I wrote a review last week about service techniques, and now I have to update the review. DO NOT take your car here! I promise you, you will regret it if you do. I have never written a review about any business before, but I have also never been treated so poorly by anyone in my life, so I feel compelled to review this business in order to warn others. We dropped my husband's car off 9 days, ago, and after 9 days Kevin was not only unable to diagnose or fix a simple brake problem, but the brakes actually felt worse when we picked it up. Initially the brakes were squishy and felt a little unsafe, so we brought it in. When we picked it up, my husband was scared to drive 0.2 miles to AAA Auto repair, because the brakes were that much worse. So in case you haven't read my first review, the initial problem was lack of communication. We dropped it off on Tuesday 7/19, and told them we needed it back by Tuesday 7/26. We assumed a week would be plenty of time to diagnose and fix a brake problem, and they confirmed it would be. We didn't hear from them the next day (Weds) with a quote or diagnosis like they promised, and by Friday we were REALLY wondering what was going on with our car, and still hadn't heard anything. We called multiple times that day, and were placed on hold, told they would call us back, and they never did. So finally at closing time, we drove down there and talked to them in person. They told us they were so backlogged with cars, they hadn't even looked at our car. (First red flag). We almost took the car somewhere else, but they reassured us that they were caught up, and would have the car ready on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. Monday rolls around, and they call us saying they don't know what's wrong, but they're working on it. Same answer on Tuesday. By Wednesday, we were frustrated and out of time. Both my husband and I had to work Thursday and Friday at 7 am and couldn't share a car any longer. We drove to service techniques around noon, and Kevin rambled on about what could be wrong, and said he needed more time. He told us he had bled the brakes, replaced the master cylinder, and the car was worse now than before. I'm not sure how that's possible, but it was. He convinced us to leave it with him for another 7 hours, and assured us it would be ready by 7pm. When we came back at 7, he was in an angry, foul mood (similar to how other reviewers have described). He yelled at us about how we had time management problems because we couldn't be without the car for more than 9 days (as though 9 days isn't time enough to fix a car), and told us we would get killed if we tried to drive that car. We asked him to please not yell at us, as there was no need to get angry, we simply needed our car back, and he continued to yell, stating we could take our car elsewhere, he didn't need our business. He told us he has 64 cars in his lot, and he's had cars sitting there for 3 or more weeks (as though that should make it ok that our car has taken so long, and still isn't fixed). He followed us out to our car as we tried to leave, and continued to yell, insulting us, and telling us he wouldn't be surprised if we sued him. He said in reference to our conversation in his shop "that was for the cameras", and that he had lost in court before in situations like this. I'm not sure what all that means, but it didn't sit well. It left me wondering if he had damaged the car further than it already was. Either way, he made it very clear he did not need the business, and that if we did not like being yelled at, we could find another mechanic, because that was how he conducted business. He said, "it happens all the time, and you should have heard the shouting match between me and another customer today. We dropped multiple F bombs, and were shouting at the top of our lungs for 20 minutes". It got so intense between Kevin and us that I got my phone out to record what he was saying to us, because I didn't think anyone would believe how he was treating us unless they heard it themselves. One last thing he said to us was that he finally had figured out what was wrong with our car, (I doubt it, but he said he had), but that he would not tell us what it was, and he wouldn't tell us the only other shop in town that he believed could fix it besides himself. (He loves to bad mouth other mechanics, which he did on every visit we made to the shop, which were only necessary because we couldn't get a call back to update us on our car's status). So the bottom line is, after 9 days, the car is not fixed, is actually worse than when we brought it in, and we were yelled at for 10 minutes for needing the car back, and wanting to take it somewhere else where it might actually get fixed. Thanks a lot Kevin Kinnard! You're definitely not getting our business again. But that's ok with you, because apparently, you don't need it. read more

Growing up my mom had found them and never settled for any other shop. Same goes for my brother and myself. Heard today alone from two people in the shop that they have been going there for over a decade. Amazing to find places like this filled with good honest people that you know are in it to help you and not take advantage of what you don't know about cars. Always going above and beyond what they have to to make car issues a little less painful. Cannot recommend enough. read more

