My senior dog, Ted hasn't been professionally groomed for several years. The staff here at PetSmart in Clovis (the one on Shaw Ave.) did an exemplary job of soothing him (and me). Tania checked him in and explained how they would take care of him, she was friendly, professional and reassuring, even though they were very busy.The facility was clean and smelled great. I was delighted with the results, especially the smooth, short nails. I would mention the groomers name, unfortunately I didn't write it down, yet my sense is that all the staff are top quality. So far everything about the business has been good. Grooming has been a joyful experience with Julie, my pet's favorite groomer. The pet hotel has been a pleasant experience. Staff is friendly, I would not recommend the training. It's a total waste of time. All you do is sit there with your dog and get to hear how the trainer works with their dogs. I am too old to pay someone to train my dog, and listen to them for an hour with zero results. My dog remains the same as it was before the training. A total waste of time and money. The trainer seems to have preferences and gives a lot of attention to the other dog in the training, giving it treats and actively ignoring my dog. Do not waste your time and money. read more

Very disappointing experience. This was my cat Raymond's first grooming, and they did a poor job shaving him (see photo)--uneven and careless. Worse, he had an accident in his crate on the way there, and they put him back in it without cleaning it, so he came home covered in urine. If I could give zero stars, I would. Took my puppy there at 6 months and we had a satisfied experience, so we started having 5-6weeks regular grooming (I have a maltipoo and they are high maintenance ). The next two visits were also okay, however I noticed an abrupt change of their attitudes and grooming after we seem to be consistent customers. In one occasion, they told us they "couldn't finish the hair cut because he was too matted" so then I decided to take him home and combed him daily. When I took him back the following week- they said the same thing. I figured he must be really matted and agreed for them to shave him (from not knowing better) . My husband picked him up and was told that they cut both his ears, it was bleeding. It was the WORST experience ever. The groomer didn't come out to talk or speak with my husband, it was through another person. Where was the apology? They blamed MY dog for moving. My dog came home and didn't eat for 4 days. I never went back, I go to a different groomer now and never had ANY issues with the new groomer. I combed my dog just the same (at least 2-3 times a week) and have never been told by my new groomer in one year that he needs to be shaved like PET SMART. I also realize that my dog is so much happier when I pick him up from the new groomer as oppose to Pet Smart. Not to mention their front desk staff have horrible and condescending attitudes. Only one out of every 3 interactions was the front desk person hospitable. Seriously, will NEVER EVER return here. read more

Stop! Don't leave your pets at their hotel or grooming! We left our lab and Shitzu for one night plus bath and trim. The staff were extremely rude, but that I can handle. But BOTH dogs came home sick. The lab nails were trimmed to the quick. He's limping and crying. He also threw up. The Shitzu has had nonstop diarrhea from the minute we came home. We have taken them both here several times but something wasn't right from when we dropped them off. The staff has changed and the groomers are not the same ones. The hotel area was filthy with dog pee in several spots. I love my babies and they are under vet care. Beware.... read more

