The Best of its Kind I spent four years living and working in this area while attending Villanova for grad school and know Ardmore/Main Line restaurants better than most as a proud foodie. I also met my now wife in grad school and, obviously, went out to eat quite a lot while we were dating. Trust me when I say that Sesami is probably the best fast casual place between City Avenue down to Villanova/Wayne (I lived in Ardmore while I was in school). Snap Pizza is also another favorite (if you're looking for recs). The tots might be the best thing on their menu (though I try to avoid them now with quarantine and new dad weight piling on). But if you're looking for a guilty pleasure appetizer, this is a must try on their menu. We've had four of their bowls, and have created our own in my ten-ish trips there now. It is always good and seems to hit the spot. I think the flavors pair and hit together so well and the customizable option is obviously key - get what you want, don't pay for what you don't want. Both the Pork and Chicken are great but they have a beef special now on Tuesdays that I'm dying to try. I don't need to get into much more detail than that. Just give them a try. You won't be disappointed - and even if you are, customer service goes above and beyond to make up for it. read more

The problem was that I ordered two Pork bulbogi bowls NOT the "everything spiced" pork bulbogi bowls, and the food I received was so spicy one of the people I ordered it for couldn't eat it, and I didn't enjoy it. if I had realized that the mistake was the restaurant's, I would have called them to return them food, but I didn't realize it until a couple days later when I was invited to write a review and checked my order. Maybe there shouldn't be two dishes with similar contents because clearly the chef got mixed up himself. read more

I was hoping for the five star meal experience I have read about from other reviews here, but can only say it was decent but not great. I had a custom bowl and I specified pork bulgogi, brown rice, yellow corn, house pickles, purple cabbage, shiitake mushrooms and carrots with two sauces on the side, sesame carrot ginger and sriracha aioli, and a garnish of sesame seeds and fried shallots. My disappointment was first off in that there is no where on the menu or website that indicates that every ingredient would be cold. Bulgogi and rice should be warm in my opinion and I falsely expected that to be the way they would be served. The toppings were all fine, shiitake were actually nice, shredded carrot and purple cabbage had a decent flavor with a little rice vinegar apparent, and the corn was fresh. Really all the ingredients tasted fresh, but cold meat and rice didn't really please. I heated up the bowl and it was better. The bulgogi was also very lightly spiced, but I won't hold that against them, as that is to be expected from a suburban restaurant catering to the general public. The other rub was that I purposely paid extra for the sauces to be on the side, and they were incorporated into the bowl. Luckily the flavors went well together, but I did check off the boxes and pay the extra 0.50 for each sauce to ensure that they would be on the side. I also had the night market chicken which was popcorn chicken with five spice and sriracha aioli dipping sauce. This was at least hot, but the breading was a little inconsistent, and the chicken a little overcooked, and it was lacking much of the five spice flavor I was hoping for...it was decent though. Just certainly not great. Sorry I can't rave about the experience. I was hoping to do so. I love good korean and taiwanese food. read more

I visited Sesami on the first day of their official opening, and was SO pleased with my experience. I ordered the chicken flavor bomb bowl and was pleasantly surprised by how tender the chicken was, as I am usually very picky about dry meat. The entire bowl was well proportioned with meats, veggies, and carbs, and perfectly seasoned -- not too salty, not too bland. This is the kind of meal you could eat every day and not feel gross and bloated afterwards. The bowl was really good, but do NOT sleep on the tots! I found myself thinking about them and craving them the next day. The iced jasmine tea was also delicious -- perfectly sweetened, super refreshing. Will be returning again soon! read more

After waiting what seemed like years for the soft opening during Covid-19, Sesami did not disappoint at all. The full ordering and space experience was not there during the pandemic of course, and we ordered online beforehand but the space definitely looked like it was gonna be very fun and modern. They did a very good job with limiting the number of customers and providing hand sanitizer so that we could get out food safely, something I've found a lot of places only put up scribbled signs for but don't enforce. We got the C-Town Cunch bowl, Bulgogi BiBim bowl, and a custom bowl. Everything tasted super fresh and the meat and grill items weren't greasy like at other asian bowl places. The serving sizes were also filling- enough that I had to split my bowl into 1.5 meals. The BBQ Chicken was just amazing. Super tasty, super juicy. Their sauces are all very unique as well and I highly recommend the Signature green sauce! I regret not trying their Munchies appetizers or drinks but will definitely get them next time. They recently added new menu items and upgraded their system and equipment so I look forward to my next time here, hopefully without the restrictions of the pandemic. read more

Not sure what's going on? The food was consistently good here until the last two times I ordered. They used to have a nice mix of veggies, protein and rice. The last two times I ordered the bowls were mostly rice. A new option they offered was stir fry the bowl. I tried it and was disappointed. Hot rice does not equal stir fried. It was soggy and the seasoning became muddled definitely not the way to go. Hopefully they can get back to what made them good I'll give them another try next month. read more

My husband and I LOVE Sesami. They are one of our go-to takeout/delivery spots and never fail to please. Consistently good every time. Tonight, there was a Door Dash debacle wherein we ordered delivery and apparently everyone except Door Dash got the memo. Forty minutes past when our food was supposed to have arrived, we called and Sesami filled us in. Delicious. Got the bulgogi (pork) bimbim signature bowl. The flavors were awesome. I added mushrooms. The combo of the rice, mushrooms, bulgogi and sesame ginger sauce is perfect. They forgot to ask put corn in my bowl but didn't matter, was great. Also got the night market chicken. Very fresh, perfect size bites, right out of the cooker. So I've never been here until today but I was picking my car up from the shop and wanted something quick. Where to start. The everything spicy bowl was beautiful. It's a sizeable amount of food and I did not stop slapping my chopsticks into that bowl until there was nothing left but oils and juices soaked into the bowl. It was fast, I ordered and paid on a tablet, and the front guy was friendly. The pickle was light, not too salty/briny. Kimchi was cut into manageable pieces and bringing the usual funk. The bulgogi pork was tender, sticky, and had those crispy bits you dream about. Most importantly the brown rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned properly. If you're ever in the area I suggest you stop whatever you're doing and support these folks. Five freakin big ol stars. read more

I didn't think the tater tots arrived crunchy, but all our bowls were good and they seem healthy. The containers are compostable which is a plus. Everyone liked the chicken dumplings. They don't staple shut their delivery bags which is a little uncomfortable when you are having food delivered during Covid. This unassuming place is a treasure. The guys behind the counter are friendly and courteous. The food is spectacular and I highly recommend the specials. Sesami tots and/or Crispy Chicken Dumplings are a great way to start. Vegetarian or Meat eaters will delight or create your own bowl. I got their special of the day, the brisket bowl. It was the caliber of food that one might only expect to get in NYC! Thank goodness for Sesami! The only thing that I caution you on is to make sure you check the items in your take out bag before you leave.
