The woman with short dark hair Armenian was really rude on the phone today. She kept yelling and barked at me to tell her what time id pick up my food. Lady calm down...im only five minutes away. The way she rushed me off the phone you would think there would of been a huge line inside. There wasn't. Although there was a Armenian man who the lady didn't seem to rush. She barely thanked me. Didn't look me im my eyes. Smile . She didn't even let me know the straws were in some weird container on the side of the wall with other utensils. But she seemed to be able to communicate with the armenian gentleman just fine. Rude unprofessional bitch. Hire a better cashier. Someone pretty young and perky. The chicken, the moutabal and the garlic sauce are definitely the biggest stars at this place (other than the nice lady that works there too!). I was always a Zankou fan but my boyfriend isn't into it, so we had to figure out how to fix my cravings without making him miserable. He suggested trying out this place around the corner from his house and I was kind of skeptical but was willing to give it a try. I'm really glad I did because the chicken is cooked just perfect and is insanely juicy. I love hummus but their moutabal steals the show, so now I just get double orders of it as a side and of course, the garlic sauce (I don't think I need to give it any adjectives because it's just an amazingly glorious GARLIC SAUCE). read more

Wow!! I've been bragging about my lunch all day!! I have never been impressed with Zankou, I find the customer service repulsive and degrading, the chicken dry, and everything has an indescribable texture that makes me think of artificial preservatives...or bad catering food.. Plus, they switched to prepackaged "garlic sauce" in micro-sized containers that they practically make you beg (and pay) for. ...and regret later when you realize it wasn't as good as you remembered. That said, I stumbled across Sevan today and my chicken/garlic dream has come true!! Everything oozed with freshness!! Their garlic sauce is pure heaven in your mouth. 5 stars. (and they asked me if I wanted a side of it, with out me having to ask or worry about forgetting to ask.) I ordered the "lunch special" 1/4 chicken for 6 dollars and some change. I didn't expect the "special" part to be 2 for 1. ...I was happy to get a quarter chicken and 2 sides for that price! I ended up with 2 quarter chickens and 4 sides, 2 pitas, and 2 garlic sauces. The chicken is crispy, yet moist, and falling off the bone all at the same time. Paired with the pita, side salad, and garlic sauce.. the combination of flavors made me question why anyone choose Sevan's sub par competition. I also surprisingly devoured the french fries. I'm rarely a fan of thick/crinkle cut fries, but these had a good ole' fashion diner taste that reminded me of childhood deep fried goodness. The restaurant is very clean, and has ample/comfortable outdoor seating. No complaints on customer service. Cut to the chase and very efficient! I'm not sure I really need 2 lunches for the price of 1. It would be an amazing deal if I was returning somewhere with a fridge after ...but I appreciate the offer...and immediately called all of my friends after lunch to see if anyone was available to meet me there next week! (note: I'll be ordering an EXTRA garlic sauce next time....and perhaps investing in a Sevan sized cooler for the car.) read more

Definitely won't be back .......I had major food poisoning here today n I know it was them because that's all I ate today. I told her I wanted the value pack with rice and salad, she turns around and says I already ringed you up and I'm not a mind rider. No lady your a simple cashier who makes minimum wage, and if you could read my mind you wouldn't like what I says to you bitch, and by the way $13:00 bucks for a whole chicken not worth it. Horrible customer service and the food tastes like they got it out of the garbage the night before. The chicken is either undercooked or dry. The food has absolutely no flavor at all. Rice is bland. Hummus is awful and they charge you for basic things that should just come with the dish. Their prices also change and vary based off your ethnicity. read more

Upsides: 1) The chicken really is very good; even the breast meat is juicy and flavorful; the chicken luleh is quite nicely seasoned. 2) Prices are low, and there's even a weekday special for two chicken lunches (includes sides, pita, sauce) for $6.00. Sweet. 3) Seems relatively clean. Downsides: 1) Maybe it's just me, but eating in that space is impossible. It combines the aesthetic of an ancient McDonald's + scary cafeteria + police interrogation booth. 2) Service is not at all helpful. If you'd like ordering suggestions, forget it. Formulate what you want to eat first and tip well. 3) It's annoyingly fast-foody... ingredients aren't quality [though with the prices that's expected], sides offered are things like french fries... and there's no range of salads to pick from, no tabbouleh or whatnot, and their hummus/mutabbal is pretty dreadful. read more

They are better than Zankou. The chicken with the moutaball, garlic sauce, pita, and hammous, yummy in my tummy. It's cheap, easy, and fast. During lunch on the weekdays 11 to 4 pm Yuri can get the quarter chicken plate buy one get one free, what a bargain. The chicken is never too dry.they also close at 10 pm, on one occasion we came in at 955 pm and ordered the chicken kabob plate, instead of turning us away, they cooked the kabob for us and stayed open until our food was ready (the cook got mad at the cashier, in their own language, and we felt bad, but we still enjoyed our yummy chicken kabob plate). After we got into our car, we could see the cook scolding the cashier after they locked the door and turned around the "open"sign. This location or the one in tujunga, you can't go wrong. read more

When it comes to chicken this place beats Zankou, hands down. Not only does it taste better, but it's cheaper and you get a choice of sides. The half chicken dinner is $6.50 after tax, and it's plenty of food for two meals. The service is always fast, and it's never too busy in the early evenings. My only gripe is that it's really more of a take-out place. There's no decor on the inside at all. I imagine eating inside there with some friends might seem a bit...sterile? read more

I really like this place. Some of the negative reviews are true, the service isn't always that friendly and the dining area is pretty small (and old-ish), but I always get takeout. The chicken bowl is my fave, but I've also enjoyed the falafel plate and the schwerma. My son loves to get the half chicken plate with salad (but their ranch dressing is off). The garlic sauce is the best and they have the best rice in the world. I dunno what they do to it, but it's always fluffy and buttery and tender, just perfect. I love this place. I'm not really sure what kinda food this is, but I do know occasionally I have a strange hankering for their rice and chicken. Their portions are huge and there's always a special.