Customer Service is not good. I had an item in the "reduced price" bin and asked for a price check. The price check came back at full price from the cashier. When I inquired about it being in the "reduced-price" bin (Item was opened and out of the box), the manager, Alicia, was called to the cashier's desk. Alicia did not make any eye contact, didn't even acknowledge me. When I told her I found this in the "reduced price" bin, she said, "It wasn't supposed to be there," and walked away. I was told there was a groomer at this location who was excellent with Yorkies. That is an understatement! Jonathon was the groomer who I took our parti yorkie to and he was beyond excellent. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted then proceeded to explain everything about the process. He owns a yorkie and knew precisely how we wanted our puppy groomed. She had a few small mats and he was able to detangle them without shaving them nor hurting her by pulling too hard. Our puppy looks adorable and exactly how we were hoping. We're in today with our pooch for a grooming ,I know their busy but the grooming shop is filthy and this is out front what do the holding kennels look like afraid to ask. And as you you approach the outer front doors of the the store their is an area for the dogs to do their business looked and smelled like it it not been cleaned in several days. The shelves are cluttered with other products so of course they can't be ordered! This has been going on for 2 weeks and shelf is still cluttered with other products and not ordered! For the pet hotel- I strongly dislike boarding our little guy (14 LB, nine(ish) year old, adopted terrier mix) because he has historically not done well in a boarding setting (eg, stops eating, shakes on the way and once we pick him up, plus he has gotten sick despite being fully vaccinated). We have family friends who often watch him and, if not, a lovely, retired woman in our neighborhood who treats him like her own- including letting him sleep in her bed. Unfortunately though, sometimes the stars do not align and we have to board him. The past three experiences with an allegedly highly rated, premier boarding institution have been horrid (see above) so that was basically out of the question. Enter the Pet Hotel! I have always been impressed by the looks of the exterior and what I could see of the interior. Also seeing the dogs in the play area being interacted with is great. Pet Smart was amazing about accommodating our little guy's feeding schedule (he is a grazer so he needs his food left out all the time) and was super happy to have me just provide a bag of food and tell them how much to give him. The other place forces you to make and label each bag of food for each day. Also, I was nervous so I went by the hotel the day before and asked a bunch of questions- the kennels are private and climate controlled . There is staff in site 24/7. They have a clear schedule of activities available , and you can actually see them doing the activities when you drop by. I felt very confident leaving our dog. Nevertheless, I called to check on him mid-week. They were super happy to answer my call and even checked his chart. They had reports about food, potty, and play time. I really appreciated this! When we called to arrange to pick him up, they were super helpful also- we had scheduled a bath and groom and they found out exactly when he would be back. When my husband picked him up her was super happy to be reunited, but he was not shaking and did not seem scared. He appears happy and healthy and has not experienced any of the negative effects I have seen after previous boarding experiences (eg on edge, shaky, timid, or ill). His groom looks really good too! Yes! They had just what I was looking for...a new collar for my mini schnauzer. I wanted a specific one to match her leash. I was happy to see that they still carried the same design three years later! Also got a new tag to engrave with phone numbers for her. Quick in and out on my lunch hour. It only took a couple minutes to engrave the tag. Nice girl at the checkout counter. Want a cat? There were three grown up kitties napping in their cages at the front of the store. Yesterday, I picked up my dog Rosie from a 10 day stay at PetSmart hotel and grooming in Clovis. During our trip we got 3 calls from these folks 1. Worried about dog throwing up and taking her to their contract Vet. 2. Question about medication we left 3. Grooming double checking our orders. They handled my dogs issues very well. They took my dog to Vet (not the in-house one) for exam and a shot for less than $180. When I checked out the hotel desk person searched discounts they could apply and saved me $100. The groomers brought my dog back after grooming and they helped me with my over excited dog. I thought they provided me good service at a fair price. All with a smile. Great job folks. I have not used their grooming service or their pet hotel so I can't base my review off of that. Today I brought my dog for his check up, but unfortunate the long waiting and the poor customer service maybe feel that I don't want to come back to this location. I agree to wait for the work blood test buy my dog couldn't wait, it was already more than 20 minutes and that suppose to be the total waiting time. My dog started to pee inside the store so I had to leave but I come back and still no results, front desk lady said because I leave the store I have to wait again, now I'm more frustrated. The front desk girl that checked in my dog was unkind with a long unwelcome face, it rally frustrates me even more, so I decide to leave again, on top of that I was told that I have to wait another hour!! I'll not wait for another hour so called the manager Tracy, I explained to her the situation. She help me with the results right away and went through the results in detail explaining to me couple things to consider about my dog's health. I really appreciate her care and time, she went beyond my expectations, she had the doctor right there telling her what to do in terms of diet and more care for my dog. This review is for the Pets Hotel. My pup has stayed there before and we had a nice experience the last time but it's gone significantly downhill since. Now let me start by saying I don't love using Petsmart hotels because they breed discriminate but they are convenient and he was fine last time so we gave it a go. When we arrived the lady wasn't very friendly and gave us the rundown. We handed her a tote bag with a toy, a blanket, and pre-portioned food and left. Whatever, not everyone is happy all the time. The next day she calls at 2pm and asks us if we brought our dogs food saying she couldn't find it? Like had he not eaten breakfast at 2pm?? How do you lose his food?? The day of checkout my roommate went to pick him up and the same lady stated we didn't put him on the agreement when I CLEARLY put him as the pickup person. She tried to argue with my roommate too. Then she made my roommate pay even though I asked twice for a promissory agreement at check in, which she said at the time my roommate would have to fill out during pick up, exactly like last time. I would have payed at check in but I was planning on using a free night coupon that is sitting in my car now. All in all terrible customer service. Not sure I'll rebook. read more

