So I finally got my fish. I went here on a recommendation from a friend, after I had reason to switch from the corporate store I was originally going to buy from. The Seven Seas Aquarium is small, but tidy, with lots of fish and accessories. Great looking pieces of drift wood, substrate, and even adhesives for making your own fish decorations. I had my daughter with me, but I will go back soon so I can look around a bit more. The tanks all look really good, to the left is salt water and to the right is fresh water. There was a great assortment of fish, and the owner was very helpful in selecting the fish to go with the black skirt tetras I had called about earlier. The prices were a little higher than the corporate store, but hey, healthy fish come at a cost! We ended up with two black skirt tetras, 4 xray tetras, and a gold snail. It's been a few days now, and all the fish are still alive and adjusting. No signs of sickness, and the xrays are actually enchancing in color, with orange back fins and a bit of yellow on the top fin. The gold snail is going to town. I'm glad I only got one to be honest, because it cleaned up the tank in like a half hour. This will be my go to place to get my live fish, plants, and special things like drift wood. so the most recent review for this aquarium shop is 3 years ago. i'll give an update. i wish i could give more stars bc the guy working here (might be the owner?) was nice & quick to help with questions about stuff in his store. problem is, it's hard to stay long here unless you know exactly what you need bc it smells really bad, like urine - mainly in the back - of ammonia. it's bc of the feeder mice & where they are placed in the back- it's not properly up-kept maybe. the carpet in diff areas looked like something was trying to grow out of it & i came out of this store feeling like i needed an immediate shower. i had to spray myself w isopropyl alcohol before getting back into my car. there were a variety of food selections, stones & driftwood; a variety of tank sizes, filters, and tools. the fish (saltwater & freshwater) for the most part seemed healthy, active & were beautiful. the snail tank was pretty gross but that's sort of expected (?). there wasn't a huge guppy variety, just blonde koi guppies. the glo fish & tetras were plentiful tho. the aquatic plants in the freshwater tank did not look healthy - most of it looked like it was dying. one of the tanks the angel fish were in looked a bit dirty..but with that, the fish looked healthy & active. there's a beautiful selection of coral in the saltwater tank in the front left of the store by the door - which was pleasant. the two saltwater tanks at the front were gorgeous, clean & well maintained. very diff to the freshwater tanks in the back. all in all, unless i know exactly what i need from this place, i don't believe i'll come back for fish, plants, decor or anything. that's a bummer. i was trying to avoid buying a particular fish breed at petco or petsmart.. read more

Pure awesomeness. STILL. Our favorite salt water and freshwater fish store in in all of the Fresno Clovis Area. We had moved away for some time and decided to take a look at the store again. Tanks were clean and livestock was healthy and happy. Plenty of beautiful , thriving corals and fish . The owner is working on his fresh water planted tank though , he had some issues with it so the fresh water plants are reviving. Gravel , RO water , pumps , heaters , skimmers, medicine , testing kits etc you can get it here. If not the owner can order it for you. Great customer service and knowledge. Seven Seas Aquarium was a great place to get a starter kit going for a small fish and aquarium. We decided on a 2 gallon tank and a beautiful Calico Shubunkin for our first fish together. My four year old had a great time walking around the store and interacting with all the fish and the little mice. The owner keeps the tanks nice and clean, and was informative and helpful when we were making our decisions. read more

He doesn't have the widest stock of salt water fish in Fresno, but the best part is he can order it for you, and his fish are the best quality. I have purchased a clown fish and a mandarin goby from him, and both of those fishes are doing real well in my aquarium. Also I love his live rocks, he sells them, and they are really healthy and always fresh. You could also find live food from him. Not the cheapest in the valley, but he is reasonable. You could also expect to find some fresh water fish too, which are all very healthy. I got my gold fishes from here, and they are all thriving and healthy. He also knows his stuff. A great place if you have both salt and fresh water tank. He doesn't have much choices for tanks and pumps, but he carries them. But hand down best place to get a healthy fish read more

We love this shop! My 13-year-old son has been into the reefkeeping hobby for a year and Mark (the owner) has been so helpful and supportive since the very beginning. Mark is our favorite part about Seven Seas...he always welcomes us with a smile and is more than happy to talk about coral stuff with my kid (if you know about this hobby at all, you know how long those conversations can be ;-) We come here every week for his fancy water (my son says his RODI water is the best in town!) but we've also purchased everything else you need for a tank, including corals, fish, and invertebrates. Everything is the highest quality and we've been very happy. If you're new to the hobby, or even if it's too hot outside and you need a place to entertain your family (it's like taking a field trip to a tiny aquarium), I wholeheartedly reccommend Seven Seas. While they have a beautiful selection of salt water fish. The lack of acknowledgement from the clerk who based on the the phone glued to his hand the entire time we were in the store tells me he is most likely the owner. We were only acknowledged after we had been in the store a good 10 minutes. We were the only people in the store. We did not feel welcomed at all. We drove over an hour to check out this store to enhance our saltwater tank. Obviously a waste of time. read more