I recommended Service Techniques to a friend at the gym. She was taking her son's older car to the dealer because they would give her a shuttle ride back. I told her it would probably be cheaper to take it to Service Techniques and get a cab, LOL. But seriously, through all the apparent chaos and keys and notes laying around on the counter (that's how they tell what you want to do :), the guys get to your car and call you and give you the scoop. Nice thing is ... you can trust them. Big appointment system? No. How long your car might be there? Not really guaranteed. If you can live within these parameters though, and stay out of their way (e.g. don't call us, we'll call you), you'll be pleased with the quality of work, the fair pricing, and the service overall. read more

This is the absolute worst experience I've had with a mechanic. The check engine light came on in my truck. I went to O'Reilly's auto parts and had them put a code reader on it and got the code. I called Service Techniques and spoke to Kevin (the owner) and asked him if he would charge me for diagnostics since I already done the leg work on that. He said "No, I'm not like those other guys that do that". I told him I needed to arrange for a ride so I would drop it off the next day. I dropped my vehicle off the next morning. I had not heard anything by the afternoon of the following day so I called. The guy that answered said Kevin would call me back and let me know what is going on. I waited around for the remainder of the day and never got a call. The next morning I called again. Again, the guy that answered the phone said Kevin would have to call me back. I said "No, we did that yesterday and I wasted the whole afternoon for a call that never came." He said Kevin was not there and he's the only one that knows what is going on. At that point I requested Kevin's cell phone number. He said he didn't have it because Kevin has his number set to private on the caller id. I told him I didn't believe that he had no way of getting in contact with his boss. He said he would call Kevin and have him call me right back. I said "Right back?" He said "Yes, Right back". I waited for twenty minutes and still no call. I called back again and said I had not heard from Kevin. He said "I know, I'm waiting for him to get here". At that point I was done. I told him to have my truck ready I was on my way down there to pick it up. When I got there Kevin was at the front desk going through some paperwork. I requested my keys. Kevin said I don't have the bill written up yet. I told him I wasn't paying for anything as he had not done anything. Kevin then started yelling at me saying "Then I'm not going to tell you what is wrong with your truck and you are going to take it and fuck it up. I said no I'm not, it's going right over to Earnhardt's and they will fix it. I told him his staff was lying to me about not being able to get a hold of him and maybe this whole thing could have been avoided if he wrote notes about the status of the vehicle so when a customer calls they can get answers. At that point he asked me if people told me how to do my job. I said "Only if I'm messing it up". He continued to yell at me saying "your being a dickhead, your being a dickhead" That continued until I walked out of his shop. I took the vehicle to Earnhardt Ford and they had it diagnosed by noon and fixed by 4 PM on the same day. I've been in the customer service industry for decades. There is no excuse for speaking to a customer the way Kevin spoke to me. Not to mention the fact that he had my vehicle for days when it should have only taken a few hours, he tried to charge me for something he said would be free and his staff lied about their ability to contact Kevin when all I wanted to know is what is going on with my vehicle. Not once did Kevin ask me why I was unhappy. read more

I took my 2003 Honda to Service Techniques several times for service and had been happy. From oil changes, to radiator hose repairs, to complete replacement of all motor mounts, this place was cool and I never felt like I was getting ripped off. Unfortunately that all changed with my last service. I took my 2014 F-150 in for an oil change on the Thursday before a 3 day holiday. They were really busy, so I had no problem leaving the truck there and picking it up later. Dropped it off at about 10AM. Never heard back from them and when I called at 6PM, half hour before closing time, I got their voicemail. Left a message and still never heard back. Drove by that evening and could tell the truck had been moved, but didn't know if it had been serviced. Called in the morning and they answered this time. Apologized for not calling back and said I could come in and pick up the truck any time, but they wouldn't have the ticket ready for 1/2 hour or so. I had to wait for someone to be able to take me in and didn't get there until about 4. I couldn't see my truck anywhere. Nobody was in the front office. I had to walk to the back of the shop to find someone. They got my key and cashed me out, again apologizing and giving excuses for the delay. I asked where my truck was and they weren't really sure, but thought it was on the side of the building. I went around to the side and couldn't find it. Then noticed it in the neighboring lot. Fast forward one day. Go to take the truck to run some errands and find a nice pool of oil all over my f*ing garage floor. Now I'm sitting at Earnhardt Ford waiting for them to fix this mess. There is so much oil, they don't know yet if it's because they didn't get the drain plug in right or the filter on right. I'm pissed to say the least and will be requesting a refund for their half-a$$ed work. I also wasn't impressed with their $55 price tag for an oil change that would have cost me $45 at Earnhardt Ford and would have included a 10 point inspection and fluid top off, which Service Techniques does not do. read more

