WARNING TO ALL FIRE DAMAGE CUSTOMERS: Be aware ServiceMaster are complete con artists that are taking advantage of people that have suffered damage from the recent wildfires. I contracted with ServiceMaster in Ontario California, when I received my invoice there was over 10K of charges that had no relation to the work done at the property, these charges included hotel and per diem accompanied with a 20% random surcharge for just 3 days of work, that was in addition to the 24k in labor. None of their so called subsistence charges are outlined in the scope of work they give when they quote . Of course insurance doesn't cover fraudulent charges like this, why would anyone have to pay for a hotel charge for a company based just 25 miles from the jobsite!!!!! Its absolutely despicable that people like this exist that gouge customers when they are trying to recover from a natural disaster STAY AWAY!!!!!! read more

It's impossible to overstate this: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. My mother-in-law had a major water leak at her house and we made the mistake of contracting with ServiceMaster for repairs. Those repairs took months longer than they estimated, and a year after paying what we thought was the final amount they suddenly demanded thousands more dollars from a senior citizen on a fixed income. The amount owed kept changing without explanation, and the person in charge of accounts receivable sent terse responses that didn't answer our questions. Our insurance company has told us we don't owe that additional money, but ServiceMaster has said it will initiate collections against my mother-in-law, whose tiny monthly income goes entirely toward food and utilities. In addition, our insurance adjuster said he contacted ServiceMaster repeatedly for months without a response and finally closed the claim as a result. When I brought this up to ServiceMaster, their only response was, "Let's agree to disagree." What kind of company says that??? You will be unhappy if you use this company, I guarantee it. Despite all the horror stories about contractors, I never expected one to be this unprofessional and greedy. read more

Update 6/29/18 Looks like these guys complained to Yelp, and had this review removed (and removed from other locations from which these service people were based at). Such a shady company!! MOST. HORRIBLE.COMPANY.EVER. This is the headquarters location in Ontario, which should be the most organized. However, everything from the beginning screamed incompetence, lack of response, and overall chaos. The reason why I agreed to use them was their inspector, Brendan M. He had seemed knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. However, after receiving a quote from PATRICIA W., their estimator, she disappeared. Didn't respond to emails, voicemails, calls on various numbers. I even called the main call center line, who wasn't able to reach her. I was literally calling to BEG to pay them a deposit and start the project. Finally, the supervisor of Brendan, THOMAS A., called me when I mentioned no one returned my calls. He wasn't very helpful from the beginning, was kind of catty, kind of like a manager in name only but can't do a damn thing or answer any real questions, but thankfully, he did return calls (after Brendan prompted him). The only person who responded to me quickly was their A/R manager...and that was to collect 50% deposit from me. Funny, the only one who responds is the one who takes my money... Finally, there were authorization and release of liability forms they wanted me to sign. Patricia (yes, she finally rose from the dead...conveniently right after I paid them a good chunk of cash) sent over the authorization form...with someone else's name, a date from 5 months ago, and a totally different property address on it!! Next, she sent me a liability form that had very different square footage listed, missing words and characters in the form (like stuff was cut off from the page) AND she wanted me to release the company from "damages due to...work done by ServiceMaster". Um...I'm sorry, I'm supposed to release you from liability...if you do work and cause damage?? That makes no sense! I emailed back right away about the errors, but never received revised forms. Work was supposed to start this morning. Guess what? I received a text saying they couldn't start the work because I didn't sign the forms! I mentioned the errors, and Brendan said "this is out of my hands until the forms are agreed upon and signed"...was I supposed to sign a form that wasn't even addressed to me and had a different property listed?! I got a call from Thomas, saying they were going to refund my deposit and drop the project. Instead of trying to fix the problem, they took the cowardly route and ran away. Luckily, I think the actual work would be a lot more problematic, considering they couldn't even send me a form properly. Disaster averted! Word of advice to anyone considering ServiceMaster by EMT. Avoid these guys. Although they were recommended, our experience with them was not even worthy of a single star. The entire process of simply trying to get an estimate from ServiceMaster was sloppy and unfocused. From their estimator arriving over an hour late to our house for the initial appointment (without a courtesy call to update us) to 5 days later when the estimate was finally emailed to the wrong address (thus providing our information to an unknown person). They also sent the estimate to our insurance company without our knowledge. We decided to use another company to cleanup our water damage. These guys are unprofessional and given the many issues in simply getting an estimate from them, I feel like we dodged a bullet in not going forward with them. read more