I was in Clovis for work, and looked up aquarium stores in the surrounding area. When I looked up reviews for one of the competing stores, it was recommended to visit Seven Seas. I'm all about supporting local independent stores, and was excited to see what they had to offer. I can only attest for their saltwater fish, which all seemed to be healthy. Coral prices seemed a little high, but they did have what I was looking for. I had been looking for a green cabbage leather, and they had some super nice colonies that I liked that I'm sure they could easily frag. I left not buying anything. I spent 15-20 minutes in the store and was not greeted when I walked in, and during the time the person I can assume was the owner just kept talking person who purchased water. I walked out of the store without a word being said to me. I could have walked out with having spent at least $100+ dollars. On the plus side, they do have a great selection of protein skimmers and sumps. Salt is also very well priced and probably beats most stores and internet prices. Ultimately it comes down to customer service. I wish I could have walked out with a few coral pieces. I may have been a first time customer, but a simple check in with me, or hello could have gone a long way. read more

I have been to Seven Seas only once but I have attempted to come here twice. I have seen reviews online and I figured it would be good to help a small business out. The first time I came in he was chatting and took forever to help me get some fish I wanted. Once we got to the fish I wanted I told him I wanted a few specially picked out ones, however I didn't get one of them out of all 5 I wanted. Now I understand if you can't get all of them but I was hoping to get at least one or two that I asked for. They were well taken care of though. I came back again a few days later to get some new fish. However I was disappointed when I got there and they were closed. However it was more than 30 minutes before he was supposed to close. I was disappointed and ended up going to Pet Smart. So much for trying a new place. read more

Mark has always helped us out, got a 100g tank from him for a really good price. Always has lots of supplies in stock and if he doesnt have what your looking for he will order it and is usually in within a week. He also has good water for those of you wondering ro water usually test under 2 tds and his salt is usually around 1.024 very well priced water to half the price of someone down the street and is better. Never bought fish or coral from him but all around mark has been more than helpful. read more

Mark has the best fish store around, hands down. It is extremely unfortunate that his store burned down in the fall, but it has at least allowed him to reopen and focus solely on fish. For saltwater fish in the area, this is the place to go. I have tried fish from some other places in Fresno and in spite of meticulous care they generally experience mysterious deaths within the first week, which is a sign of poor handling and husbandry. I haven't lost any fish from Seven Seas. They all look much healthier and more vital than fish purchased elsewhere, and always acclimate well and eat within the first day. His new store is very clean and well-cared for, and the owner himself has got to be one of the nicest people I've met. He's always willing to chat about fish and to offer his considerable knowledge and experience. He is also building up his selection of corals. He has lots of nice SPS colonies available, and there are pieces to suit everyone from the budget-minded to the tank-poor spender. Whether a small frag or a melon-sized show piece, you can certainly find something here. His saltwater fish, as mentioned, are excellent. He has great prices and clearly takes good care of them. He doesn't have a ton of space to keep a lot of stock on hand, but anything desired that he doesn't have he will gladly order for you if he can. The only other saltwater place that apparently has good quality fish also has sky-high prices and a bad reputation, so I don't see a reason to buy anywhere else. And for those into freshwater, he has a great selection here too. The fish are all amazingly bright, alert, and active compared to what you'll see at, say, Whitie's. He modestly admitted that he almost never loses any of the freshwater fish, which is definitely something to be proud of. Anyone who has been to a Petsmart will have seen how many deceased platies, tetras, cichlids, and so on are usually in their tanks. Hands down, anyone who keeps fish in the area should get them here. read more

A Horrible smell of ammonia hits you when you walk in, assuming from the lack of cleaning up, after 3 large dogs & a puppy running around the store. All caged animals cages haven't been cleaned, looks to be in weeks or longer. Was greeted by the owning asking me, Whats wrong with me?! Thats is not how you talk to customers! But it was to be excepted with a store like that. Alot of products were out date, and sun bleach from being old. Absolutely DISGUSTING!!!! Don't waste your time. It will only make you feel like animal control should be called. read more

Seven Seas , unlike the other stores does not lace his salt water tanks with copper . Mark is very Helpful, after dealing with oher stores in the past , we have found Mark to be very poliet , informatible and will even help you with ordering a new tankwanna lighting and anything else you desire. His fish have always been a postive in our 150 reef. Anything we want or need he guides us in the right direction.By far His quality customer service and fish are the BEST in Clovis. The best pet store I've been to Fresno or Clovis. If you have Saltwater tanks see this guy. Beautiful and interesting selection of Saltwater anything! There are also pet rats, hamsters, turtles, and I think gerbils if I recall. I love how his pets feel well taken care of. read more

Went to buy three feeder fish today at Seven Seas. I only needed three since they were being bought as pets not food. The clerk immediately told me he could only sell me ten, since they were ten for a dollar. I said I only need three but was willing to pay the dollar for three. He said okay. Since they were going to be pets, and I was paying a 300% mark up, I ask for him to pick out three that had some nice coloring to them. He proceeded to stick the net in and grab thje first three he could, bagged them, and handed them to me. Two were all white and the third was mostly orange, even though there were many multi-colored ones in the tank. I paid my $1 and left the store very unimpressed. I realize it was a small purchase, but I was the only customer in the store, and in my opinion, 30 more seconds to pick more colorful fish would not have been to much to ask. Next time I'll go to somewhere else for my aquatic needs. read more
