I started with the Parmesan fries because, honestly, who skips Parmesan fries when they're on the menu? They were crisp, flavorful, and just indulgent enough to feel like the right decision. For the entrée, I ordered the pan-seared salmon, and it did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning complemented the fish beautifully. The risotto was creamy and well-prepared, and the green beans had that fresh, crisp texture that tied everything together. The atmosphere added to the experience. Being set inside a beautifully restored historic property gave the place character. It felt like a spot where locals gathered--there was a familiarity in the room that made it feel like the place to see and be seen. And while it didn't hurt to walk in alongside the head of the local hospital (pure coincidence, and no, I wasn't a patient), the restaurant stood on its own merit. Food was ok. The service was horrible. The waitress took our drink order which was sweet tea, then she totally forgot about us and was not anywhere in the restaurant. I went and found the manager and asked if we could order and she took our order. Our waitress came to our table and asked if we had order and she gave mumbling excuses with no understanding of what the hell she even said. She took over 30 minutes to make it to our table to take our order. She never made any sense and she needs a random drug test for sure. The same waitress started mopping the floor in the restaurant which caused the awful stout smell of chemicals that we could hardly eat our food. Very sad as we like to eat here when we pass through. Nice atmosphere. Waitress was pleasant. Food was not. I believe the queso appetizer was made from canned cheese. Disgusting as far as I was concerned. Worse than that was the chicken fried steak. An absolute 100% fail. It was "tenderized" but was tough and stringy. Near impossible to cut and chew, and had no flavor. The gravy and mashed potatoes were good. Our waitress discounted the $20 steak by $5 because she said she "felt bad" I couldn't eat it. It was a crime that I was even charged. I strongly suggest you find somewhere else in town to eat. The only plus was that the beer was cold. The lobby of the Settles Hotel looked beautiful. It might be a nice place to stay. read more

Big Springs is a town in oil rig country, so you can drive for a while and not see many towns of noteworthy populations. But, Big Springs is a good sized town. From a distance you can see Settles Hotel. Its the tallest building in town, and it is full of surprises. It is old world beautiful inside, with dramatic stairs, ballrooms, bountiful flower arrangements, many lovely paintings and photographs. We were delighted with our parlor room. There was a walk in closet equipped with bathrobes. We had a tv in the palor (with it's own door) and the bedroom (also with it's own door, and comfy beds). The bathroom was beautiful and pristine. I loved the old fashion fixtures. The staff was super friendly. Make sure you eat in the grill and bar. You will not be disappointed! read more

Restaurant has definitely been hit or miss over the years with many bad experiences. The last two experiences have left me writing this review. First off the waitress was there without anyway to take our order so she was committing it to memory. My mom said hamburger, no cheese three separate times because they always mess it up. I ordered chicken fried chicken. My wife had a chicken dish and my son had the salmon. Of course the burger came out with cheese and they brought me chicken fried steak. Half the orders were wrong. My chicken fried chicken came back in about 12 or 15 minutes and it took about 20 minutes for my mom's burger. The green beans with the fish and my wife's chicken were fresh and al dente pretty damn good. I had green beans with the chicken fried chicken that came out of a can and tasted like they were just poured onto the plate from a can. It was a big mixup, one waitress said that perhaps it would be discounted food and that we could get a free dessert. Then the bill came and we had to pay for dessert, though the burger was comped. Here's the kicker and this is why I'm writing the review. The reason we went is because someone gave my mom a gift card the last time and this time as well, we literally could not leave over ONE HOUR from finishing our food because no one in the restaurant knows how to run the gift card. Both times we had to get someone on the hotel side to run it. Both times we literally waited one hour after finishing our food before we could leave. This time after arguing between one another, they eventually comped the entire meal. Literally will not go back. read more

Staying at the hotel and decided to try the restaurant. The ambiance of the hotel is perfect. The food was ok, dinner salad and chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We were seated quickly and the waiter took our order and the food was delivered timely. That was the end of any service. No drink refills or any attention at all. We finished eating our meal and waited over 30 minutes for a check even trying to wave down the waiter. We walked to the front to request our check and leave. They are all younger adults and very polite and considerate. I drink a ton of water being pregnant and they accommodated me with a pitcher of water each night in my hotel room! The food is amazing here. Everything is taste fresh and delicious. The Devils on Horseback are something I would have regularly and the chicken and waffles are perfect. Stopped for breakfast on a Saturday morning while passing through. The food was fine, they have a small menu but just fine. The service was terrible. Stood at the hostess desk for 10 solid minutes while the people working there stared. When finally greeted I asked for a booth, which required "getting set up" , even though only 3 or the 10ish booths were occupied. From there things were ok but slow. I discovered Settles Grill after attending service at Family Faith Center and wanted to grab a bite before returning to Odessa. I knew I was in the right place because it had what I would consider "an aroma pleasing to the Lord". The fried Brussel sprouts were of the highest quality and paired perfectly with both the honey lime glaze and blue cheese crumbles. We were in Big Spring for a week for our granddaughter's birthday. It was also our anniversary week so for lunch we went to Settles Grill. We got there at noon and we were the only ones there. It is a beautiful historic building. They gave us the menu and it was a brunch menu with mostly breakfast items. We told the server that we had hoped to have a special lunch since it was our anniversary. She said that we could have the chicken fried steak even though it was not on the menu. My wife got that and it was delicious. I got the cesar salad with brisket. It was melt in your mouth good. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Settles Grill. They also were doing a great job with Covid safety. Everyone was wearing masks and tables were separated by more than 6 feet. I almost forgot to mention that they gave us a free dessert. A simple bowl of vanilla ice cream with a cherry on top. It was the best ice cream. read more

We had settles grill yesterday for dinner the hotel is beautiful! Our waitress Mytee (sure I spelled that wrong) was very polite said she had just started but gave excellent service! Had the nicest waitress, Jessica who made us feel so welcome and made us laugh. so nice that we came back a few days later only to learned that she had quit. Bummer.
