I regularly shop at PetSmart for dog supplies, but until Friday, December 13, 2024, I had never tried their grooming service. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. That morning, I looked up their grooming options online and chose Nail Grind + Trim for nineteen bucks, which seemed perfect for our two beagles since they don't need haircuts. I called the provided number to book an appointment, but it turned out to be a call center--not the local store--so there was no direct connection to the grooming team to ask specific questions. I asked about the Nail Grind & Trim, but she talked me into "for only ten dollars more" it can include bath, ear cleaning, anal glads expression, pad sanitary trim. So I agreed and asked if there were any openings that day, and it was scheduled for 11:30. However when we arrived, we were informed that nail grinding (to make the nails smooth) wasn't included in the nail trimming--it was an additional charge. So, the other items added for ten dollars were not in addition; rather, it excluded one of the services that I wanted initially. That was disappointing and not mentioned during the booking call. On top of that, there was an unexpected $5 "weekend charge" for each dog. When I pointed out it was Friday--not the weekend--I was told that PetSmart considers Friday part of the weekend. This was baffling and was not disclosed when I made the appointment. One would think that since it was not disclosed during the initial booking and that I was a first-time customer, they would waive the charge. Nope! Feeling stuck, especially since we were heading out of town, I reluctantly agreed. Then came another surprise: the 11:30 "appointment" was just a drop-off time. They would call when the grooming was done, which again, was not explained when I booked. While the staff at the location were polite and professional, the lack of transparency and all the unexpected charges left a bad taste. I was so frustrated that I decided not to tip and will not return for grooming services. That said, I've always had great experiences shopping for supplies at PetSmart and will continue to do so. However, I cannot recommend their grooming services based on this experience. Transparency during booking anything is essential, and sadly, this was lacking. read more

My husband took our labordoodle for grooming to this Petsmart about a month ago. (Despite me asking him not to, because of the terrible reputation). We could tell that she had been shaved down or scraped on her back, as her hair grew out, you could tell that they had scraped her pretty hard because it was scabbing over. Today she was outside and I look at her back and it is horrible. It almost looks like the skin does not grow out anymore hair I do not I repeat I do not recommend anybody take their pets here!!!! Update. My husband had taken her to get a bath ONLY after this happened he has since taken her to the vet. It is not mange but she got a dermatitis infection from getting shaved too close to the skin. Petsmart swears up and down that they didn't shave her. The vet bill and antibiotics cost almost $300, they would not cover it but refunded the $40 we paid for the bath. Remember, you get what you pay for. Will definitely not be returning. Got a gc for Christmas and finally made my way over here. Used to live closer, but since i moved, haven't stopped by as much. Dog clothes- Super cute, they probably have the best clothes. A little pricey, but the quality is good. Dog toys- You have to really search for good deals because their toys are pricey, better toys than Petco on Ashlan n Blackstone. Petco on Herndon n Clovis has the best niche dog toys. Service- Never had an issue. Employees always willing to help. It's a pet store so my fur kids love it. I used to go do Christmas photos here because they have a Santa they actually fluff up, but I go to Arf now because they do ornaments. Dog food- We don't buy here because we buy Purina turkey and venison. Dog treats- we usually get nudges from Walmart, but we got Blue True Chews which is grillers as well. Fur kids loved it. Grooming- I have brought my terrier and they even send an after pic. He smelled like tangerines. I have however, learned how to bathe my dogs myself and get their nails clipped elsewhere. read more

The staff were all friendly and efficient. If you want anything other than a buzz cut (and a bad one at that) .... DO NOT GO HERE! We have a miniature schnauzer puppy. We were pretty specific about what we wanted; trim eyebrows, Mustache and Beard, DO NOT CUT off. Even out body (as leg hair was longer do to breeder Schnauzer cut). When we got our little guy back... we almost cried! He looked nothing like a Schnauzer. They cut all of his Schnauzer characteristics off. I was not going to leave a review because I probably should have known that PetSmart is basic, and I had heard other grooming horror stories about this place. However, I was just so disappointed that they not only did not take my request/directions into consideration but also did a horrible job at whatever it was they were trying to execute. The groomer trimmed one side of his lashes and left the other side long and his hair was all uneven and it is even more evident as it grows out. It was truly a terrible job! They left the hair long at the top of his head for some reason... making him look like a poodle. NOT CUTE at all! The groomer proceeded to say that he was so well behaved and easy to groom so I have to presume she just didn't know what she was doing. We will not bring our Mini Schnauzer here again. read more

