I just finished 2 of 4 sessions so far with Emily Scott, and I could not be more happy with the…read moreresults. Some background about my dog: We rescued a female 3-year-old German Shepherd mix 5 months ago. She was driving us absolutely insane. She is: - Very pushy and demanding for attention. To get our attention, she'd nip at us, paw at us, gnaw at our hips, and even hump us. - Bad house manners: She'd get into mischief like pulling on cords, digging in plants, and chewing her bed apart. - Jumps on counters, tables, and people. - Very mouthy. - Territorial barking. - Reactive on leash. Barks, lunges, growls and whines at other dogs when we're on a walk. - Overall bad at leash walking. Pulls, plays tug with her leash, crosses us, jumps over bushes. - She can't just RELAX. Always looking at us for the next activity (even if we've walked for an hour). Follows us around everywhere. - Under-socialized. She loves dogs but has absolutely no etiquette (will not respond to other dogs' corrections). Why I highly recommend Emily Scott: - Before finding Emily, I was talking to another trainer here in Fresno area who had a 5-star rating on Yelp(!!), and let me tell you: Emily Scott is LIGHT YEARS ahead of this other positive reinforcement trainer. After an initial consultation, this other trainer told me my dog just needs to do her basic obedience training program. What?! Look at my list up there! My dog needs way more than basic obedience. With Emily Scott, we're doing her "Advanced Obedience Training Program for Pushy and Adolescent Dogs" which addresses all the issues I identified up there. After talking to other dog owners in Fresno who have done professional training, I truly believe Emily Scott is the best positive reinforcement dog trainer in Central Valley. She is probably one of the best in California! My Bay Area friends haven't seen the same level of success with their dogs. - Emily Scott will meet you where you're at in your training and not waste your time. I've spent countless hours researching positive reinforcement techniques for every issue: Zak George. Kikopup. Relaxation protocol. Positive reinforcement Facebook groups and subreddits. Before Emily, we already successfully implemented a lot of basic obedience (sit, down, come, look at me, place, calm settle). I feel like I knew a lot already, but I was at a point where I was overwhelmed by all the information: what to prioritize? how do I know if it's working? when do I try something else? Emily Scott recognizes and respects what we've tried, explains why some things weren't working for us, gave us new strategies, with clear demonstrations, and truly put us on track for faster results. My dog has improved SO quickly in so many ways, and it is completely thanks to what we've learned from Emily. If my review hasn't convinced you to hire Emily Scott, please check out her Instagram (@escottk9s) where she posts about other dogs & dog owners she's helped.

The only part he couldn't complete was staying alone for 3 minutes with the evaluator--which, from my understanding, can be waived since he's my service dog. Then she claimed he failed three portions, which was simply not true. I was so upset I asked her to redo the test. She ran through everything on camera again, and he did great. Then she brought out another dog and started clicking while bringing it over--something no trainer should do. My dog gave a subtle growl but stayed in place. She jumped on that, said he failed, refused to continue the evaluation, and tried to push me into training with her. What a crook. If you use her, I promise issues will come up eventually. I paid $75 for that evaluation, and my dog passed the test with flying colors. WHAT A CROOK! FKIN SCAMMER. I thought I replied to her comment, but I sent her a message directly, so I am sharing with you what I said to her. Please work to uphold the integrity of the business: She contradicted herself, calling my dog sweet while claiming "aggression" was the issue. He passed every requirement except the 3-minute stay, which she refused to complete. Yes, he whined, but the entire interaction felt off from the start. Thank you for the refund, but it was well deserved. The whole process was shady--you were clearly ready to fail him. Completely inappropriate.

If I could give her 10 stars I definitely would. I got photos texted to me of my baby Margo in the snow and playing by the creek. Betty Jo took also took her out on multiple walks. Margo also enjoyed a trip to the local pet shop, Tailwaggers! I picked my baby up around 4pm and judging from how tired and mellow she was when I arrived, it was clear that she had an amazing time in Betty Jo's care. This was my first time bringing my pup to mammoth with me. I almost didn't bring her just because I wasn't sure how to arrange for her to be cared for while I hit the slopes. But Having found Betty Jo really put me at ease and now I look forward to planning the next trip up to mammoth with my pup!

We loved getting updates and pictures throughout the day and knew RoRo had a great time with Betty Jo from how relaxed and happy she was when we picked her up. On her second day, RoRo went running to Betty Jo with tail wagging like she was a beloved family member and had a great time hanging out with her new buddy Echo. We are so happy to have a wonderful place to leave our baby girl when visiting Mammoth.

I just picked up my 6 month old pup from his 2 day stay at Elaine's! He has never been away from me…read moreovernight since he was 8 weeks old. I was nervous that he was not going to adjust well, but according to staff he loved it and did very good. The main reason I chose to go with Elaine's was because of all the good recommendations from past employees (current co workers). I was nervous, I called a total of 3 times in 2 days. I spoke with Hannah and Jayna, they were both very nice and answered all my questions. Neither of them made me feel crazy for being an overbearing mother. Theodore had a blast! Because he is 6 months old and not neutered, he did not get any play time with other pups, even though he's been allowed at puppy playgroup with Emily. That made me a little sad for him because he loves playing with other dogs!!! But hopefully next time he goes he'll be fixed and allowed to play with other dogs. Besides that he did get one on one puppy play time and 3 walks. His feeding schedule at home is opposite of their feeding schedule by a few hours. They give the first meal around 6:30am and the last one is approximately 6pm (I believe). We were able to get him Back on his normal schedule pretty quickly. The vaccines required for boarding are 5-in-1, bordetella, influenza, and rabies. I planned for him to be very social so the vaccines weren't an issue at all. Overall I would recommend Elaine's and I'm sure Theodore will be back in the future.

The dogs are frequently left barking for long periods of time, both during the day and throughout the night. Dogs being boarded can obviously become anxious or vocal, but hearing them continuously barking for hours at a time makes it seem like they are not being given enough attention, comfort, exercise, or supervision. It is especially concerning when this continues late into the night. As someone who lives nearby, it is difficult to hear dogs repeatedly distressed and barking for such extended periods without anyone seemingly addressing it. A boarding facility should be attentive to the dogs in its care and make an effort to ensure they are comfortable, properly supervised, and not left in a prolonged state of distress. I hope the owners take this seriously and reevaluate how the dogs are being supervised and cared for while staying at their facility.
