1st tech comes, temporary fix and it worked great. 2nd tech comes to complete repair and now machine freezes over. Owner shows up to fix the repair and now my machine doesnt work at all, but he can magically get me a new machine for $7000. Like others have said, a lot of gaslighting and blaming me when he doesnt know whats wrong with machine and won't listen when I tell him what its doing. I as well almost got into an argument with him over the gaslighting and weak explanations. He also told me I was charged for emergency service when they literally came in on a weekday in the middle of the day for a scheduled appointment. read more

Not the best experience. Their AC maintenance isn't really maintenance; more like checkup. No condensing / outside coil cleanup, no condensation line checkup ... just checking pressure and some voltages. Blower wheel was grinding and even though they said motor is still at half the life they said we should replace both. In hindsight I wouldn't have replaced the blower motor; just the wheel. Was also told drain lines aren't draining properly and need to be remade, and a switch put in place. They just added a T with a pipe before the P trap. Now air is blowing in the attic through there because it's before the P trap. I checked after and I already had vents on both lines, after P traps. And they didn't install any switch they mentioned before. Tried calling them and they just said someone is going to call back about this. No one called back. read more

Our 20 year old a/c system was on it's last leg, requiring expensive service calls and times without a/c a few times a year. We knew it had to be replaced, but were overwhelmed by starting the process of selecting and paying for a new system. These guys made it simple, and replaced our a/c system and installed a new water heater 2 weeks ago. Red carpet service, and excellent results all around! Their help with selecting a system beforehand by offering 3 options in a simple format via email, complete with pricing and warranty information, was extremely helpful. With our busy lives, we appreciated not having to do all the homework ourselves. Each time I had a question during the process and installation of these 2 sytems, I was able to text the owner of the company, who always responded within minutes. We had some concerns with the sheet rock on the wall near the water heater being a little beat up. (I know, picky, as it's in the attic!) Within 2 days, they sent a guy over to sheet rock the area in question. He did an excellent job, and we were amazed at that level of customer service! I highly recommend Setpoint, and would have no qualms about recommending them to anyone! Will give 5 stars for being prompt, good friendly technician and coming out on a Sunday. and would have been a five star review all around if the markup was a little more in line on parts. Emergency service call fee was reasonable as well but the material was about a 10x markup. $249 for a capacitor that would have been $25 on Monday and $200 for a contactor that is normally $20. I expect a markup for overhead and profit but 10x was a bit spendy. Granted I am in the electrical field and diagnosed the problem before the tech even arrived and would have happily paid a 5x markup for a weekend call (after all, nobody sells these parts on the weekends) but would have waited till Monday and just fixed it myself if I would have known the markup. Guess that is on me for not asking before they were changed. read more

I recently hired Setpoint Refrigeration to replaced my entire Heating / Air-conditioning system here in Georgetown, Texas. They came out inspected the system, did an evaluation of the units and presented me with a cost estimate. At the meantime I waited for three more companies to come and give purchase and replacements estimates. Four days later I had 4 estimates sitting on my desk for evaluation. l and Wife took our time comparing them. At the end of the process it was clear to us who winner was. It was a close call with some of the competitors. We choose Setpoint Refrigeration for the detail inspection they did and at a lower Quoted price than the others. Man, what else can I say? I'm going to have to leave one star on this one. I requested a quote through yelp to a 5 star company and yelp also sent the request to others. Setpoint responded quickly but had no ratings. I tried them out anyways. The complaint was that the unit seemed to overheat and quit before bringing the temperature down to the desired setting. For example, we set 72 and it would get to 75 and stop for a while before trying again. The person that arrived said the capacitor and contacter needed to be changed. He charged $300. He said the condenser coils also could using a washing. So I said okay I'll try to get to that. The problem didn't stop the next day and when I called, he blamed me for not washing the coils yet. We got into a little argument because I said the problem I called about was not solved after his visit. In any event, he sent two guys back and asked $250 to wash the coils. To his credit, during the argument he offered to just do it for free. I said we could split the difference and paid $125. However, the problem still didn't go away. Now he says he can change the condenser for $2000- the $425 already paid. It's like he keeps hiring himself to do more expensive jobs after misidentifying the problem and failing to quote correctly in the beginning. I would stay away and I don't intend to hire him to come back and try yet again. read more