We had a leak coming from our upstairs neighbor. Andrew and Phillip from ServiceMaster began to help. They set up water mitigation, cut into our drywall, and collected money from my insurance. They then began avoiding calls and taking days to respond to texts. It took 3 weeks to have them return to write up an estimate of repairs after demolition. From there I never saw the estimate and my insurance company never heard from them. read more

We had a flood in the downstairs of our home in kitchen, bathroom, dining, living and family room areas. It was a mess. Abraham spearheaded the demo project and did a great job. He stayed in touch the whole time and made sure our insurance claim was going to cover replacing the carpet and flooring downstairs. He was nice and easygoing but got the job done. I hope more people like Abraham get you guys better reviews because I was surprised to say the least to see this is a 2-star company based on my experience. read more

We had a fire, and They are holding our stuff in their warehouse until they receive payment but lie on their invoices, make things up that don't exist saying they cleaned said items and then say it's human error? This human error racked up to about $1000 and that was just one invoice. The other two invoices have lies on them as well and they want to receive payment for a crappy job? They want payment for cleaning our items that we don't even know if they have been cleaned? They didn't even clean the property structure to standard. Still soot everywhere! They went over their preliminary estimate even though we have text proof that they wouldn't without verifying with us first. Their general manager Brian Jones needs sensitivity training when dealing with families who have been displaced out of their homes and don't have their belongings. We have an infant and a disabled mother who are sleeping on air mattresses and the floor, they basically don't care. This company is unprofessional, liars, and definitely don't fit any type of "standard" as they claim on their website. In my photos below, Are all things their invoice said they cleaned, these are not even the items they said they cleaned that don't exist. They removed these items from the invoice and blamed it on human error. If we hadn't caught this, we would have paid and I wonder how many families their "human error" has robbed of money. This was is it the cleaning of the structure portion. Their other invoices have items that don't exist on them as well and exaggerated work hours for their cleaning crew to which we asked Brian to remove and he said "sorry, but no" They also left their lunch garbage behind for my husband and I to throw away. It is a pleasure to be able to write a review about Service Master. Two team members, Brian Tracey and Brandon Worboys were more than fantastic. My upstairs neighbor's hot water heater cracked and flooded my condo along with his condo. Lord, what a mess. The two workers came to my rescue via my insurance company and I'm so glad that they were sent to me! Brandon was very respectful of all my property and tried his level best to cordon off the damaged part of my home from the undamaged part. I must tell you they did a fabulous job! We had a rugged situation. The condo's roof leaked around 5 am and at 5:30 am the ceiling collapsed in the upstairs bedroom. I contacted an emergency roof repair company that came within 2 hours which was amazing since they had 14 people ahead of me, but they were kind enough to give me priority. They got rid of the water that settled 5 " deep up there and then tarped it, which stopped water pouring into the bedroom. I contacted my insurance company and they recommended Service Master, so I went ahead with them. They removed the ceiling debris and insulation in downstairs living room (rain flowed down there also). They ran fans and dehydrator. Then also removed soaked carpeting in stairway, closet, and downstairs living room. Once roof had dried out, they cut out wet and damaged ceiling and insulation in upstairs bedroom and carpeting. It was a daunting job, but they worked in stages, came everyday to work and check on the drying stages. The company worked with my tenant who stayed there for awhile and when she and her family moved in with relatives, they worked with her so she could drive over and let them inside the premises. They did a very professional job. My tenant took photos of all the work they did and sent them to me, so I could see that they took out everything that was damaged and kept the place clean and dry. The only suggestion that I have is that the construction manager might consider contacting the owner each day or every other day to give an update on the work being done. Fortunately, my tenant filled me in. I would definitely recommend this company, as they are conscientious, courteous, and professional. They understand the homeowner/landlord's concerns and act in a thorough and prompt manner. Great job! read more

If you only need water damage cleaned up then this is a great company. Jamal in the water mitigation department was amazing. But o am warning you to stop there. Do not let them "pack" and store your household belongings. Your wet stuff will be packed and kept wrapped in plastic in storage with unwet/damages items. They will leave your house open and unlocked at the end of the day, you will not get all of your stuff back and some things will be damaged. The "supervisor" Rick will not call you back and when you finally hey ahold of him he will not offer a apology or try to find your missing boxes and items and replace what was broken. I am still in the process to get my stuff back and repairs and replaced including a box of irreplaceable items. This company is supposed to help you during one of the worst times of your life but they just make it worse. Do not use then for anything other then water cleanup. read more