After getting the "scary estimate" from a local dealership to service our vehicle, we found Kevin. Not only was he able to save us THOUSANDS of dollars for unnecessary repairs, he found that work the dealership was suggesting was incorrect. He took the time to diagnose the problem correctly, and repair our vehicle at a fraction of the dealers estimate. Steve and Kevin are truly honest guys. That's not a word you hear often in the auto mechanic industry. We are lucky to have found them! read more

These guys are the absolute best. We have been bringing all of our cars to them for years, and always receive the best service at an amazing price. It is the only place we send our friends and family to. All the proof I need is the fact that my '86 4 runner is still humming like new. Thank you Service Tech! read more

Mike was great! My husband is a car guy and he chose Service Techniques to replace our timing belt and water pump. After the they replaced it my car started to make a noise. So they replaced the tensioners again but still a few days later the noise was back. It took a few times to get it right but Mike was determined to do whatever it took to make the new noise go away. Finally a third time with a Honda brand tensioner and the noise is gone. Although it was inconvenient to not have my car for a few days I am impressed with the customer service at Service Techniques. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Kevin at Service Techniques for over 18 years. My main point is that they do good work, they are honest, and actually will look for ways to save me money. I have had everything from oil changes to an upper engine replacement in my '88 Toyota 4x4. As some of the other reviews state - this is a "working" shop, and they are quite a team. Stay away from this auto repair shop!!!!! They are a rip off and do not stand by there repairs. i took my car there because it would not start and first they came up with all these problems with the car and had it for 7 days. Then they said they charged the battery and tested a sensor and it was ready to get picked up. We paid them $110.00 and pulled the car out of the repair shop and it died 2 blocks down the road. Kevin the owner claimed we were lying and refused to give us our money back or repair the car and left us stranded. These people are ripoffs and con artists. Stay away and be warned. UPDATE!!!! Posted a negative post and filed a BBB against them and Steve Mechanic and Kevin owner keep calling me and harrassing me and still refuse to give me my money back. Very unprofessional. I am serious STAY AWAY unless you want to get harrassed and ripped off..P.S took my car right down the road to the Triple A auto repair shop had it diagnosed and repaired the same day and is running great, but this shop had it for seven days and did not fix it. Go to the Triple A shop on Kyrene and Chandler Blvd, Great service and great mechanics unlike these SCAM artists. read more

I can not, in good faith, recommend Serv Tech. My mother's Plymouth Voyager needed wiring work done, but Serv Tech said that it was beyond repair. Then, I took my Isuzu Rodeo there because it would not pass emissions. The guys said that it needed new catalytic converters, but they could not find the parts it needed except thru the dealership, whose prices I could not afford. For MONTHS, my car sat there at the shop, while they "kept looking for the parts". Finally, I found the parts for a reasonable price, ordered them myself, and had them shipped to the shop. The shop put on the new catalytic converters, but my car STILL won't pass emissions. Now they say it needs new fuel injectors, but guess what? Of course, the shop can't find the parts. It's like they don't want the work! My car has been sitting at Serve Tech for months and months and months... almost a year! And it's partially my fault for not having it moved sooner! I'm having it towed this week to Sunland! Hopefully I'll have better luck there! read more
