I recently needed a new pair of pants altered, and the folks at Club Monaco recommended John the Tailor. They said he was the best in downtown, and that most people in the city core love him. Well, you can add me to that list! The changing rooms are actually changing rooms with locks on the doors, not those small compartments with curtains that make you feel so vulnerable. With a quick tuck here and a single swish of his tailor's chalk, John has your measurements done in no time and you can be off to run other errands in the mall. He doesn't waste your time, and that's one thing I really like about him. He also hums and whistles while he works, which I think is rather endearing. I asked him if he could have my pants (two pairs) done sooner, and he said he'd try to get them done in a day. I came back at the end of the next day, and both my pants were altered just to my liking. It came to $34 for both my pants, which I think is fair for the quality of the work. It's like I bought them just like that. Taking in a pair of pants at the waist will cost more than simply adjusting the hems. The staff are helpful and friendly; one guy was conversing with an elderly lady when I picked up my tailoring. They seem quite busy here, as there is always someone there when I come by, and it seems you have to specifically ask for a rush order, otherwise it could take a few days because they have so many orders coming in. I brought in my otherwise very well made Mark's winter parka (for our frigid winters) that had a…read morevery annoying double zipper that I had such difficulties with and it was very much stuck in place. The tailor saw right away what was wrong with the zipper and had a plan in place how to fix the problem. He indicated that the zipper needed to be stronger, wider and of a better quality. He suggested having a much better single zipper and for the zipper to not extend to the bottom of the parka. I readily agreed with him that this would be a perfect plan. Fabric would be put in place at the bottom. It also already had snaps. I brought it in on Tuesday and it was ready on Friday. I was ever so very happy with my parka and truly wonderful new zipper (YKK - great quality)!!! It works perfectly now and I have no difficulties with it! I have in the past brought items into the shop and have always been totally satisified with the service and reasonable costs!!! Do bring your tailoring needs here and of course drycleaning!

Sorry but that's really pricey for most places that charge $8-$12 for a basic hem for sweat pants!! They told me I could pick them up in a week so really defeated coming here since I needed them ASAP. It's unfortunate because it's a decent space they have.

The waist wasn't taken in evenly on both sides and the belt loops aren't evenly placed now to the point that it's super noticeable and I will never be able to wear a belt or any cropped shirt with these pants because it's so noticeable. When I brought them in I had made some marks myself but noted that I probably wanted to have them taken in less than that and they indicated they would take them in 1 1/2 inches instead of 2 1/2 inches (and took new measurements themselves while I was in the shop), but it appears they took them in 2 1/2 inches so I don't think there's even enough fabric to fix it. I thought the whole point of going to a dry cleaners was to take care of fine items that can't be just thrown into the washer. Disappointing.