Hi I checked off the one star only because a zero is not an option. So I contacted my insurance for a leak I had coming in my house. Insurance then called a company Servicemaster to come take a look, I guess they contract people and contacted another company which was SLS property solutions. Someone came out to look at the probally and literally did nothing to fix it. I was charged for a bill of $1,062.00. I was very upset. My husband and I tried calling the company to find out what happened. I spoke to a Jennifer & a manager neither one was able to help. It went back and fourth for weeks. I was told they we signed a contract. I told them yes we did but it was signed before any work was done. The SLS person did nothing and charged us. Our rental home got flooded and ServiceMaster came to the rescue! They were contracted by my home insurance, but I must say they did a great job taking care of a very stressful situation. They came promptly after being contacted, and cleaned up the mess efficiently and with great care. They were even able to save our kitchen cabinets with how carefully they removed the damaged laminate floor and cabinet toe-kicks. The project manager, Jimmy, and his crew are very professional and easy to work with. Jimmy also goes above and beyond (answering email, calls and texts very promptly) to make sure you understand the extent of their work and ensures all questions are answered. Please just call any other company other than this one to do your remediation services. They fail to explain that they charge a $200-250 service call fee even knowing I was still on the fence on whether or not would be going through my homeowners insurance. They should have simply stated prior to sending anyone out to give an estimate on the remediation service on my situation and knowing I hadn't met with an adjuster for my flooding issue in my garage, a simple explanation of their service fee charges would have kept me from having anyone come out and give me a ridiculous estimate on the repair service. Damn near charging anywhere from $500-$1000 per day for fans and the setup service. Craziness. And don't bother trying to dispute anything with them they don't care about their reputation regardless because they want to take and keep your money. They do not value customer service. At all!!! I would not even rate a one star but I couldn't post this if I didn't select at least one star. read more

Like a few others I had to click on the one star since there were no others lower than that. How these people are still in business is beyond me. Had a pipe break in the wall causing water damage to the carpet and hardwood floor. They were recommended by the insurance company so we had them come in to do the dry out. Big mistake!! Long story short... after 5 days of listening to 4 big fans blowing 24/7 nothing was accomplished. Pad under carpet still wet.. which we had to bring to their attention... water still under hardwood floors!! Ended up hiring a flooring company to come in and take up the wooden floor. Wish I would have checked them out prior to allowing them through the front door. I would never recommend this company to anyone else. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. Worst company I have ever had the misfortune to do business with. Due to sub floor damage all the furniture in my house was packed up and stored by Service Master while repairs were done. First issue was several missing items which they found rather quickly and returned. The bigger issues are the damaged items - a ripped lamp shade, a large cut on a desk chair, wires cut on the video game system and a front screen door that is damaged and will no longer close. After repeated phone calls, messages and emails over the corse of several weeks we finally got someone to respond. Melanie at first seemed helpful but quickly turned rude and sarcastic, insulting us and the quality of our damaged items. After setting an appointment to come out in an attempt to repair the screen, no one showed up. No one called. No one responded to our messages or emails. We have been back in the house since mid-January and are still waiting on Service Master to address our concerns. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

Sorry hired Service Masters in Ontario California to rebuild our burnt home. This review is based on my opinion and experience with ServiceMasters. In an effort to correct the reconstruction concerns met with Mike and Bruce at the State Farm Insurance agent's office, that highly recommended this business. Supposedly a State Farm "Elite" service provider. Also to store the recoverable items from the fire. The work performed was poorly done. The tile for the kitchen and bathroom poorly done. The tile was crooked and left with grout residue on the tile. The tile installer did not return to remove the residue. A chemical used to remove the gout from the tile could have been bought from Home Depot. Yes I am currently performing that work to remove the residue. The stucco applied to the outside of the house and brick walls started to have within weeks multiple cracking, crumble, lumpy, and uneven application. The front of the house has a large poorly drawn picture of a male's sexual organs. There are several other concerns and issues bought to The Representatives attention. Multiple reasonable requested were made to Service Masters to correct the concerns were made by my husband and myself. Currently we are being ignored. As in receiving no response from Service Masters. In hindsight my experience and opinion, had I known how an "Elite " State Farm Recommendation operated, would have run screaming the other way. State Farm indicated the businesses recommended worked above and beyond industry standards. Each and every time we were told the work met industrial standards by ServiceMasters. We hired ServicesMasters because the work performed was supposedly above and beyond industry standards. read more

I have gotten the run around since the payment was made last week. The same priority should be made to return items as when they are picked up. read more
