, well salted, good condiments. But it was really small for over $5. And the way it was arranged, all the condiments were on one side. The Fries: Well crisped, under-salted. Ketchup tasted really sweet too. Minnesota knows burgers well. With Matt's, The Nook and a numerous amount of other places. The Shake Shack needs to step it up. Their bun is still amazing and the fresh chicken breast is awesome. The cold hard flavorless cheese sauce left something to be desired. It might have been the rude cashier. Cannot blame and iconic burger shop for employing rude people, they are Minnesotans working there after all. But for restaurant prices for fast food I expect a bit more. I came on opening day, there was a bit of a line but they had folks handing out menus and free t-shirts that made the time pass pretty quickly. We probably only waited in line for about 10 minutes. I ordered a double hamburger with some fixings, hot dog, and chocolate shake. We stopped at the bathroom and by the time we walked back our food was ready. Service was quick for how busy it was and everyone was very attentive and friendly. We even got a free notebook while we were eating our lunch. The food is affordable and of great quality. At the new renovated food court in MOA this corner joint sits like an anchor place. You start at the stainless steel counter with open view to the kitchen. I was confused with the steel look. Should I expect a fast food experience or a higher end excursion. A quick look around you notice that your order comes in a quarter-sheet sized baking trays. I had a plain burger (lettuce tomatoes onions and crinkle fries. Nothing memorable but nothing to complain about either. It is certainly not fast food but noway near high end. Now I see what all the fuss is about. I'm so glad that they have a location in the mall and the line speaks for what they serve. We showed up around 4pm, which was a little quieter between lunch and dinner. I went with a Smoke Shack ($6.84) with a Lift Bridge Farm Girl Saison ($5, tall can). That is the best thing about this place; you can get a great burger with a decent beer, so long as you sit within the dining area. The burger was delicious and smokey, as advertised. I had a couple of my boyfriend's fries, which were just OK. I am not a fan of crinkle cut, but they did their best to fry them hard. He also asked for a Dr. Pepper but I think he got iced tea by mistake, though that was rectified quickly. The price seems fair for what you get, and the service is efficient though no time to be friendly. You get a sort of pager once you order and wait until it buzzes to go fetch your food. All in all, an excellent fast food option; clearly the best in the mall. read more

I recently moved back to Minneapolis from Philadelphia and had been missing Shake Shack so much. I am so excited that Shake Shack finally made its way to the Midwest. I always order their Shack Burger and add onions and pickles and a side of shack sauce, because it's so good you need extra. My burger was a bit over cooked last week compared to ones I've had on the East Coast, so I'm hoping that's a fluke. Their crinkle cut fries are delicious, though I was also a fan of their short-lived fresh cut fries. Order a side of cheese sauce with the fries if you can. Their shakes are delicious too and vary between locations. Next time I go, I'm going to try the Malt of America shake. As far as lines, I went during the week around 6:00 and it took about 5-10 minutes to order and 10 minutes for food. The food is made fresh so it's worth the wait. There's plenty of seating since it's in the food court. If you love burgers, check out Shake Shack! They have other delicious options as well, like fried chicken sandwich, shroom burger, and hot dog. read more

They say you never forget your first time and I definitely won't. After taking the first bite out of my double stack, I quickly came to the realization that in the heated In-N-Out vs. Shake Shack debate, I was #teamshakeshack. The burger was actually seasoned and therefore delightfully flavorful. And I also witnessed one of the most ingenious things I have ever seen; they don't cut the bun all the way through, so at the back of your burger, the bun is connected. Don't you hate it when you eat a burger and with every bite the burger and toppings slowly slide out from the protective covering of the bun so ultimately you're left with an uneven ratio of burger to bun? Yeah that definitely doesn't happen here cause this place PAYS ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS!! YAY! I also got cheese fries which came with a cute fork made from a popsicle stick. FINALLLYYYYYYY. A trip to New York City always promised a delicious burger from Shake Shack, but now I need not travel hours on a plane to experience this meaty goodness. It's just a 10 minute drive to MOA and a (somewhat long but endurable) wait in line on the third floor for a Shake Shack treat. I tried the Chick-n-Shack and wasn't disappointed! Juicy, fresh & mouthwateringly delicious. My husband got the double Smoke Shack - a double cheese burger with bacon. So delicious! The burgers range from $6-$9 usually, which to me is a great deal for a delicious, iconic, responsibly-sourced burger at the Mall of America! The eating environment is upscale and trendy. i really wanted to like shake shack but it was nothing more than average. the strawberry lemonade had a weird aftertaste. the cheese on the cheese fries was lumpy, chicken was undercooked and the shroom burger was over cooked and missing the toppings. Whilst the quality of food is decent it isn't really quite worth the wait or price. It's a short falling reach for the quality and stature of California's In n Out burger which absolutely smashes this place. The burger was overly smushed into something resembling a patty and then over cooked and/or deep fried into oblivion. The 'niman ranch' bacon has been prepared in such a way that I find offensive to the pig. Fries aren't good, oil needs a change and don't even worry about the 'cheese' or bacon - waste of money. Shakes are a bit of a passion of mine, I love a good malt, frozen custard, iced chocolate - whatever you want to call them. DO NOT get one here, dairy is lackluster and the malt I paid an extra 50c for is not be found. Will I be back? NEVER read more

I have been keeping my eye out for a Shake Shack during my travels because I heard it was so amazing. I was quite excited to see Shake Shack today at the MOA. I ordered a SmokeShack burger and small Mountain Dew. I was quite disappointed with the appearance of my burger, all slopped together, falling apart and to complete this mess, a soggy bun. I took this sad burger to my table and ate it. Sure, it was better than the national chains, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. In fact, I will probably pass on Shake Shack from here on out unless I'm stoned, need munchies and there's a Shack nearby. The service was also quite subpar.