I have been here many times. I've used the boarding hotel and they have always been awesome. Samantha used to be my dog groomer and she was awesome. Unfortunately she doesn't groom anymore. Today I had Ashley. She said she's been grooming for 2 years but a kindergartener could have done better. Jason, the shift leader was obnoxious and hateful from the onset. He said I could agree to the way they were going to scalp my dog or I could go somewhere else. Its 100 miles to this dog groomer. I don't live close. I would have driven a long way for nothing so I had to agree to let Ashley scalp my dog. I was furious and will never go to this store again. read more

Petsmart is one of my favorite stores. I literally spend almost my whole check in there sometimes. I really hated my last visit. I was doing a return and because my girlfriend was not with me and we used her card the store manager Evan would not give me my refund. I was unaware that Petsmart keeps track of there customers by there credit card number? I thought creating a petsmart membership was to keep track of customers purchases and returns and rewards points. Why cant I do a return if I dont have the same credit card used. My girlfriend bought it for me but I used my membership account incase I needed to return it. I had her send me a picture of her credit card to verify it was the same one he stated " why would I allow you to do that" I said because I don't drive around with her card in my wallet and I would have to drive to pick her up but he did not care so that's what i did. I drove all the way back across town and picked her up. I was too mad to go back inside with her to return it but yeah I dont like feeling like Im not appriciated especially considering how much time I spend in there. I have been taking my dog to Petsmart since September 2018. I love the Grooming dept at this location! Number 1 thing is it feels like they care about my pet- in a way that's personal, yet with professional consideration for me. I have found most of the staff to be helpful, considerate, communicative and compassionate. My pet is always groomed well - based on my requested services, not cuts or anything like that and if the groomer noticed anything that I should know - they talk with me about it. The dept itself is clean and professionally presented. I really appreciate the 2 benches by the dept so you can wait with your pet, which is particularly helpful when it is busy. I made an appointment online to get my dog son, Dude a bath, his nails trimmed and his teeth brushed. The appointment was with Sydney. When I arrived, Sydney was super friendly and great with Dude. Dude has separation anxiety and so do I, but Sydney was able to comfort him. She took him to the back and put him in his own kennel since he doesn't like big dogs. Hell, he is even picky with small dogs. She told me the turn around time could be 3-4 hours which was going to be inconvenient since we did make an appointment for a certain time and we take Dude to the park at 6. However, she called us within 2 hours and let us know he was good to go. She left us notes saying he was a very good boy! He also smelled amazing!! I will definitely book with Sydney again, but probably earlier in the day since the turn around time is kind of long. read more

First I was so dissatisfied with their grooming services, but I just gave them a chance....but this time it's the Banfield. First incident happend in January 2015.....it wasnt my dog's first time to get shave groomed...it was her 3rd time to be shave groomed....when we came home from d groomers on that particular day, my dog, behaved so different. I thought she was accidentally switched with another dog. She did not respond to any of my commands, she couldnt sit, she couldnt lay down, she didnt want to sleep in her crate (which is pretty much her room..she sleeps in there like it was her room). I called the Petsmart Store Manager and complaint about this issue. He was so lazy. He said he was gonna pull up the Grooming Manager's files. BUT NO! He transfered me to Grooming Services and the front desk picked up. I said, "I was actually talking to the store manager, he said he was gnna pull up d grooming managers files, and put me on hold" ...im upset how with how the manager handled the situation. It would have been better if he resolved this problem himself and not pass it down. I spoke to the grooming manager and explained to me that my dog maybe just reacting to her new haircut, and might be upset with it. I dont think so, i dont think dogs have self esteem. They are smart but dont make connections and logics like humans... ....she said she will have to look at the videos for that day when my dog got groomed....i was told that she will check d videos on her break which is around 3 hrs from what time i called (clearly they dont prioritize u!!!). After speaking to her, i knew it was going no where, so i let it go. But let me tell you! I had to retrain my dog how to sit, lay down, and sleep in her crate again. She couldnt lay down for about a week and a half after she got groomed! I was gnna get her anal glands checked if she ddnt get better in 2 weeks...d grooming manager said she was gnna forward my dog's file to their vet in banfield so they can explain to me nothing medically is wrong with my dog (BS!!)...i ddnt get her checked. I just observed her and retrained...took a week and a half for her to be able to laydown again without actually putting her into lay down position. Second upset-owner incident happend in Feburary 2015 with my other dog. I dropped him off in the morning for his comprehensive exam. In the paper that i filled out, i crossed the portion that says "Concerns".....i marked the "skin mass / lession" You would think that they will search the dog for a mass on skin since you indicated it on d paper you had filled out..... But guess what!!!! When they called me that my dog is ready to be picked up, i asked if they checked the unusual dark spot on his belly, towards d left. Lady on d fone said, no, but she can have it checked and when i get there, can explain to me whatever it is. So me n my husband got there....and guess what again! ...nobody on d front desk! My husband was standing there for about 10 mins.....nobody was coming so i decided to get things i need while husband waits......i alrdy grabbed a huge bag of dog food, walked out and in, to grab shopping cart.... while my husband waited for person on desk...i got back, and nobody has helped him yet!!!...we waited for a couple more mins...finally front desk person was called to come out by another banfield worker. I had a meeting to go to, so i was in a hurry. I WAS NOT EXPLAINED ABOUT MY DOG'S MASS ON HIS BELLY LIKE I WAS TOLD ON D PHONE!!!! I ddnt bother asking since it will take more time getting that checked...i was in a hurry. Also, doggiee was there in d vet for about 5 hours. When we came home, my dog went straight to the big water bowl that he shares with my other doggy. It had about half an inch-much water in it. He finished all of it to himself and wanted more water. My suspicion was that he was not given anything to drink while he wss there for 5 hours! :(:(:( read more

