While this place isn't cheap--I suspect very few vets are what we'd call "affordable," I've always appreciated how loving all staff are towards any pet we've brought in--whether they were easy to handle or a bit spicy. I appreciate that price estimates are offered on a scale of "low" and "high" estimates-accounting for different contingencies that might change how much any treatment or procedure might cost. I also appreciate that they offer different forms of pet insurance. This is not something I've looked into, but I am considering it. I can't speak to the dog side of things, but I'm grateful to find a place that doesn't return traumatized cats to me. While they will take a pet back without you for a quick vaccination or procedure, they almost always allow you to be present with your pet if you prefer that. As for specific staff, there isn't anyone that we request or would recommend....because everyone that we've worked with has shown this same level of kindness and compassion. During our time with this location, we have lost a few of our fur babies, including one to an aggressive form of cancer. While this broke our hearts, as we consider pets to be family, I am grateful for the staff who made our pet comfortable and gave us the space and time to say goodbye and to be with our pet until they crossed the rainbow bridge. The only negative that I have for this vet is that they are not open on the weekends or evenings, which means that I need to take time off work in order to schedule an appointment for my pets. This has on occasion resulted in a delay in their routine care, especially when work is busy and I can't get away during normal business hours. I understand that keeping the office staffed and opened extended hours is a business decision and has costs that may not justify such a change, but it sure would make this clinic more accessible for their customers.

It wasn't busy. I walked out of an office ready to pay. Stood where I thought would get service. She showed us simple, practical techniques--starting with how to properly leave the house and how to consistently correct pulling during walks. She also walked alongside us and provided real-time feedback, which was incredibly helpful. Everything she taught was easy to follow and actually works. You can tell she really knows what she's doing and cares about setting both the dog and owners up for success. Highly recommend Maddie if you're struggling with leash training or just want better structure on walks.

I came across Maddie and thought I've give her a shot. I am not too fond of going to someone's house and I thought I would give it a shot. I am glad I did. She was very nice, very fast, and very understanding. Not to mention, she is fairly priced compared to other places, especially the place i've already stated for a piss poor job. All in all, I found my new place to take my 5lb dog! See you soon Maddie! Barking Beauties, take a hike!

Jordin was in the midst of a busy Spring as things were changing quickly, but she made the time and effort to get in touch, set up a meet and greet, and start cat sitting for me. I've been using her services ever since then. Jordin is super communicative and easy to work with. She has an app for contact which is great, it means all of our conversations, scheduling, invoices, etc are all in one place and there's never any confusion. I like that I can view her calendar and see which dates are available before I send a request, and double-check if I already booked ahead for any trips. She also posts updates any time they will be closed or busy holiday weekends are coming up. Her prices are reasonable, similar to what I was paying the previous sitters. Jordin's very sweet with the cats, diligent about bringing in mail, emptying the litter tray, feeding the girls and all of that. She has always followed our instructions and communicates any problems. She sends a little report at the end of each visit with photos, which is always a nice touch. I highly recommend their services.

Ryker Dog Training

Ryker Dog Training

We recently enrolled our dog in the Ruff Edges Program and I want to share our experience for other…read moredog owners who may be considering this program. For dogs dealing with fear and anxiety, they use extremely intense correction methods. We were initially open to these tools, but things went downhill very quickly. Day one involved towel rolls being thrown at our dog, loud air-canister interruptions, and immediate use of a prong collar. Rather than working at our dog's pace, trainer Mel dragged him along on the prong collar until he submitted. This is not an exaggeration, he was physically dragged while thrashing and panicking. It was shocking and honestly heartbreaking to witness. Right after this forced submission, she handed him to my fiancé, and shortly after our dog jumped up and bit him on the arm. For context: he is five years old and has never bitten anyone in his life. It was devastating. Dogs give plenty of warning signs before a bite (growling, lip raises, body posture) but all of those signals were suppressed as he was forced into submission. In his mind, the only option left was to bite to escape the fear. After the bite we were told, "Oh yeah, that can happen sometimes," and that if it happens again we should "hang him by the prong collar until he sees Jesus." Honestly, we should have walked out immediately, but we trusted the 'professional' and assumed this program was designed for dogs like ours, so it must work. The bite happened again at the next session, totaling three bites under Mel's supervision. We never "hung" our dog by the prong because that is abuse, plain and simple. Meanwhile, his anxiety skyrocketed. He began howling, shaking, and crying at any attempt to get in the car. He even bolted out the front door to avoid going, behaviors we had never seen before this program. By week three, our dog was losing trust in us. He stopped cuddling (which is completely unlike him), avoided closeness, and generally shut down. Heartbreaking, to say the least. After experiencing this firsthand, I truly believe these methods do nothing but force a dog into submission (when they "work") and when they don't, they create dangerous behavioral fallout. The techniques used here are unnecessarily harsh, rooted in impatience, and a blatant lack of respect for the animal. They claim the program is tailored to your dog, but when the methods failed, the only advice was to correct harder: hang him, use an e-collar, throw the towel harder. No alternatives, no adjustments, no real understanding of his behavior. That is not tailoring, that is pushing until the dog breaks. In researching modern training science, I've learned there is simply no justification for these outdated methods. They ignore what we now know about canine behavior and emotional wellbeing. These techniques appeal to owners who want fast control, not true behavior change. I love my dog. After this experience, I'm choosing the slow road, the one that builds trust, not fear. I don't want a dog who obeys because his spirit is broken. I want a companion. If you're considering the Ruff Edges Program, please understand the risks and research these methods thoroughly. I wish we had, and I regret staying as long as we did. "The dominance remedy is so out of proportion that entire schools of training are based on the premise that if you can just exert adequate dominance over the dog, everything else will fall into place. Not only does it mean that incredible amounts of abuse are going to be perpetrated against any given dog, probably exacerbating problems like unreliable recalls and biting, but the real issues, like well-executed conditioning and the provision of an adequate environment, are going to go unaddressed, resulting in a still-untrained dog, perpetuating the pointless dominance program." -- Excerpt from The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson.