We scheduled a grooming and hair cut for our Great Pyrenees. she has gone there countless times and it's always been great until today. 1) they called us to come in early because they had cancellations 2) they refused to do her haircut because with an eye roll did not have time. 3) called us after we dropped her off to come get her because they just did not have time. mind you we scheduled an appointment. I can't remember how many times I had an appointment and arrived to wait outside in line because they only allow one dog inside to check in at a time. Yet now, traffic was bad and I arrived late and they can't accommodate me?! The smirky gal who answered my call laughed when I told her it was my pups birthday so I wanted to gussy her up with a fresh look. Guardians of the Goldfish I could probably write an essay about this experience but I'm trying to condense it. PetSmart would not let us buy 5 goldfish. They asked if they were feeders or pets. Since they were pets, they could not sell them to me because I had picked out the wrong aquarium with out a filter (initially). Then the reason we couldn't buy them became the size of the tank. The tank was 9inLx 6 inWx 6.5inH. (For 5 of the small goldfish). I tell the gal, then I'll put them in my horse trough. She still tells me she won't sell them to me. I asked to speak to the store manager and the girl said "gladly". When the SM came up I told him what was going on and the first thing he told me was, "your story keeps changing, so we think you're lying". He finally says he will sell them because they're supposedly going in horse troughs. I was so adjetated by the experience I just left. When I told my husband why we came home with no fish, he decided we needed to go back to the store. When I came back the manager denied calling me a liar. We went round and around with the guy. He said it was no quality of life to have them in a small aquarium (it wasn't small). Let me mention they sell small fish bowls. Petsmarts fish were packed on top of each other in their aquariums. We even asked for their policy stating we needed a bigger tank and after 10 minutes of being in his office to get the policy he comes out & says it's "confidential ". Sounds like BS. They have Bettas in tiny containers. They had dead goldfish in the bottom of their tanks. They sell fish to be "feeders" meaning they are eaten alive. That doesn't sound like a "Quality life" to me. Who wants to be eaten alive? They acted like we wanted to torture these fish. The fish would have had a better quality of life in our tank than in theirs. The whole experience was mind boggling. While talking to the store manager, never once did I hear the gal ask other customers what size their tank was and on their corporate website is a picture of a little girl blowing kisses to guppy fish in a SMALL BOWL WITH NO FILTER. best petsmart in area. well stocked, clean & organized. customer service is always helpful & friendly - if you need help there's always someone around to help, you don't need to go searching someone down in different pet departments. the fish, bird, reptile live animal section is well kept. they have a great selection of aquarium & terrarium tanks. some of the equipment is a little more pricey than other pet stores nearby BUT this petsmart will price match no problem, just show them competitor's price & they will ask manager for go ahead. this particular visit, we were stocking up on dog treats but also looking for specific aquarium items & nolan was very helpful, knowledgeable & found everything we needed. i hope this petsmart stays this way! if i could rate a 10 star, i would! read more