When I picked her up she had poop all down her rear & her leg. She was soaking wet and pretty shook up. Staff was rude and had minimal explanation. It was a literal shit show. We have used grooming services at this location multiple times. Our dog has somehow gotten two files and they refuse to delete the second file which throws off his shot records and also causes issues booking grooming online. We could deal with that and have for some time, however, today we had an appointment and this is absolute last time we are using their services. My husband got there for our dog's appointment and they turned him away saying that they called him earlier to cancel due to the dog being "difficult" in the secondary file. This apparently means they can't have two groomers work with him due to COVID restrictions. Firstly, he has never been difficult and we have never been told that. Secondly, when my husband checked his phone they had called only 10 minutes prior to his appointment! How is that ample notification? It's not. Why were we even allowed to book the appointment two weeks ahead of time if this was the case? We shouldn't have been able to. They offered a discount for AFTER that the COVID restrictions are over which isn't useful since he needs to be groomed now. We are done dealing with this inept location which is complete waste of time for how much trouble it is to book a simple grooming appointment for a dog. The poorest customer service possible was provided to us and they should not be notifying customers 10 minutes prior to an appointment that it is canceled or even allowing booking if they have new policies in place. read more

This review is for the pets hotel. I absolutely love boarding my baby girl here. She comes home exhausted from all the fun. The hotel service is 5 stars!!! The 3 stars is for the call center/ online booking. When I book it allows me to put a time of pick up. Apparently after 12pm there is an $18 fee which was not stated online. Apparently it's on the paper that we sign at drop off but I don't remember seeing or being told that. However if there's an $18 fee automatically added then the online booking should be able to add that to the quote or at least warn the customer. read more

Worst place to trust your fur baby to stay for a day of play time. He was scheduled to be in the play area with a noon appointment for grooming. To my disbelief, around 3pm I get called that he is throwing up and has diarrhea, so they could not groom him. Which is understandable, but who waits 3 hours to let us know our young pup is sick??? Beware, he went in happy and the only difference in his diet was the ice cream they fed him. When asked about their ice cream we learned it is made in store, and who knows the storage conditions. Their answer was, well we only fed him what you order. Did they somehow forget we expected him not to get spoiled ice cream and they made it? Needless to say my pup walked away from the store with uncontrollable diarrhea and was no longer himself for the day. As a courtesy, PetSmart should add a policy to immediately notify parents about their pup being sick and stop offering bad food. read more

I have been coming to this store for years and they have provided us with food, doggie day care, and the doggie hotel. So far they are very professional, make sure that my dog is up on his shots and meds before his stays and check in on what I want them to do with him... and they provide progress reports! Love that. With full intentions on buying a collar and leaving, I always seem to find myself forced to stay longer because there's just so much to look at! Seeing customers walk in with their pets, and looking at those in the pet care area and grooming center just capture me and have me sitting in awe. I love pets so very much and am happy when I see people taking good care of them. Of course, it's easy to tell when they spoil their pet as well. The store itself was well kept and offers many services for your pets including a day care, grooming center and even medical center. My only complaint is never really being offered any help by the employees. That's fine since I knew what I wanted.