I'm very sad about this one, because my cocker spaniel puppy really loved going to see Karina. Yesterday, our favorite groomer called to say that she was going to have an assessment on a breed and she thought of my dog. If I could bring him in I'd get a 15% discount. He had been groomed 4 weeks prior so it wasn't really time, but I would do it. We got out of the house early, drove 15 minutes and upon check in, they advised me that there would be an additional fee because he "wiggles" when his nails are cut. This had never happened before and totally took me by surprise! The lady checking us in said that if he didn't wiggle they'd take the charge off at the register. The head groomer (who never smiles) said curtly " no we won't". The whole exchange caught me off guard. I explained that we'd come in specifically for Karina's assessment. The "wiggle fee" was more than the discount I'd been offered! I've always tipped Karia and found her to be very sweet. Sadly they lost a loyal and happy customer. Had a grooming appointment today at 12:30 and was running late. I called and was told they would wait 15 minutes but later would back her up too far. I got there right at 1245. And stood there waiting while another person was being helped. A young woman with long gray hair and tattoos said someone would be with me shortly. As I waited I heard someone over the intercom call a manager to the grooming department and the grey haired woman left. A young woman with long pink braids came in and told me I was too late. When I tried to explain, she cut me off and said I was too late and the technician said she couldn't take my dog. I told her I was a regular customer and had been standing her waiting for 5 minutes or so but got no sympathy from her and the groomer never came out of the back to talk to me face to face. I know I was late but arrived in the time given over the phone. The manager talked to me from across the room and would not look at me in the eye as she talked to me. Have always been treated well here before but had never seen the employees working here before. Maybe COVID 19 has them stressed. As I said, I was late but it sure seemed like I was being punished for not getting there on time even though I called and was told to come on in. Felt like as a long term customer, my business wasn't very appreciated. Will be finding a new place for my two dogs to be groomed. Telling me to just reschedule would have been the professional thing to do and would have been justified. All the other stuff just makes it personal and the loss of business is theirs. I had an appointment for the 24. It was canceled for whatever reason, something about the groomer not being there and that was fine. Now, my next appointment was for the 28, I try to get my dog groomed monthly on top of me taking care of him at home so he was due already. The lady on the phone said 8:30. Perfect that will work for me. Day of the 28th, the doors are closed before 9am so I was outside for a bit, I called and they said there was a bell outside for people with appointments. Nice, right? I got in it was fine. I stood in the salon dep. for 10 damn minutes. No one came to see me or help me. I checked my email and the email said 1:30pm so I assumed I heard her wrong and I left. I was on the freeway at this point, thinking I'd just come back later but then they called, lady on the phone said I was 30minutes late and that she was going to cancel the appointment. I explained everything to her, I wasn't far and that I could turn around but she made no exceptions. Like maybe I'm wrong for being upset but you guys canceled my appointment already before. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE FOR GROOMING! I brought my dog in because she was severely matted. Usually, I would book with Felicia but this time I booked with another groomer (I forgot her name). She felt her all about to go over what and how much she would need to shave off and I knew that would have to be pretty much everything because of how matted she was. She took her back and when she was ready to be picked up my husband went to get her. The groomer said that she did really well but did not like the trimming around the face. When they got home, I had a completely different dog. She did not eat or drink on her own, we all had to hand feed her and put the water bowl near her. She had multiple accident all around the house and on the couch. She would not want to be around us and she was not her playful self. I sound like I am exaggerating when I say this but it was as if her soul was gone. I called the store to speak with the manager, Evan, who said that there was nothing documented of an incident that may have occurred during the appointment. He spoke with the grooming manager Tanya who also got on the phone and said that nothing was written down and that the groomer wasn't in but will follow up the next day, which never happened. Evan said that he would get back to me after doing some investigating and never did. A few days passed and I called again and spoke with Kevin, the assistant manager. He seemed to care more than Evan to be honest. Kevin said that he didn't hear anything about it and will follow up with Evan to make sure he called me back. Saturday came around and Evan called just to say that he isn't sure why my dog was behaving that way and that the groomer is a dog lover and rescues dogs off the street. He even said that ALLEGEDLY he watched the video and didn't see anything on there. He said that my dog laid down when they put her on the floor upon arrival and on the counter, that was false because she walked towards me and did not lay down once. He didn't care to help with my dog at all so I asked to see the video and he said that he would have to reach out to his district manager to get it....Didn't he say that he already watched it? Evan did not care one bit about what happened to my sweet girl and didn't care to help fix the situation. They do not care about your pets here! read more

This store, while the parking lot can be a challenge (for cars, but especially avoiding getting hit while walking to the store) the customer service has been amazing. Adopting a new puppy I was a little overwhelmed but they provided a book full of coupons for supplies and for services. Knowing I needed to definitely enroll my pup in classes, they were super helpful to walk me through the process of signing up. The classes themselves have been so helpful! The trainer is so patient (not only with our pups, but with us humans too, haha... sometimes I feel the class is more for us anyways). I can't wait to enroll In the intermediate class. This PetSmart is decent never had a problem till today. We went to return a female that didn't get along with my others. They started talking shit on my tank and my betta sorority. I've studied bettas for years and did not appreciate it. They definitely need to learn more before hanging up on one person and start talking crap. 3 against 1 is not cool. Have your employees know more before they decide they are the smartest. Btw my tank is full of plants and hides for plenty territory. The grooming department is wonderful here. Every time I go in the staff is extremely courteous both in person or when calling in. The cuts are always great and if there is ever something I want done differently or changed, all I have to do is ask nicely and they take care of it immediately. The employees are very friendly and you can see the joy they have in their jobs and the care they have in our furry companions while they work on them. If you're looking for a new place to bring your furry friends for a trim, I would definitely recommend here. The entire store is kind and courteous as well whenever I visit for other supplies, or when I got a couple guinea pigs to increase the size of my family.
